All these people hailing the 206's fuel economy won't tell you that one electrical problem in that vehicle will wipe out all the money you may have saved for years due to its fuel economy


They won't tell you that the electricals are so sensitive that just one small wrong connection or electrical spark by a rewire, and you will be lucky to escape with just replacing the BSI and starter mechanism....both come together and work in pairs..replacing one means replacing the other and God knows what else..not to talk of other electrical issues that will just pop up out of nowhere and leave you stranded..

Op, peace of mind is much better than the small gain in fuel economy you will get with the 206 ...Get another vehicle ...

Peugeots, aside the 505 and 504 generations and before, are over-engineered and are likely to have u trekking when you least expect..

Guess you have used one before if not then stop hearsay.

It will work fine. Alot of 407 are equipped with 17rims( 205/55/R17…….)and for “The car is tad too low” i don’t know about that.

My 406 just goes off while in motion, might take one or 2 kicks to start again. I've changed fuel pump twice, camshaft sensor, still it persists

Did you run any scan before changing parts? I guess No. You are not doing the right thing.

Pls i am considering buying a Lion (206)
based on the good reviews i have heard from people using the car, esp fuel economy, pocket friendly maintenance and stability
but unfortunately, i was made to understand the Timing Belt does not really last long,

please, i will like to know if there is a solution to this, like if there is an original belt to use or i can always change the belt after a number of month or distance covered.

this is either Ew7/Ew10 engine. Both are very good engines, as regards the hard shift, I think your gear oil is low. Let a mechanic check and then top up if low.

Buy original timing belt or kits that should serve 80,000km or 4years and also use 5w40 or 10w40 engine oil(total). avoid abuse,run scan when needed. Dont remove thermostat and follow battery removal procedure when required. Goodluck.

Ikenna, I have a peugeot 307 sw stick shift. The problem is that I'm new to driving, I'm not very good at driving manual cars and I feel like to convert it to automatic. Do you think I should go ahead and convert it to automatic? Will there be any side effects? The car is fine, doesn't have any issues.

Easier to convert from auto to manual gear.If you want automatic gear then you have to sell your present car and go get automatic transmission.

You are right. T-IV for first generation while WS for 2nd generation reason been that the gearbox is designed by AISIN Corp.(partially owned by Toyota).alot of non Japanese car are equipped with AISIN transmission(peugeot AM6,Volve,Mini cooper by BMW etc).

The peugeot expert scanned the car to discovered it was the brain box that year and now we got the brain box and he came to fix it and still yet car did not start

Look for reliable technician.

Good morning all, pls I am having an issue fixing my peugeot 307 2002 old model.

I was using the car before it just refused to start and since then at has refused to start. I called my mechanic to check and he said is a rewire work and I got a rewire that worked on it and made me wasted money bcs the car still didnt start.
I went in search of a peugeot expert in ladipo and he came and ran a scan on it and told me it was the brain box that got issue but I was unable to replace the brain box then.
After 4yrs that the car has been left packed in my compound and went back to the peugeot rewire expert that we should get a brain box and fix the car which we did but the car still refused to start and the rewire is telling me is a mechanic work that light has gotten to everywhere it suppose to get to, I called my mechanic he said the plug is not shocking and there is no light in the wire self.
I called my peugeot rewire again and he told me he doesn't know wat he was saying and I asked him to come and check with the mechanic but refused to, so I had to get another rewire to help and check, same thing the new rewire said but he was able to check and realized some fused has cut and fix it back and light got back to the plug wire but the plug still not shocking and he checked all wire if rat has not eating any of it and he said all wire are ok.
Now I dont know what to do again, need help if anyone can help

Did you run scan on the car (Peugeot scanner used?) i guess no. If your car displays economy mode most definitely, The ecu has knocked out the key(s). My recommendation is look for an electrician who works on Peugeot only(who uses diagnostic tools). then Parameter test must be carried out to confirm if the key(s) are still present. common issue with phrase one 307, if battery procedure is been skipped. I can recommend good tech guy if you are interested. if na abuja u dey i for help you check am.
