PoliticsRe: "They Told Us Subsidy Was Gone, But Quietly Spent ₦7.1tn" - Rufai Oseni by gabbasin(m):
Subsidy was finally removed in September 2024, as at 29 May 2023 when PBAT announced subsidy removal and petrol prices jumped from 180 to 500 and to 600. NNPC had to intervene to keep the price at 600 as the landing cost of petrol was well over 600. When Dangote started producing petrol in 2024, NNPC is the only offtaker as no marketer can afford to buy from Dangote and dispense in a subsidized market. NNPC was buying from Dangote at a higher price and giving to marketers at subsidized rate. By September 2024, NNPC finally exit itself as the sole offtaker and Dangote Refinery started selling to marketers directly and this finally ends the petrol subsidy regime as fuel price rose to above 900. If Rufai Oseni is pretending not to know this, I won't be surprised because he knows what he's doing. Government did pay for subsidies in 2024.
BusinessRe: Cement Sold For ₦15k While The Rest Of Africa Buys Cheaper (See Price Comparison by gabbasin(m): 10:40am On Jul 14
Cement is 13k, still high though. If we are to make comparisons we need not exaggerate prices. How do you want me to believe prices in other climes when you don't get the price here right.

PoliticsRe: Party War: APC, PDP Clash Over Pantami In Gombe by gabbasin(m): 11:29am On Jun 18
I can bet, most of these candidates that lost out in the primaries and join another party to get tickets will be disqualified by the courts if they eventually get elected. I thought it's in the amended electoral law that one can't participate in primaries twice, and names of party members must have been submitted to INEC days before party primaries, how did political parties now submit names of aspirants that join them after losing out in a previous primaries of another party?
PoliticsRe: Wike, FG Bribing Judges With Houses In Abuja - Baba-Ahmed by gabbasin(m): 11:16am On Jun 18
In states, governors have been buying cars and allocating houses for judges and there has been no uproar, I don't know why this should attract any furore. Same Wike did these as Governor in Rivers state and no one criticised him.
PoliticsRe: Ekiti State Now Has 1,059,360 Registered Voters - INEC by gabbasin(m): 11:07am On Jun 18
I am particular about the downloadable copy of the pvc that will be avaliable for the 2027 general elections, it will help those of us with lost pvc and those who couldn't collect theirs due to logistics reasons. Imagine spending 10k to reach my local government headquarters for pvc collection, now I can comfortably download and print out a copy of my pvc. All thanks to the latest electoral law amendment.
PoliticsRe: Steps NDC Can Take To Win The 2027 Elections by gabbasin(m): 2:42pm On Jun 14
Here we go again, apart from the South East, parts of South south, Abuja, Kano and Lagos, the NDC largely has no presence in the remaining regions in Nigeria. You guys can only have agents and coordinators in areas you have strong presence. 2023 will repeat itself in 2027.
PoliticsRe: ADC Secretary In Gombe, Ahmed Gana Defects To APC by gabbasin(m): 8:08pm On Jun 06

Car TalkRe: I Lost ₦850,000 Because I Rushed To Buy A Car (what I Learned) by gabbasin(m): 9:45pm On Jun 04
When buying a used car:
1) Don't allow to be rushed by the seller.
2) Make sure you go with a trusted mechanic, some mechanics can compromise and bargain for a cut with the seller.
3) Test drive for possible defects
4) Don't be deceived by the newness of the engine oil
5) Take your time to analyse the defects noticed in the car, ask your mechanic if the defects are not expensive to fix and they won't have effect on the durability.
6) If you are the type that can do without A/C in your car, check for gas leak, most cars A/C are topped up when put up for sale as the cooling system must have been bad and "the gas just need top up" excuse by the seller might cost a fortune to fix.
SportsRe: Nigeria vs Poland: Friendly (2 - 2) On 3rd June 2026 by gabbasin(m): 10:02pm On Jun 03
Babaibe:
Okoye is not a match for nwabali. He is a useless goalkeeper
you only judge him by the goals he conceded, he made a double save, save lewandowski's one on one, and made some other saves. No goalkeeper can save the Polish second goal, though the well taken shot was taken outside box 18, it's a swinging ball that confused Okoye. In this match I rate Okoye 7/10
BusinessRe: Dangote Refinery Cuts Diesel Price By N200/litre As Importers Receive New Cargos by gabbasin(m): 9:53pm On Jun 01
Gboss247:
Are you aware of decades of burning substandard petrol has impacted on negatively on public health?
Have you ever asked yourself why some petrol evaporates quickly from your fuel tank?
Have ever asked your why you so-called cheaper product is not used in the country of production?
Have you ever asked yourself while the same Europeans are buying standard petrol from Dangote while you imported substandard one from Europe?
you're just churning out Dangote line of propaganda, as if na today I just dey buy petrol. Let me tell I have been buying petrol for decades, both for industrial use and for my cars. Don't say what yoh you don't know much of.
BusinessRe: Dangote Refinery Cuts Diesel Price By N200/litre As Importers Receive New Cargos by gabbasin(m): 10:15pm On May 30
Gboss247:
There is nothing like competition!
It either you keep buying the substandard petrol that knocks your engine or you buy quality petrol from Dangote
the "substandard" petrol we've been buying for decades before Dangote refinery, Dangote labelling imported fuel as substandard is just propaganda to make us believe imported fuel is cheaper because it's of low quality. In those decades of imported petrol, I only heard issues about "bad fuel" twice.
BusinessRe: Dangote Refinery Cuts Diesel Price By N200/litre As Importers Receive New Cargos by gabbasin(m): 10:00pm On May 29
Gboss247:
How does the importation of expensive substandard petrol from Europe checkmate Dangote premium petrol the same Europeans are consuming?
Petrol prices are tied to global oil prices and if you to buy below that, demand subsidy from the federal government and stop quoting imaginary competition and monopoly theories.
I am not asking for petrol subsidy, I just want competition in the sector, no doubt fuel prices are largely determined by international crude oil prices. My question is: why should Dangote be afraid of competition from importers? It can only mean his prices are not competitive enough, meaning the prices can go lower if competition is allowed.
BusinessRe: Dangote Refinery Cuts Diesel Price By N200/litre As Importers Receive New Cargos by gabbasin(m): 1:24pm On May 28
Gboss247:
Be at the mercy of Dangote?
Petrol prices are around the world are subject to global oil prices except the government subsidizes.
I'm not talking about international crude oil price determining fuel prices, we all know that. But leaving Dangote as the only determinant of fuel prices is a monopolistic tendency. Let's allow importation to checkmate Dangote and if his prices are competitive enough it will discourage importation. Dangote is the only one to discourage importation if he's giving us the best prices. If importers feel they can still compete with Dangote prices, they should be allowed. Say no to monopoly. We need to protect Dangote refinery though, but not at consumers' expense.
BusinessRe: Dangote Refinery Cuts Diesel Price By N200/litre As Importers Receive New Cargos by gabbasin(m): 10:02am On May 28
Gboss247:
Petrol price is determined by global oil prices and not the imaginary competition they scammed you in school
I quite agree with you, but without competition we'll still be at the mercy of Dangote on when prices should shift downwards when price of crude fall in the international market. With competition, consumers can still get marginal reduction on fuel prices
BusinessRe: Dangote Refinery Cuts Diesel Price By N200/litre As Importers Receive New Cargos by gabbasin(m): 8:34am On May 28
My question has always been why Dangote is afraid of competition, his refinery is in Nigeria and he's still afraid of competition from fuel importers. This gives me the belief that his products are more expensive than imported ones. If his excuse is that imported products are of inferior quality, have we not been using imported fuel before the coming on board of his refinery? Why is Dangote afraid of competition, if his products are prized competitively, no one will dare want to import fuel
PoliticsRe: 'Abia Has Completed 414 Roads, 82 More Ongoing' — Gov. Otti (VIDEO) by gabbasin(m): 12:21pm On May 23
414 roads? To list the roads now will be wahala. The only good thing coming out of about Abia state is the propaganda being parroted by the Obidients. If they are sure, they should list the 414 roads so we verify
AutosRe: How Much Is Corolla 2005 Engine by gabbasin(m): 9:38pm On May 18
If you are a reputable mechanic and customer to the dealer, he must have known your workshop and get the engine delivered to you at your garage. It's trust based on years of patronage.

AutosRe: How Much Is Corolla 2005 Engine by gabbasin(m): 7:59pm On May 18
I will advise you to get a mechanic that has credibility with Ladipo dealers, they will bring the engine to the mechanic to fix and payment made after fixing and mechanic confirm it OK.
PropertiesRe: Bricklayers Labor Charge For Lintel. by gabbasin(m): 6:25pm On May 11
If its just a bricklayer workmanship for casting a 2 bedroom bungalow which should not be more than 10 castings (windows and doors) in total. You should be able to negotiate it to 100k. It's what a bricklayer and his labour can do in a day.
You can get one or two other bricklayers to give you their charges. One of easiest job to do by a bricklayer is lintel casting. The labour guy will do most of the work of mixing granite, sand, cement and water together with pouring the mix while the bricklayer work is just to spread the mixing
Foreign AffairsRe: Ugandan Man Summons Swarms Of Bees In Court by gabbasin(m): 9:19pm On May 08
Believe this story at your own peril, Africa with it's munbo jumbo belief. Bees swarm around a courtroom, but because someone is standing accused in the courtroom so he's the one who commanded the bees to sawrm the courtroom so as to truncate his trial. The things we believe in this continent is why we will forever be far far behind in civilisation
Car TalkRe: Toyota Owners, What Is That Part That Frustrates You The Most? by gabbasin(m): 10:15pm On Apr 27
If engine oil is getting dry, it has to be oil leakage or wear and tear of the engine. Check for oil leakages around the engine and under the engine. If no leakages detected, it's most likely the engine is having wear and tear problem and it's either you change the pistons and rings or you get to replace the engine. I will recommend the latter.

Nairaland GeneralRe: Definition Of Status Quo Ante Bellum by gabbasin(m): 12:15pm On Apr 03
Status quo: the situation currently
Status quo ante bellum: the situation before the war. Anyone who's claiming INEC's interpretation of the Appeal court decision is wrong is either playing the ostrich or just being mischievous. If the Appeal court wanted the current ADC leadership to be at the helm pending the determination of the case at the High Court would have just said the parties should maintain status quo.
