Please guys, for people that get GMAT test waiver, is it possible to still get scholarship with that . Or would writing GMAT/GRE be of greater help in securing scholarship for MBA.

Also for full time MBA, which is better and easier to crack - GMAT OR GRE.

Thank you so much for responding.

Please my people, kindly assist me with materials for GRE or how do I go about it.

Thank you

Osidowu:

Firstly, You can get admitted into any course from any University if you meet the requirements. Regardless of your undergrad degree.

Secondly, most schools give admission with some form of merit based scholarship. Depending on the school or your application strength the funding could be either insignificant or significant.

Hence, You can get much more funding or fully funded if you submit a stronger or more competitive application by submitting a good GRE result.
Good luck.

Thank you @4dor.

4dor:

You are right about the cost of living being low because of the oil crises. It's not a smallish town at all, it's a large city. The University of Aberdeen is not in the city center, it's on Kings Street, Union street which is often regarded as the city center is around 40 minutes walk to the University of Aberdeen(Used to do that route on foot during Uni). I totally agree about your assertion on the economy, It's heavily dependent on Oil and tourism and both have been badly hit. Let me also add that University of Aberdeen is tough, you will get kicked off your course if you fail once, in RGU you will be given an opportunity to resit but will be kicked off if you fail again.

Thank you so much.

TheGuyFromHR:

Cost of living in Aberdeen should be quite reasonable now. Sadly it was hit by the 2014 oil price wahala so rents were affordable before Covid and should still be that way now. As for jobs, it's a smallish town (the University of Aberdeen is virtually in the city centre and Garthdee, where RGU is, is a short bus ride away from the city centre) and I don't think there would be many available this Covid period just like in other similar-sized locations until things pick up post-lockdown. As its a small town, you can reach everywhere you need to go on foot if you put your mind to it.

Out of those 3 universities Hull ranked higher followed by Bradford but job wise Hull is lacking, Bradford is a good student city but i think their fees is high, opportunity to get a job is higher though compared to other 2 cities. I don't know much about Middlesbrough job wise but i don't think it will be better than Hull

Good morning My People,

Please I want to make enquiry based on the courses I searched for and the Schools involved.

I checked for Advanced Chemical Engineering and noticed University of Hull, Tesside University and University of Bradford offer same.

I have interest in University of Hull and Tesside University due to their fees. Hull is about 9000 pounds , Tesside is about 13,000 for one year ,though my course is for 16 months, am not sure if there would be extra cost for the 4 months additional. University of Bradford is also about 21,000 pounds but I read somewhere on this nairaland about the School offering 5000 pounds discount.

Please my question is

1.Any idea about which of these Schools would be better for this course and the locations . What's the environment like as regards closeness to major cities.

2. Who has benefitted from the 5000 pounds discount from University of Bradford. Is it offered automatically or there are terms and conditions attached.

3. Any other School that can be suggested for this course(Advanced Chemical Engineering.

Thank you .

@Justwise and everyone, Kindly assist to comment.

Thank you. I have done that already.

I can't tell you what course you should do as you are responsible. I don't want a situation where you are just pursuing a course you have no interest in and just doing it because people said so. You should pass your MSc course to be given PSW and have job opportunities. I only gave you informed decision about PROJECT MANAGEMENT. Check Google of schools and see the entry requirements and what the it entails. Good luck.

Thank you so much Hosey.

Please, must the course I intend to do for msc match my bsc. I mean can I choose to study msc cyber security r Msc Information Technology despite graduating from Chem Eng and has no experience in Cyber or IT.

God bless you too.

See the two adverts with one showing working as a project manager and the other showing the integration of cyber security with Project Management.

As you can see, having APM PMQ and Prince2 Practitioner will make you get the job. Even one of them might be okay.

Note that if you have APM PMQ, you can do Prince2 Practitioner directly without you doing Prince2 Foundation. Also, any student can apply for APM Membership and it is free. You will be given student discount when paying for APM Qualifications from the official website.

NO ONE CARES ABOUT BSC AND MSC PROJECT MANAGEMENT TO WORK IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT IN THE UK. IT IS USELESS IF YOU ARE NOT CERTIFIED.
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 5 by Gambros: 8:43pm On Mar 25, 2021
Thank you so much. God bless you.

hosey:

Project Managers in the UK earn a lot so you will definitely meet the salary requirement to get a job. So no need to worry about shortage list.

You can do MSc Project Management at RGU but this is usually not enough to get a job. You should have Prince2 Practitioner and APM PMQ. These two qualifications costs about 3500 pounds in total if you do it with a training organisation. But if you self-study, you will spend less than 1000 pounds for both qualifications. Self-study will be easy as you would have covered most of it in your MSc Project Management course.

Another thing you can do is to do MSc in any Information Technology course in RGU. Then do both suggested Project Management qualifications. This will make you employable in both the IT sector as well as a Project Manager in any segment. You can also combine the skills to be an IT or Digital Project Manager. You can work as an IT Business Analyst which is on the shortage occupation list.

Good luck with any of your choices.

God bless you so much for taking out time to answer me and break things down as well. I appreciate you

TheGuyFromHR:

Even if you focus on those on the shortage occupation list, there is no guarantee that you will get a job in any of those roles.
Maybe you could try procurement, supply chain and related fields.

I can give you general advice about what is best NOT to do however, and

a) your decision not to do anything oil and gas is the right one
b) MSc Project Management is not really anything special job-wise, if you have project management in mind, you'd be better off getting APM-certified.
c) I know the city of Aberdeen very well, and if you have support there, there is nothing wrong with going to RGU as opposed to University of Aberdeen, the almost 7k difference in fees is well worth it and you'd be glad to have that money in hand in these days of scarcity of student jobs until things pick up post-lockdown.

Best of luck.

Thank you so much.

But am wondering other post graduate courses I could do since I studied Chemical Engineering. My mind was on Project Management but with this shortage occupation thing, I will have to tweak my search again.

My sister resides in Aberdeen which made me focus more on courses offered in RGU since University of Aberdeen Post graduate courses are quite expensive. And I don't want to do oil and gas courses.

I am now confused on how to begin this journey.

Please I need all the suggestions and necessary support.

Phatkings:

It's list not lost and you typed it the wrong way. It's shortage occupation list - meaning a list in which there are more jobs but less qualified or fewer people in that field
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 5 by Gambros: 5:20am On Mar 24, 2021
Thank you for responding.

But am not quite clear about what you mean by Shortage list. Can you help with more explanation and how do I access this list. I typed shortage lost on Google and alot of things popped up.

Bukiegbegi:
Hi,

I don’t think pm is on the project list. You’re better off going to a Russell group school if you want to do anything not on the shortage list. Check the rankings list too.
