donproject2:
To me, this Otedola bridge is cursed, I can't count the number of accidents that have been reported from this bridge alone so far.

It was on this particular bridge that God saved my life one time like that.

I hope no casualties.
otedola bridge isn't cursed, the terrain of the road will always be recipe for disaster especially for heavy duty vehicle descending and ascending the bridge. Roll back while ascending the bridge is common among heavy duty trucks especially in traffic hold up. The solution is reconstruction of the road to reduce the slope

PoliticsRe: Nigeria Spends N930bn On Fuel Imports In February Despite Rising Local Refining by gabbasin(m): 12:03pm On Mar 10, 2025
Eriokanmi:
so, is the situation now the same? Has their plans now achieved and are the feelings actually accurate? Whenever you think monopoly, you first think NNPCL, not dangote who came on board to break it. The facts are there today. It's a plan to defraud the nattion in the name of subsidy payment as usual. Who will now clear those billions of naira losses they recently declared? We shall see.
petrol is no more being subsidised since Dangote start petrol supply, if NNPCL is claiming any money now, it's what they've spent during the subsidy regime they want reimbursed.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Spends N930bn On Fuel Imports In February Despite Rising Local Refining by gabbasin(m): 11:56am On Mar 10, 2025
Lookmun:
Your comments assumes an ideal environment but where you have people in high places directly profiting from importation, then cost wouldn’t matter and irrational decisions will be taken at the detriment of the economy. Petrol is the major import item for us so if we encourage importation of it, the value of the naira as well as attendant problems of a weak naira will persist. Rather we should encourage local refining as a means to curtail capitalist tendencies.
Local refining are being encouraged, 3 new licenses have just been given, by the time the local capacity can meet up with demand and NNPC refineries are up and doing, this will be the beginning of real competition in the sector, not now that Dangote is holding the ace
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Spends N930bn On Fuel Imports In February Despite Rising Local Refining by gabbasin(m): 12:07am On Mar 10, 2025
Eriokanmi:
Whose fault? When I told you dangote isn't the mopoly that the apc illiterate supporters were ranting about, they didn't believe it. Dangote came to rescue them from the shackes of their slave drivers but they didn't know. Before the August 2024's refining commencement date, dangote said he'd flood the market with his product at a cheaper price and the NNPCL (the real monopoly) kicked, just because they wanted the status quo of subsidy scam to be maintained and codedly. The same NNPCL backed by cabals had refused to allow our refineries to work for decades despite wasting billions of dollars of tax payers money on TAM.

Dangote fought them dirty and they said his petrol was adulterated, meanwhile the ones NNPCL imported from Malta blending facility owned by mr man was found to be impure. From there they hijacked the downstream operations and dictated the selling price to marketers and the excess goes to their pocket and he accepted. Dangote only kicked when the NNPCL said they'd still appoint 3 marketers to complement dangote's local supply because he's unable to meet up.

Dangote came out with figures, that he could even exceed local supppy, now went to court to obtain a court order against NNPCL moves, which he later withdrew as advised by his associates but NNPCL went ahead as planned. Dangote had slashed price twice and now, the marketers appointed to import are crying over billions of naira losses. We knew their games from the start but these illiterate guys didn't.

The question is, who will now take care of the billions they lost? The phc refinery is nothing but a blending facility and I remember yelling this on nairaland before kyari now said there's nothing wrong in blending.

Nigeria will gain true independence any day we nip tribalism in the bud. We're not ready yet. Sadly, the masses keep being shortchanged, the same people who are supporting these scammers called leaders.
there's nothing wrong in importation, we can't create a monopoly, if Dangote produce enough petrol and his price is cheaper than that of imported, definitely no one will want to import. But if importers feel landing cost can still compete with Dangote's price, the tendency for them to import will be there
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Spends N930bn On Fuel Imports In February Despite Rising Local Refining by gabbasin(m): 11:54pm On Mar 09, 2025
Most of our comments here are out of ignorance, there's the Petroleum Industry Act that says petrol can be imported to augment local supply shortfall. NNPC haven't imported this year only licensed private importers did. And there's nothing bad in importation as it is to compete with local refineries so as to make the market competitive. If the local refineries pricing is cheaper than that of imported, no one will dare want to import at a loss. The more the sector is deregulated and no subsidy payment from government, competition will be beneficial to the consumers. Allowing importation is OK to checkmate monopolistic tendencies from local producers. Assuming there's no importation, Dangote wouldn't have brought his price down, competition forced him

FoodRe: Why Lagos Rice Is Hardly Seen In The Market – LASG by gabbasin(m): 3:33pm On Mar 09, 2025
Failed project, I know from inception that the rice mill is a deception to give impression that Lagos state is doing something about agriculture, the much touted LAKE rice is only heard during the yuletide where rice are bagged in the branded "Lake Rice" bags and sold to civil servants at discounted prices.

PoliticsRe: NMDPRA Issues Licences To Three Oil Companies To Construct Refineries by gabbasin(m): 5:45pm On Mar 08, 2025
I can bet it, hardly will any of those licencees be able to successfully build a refinery as it will be difficult to get the necessary funds in a market that is being dominated by Dangote
PoliticsRe: I Stand With Natasha Akpoti - Bisi Fayemi by gabbasin(m): 5:36pm On Mar 08, 2025
I hardly see any woman that has contributed to this Natasha/Akpabio imbroglio with facts.
Natasha breached rules of the Senate,Later go on a TV station to claim she was sexually harassed a year earlier, claiming her refusal to give in to Akpabio sexual overtures is the reason she's moved from her seat, Her unruly act was referred to Senate ethics committee, she later submit petition to Senate about the harassment which was equally referred to the ethics committee for investigation. Ethics committee find her guilty for the unruly behaviour at the house and recommend sanctions which the whole house ratified. The unruly act of her comes up before she petition on being sexually harassed.
