The Igbo community residents in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has appealed the federal government to include Igbo people resident in Abuja in Board and other political appointments in the capital to give Ndigbo a sense of belonging in the present government.

The delegation of Igbo resident led by Eze Ndigbi of Abuja, Eze Ibe Nwosu, made this appeal on Wednesday when they visited FCT minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, in his office in Abuja.

In his speech to the delegates, the FCT Minister urge Ndigbo to support the present government, stressing that without their cooperation, the federal government would not make any achievement.

He said that President need supports from Nigerians irrespective of ethnic, political or religious beliefs, adding that president Buhari is working hard to make the country a better place for the citizens and investors.

Following the plan by the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) to rally across the major terrotories of south east to mark the 17th anniversary of the birth of MASSOB, the Delta State police command has deployed over 4,000 policemen to forestall the rally.

The rally was scheduled to hold today, September 13, across major streets of the south south and south east zone, by MASSOB.

According to The Sun, the State Police Command has mobilized and at the same time, started the deployment of policemen and ammunition to some strategic places to counter move by any group across the state.

Thegistbaze correspondent also gathered that Anambra State is not left out, as men in police uniform have been mounted in some part of the state like Nkpor, Nnewi, Ekwulobia and so on.

Speaking on the deployment, a source revealed that the mobilization is to ensure that breakdown of law and order are averted as was the case in previous protests.

The newest militant group, Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate (NDGJM) has stated its readiness to launch a massive attack in a bid to mock Nigerian army for the ongoing 'Operation Crocodile Smile' training exercise.

The militant group which described Nigerians armed forces as unprofessional and ill-trained men, said that the troops have constantly engaged in blind arrest and parade of whoever comes in sight as militants, including pregnant woman.

A lawyer to the Leader of Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB, Barr. Ifeanyi Ejofor has raised alarm over what he termed 'threats to the of his client'.

IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has being in detention for over one year for alleged offence bothering on treason.

Speaking with journalists, Ejiofor said that some tear gas canisters and bullets were recovered from Kanu's prison room after a riot that broke out in the prison on Monday, August 29.

He also disclosed the pictures of the bullets and tear gas canisters to the newsmen, expressing fear that his clients life is no longer safe in the prison facilities.

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State has released about N12 million for Sallah celebration in the State.

The Chief Of Army Staff, COAS, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, Thursday September 8, said that Army have deployed about three thousand troops to the Niger Delta region for its ongoing "Operation Crocodile Smile" exercise.

Hausa/Fulani leaders in Abia state, today September 9, met with Abia community leaders to sign peace agreement in a bid to prevent clashes between farmers and herdsmen.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has postponed Edo State governorship election , initially scheduled to hold on Saturday, September 10, 2016.

Giving reasons for the two weeks postponement, the INEC spokesperson, Nick Dazang, said that there are security threats in the state, which they can not just ignore.

He said that after series of consultation, security agencies advised them to retract their earlier stand of going on with the election, as the protection of life of voters and their(INEC) staffs can not be guaranteed at the moment

EDO - Witches and Wizards Association of Nigeria (WITCAN) has scheduled an emergency meeting, during which the winner of Edo gubernatorial election will be revealed to them.

Ex-US Congressman, Hon Robert Dornan has renewed his call for Biafra referendum, with a resolve to table the matter before the US Congress through his ex-colleagues and progressively press the matter to the United Nations, Dailyglobewatch had reported.

The United Nations' (UN) Report on Nigeria's Common Country Analysis, CCA, shows that Nigeria is deeply divided on the basis of plurality of ethnic, religious and regional identities.

The President of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe, on Saturday, denied ill health reports and rumors of his death midway to his Dubai trip.

Mugabe, always known for his jokingly lifestyle, said that he is real again, having resurrected from the dead.

A young boy (name withheld), today September 2, along Sterling Bank Owerri, Imo State capital, was nabbed after he snatched a mobile phone from a passerby in the street of the city.

The Nigerian army has continued to deploy troops and military hardware to the Niger Delta region for the ongoing 'Operation Crocodile Smile' exercise launched to dislodge criminals and groups described as threats to peace and stability in the oil reach zone.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, on Wednesday, August 31, landed in Nairobi, Kenya, to meet with entrepreneur and developers in the country in continuation of his first trip to Africa.

Unconfirmed report available to Thegistbaze has it that the Nigeria military and Niger Delta militants have crashed in the creeks of the militants, whereby many soldiers are reportedly killed while others sustained various degrees of injury.

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has call on the people of south east to go back to farming and stop depending on the food from the northern part of the country.

Okorocha while speaking to newsmen yesterday in Owerri, Imo State, said that South Eastern people will face a lot of challenges if the North cut food supply to to region.

“As we talk, the food we consume in the state, like rice, yam, tomatoes, pepper and beef, all come from the North.

"If the farmers in the North cut food supply to the South East, we will face a serious challenge,” the governor said.
