manmade:Study more on Neoliberalism, subsidy reform as regard theory that explain why governments should cut subsidy. The mess u see today is part of Buhari an illiterate who calls himself a reformer... A clueless man supported by tinubu to run this country as as a tout. That led this country where it is today |
Morizo:This argument is beyond your mental capacity. Lastly if government refuse to address the root causes of which involves wastage of public funds then in 10 years from now you will ask for 1million minimum wage.
|
ForValour:I will not embrace silence am a Nigerian I only went to school... A master/PhD then I will be back. Real wage is the actual value of the naira. Normal wage is the face value.. Which is what labour is asking to be reviewed upward. I know my argument is seen as anti progress especially to the working class in FG payroll. Let me ask you... Are you willing to pay your gate man 400,000 as minimum wage? The UK u talked about, they do everything right to ensure that their real wage doesn't fall. Government must tackle insecurity that drives away investors, they must ensure farmers are able to go to farm unhurt, they must support farmers that grows this crops, end importation of fuel, seek way to address excessive borrowing, and seek ways to ask for debt forgiveness and pay debt borrowed.. Lastly they should ensure state governors are accountable. This are the thing sinking naira down. |
manmade:Am an Msc student in a prestigious University in the UK and this area of discuss is my specialty. No economic theory will support wage increase by 100% not alone 500% If government should peg 400,000 as minimum wage then you should be ready to pay your maid, gate man, security guards, drivers etc 400,000 as salary. |
blowjohn:Recently the government raised interest rate to 26% this will help take out funds Buhari government printed out. Government must consult economist to ensure that it does not cause future depreciation of naira. Labour only knows how to ask for wage increment but will never ask for end to fuel import, end to insecurity, end to farmers being killed in farms. If all this alongside corruption among state government is not tackled the any increase will cause inflation as Labour will still come to ask for upward review of wages |
RodgersAkpafu:To help identify them. Like he is housa, yoruba, igbo etc from this state, he leaves in this city etc |
blowjohn:Raising it to 400k will sole a problem partially for a few government workers. As such business men and woman, market sellers will slowly adjust their prices to get a fair share. The government will go back to print more money to meet the new demand. Private sectors will struggle to pay the minimum wage now most of them are struggling to even make profit. Let's take it this way... What about tackling the root causes that makes naira to sink? If you watch as insecurity increase, naira depreciated. As fuel importation grows naira depreciate. As Buhari government + tinubu government keeps borrowing naira depreciate. If a sincere government gets it right with this variables then naira will appreciate |
Jestin:What are those things that made naira to fall? If you don't tackle it then even though you increase minimum wages to 1million then In 10 years we willl be demanding they increase it to 20 million. |
lastkingsman:This is what I have been explaning to them they keep insulting me. |
Deenillah:You don't run an economy by simple emotion rather by proven economic theory. If you agree to their demand then by 10 years we will be on the table again to discuss same issue. According to the quantity theory of money, M*v=p*y. When you increase money supply through whatever means then it will result to higher prices. Rather government must give priority to the fundamentals that trigger this problem which are fuel importation, government must partner with dangote to ensure they end oil import. Government must ensure they also set up a framework to tackle insecurity, especially in the north so that people can go back to farm peacefully. Farmers must be supported by all means, Wastage by state governors must be checked. If all this are done then real wage will increase rather than money wage |
eddynaira125:What labor care about is about money wage not real wage. It's like talking paracetamol for cancer symptoms. If they meet this thier demand then consumers prices index will adjust to meet current prices between 5 to 10 years from now. What we should look at is how to tackle the issue causing naira to lose value which are insecurity in the north, fuel import, bad roads, mismanagement of funds by state governors, poor support to farmers. If all this are tackled then naira will gain value within few years to come |
Johel:Is not by insult we are looking at their demand through a lense. No economic theory justify wages to grow by that amount else u calling for further inflation If that demand is meet believe me in 5 years time we will be on the table again to discuss money wage increase rather than talking about how to increase the real wage increase. Inflation will rice again as prices of foods stuff will climb gradually to augment past differences. Lastly I won't die broke. |
NezzyMike:Am into security alongside forklift unless you know that supplier directly and he agreed to pay by hand. I called supplier because they are middle men who take contracts from those who wa given the main job and they supply to location. And it's rare.. That is why I said 99.9% impossible to find. No well established security suppliers will indulge in that believe me... And lastly don't take risk of saying I know this one it work for because before u get here that window might have closed like the person is not ready or don't have sites to send u to. Lastly almost all agencies hardly gives 20hrs job as most pub jobs are evening like 7 and ends 12 midnight and you got to work for 2 days... Friday and Saturday. And almost all pub related jobs operate this way. Just 12hours per week and it flows through NI |
Gerrard59:Its not easy out there but if one must travel selling of properties must not be an option because if things turns south then you fall back home and still hold ur property. Secondly if one has a good job with good career progression prospect it's better to hold on to it or expand into business alongside the job. Lastly you should only leave your current job of its work related visa you got. Like you applied for job and they recruited you and gives you COS. You don't have to look back just leave |
Labour demand is much. They should accept 60/70 as minimum wage year2013:Oh they should pay them 400,000 they asked for? Na stage 2 inflation you de call for. Have you studied the Expectational Augmented Philip curve theory? Have you studied the wage wage price spiral theory? ITbomb:Can the government cought out this money you called without going back to print more money? If what labour is asking for Is implemented it's to cost 10 trillion monthly. Does Nigeria has that money to push out? rolams:The government should look for ways to increase productivity, that is national output. They should look for ways to tackle insecurity so that farmers can grow food. They should look for ways out all federal roads in order to transport foods, goods from North to South. They should look for ways to be transparent in oil production. Ensures they partner with dangote to bridge the gap that exist in oil import. If all this are tackle alongside corruption mostly among state government then real wage will increase. There is a difference between real wage n money wage. ... Search that in Internet to learn more. |
Gerrard59:You can go for two years program or one year then after u go for post study from there u try your luck |
Gerrard59:What I mean is that they value UK experience more. However that does not mean that you won't see jobs with Nigerian experience but it might take time. Don't be surprised that u get over 150 rejection on indeed but if u keep pressing u might get at last But you and I know we needed money instantly to sort bills immediately we land in the country hence hoping on this big jobs is not the best. Even if they pick you, the reference and screening stage and whole recruitment stage might take 3months. So it's something you plan for long run . But in short run immediately u land ... Cleaning jobs, security, warehouse, care, factory jobs might employ u much quicker. Infact they have been a life saver to many |
MatrixCircle: pay by hand ke where u see am. Can u even get to see the director or owner of thr company? The chances of seeing such pay by hand is 99.9% impossible unless baby sitting where a class mate will be going to work and will like u to look over the baby and mighty pay u 6 pounds per hour and this job one might see it 3 times in a whole semester. |
Tizu:Na this statement made us took this this terrible route. Please be mindful of what u post. U see those people begging food? They are bankers, well to do people in Nigeria etc. And to come here u have to part with nothing less than 30milliion naira to 45 million naira... No be poor man decision and if u get that kind money I won't throw it in ocean |
LegendHero:The truth is that most UK citizens hardly go pass university degree. Upon all the options available to them... Council loans, student loan, government subsidy, University pegging school fees below 10k pounds. They hardly go. Instead they most prefer apprenticeship and it is fully funded by council tax and they are paid 6 to 8 pound pee hour to learn this skills. Even most universities are now offering what they call degree apprenticeship in a bid to attract British citizens to incorporate skills alongside study. Still yet them no send. |
AmericanIdiot:If they get job will they be begging? Where is the job to do? If you have one then be thankful |
RodgersAkpafu:Yes most Plan was to get cos and stay back. That was why most sold everything to get to UK, which signals they are saying bye to Nigeria for q long time. This include me. You are right |
RodgersAkpafu:Also note that they recently raised the fees for post study, IHS and visa too. It was not expensive like this. The new price came into effect recently it was not this expensive before. Secondly most thought they could get jobs and before 5 months school fees clear..but on reality 10 month they are still struggling to clear it. |
RodgersAkpafu:This plan well plan well. They had probably paid for school fees. And now care cos don scarce. So the only way na post study. A husband and wife will have to cough out 6000 pounds for post study. I don't know how many children they have then u multiply. After struggling to pay school fees finish and loan and now maybe their visa remains till August to expire... Which magic can they do to raise 15k. The only thing is to send the children back to Nigeria but the irony is that... Am leaving to give my children a better future They better return the children to Nigeria, then both parents apply for post study then use the 2 years to gather back funds they sank for the japa |
MatrixCircle:I have seen family man crying [img][/img] crying like a baby. A classmate of mine the husband had high blood pressure and collapsed was rushed to hospital when 999 was called and thankfully nothing happened to him. I have a neighbour who just told me he has high blood pressure recently and they told him he is lucky that he hasn't been affected badly by it cos he was unaware.. A man of 31 years of age.. School has threatened him to go home and he is still owning over 5k p |
Ejid1:Some will say why are u still there? Why not come back, you can't be telling us what to do from there. Do you know the suffering in Nigeria. If you no succeed come let others replace you. Stop discouraging others. You didn't plan well. You didn't research well. Someone was saying he wants to leave his 4 million job and come via student visa with family. And I asked: is your life under threat? Have you being kidnapped? He said no. He just want a better life for family, he could earn here well. I just like Said how things are with prove and evidence. He said he rather stay back then. Why will someone leave 4 million income even if its 1m moving business u are leaving that for an unknown not even a work visa a student visa? |
Ejid1:That's why I have been pushing the narrative that please if u don't have ur fees stop coming. You can equally start telling people in WhatsApp groups because most are unaware of situation |
Noerection:Your hatred for South East will consume u all. |
![]() Why closing down markets? Is that how to get the criminals? Look for intelligence and corporations from the people and if possible place a bounty for information to get to those criminals. Not innocent people please |
RodgersAkpafu:Even though with forged POF. Then with exchange rate going for 560 with 2.8m you can get almost 5000 pounds. If situation too hard u sell one land for village and convert and clear fees or u borrow from friends But today 5000 is almost 10 million... How many land u want sell or who fit borrow person that kind money in Nigeria. This are the issue |
RodgersAkpafu:Nigerians are really going through hell in UK. This are people doing literally well in Nigeria. Resigned their jobs, sold their lands, cars etc only to come to face hard life to the fullest. |
, The payment of minimum wages is only applicable to people that have up to 25 and above employees in their organization.

pay by hand ke where u see am. Can u even get to see the director or owner of thr company?
