Politics / Re: Alleged N4b Fraud: How Obiano Laundered Anambra Security Votes, By EFCC by gabbasin(m): 9:15am On Mar 14 |
Security vote being drawn by governors is meant to be siphoned, that's why when I heard some governors saying they won't collect salary, I just laugh on the ignorance of those who hail them for the decision. Those governors will get 100 times of that salary from the security vote. One of the steps to reduce corruption is to abolish the so called security vote 1 Like |
Politics / Re: Soyombo To Customs: Investigate The Murder Of 2 Anti-smuggling Informants by gabbasin(m): 11:46am On Mar 11 |
These smugglers are dangerous and murderous as they don't spare any informant either perceived or real, I was in the same Ado Odo years back driving around town when I realized I was being trailed by guys on motorbike, seeing a bike trailing me create fear in me thinking I am being trailed by robbers, I had to drive back to the town center, then these guys flag me down and ask me of my mission, I told them I am in town to attend a party, so they asked me the name of the celebrant which I did as the celebrant is a well known person in the town, they now let me go because they realized I am an innocent stranger. When I narrate my encounter to my host, he told me that the part of the town I was heading to when they started trailing me is a smuggling hub and there's a river nearby which is a smuggling route, and being a strange face in a strange car, I was taken for an informant or a security official on mufti. My host had to advise to be cautious driving around the town as I was lucky not being harmed before being challenged by the guys on motorbike 2 Likes |
Politics / Re: Nigerian Government Owes N100 Billion In Electricity Bills – Distributors by gabbasin(m): 11:17am On Mar 11 |
Why are the indebted government agencies not metered? metering will go a long way to stop this level indebtness and enhance efficiency, but when the discos prefer crazy billing in the name of estimated bill rather than making sure customers are metered and pay according to consumption. It doesn't make sense when as a metered customer I consumed 2k worth of energy last month while my neighbour on estimated billing with less gadgets than me is billed 13k for same month. Seems the unmetered customers are paying for the discos inefficiency. To meter customers is now a challenge to discos, even if you want to pay to have the meter is still cumbersome and depends on availability. |

The only election that's clear LP won in Rivers state is that of President. Not minding the shenanigan perpetuated by Wike, but the rest election as postulated by this man is highly doubtful. If we are to go by his words, it means Fubara he represented at the event did not win the gubernatorial election |
Politics / Re: What 188MW Geometric Power Plant Means For Aba Residents by gabbasin(m): 11:20pm On Feb 26 |
G00dharddick:abia state having 24/7 power supply is not only good for Abia and the south east but for Nigeria in general, it's a good development for Nigeria and it will be beneficial for the rest of the country in more than one way. If Abia is removed from the national grid, there will be more power ration to other areas from the grid. The Abia template if successful as envisaged will be a template for other states, and most importantly it will reduce the overpopulation of Lagos as most Abians and other south easterners will move to Aba to invest and work due to the development to be derived from uninterrupted power supply 5 Likes |

Haiti of Jean Claude Duvellier aka Papa Doc and his son Baby Doc, Haiti has been a bastion of political instability, natural disasters and poverty. Haiti is far away from the African continent but the African mentality in them hasn't been influenced by the continental separation. Crime / Re: Trader Shot Dead In Anambra Market by gabbasin(m): 9:46pm On Feb 19 |
If you think state police will be panacea to the current state of insecurity in Nigeria, you should have a rethink. Instead of state police being the solution, it will rather worsen it, there will be abuses by state police officers, citizens will be harrased, more rights abuses, collision with criminals and proliferation of weapons. Imagine state police operatives being owed salaries and turning rogues. The lasting solution to insecurity is good governance |

Politics / Re: Fresh Bill Seeks The Creation Of 3 More States In The South-West by gabbasin(m): 2:57pm On Feb 13 |
Dead On Arrival, the lawmaker is a jester, he knows no bill as this will ever be passed into law, but when he has nothing tangible to contribute in the house, he will raise this kind of bill to prove he's doing something for his constituency and zone. It will be difficult if not impossible to create any more states with the hurdles thrown in the process by the constitution. Even creating additional local government is almost impossible talk less of states. The LGAs created by some states are not even recognized by the constitution and they are there for administrative purposes 1 Like |

Crime / Re: Four Cattle Herders Abducted, Killed In Ogun State by gabbasin(m): 8:51am On Feb 12 |
As Ilobi Òkè irinja is the hometown of the IGP, I expect security to be beefed up in that area. The herdsmen and their herds are destructive and I believe they must have been warned by the community on their destructive tendencies, as they refused to heed the community warnings, the people had to take the law into their hands by eliminating the herders. I prayed the herders won't now mobilize to attack the community because that's their stock in trade. I hope the people living in that area are not sleeping with their 2 eyes closed. 1 Like |
Travel / Re: Cross The Highways & Pay N50,000: Use Pedestrian Bridges Instead - Lagos Govt by gabbasin(m): 11:29pm On Feb 11 |
I don't know the parameter that makes Lagos state government to impose the fine of 50k, why not 5k? With our prisons overcrowded, we'll have a lot of stubborn and ignorant pedestrians in prison for this minor infraction, and this is another way for KAI officials and policemen to make money by baiting unsuspecting Lagosians to fall victim and extort them. Most laws especially that of traffic are draconian as those in authority know that culprits will be the already tormented masses. The traffic law and punishment for contraveventions by confiscation of vehicles and motorcycles for plying one way roads for the former and restricted roads for the latter is a typical example of the draconian nature of these laws. 1 Like |

Politics / Re: Government Approval Delays Dangote Refinery Fuel by gabbasin(m): 2:42pm On Feb 08 |
aribisala0:don't you think the refined products should have been in the market by now, or you think Dangote refines to store the products in the refinery. Pricing of these refined petroleum products is strategic and can be volatile. Things have to be carefully thought out, the commercial side and the economic impact have to be weighed. Petroleum products especially petrol is at the heart of Nigeria's economy |

aribisala0:delay in getting the refined products to the market |
Politics / Re: Government Approval Delays Dangote Refinery Fuel by gabbasin(m): 10:42am On Feb 08 |
I can say categorically that the delay has to do with pricing, they are being careful on how the market will react to the prices, any pricing higher than the current price of diesel and aviation fuel will make Nigerians skeptic about the benefit of the refinery and will dash hope of a reduction in petrol price when the refinery begins petrol production |
