filcast: I bought my Peugeot 306 automatic since 2009 and never experienced gear issues until last September. I actually want to replace the gear with direct Belgium but not sure of the reliability. Ikenna hardly responds like before. I hear he charges consultation fees now.

RZArecta: ive never encountered a failed gearbox in all my years of car ownership from American to European (the only Japanese was an 05 pilot). Are you saying the auto transmission in the 407 (‘09-‘10) completely useless or if I use original fluids (as usual) then I won’t have a problem at least for three - five years of ownership ?
Ps; a friend totaled his transmission (Toyota Camry pencil light) with Abro so I know the importance of using only original fluids
Some people say Peugeot auto gears are not reliable, i don't have one of it and never brought any of it(auto) my Peugeot 307 and 308 both are manual gear. However i have stated it in my previous post that i have friends who have/had Peugeot with auto gear without any issue of whatsoever but they maintain it accordingly(recommended oil been used). i can't assure you ,if you will experience issues or faults in regard to your Peugeot auto gears. Automatic transmission is not as reliable as the manual gear. You need to be aware that automatic gear requires special maintenance(changing of recommended gear oil at recommended mileage covered). I have friends who drives 407,307,308 and 508 with automatic transmission with no issue. If you desire Peugeot car with auto transmission then you should be ready for cost of maintenance and REPLACEMENT when it fails. .. as per brainbox question, i dont really know much about that but if you want a car with good auto gearbox go for Toyota it's less of electrical driven.

I dont really know much about Volkswagen but i can tell you that they are reliable like other European cars. All those who have been saying it got electrical issues (yes and no),Do you know why? because most of dia parts are driven by wires and you dont need to mess up the electrical components by guess work. I know of this because i am Peugeot person(driven by wires). If you are the kind of person who takes car to road side mechanics please stay away from Volkswagen, Peugeot and dia likes...they dont obey guess work or abuse. If you like the car and ready to invest in small car scanner which does not cost much, i recommend you go for it however make research on the best engine(i dont knw about volk engines). You might face issue with locking problem which is common on high mileage Volkswagen and it is fixable..

Surely one or more abs sensors are bad, first thing to do is to look for someone with Diagbox (PP2000) to reveal the fault codes stored in the car's memory....post it here.
Yes,that if you have internal bleeding and it can also cause back pain and joints aches too. stomach Ulcer can cause alot of issues including heart issue, anxiety, depression,bloody stool,shortness of breath, stomach cancer (rare),lightheadedness, dizziness,heart palpation( some are associated with durgs)etc. Go with contumely's advice that will really help. However you might have issue of parasites infection in your system so get a good worm expeller that might take care of your weakness and tiredness. Note, am not a doctor, my advice is based on my experience as ulcer patient..two years am still battling with it. Try also read about Acid reflux because you might also experience that too.. You can also try honey with turmeric for weakness and tiredness.
I'm not a doctor, but from the results u shared and a little google research i did, seems its gastric ulcer. Meaning d pain is usually in front of your abdomen, maybe close to your upper navel area. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Honestly, gastritis is about the easiest ulcer type that can be managed as long as you fully understand your body and your triggers. For the weight loss, you are not loosing weight due to your ulcer. You are loosing weight due to the many meds you are taking, loss of nutrients and stress. You are anxious and stress and that only makes ulcer pains worse.
Lets start with the meds you are taken. PPIs, e.g nexium, omeprazole, rabeprazole or lansoprazole. I've taken either of these at some point in d past. Lansoprazole is about the only one I have used with minimal side effects. Nexium sent me to the ER. What docs will not tell you is the nasty side effects that these meds have on the long run. They are meds that you should only take for 14 days or maximum of 28 days at a stretch and then you wait for your stomach to heal. Taking them for 2 or 3 months at a stretch isnt effective cos your body creates a dependency on them and it becomes difficult to stop. Some of them have side effects ranging from dry mouth, to heart palpitations, to tinnitus, to lightheadedness and insomnia. Long term ppi use has also been associated with magnesium deficiency, which could affect your bones in later life. So even though u are so focused on the ulcer, the meds could be doing much bigger problems. Gradually reduce your doses when you want to stop.
If you have to take any of these PPIs, take them in d morning before your breakfast. They are most effective then. Dont take them after a meal. PPIs work best on an empty stomach and can suppress the acid and make your tommy ready for the day.
Antibiotics. These ones do more harm than good. I haven't taken any in my tommy for over 5 years. They mess up your gut. They kill good bacteria that is supposed to aid digestion in your stomach. They make you weak and can even cause weight-loss. If your doc recommends it as part of your treatment because of h.pylori infection, it shouldn't be for more than 2 weeks. Afterwards just discontinue pls. Stay with PPIs for the rest of your treatment and dont randomly buy antibiotics to self medicate. You can do without them. I relocated to a country where you need a doctors prescription for most meds and that was when i realised i needed to break my dependency on meds. And i can tell you, you can do without antibiotics for ulcer.
For the food, trust me, your stomach cannot handle semo well because it is heavy and it is loaded with gluten and your stomach is sensitive due to the ulcers. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, and every food made from wheat, wheat flour has gluten. Semo is made from wheat so it has gluten. Same as bread, cake, and most baked goods. You may not get a doc to tell you all this, except maybe a gastroenterologist who has a versatile experience treating digestive problems. So you might want to reduce the quantity of semo, and rather focus on amala, rice, or choose pounded yam/poundo yam instead of semo. Yam doesnt have gluten. If you have to eat swallow, avoid egusi. Take ewedu, okro instead. Ewedu, also known as slippery elm, is used to treat ulcers and digestive issues in some parts of the world.
If you have to eat pap, make sure it is not hot. Lukewarm maybe. Try and get more fibre into your meals. Number 1 source of fibre for me is oatsmeal. Go and buy quaker oats and let it be a regular staple in your meals. I have oatsmeal almost everyday for breakfast. Its simple to make and you will get used to it. If you can tolerate milk, use milk with the oatsmeal in minimal quantity. If you can't, try tigernut milk, or any plant based milk like coconut milk or almond milk. This maybe quite expensive in Nigeria so u can use normal milk in minimal quantity.
Eat vegetables. Cabbage, carrots, efo riro with minimal oil. Oily foods will cause pain for you after eating. Increase your fibre and vegetables. I don't know why banana upsets your tommy, but it works for many people. If you can, instead of eating the fruits, make a smoothie by blending the fruits together with water or any other liquid. Drink d smoothie gradually. That way its easier for your tommy to digest the fruits.
This is a lifestyle change but trust me, you need to focus on healing your gut and focus less on d ulcers. Dont eat heavy. Eating 7 times a day in bits is better than eating 2 heavy meals. And please while at it, try to sleep well and dont stress.
I hope i have been able to share a little. Do your own research online. Watch YouTube videos and read books to understand your digestive system and how you can overcome ulcers. All d best.

My Peugeot 308 wouldn't start at first ignition, usually it starts during the second. Last week, it starts at the second ignition, while I was waiting as it warms; it went off. I repeatedly tried to start the car but it only cranks.
Ever since then, several checks are been run on the car but to no avail. I was later told that the ECU is locked and they needed access code to open it and reprogram it. After the provision of the access code, the car couldn't start.
Finally, I was informed that I will need to buy a new Brainbox for the car. Indeed, I'm still in shock.
Although I am a novice in the system, I need to consult experts and experience hands on this. I still can't believe that the car's failure to start could be linked to damage of the brainbox.

Get an expert who uses Peugeot specific scanner to know what is real cause..ECU and BSI dont go bad like that. Get diagbox aka PP2000

My problem started last year April (2018). I was diagnosed with typhoid and malaria. I was started on a course of treatment that involves anti malaria and an antibiotics (azithromycin). I noticed the quality of my sleep was dropping after taking the antibiotic for 2 days. My instincts was that it was the medicine. I eventually stopped taking it but by then my sleep have become badly affected. I woke up a Sunday morning after taking some drinks the previous night at a wedding with one severe type of headache ( I started the antibiotics on Thursday, took on Friday and missed it that Saturday) I continued that Sunday morning. So I eventually stopped all medicine and consulted a doctor friend. By then I had gone two nights with little or no sleep. He prescribed some drugs that was meant to induce sleep and even increased the dosage yet I still couldn't sleep.
Meanwhile before then, I am someone who could be called a sleeper. I can sleep at anytime without stress. I even take naps here and there in my office. So it was strange.
I eventually went to some hospitals and their treatment involved giving me sleep medicines and sometimes it could help me get very little amount of sleep and then it will make me feel very groggy and heavily fatigued. By this time a weird sensation have developed in the left side of my back head (this pain doesn't come and go... It is permanent). After spending some huge amounts I wasn't getting relief until I went to a neurologist. He first suspended all the sleep medications and started giving me amitriptyline 5mg every night ( after few days I started feeling better and had some deep sleep) but still the problem wasn't gone ( head pain and stiff neck).
I was paying about 30k monthly at the neurologists. It wasn't sustainable and I eventually stopped and decided to take my fate in my own hands. I eventually stopped taking any medication for sleep last November.
Between then and now, I have had some good nights where I slept very deeply and nights when I struggled. I have gone like 2 weeks without sleep issues. But still the pain in the back of the head and neck still persist.
Just yesterday I went to consult another gp and his diagnosis was that it was the poor sleep that is causing the pain in the head and neck. But I still find it difficult to believe. I will be having a video session with an Indian neurologist tommorow and I hope he will make a different diagnosis.
My coming here is to know if anyone have had an experience with my case and I would like to know how they solved their problem.
I will appreciate any suggestion that will be of help.

From my experience i had the same issue some times last year and little of it till now. Mine started with ulcer pain which i was given antibiotics and all sort of funny drugs for months. those drugs do more damages than fixing your problem especially antibiotics and that . What you are experiencing is Anxiety disorder with high blood pressure. You will also be experiencing lightheadedness("heavily fatigued" too due to side effect of the antibiotics. My advice for you is to monitor your blood pressure closely and that of lightheadedness will resolve by itself with time. Dont waste ur money on dose drugs.
Note: Possible issue Anxiety disorder for sure! sleep apnea Lightheadedness due to antibiotics Ulcer(Go for test) you will be surprise that you have. Probably All dis might trigger your blood pressure. All in all your mind set is important. It will not kill you but it will affect your social life for sure.Goodluck
joetem: Thanks so much, the Rewire did the scan and said the issue is the ECU but claimed he couldn't get its own in the market ( called sadam engine in ladipo). This is the second time I'm buying ECU.
Best is to check the cause of ecu failure before you install the new one that if your ecu is really bad. Peugeot marries its ecu,BSI and key together as a single unit. What fails mostly in Peugeot is the BSI due to serious abused or failure to follow PSA recommendations. As simple as wrongful battery procedure can mess up the bsi. GOODLUCK
joetem: What is the problem with my 407, it works fine when the temp is ok, the moment temp guage gets to 90, it losses power, and won't move beyond 30km/hr attimes I will have to stop and restart. Rewire said its ECU issue and he can't get in ladipo, he called them in Kaduna same. So he suggested I change the system to ew10. Is this advisable? Cc: ikenna
If you can't get pp2000 then look for any small scanner to pull out code. Work on those codes or post here. Guess work will not fix the car.
