When it's being sold for less at NNPC filling stations, what's crashing about the price? Except FG subsidize, Dangote won't sell below 1,000 naira |

Politics / Re: NNPCL Demands ₦4.7 Trillion Petrol Imports Refund by gabbasin(m): 10:18am On Aug 09 |
NNPC is just demanding for money spent on petrol subsidy from FG. |
Politics / Re: Tinubu, A Tyrant In The Making - Farooq Kperogi by gabbasin(m): 8:42am On Aug 05 |
Kperogi should understand that petrol is still being subsidized in Nigeria today, maybe he meant petrol price should return to pre May 29, 2023 rate of 167 naira. And if we are to return to this rate, where's the resources to pay for the subsidy. Everyone believes it's just to sit down and apply a theory on governance till they now get the throne and find out that it's easier said than done. |
Politics / Re: Only NNPCL Can Buy Dangote Petrol – IPMAN by gabbasin(m): 7:59am On Jul 29 |
Sadly, this is the reality, NNPC is the sole importer of petrol because it's being subsidized, Dangote will sell petrol at international price as it's being done with diesel and aviation fuel because he got the crude at international rate, no marketer can buy from Dangote to compete with imported petrol subsidized by NNPC. I believe there must have been a template already to take care of this when Dangote refinery starts rolling out petrol. If not that petrol is being subsidized in Nigeria, the price would have been at par with that of diesel and Jet A1 1 Like |

I agree with the prof. I don't see anything wrong in spraying someone cash at a party. What negative impact does this act have on the economy. Misplaced priority by EFCC. |
Politics / Re: It Wasn't This Bad Under Military - Jimi Disu by gabbasin(m): 2:14pm On Jul 27 |
There's no miracle that can save Nigeria with our (both the leaders and the led) mindset. Economically we've been going down drastically since the civilian government of Shagari and the successive military regimes that came after him couldn't reverse the trend. Even with the advent of this Republic starting with Obasanjo's second coming the economy is still on the downward slope. The fundamental problems are there but our leaders are not ready to face it squarely. We are a country with very low productivity, many able bodied men and women are jobless but they have to feed and this makes them to resort to crime. Politicians in position of authority are less concerned about the situation because the resources from oil is okay for them to live ostentatious lifestyle which is at variance with sufferings of the people they are supposed to help find ways out of their predicament by formulating policies to stimulate job creation, conducive business environment, investment in agriculture and food security. Most of us erroneously believe it is the business of government to put food on our tables and this is the reason why we fail to think outside the box to engage in productive activities for sustenance. Even if we have change of regime today, it will still be the same story of "we've never had it so bad". No regime has been better than it's predecessor in terms of the economy. From N3.50k per litre of petrol in 1999 to to today's staggering price of between 600 to 800 naira as successive regimes raised pump price in view of economic realities of the time. The worst days are not here yet 1 Like |
Politics / Re: ‘nil From 2017-2022, $2bn In 2023’; Sudden Surge In Petroleum Import From Malta' by gabbasin(m): 10:16pm On Jul 25 |
NNPC isn't the sole importer of petroleum products in Nigeria, there are other licensed importers of petroleum products but due to subsidy on petrol by FG through NNPC's "under recovery" scheme, it's not profitable for these companies to import petrol but they still import other petroleum products like diesel and aviation fuel (jet A1). |

Politics / Re: Truce Meeting Between Dangote, NMDPRA, NUPRC, NNPCL Fails To Resolve Imbroglio by gabbasin(m): 1:27pm On Jul 23 |
Either Dangote import crude or get from NNPC, when he starts rolling out petrol, the pump price won't be less than 1k except FG sustain the subsidy regime. The battle is between a capitalist and corrupt offials at the helm in NNPC. The only advantage Dangote offers is the local production of petrol products which offer employment opportunities and reduction in foreign exchange wastages in importing fuel. While the petrol subsidy corruption will be eliminated in the NNPC, Dangote will be benefiting from subsidy payments from FG when his refinery begins petrol roll out. Diesel is around 1,200 but petrol is much less due to subsidy by FG. Both petrol and diesel should be almost same price if determined by market forces. At the end of the day Dangote will win as FG won't let an investment of 20 billion dollars lie fallow to the advantage of shenanigans in the petroleum establishment 1 Like |

Foreign Affairs / Re: Dems Urge Biden To Withdraw From Presidential Race After Shocking Performance by gabbasin(m): 4:51pm On Jun 28 |
Eboski:in 2015, Jonathan of PDP avoid debating Buhari. In 2019, Buhari of APC shy away from the presidential debate while in 2023 Tinubu of APC stay away from the debate while Atiku Abubakar of PDP in the last minute ditch the debate on learning that Tinubu who's his main opponent won't appear at the debate. So ditching the debate has always been the incumbent president either of APC or PDP avoiding being roasted at the debate due to their poor performance at the helm |

This will still not justify their modus operandi of banging into hotel rooms kicking and slapping lodgers who offer no resistance to arrest, EFCC should be more professional in their sting operation conduct and respect people's rights. If it's cheaper for the marketers to import, so be it. The downstream sector is deregulated and marketers should have options to either buy from local refiners or import, no one should be forced to buy from Dangote, if Dangote wants patronage it's prices should be reasonable 9 Likes 1 Share |

Politics / Re: Abike Dabiri-Erewa Visits Rescued Nigerian Girls In Ghana by gabbasin(m): 4:14am On Jun 12 |
Those days, it's Ghanaian ladies that come to Nigeria for ashawo work, but nowadays the reverse is the case as our girls are being trafficked to Ghana for prostitution. While the Ghanaians that were into this hustle in Nigeria are matured grown up women, our own are mostly underage girls deceived into the trade in Ghana. This shows reversal in economic fortune/misfortune for both countries |
