I understand how distressing it is to see these attacks continue. How many more will we endure before we seek the help we desperately need? We must consider reaching out for foreign assistance to address the threat posed by jihadists before it's too late. We cannot afford to wait any longer.
BusinessRe: Nigeria’s Currency Surges To 10-month High Against The Dollar by gabolak(m): 10:36am On Nov 01, 2025
DeLaRue:
That's unrealistic, nor is it necessarily a good thing. Such superfast appreciation may create new pockets of instability in the economy.

Naira reaching N1000 by December will be a nightmare for the CBN and the Ministry of Finance. Both will prefer a slow and steady rise.

Managing an economy is a delicate game a chess. For every positive development in one part of the economy (e.g currency) there is a potential negative effect elsewhere.

So while naira reaching N1000 by December looks good on paper, it will reverse most of the gains we have made in the last 18 months when we started exporting more and importing less. It will also reverse the ongoing efforts to produce more of what we need here in Nigeria.

If Nigeria hits N1000 by December, imported goods will become significantly cheaper next year, and the country will go back to importing more of everything. Yes, the man on the street will be happier, but long term the economy will become worse and more import-dependent.

The biggest short, medium, and long term beneficiary will be China where we import most things from. Over time, our own local industries will die a slow death. We will enjoy cheaper goods prices but our future children will have no jobs as our industries are hollowed out over time. We will basically become an economic colony of China

Yes, it is a good thing for naira to appreciate, but it is better for that appreciation to happen at a slow and steady pace to give the Ministry of Finance and the CBN time to make necessary policy changes.

I suspect the CBN would probably prefer naira not to reach N1000 to a dollar until around mid to late 2026, though I don't think they'll be able to control the timing of naira appreciation 100%. But, I can bet you that CBN will be buying dollars furiously if its data shows an impending destabilising naira gains. Buying dollars effectively means supporting the dollars against the naira smiley

Some may be surprised by the idea of the CBN supporting the dollar against the naira, but that is part of the job of the CBN. Support the naira if there is a need to, and buy (support) the dollar if there is a need to.

Since I agreed to some extent with your position, we can have naira at 1k to a USD by December and at the same time lock our door against cheap imported products by using higher import tariffs and duties.
This set of the economic management team can be trusted to be up and doing enough to do the needful when we get to that level.
PoliticsRe: Top 25 Countries With Lowest Monthly Salary After Tax by gabolak(m): 10:06am On Oct 31, 2025
This ranking is wrong.
The minimum wage in Nigeria is ₦70k and if converted to the USD with the exchange rate of ₦1445, it is $48.27.
Invariably, Nigeria is the number one on the list.
It is annoying to know that even with the high cost of living and high inflation, Nigerian workers earn the least in the world

The comment of the police is an issue for me.
What do they mean by his death is not natural?
What do they expect from an officer who carries Olosho to a hotel after he must have taken some sex enhancement and alcohol in a bit to enjoy his money to the fullest?

Them Neva see anything. Yh things are hard but Nigerians re wicked. Now it's festive season and all d poultry farmers add money for their chicken.
I can't imagine dat I will witness Chicken selling as high as 25/30k?
Our leaders re cruel bt we re heartless.
The opposition party needs to buckle up. This country needs to be saved from d hands of Tinubu nd his gang of Alibabas
Stop this your hatred towards the poor farmers please.
There is no point in trying to sell at a high price if the cost of production is low.
The cost of production is extremely too high these days and it affects all the sections of the economy.
Starting from the cost of a day-old chick to the cost of drugs and feeding everything is expensive now. Even common wood shavings farmers will have to buy at exorbitant prices these days.
Please direct your anger towards the people managing our economy, not the farmers who are victims of the mismanagement of the economy just like you.

The stampede occurred during the distribution of palliatives to residents from nearby settlements. Over 3,000 people reportedly gathered for the relief program, aimed at assisting struggling residents. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with many attendees arriving as early as 4:00 AM to secure their share.

The tragedy unfolded between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM when the crowd surged forward, leading to the devastating loss of life.

Is it bad for the NPA to have an office in London? The biggest city in the world? What if that’s a way of generating revenue for the NPA to become self reliant at the London office?
How will any sane president not want his country to have an efficient ports office in one of the biggest cities in the world.

But something is not right with us in this part of the world walahi, or how can someone be keeping his family in Dubai and be contesting to be the president of Nigeria?

Funny enough, you see people that have been so impoverished to the extent that they can not get access into the premises of an international airport, talk more of boarding an airplane, that will still be campaigning for them.
