There's so much that people do not understand about Ekiti politics. The writer is calling on the intelligent ones to save the state, but need I remind him that the people have given the elite the opportunity to write their names in the good books of history, but they've failed the electorate.

In 1999, Adeniyi Adebayo, an elitist governor was voted for en mass, but what did the people get? 4 years of nothingness. Fayemi had his chance as well, in fact, the electorate(including Fayose), gave everything to see that he got his stolen mandate from Segun Oni and the PDP. There was so much hope and belief in him, the people risked and laid down their lives, protested daily until their duly elected leader was given his mandate. What became of it? Another 4 years of nothingness.

If you study Ekiti politics well, you will understand that there's a distrust between the 'intelligent elite'(what does this even mean?) and the people. The people don't trust these elitists because they've not brought development, they've only just come, seen and looted. This is where Fayose fills the gap for them and that is why he thrives.

On the election, I believe PDP had plans to rig if it wasn't going their way, but in the end, they didn't need to, the people voted for Fayose. Ekiti people aren't stupid, if they love you, they show you. They showed Fayemi by helping him claim his mandate from Segun Oni, and I see no reason why they wouldn't have done it again, if they voted for Fayemi in 2014 and found out their votes didn't count.
