A Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday frowned at the refusal of four officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to appear in court over alleged $8.4 million and N4 billion fraud case. Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu had on July 1 issued a warrant of arrest for the four men following their repeated refusal to appear in court to answer to the fraud case charges against them. The Federal Government had through the Special Presidential Investigation Panel on the Recovery of Public Property charged them over alleged misappropriation of the sums belonging to the NFF. The officials are NFF President Amaju Pinnick; NFF Secretary, Sunusi Mohammed; the 1st Vice-President, Seyi Akinwumi; the 2nd Vice-President, Shehu Dikko; and an executive member, Yusuff Fresh; as the 1st to 5th respondents respectively. Pinnick was exempted from the ordered arrest due to his official roles as a member of the Confederation of African Football’s organising committee at the African Cup of Nations in Egypt. Justice Ojukwu said that their duty was to be in court when ordered as the charges against them before the court had not been cancelled. She said that when an order was given, it was expected that such order be obeyed otherwise matters from such agencies will no longer be entertained in her court. “Nobody is bigger than the law,” she said. Counsel to the defendants, Mohammed Katu, said that the respondents were absent because the president had instructed that the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) take over the case from the office of Special Presidential Investigation Panel. He said that the AGF had earlier called the attention of the respondents to his office and in view of the recent development he believed the AGF would do justice to prosecute the matter. Justice Ojukwu said that the defendants had no reason to appear before any agency thereby constituting a parallel hearing in disobedience to the court when the matter was already before a judge. Ojukwu adjourned the matter to October 5 for arraignment and ordered that all affected parties be in court. http://igberetvnews.com/1025230/judge-furious-as-pinnick-dikko-other-nff-officials-shun-court/

Celebrity publisher, Dele Momodu, has said that he is no longer keen on contesting elective positions. Momodu contested the 2011 presidential election as a member of the National Conscience Party (NCP) but lost to former President Goodluck Jonathan. Momodu had left the Labour Party in controversial circumstances following lack of support from leaders of the party who allegedly wanted a presidential candidate that would put in at least N2 billion into the coffers ostensibly for electioneering. In response to a fan who called for support for the publisher of Ovation Magazine to run for 2023 presidency, Momodu said on Monday that he was no longer keen on elective offices but would be available to support candidates. “Thanks so much but I hope I won’t offend you if I say I’m no longer keen on elective office. I will be available to support candidates rather than parties until we see ideological differences between them,” he said. http://igberetvnews.com/1015621/im-longer-keen-elective-offices-dele-momodu/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique

News reports say that Wike gave the commendation, Wednesday in Port Harcourt, during the commissioning of the ultra modern Rumuwoji Market as part of activities marking the first 100 days of his second term in office. Governor Wike recalled how Governor Fayemi's intervention helped douse the tension that was brewing over the issue of mosque demolition in the State earlier in the month. Governor Fayemi, in a short remark before commissioning the market complex also hailed his Rivers State counterpart, Governor Wike for his developmental strides in the State. The Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa on Friday attended thanksgiving service at the Government House Chapel in Asaba after the election tribunal upheld his victory. It was earlier reported that the Delta State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal upheld the victory of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in the March 9, 2019 gubernatorial election. The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Chief Great Ogboru, had dragged Okowa to the Tribunal over alleged over-voting and other allegations during the voting exercise. Delivering judgement on Friday, however, the three-man panel of justices said the petitioners failed to prove their allegations beyond reasonable doubt. The Tribunal, therefore, dismissed the petition for lacking in substance and merit. The governor in celebration of his his victory stormed the Government House Chapel for thanksgiving. “Today, at the Thanksgiving Service at the Government House Chapel in Asaba, I emphasized that our Lord God Almighty, has once again given us victory with today’s ruling of the election petition tribunal. With today’s ruling, we must now move forward. I call on my brother, Great Ogboru, the candidate of the APC in the March 9th gubernatorial election, to partner with us, and all Deltans, as we work to build a #StrongerDelta for everyone. It is my fervent hope and prayer, that the God that has brought us this far, will continue to bless and guide us, as we work to direct the affairs of our state and unite all our people,” he wrote. http://igberetvnews.com/1009375/tribunal-okowa-storms-church-dedicates-victory-to-god-photos/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, was visibly angry on Friday as service chiefs shunned a meeting he convened to discuss the security situation in the country. Instead, the military top brass sent representatives who were turned back by the leader of the nation’s lower legislative chamber. Igbere TV gathers that a visibly disappointed Gbajabiamila, who described their action as an insult to the parliament, promised to report the matter to President Muhammadu Buhari. The speaker then postponed the meeting to Monday morning, while apologising to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu; Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Bichi, and Comptroller General (CG) of Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammad Babandede, who were present at the meeting. Gbajabiamila noted with dismay that the act of shunning the invitation of the parliament by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Abayomi Olonisakin; Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai; Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas, and the Chief of the Air Staff (CAF), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar was uncalled for. He said it was a sad development since all arms of government are supposed to work in unison for the development of the country and the benefit of Nigerians. “Let me, first of all, commend Mr President for the commitment he has shown in trying to stem the spate of insecurity in the country. Mr President has to have people he would delegate those powers to as the Commander-in-Chief as dictated by our constitution.http://igberetvnews.com/1008577/gbajabiamila-fumes-as-olonisakin-buratai-others-shun-meeting/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State on Friday said the tribunal judgment dismissing the certificate forgery allegations against him and upholding his election was a triumph of truth over falsehood and a sweet victory for the state, Igbere TV reports. The opposition People Democratic Party (PDP) made the allegations against the governor. “This judgment affirms the truism that never will falsehood triumph over truth nor evil over good till the end of time — no matter the efforts or public grandstanding of the purveyors of such falsehood,” Governor AbdulRazaq said in a statement by his spokesman, Rafiu Ajakaye. The statement said the judgment confirmed the long-held position of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) that the entire allegation was malicious and a tale by moonlight. “For us, the judgment serves as a tonic to go the extra mile to build a polity where players will be motivated only by truth and the dream of serving our people and not by unbridled ambitions,” the statement said. “We thank their Lordships for their erudition and well-considered judgment. We express our profound respect and gratitude to our legal team who meticulously and professionally handled the provocative issue with admirable comportment and superior knowledge of the law. “While we were always confident of victory since we had nothing to hide, there were some Kwarans who felt concerned that some persons were bent on either causing confusion or going through the backdoor to get whatever Kwarans did not give them at the poll. It is to this end that we most sincerely thank Kwarans for their support and prayers while the case lasted. We also assure them that we will follow through on the steps being taken to build a Kwara that is prosperous and is the pride of all.” http://igberetvnews.com/1007911/certificate-forgery-kwara-governor-abdulrazaq-hails-tribunal-judgment/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique

A former presidential candidate, Oby Ezekwesili, has claimed that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration used Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as “cannon fodder” for the alleged bad economic policy decisions made by the president, Igbere TV reports. Igbere TV gathers that cannon fodder is a term used to describe combatants who are regarded by government or military command as expendable in the face of enemy fire. Ezekwesili, in reaction to Buhari’s constitution of a new Economic Advisory Council on Monday, said Osinbajo is not to blame for how the Nigerian economy had turned out because he “had no power over core economic policy decisions.” The president had dissolved the Economic Management Team head by Osinbajo and constituted the Economic Advisory Council to advise him on “economic policy matters, including fiscal analysis, economic growth and a range of internal and global economic issues working with the relevant cabinet members and heads of monetary and fiscal agencies.” The council has Doyin Salami as chairman, Mohammed Sagagi as vice-chairman and Chukwuma Soludo and Bismark Rewane, as members, among others. Speaking on the move, Ezekwesili noted that the economic advisory council system was copied from the American presidential system. http://igberetvnews.com/999280/new-economy-team-osinbajo-used-dumped-ex-minister/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique

President of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has spoken against parents who send their children for studies abroad without having the means to cover the cost, Igbere TV reports. The preacher in a tweet late Saturday advised that parents who cannot foot the bill for such trips should only have their children study abroad on scholarship. According to him, parents who have difficulty paying for their wards’ study abroad end up blaming anyone who refuses to help. “I still don’t understand why people send their kids to school abroad knowing very well they can’t foot the bills. They start scavenging for funds and blaming anyone who refuses to assist them. It makes no sense to me except on scholarship. Nigerians have attacked the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) over a policy which requires a fee of at least N25, 000 for online adverts, Igbere TV reports. Igbere TV reports that the new policy states that all Nigerian brands are now required to “fulfil all necessary obligations” by the council before placing their adverts on the digital space which includes social media and websites. For any ad concept to get clearance the advertisers must pay a minimum fee of ₦25,000. Acting Registrar of APCON, Ijedi Iyoha, told Techpoint during a recent phone interview that before any Nigerian brand can put up ads online, it needs to first get approval from the council. The council is believed to be looking into including small business owners who advertise online. Defaulters face six months imprisonment or a fine of ₦500,000 from the council. Nigerians have attacked the council on Twitter, saying it does not have consideration for the growth of small businesses. http://igberetvnews.com/986178/nigerians-slam-apcon-over-online-advert-fee/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique

Igbere TV reports that the Tribunal on Wednesday ruled that President Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the February 23, 2019 presidential election fairly. As tension continues to mount over the ongoing xenophobic attacks on foreigners in South Africa, some South African drivers have encountered difficulties in crossing the country’s borders to Mozambique and Zambia. In a video which surfaced online, South African drivers could be seen being held up at border points by Zambians and Mozambicans. Tyres were set on fire on a road connecting South Africa to Mozambique. It is believed that the obstructions were caused by those protesting against xenophobia in South Africa, Igbere TV reports. Truckers carrying deliveries were targeted specifically by the communities, who had to be dispersed by police. It was reported that at least five Africans have been killed in attacks on foreigners in South Africa this week. The attacks on foreign-owned businesses in Gauteng area of South Africa have sparked a tidal wave of reactions, with Nigeria, in particular, taking a firm stance against South Africa. The West African country had boycotted the current World Economic Forum event in Cape Town. Watch video;

Nigerians have hailed President Muhammadu Buhari on his recall of the Ambassador to South Africa, Kabir Bala, over renewed xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa. The Federal Government had also pulled out of the World Economic Summit (WES) holding in Cape Town, South Africa on Wednesday, in a sign of worsening diplomatic relations between the two countries, Igbere TV reports. The move is seen by critics of the government as the strongest since news of the attacks broke. Nigerians on Twitter have hailed the President and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, over the decision, calling for more action. http://igberetvnews.com/962088/nigerians-hail-buhari-on-recall-of-ambassador-to-south-africa-over-xenophobia/

RavenClaw:Thanks to you all, I appreciate. I talked to my father today, he supports both what I said and what my mom said. He said he don't want me to disobey my mom. What I just hate about him is that he feels because he's not the one paying for all my expenses, he has no control over the family. He always supports my mom or nothing. The man that want to employ me said he'd like to me my parents before we go to Lagos together. But since my mom won't accept and my father will also follow what my mom says, I'm thinking of letting the man meet my bro only, then I move with him.
