'' “Sentiment globally is less positive than it was on emerging and frontier markets and it is probably floating over to Nigeria,” said Paul Clark, a money manager in Johannesburg at Ashburton Investments, which owns Nigerian stocks including Seplat Petroleum Development Co. “Fundamentally, I don’t see any reason why the Nigerian market should be weak.”'

Seems the news of some in-house fighting between 2 executive directors of GTB and the CEO Segun Agbaje may not be unconnected to the last minute fall we saw in the price of GTB today.
A friend just informed me that 2 directors of the bank (head of corporate services & corporate banking) have resigned following from some irreconcilable differences with the CEO.
In the interim, I do not think this can have any negative impact on the banks operating model/performance. ...'cause as far as I am concerned, GTB remains the strongest coperate banking brand in the country.
However it could be that some insiders in the know may have already begun to react negatively to the news.
...investors almost always tend to overreact to market related trends.

We continue to observe.

Don't you think q2 results would lead to some rise in june ending/july
everyone is waiting for dat bounce or relief support
mkt looks overdue, prices hv fallen to massive oversold levels on all time frames ..
if the bounce only makes a lower high , den expect bearish continuation afterwards
if the bounce breaks us back above 40k for example, den Agba is right about the ''deep correction''
wen will d bounce happen ? it anyone's guess

HOW ZENITH ALMOST TOOK ALL OF MY PROFIT FROM TRANSCORP AND OANDO
On 30th May, I remember buying 350,000 units of zenith bank at 26.2 because I thought the bull was around, more so that diamond, fidelity, fcmb and transcorp (among others) went on a sudden full bid. Minutes later, the bulls started losing strength so I immediately sold all the units at 26.10. At that point I was pained because of the loss and the broker's fees which all came up to almost 210,000 loss in just a few minutes.
Looking back now at the price of zenith bank(25.50) today, I have no regrets. I would have lost more than the dividend would have given me. I even think I can get it at 24.
crazy times . . we wud still witness much lower prices in wks to come sef

MARKET CLOSES WITH BULLISH ENGULF cool

Today, NSE market closes with a bullish engulfing candle. This is accompanied by nice increase in volume. Technically, this is an indication of a temporary reversal. Looking ahead, the market needs to overcome resistance around 40500 - 41000 (chart 2) before a longer uptrend could be established. Else, bears could resume duty if this resistance proofs to be strong for the index.

Chart 3 is the monthly outlook of the market, if tomorrow last trading day in May could be bullish and we have a pin-bar on the monthly chart, then this will be similar in pattern to 2014 when the year started bearish and lasted for another 4 months before the appearance of the pin-bar which marked the start of another 2 month rally before the heavy fall.

Something must be special about MAY - 30/05! wink

I think qty traded and on offer are significant. The former tells the story from the buyers end while the latter from the seller's end. If qty traded is not much despite much offer it shows that there is resistance to price fall and the fall is not sustainable. Its a PANIC SELL. If qty traded is much and qty on offer is much as well, that is a scenario for GREAT WORRY. Price fall will continue, bottom is remote. That is what was experienced between April and August 2015. FPI exited without mercy. I am of the opinion that the current trend is trying to mimic that period of 2015, but I'm strongly hoping it's a false alarm cos politically and economically things are much better than they were in 2015.....#personal opinion

74 Important Trading Psychology Truths

Good read (10 mins)
http://tradingcomposure.com/trading-psychology-truths/

Emphasis on dis part :
40. Trading is a path of losses. If you know what you’re doing, you’ll make sure to reap small losses. But sometimes unfortunate events will cause you to take bigger losses. If you’re any good enough at this game, you’ll make money in spite of that.
41. At its core, it is not losses that make you suffer. What makes you suffer is some idea or belief that you’re holding too tightly.
42. A person who hasn’t made peace with his past losses is likely to accept future gambles that would be unacceptable to him otherwise.
43. If old losses still trigger deep emotional pain within you, it means you haven’t healed yet. And you won’t release your potential as a trader until you do. Remember the lesson; let go of the pain. What helps:
Journaling
Mindfulness
Exposure therapy – a.k.a. trading small
44. Stop trying to avoid losses. You can’t! Instead make sure they don’t get out of hand. And then maximize your profits.
45. Don’t resist losses; Embrace them and know them to be small turbulences on your way to your destination.
46. Profits and losses come and goe in a probabilistic manner. Which means you don’t know for sure what will show up next. Accept this.
47. Win, loss whatever emerges in the short-term, place and manage your next trades untouched, unattached… always keeping your eyes on the long-term picture.
48. When you learn to let go of the need to be right, being wrong gradually loses its power to disturb you.

Happy Nigeria blah blah

Trends

- When the 50-day moving average pierces the 200-day moving average in either direction, it supposedly predicts a substantial shift in buying and selling behavior. The 50-day moving average rising above the 200-day moving average is called a Golden Cross, while the bearish piercing is called a Death Cross

- The 20-day moving average commonly marks the short-term trend, the 50-day moving average the intermediate trend, and the 200-day moving average the long-term trend of the market.

- ''most'' not all stocks hv broken all 3 MA's , its one thing to read about such breaks , its another thing to see them happen
