NL prevented me from posting comments for over 24hrs but it's all ok now. On Ukraine Zelensky should sue for genuine peace not sending officials for meetings and agreeing to some conditions but still asking the West for weapons to continue to fight. ( Propaganda can help to an extent to win support but won't singlehandedly win you a war). You soldiers won't surrender but the Russians must not kill them! this is laughable in War. Ukraine is arming civilians to fight and will still claim Russian soldiers are killing Civilians! The lives of your people should matter to you as a leader.. He should Let trained soldiers and properly trained volunteers do the fighting not civilians...... Zelensky the Ukrainian fighters who remain in Mariupol are killed by Russian forces, it could spell the end of peace talks, President Zelensky says. / News News Mariupol may scupper peace talks -Zelensky , AAP APR 16, 2022 REUTERS Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has threatened to withdraw from the ongoing peace negotiations with Russia if Ukrainian fighters trapped in the port city of Mariupol are killed by the Russian forces besieging the city. “What they are doing right now … could put a stop to any form of negotiation,” Zelensky said in an interview with a Ukrainian news website published on Saturday. “There are troops there who absolutely hate them, and I don’t think they will let them live,” the Ukrainian leader said, referring to the fact that many of the fighters trapped in the city are part of the nationalist-dominated Azov Batallion, whose far-right leanings have been the subject of Russian media reports for weeks. The remaining Ukrainian fighters are holed up in the Azovstal steelworks, and Zelensky confirmed that the Ukrainian authorities remained in contact with them. Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, Mariupol was completely surrounded by Russian troops in early March, since when it has been under siege. Zelensky once again rejected Russian demands that Ukraine cede its territory to Moscow. “We do not trade territories and our people,” he said, adding that negotiations between the two sides were nevertheless necessary to end the fighting and to defend the Ukrainian state. Earlier on Saturday, the Russian defence ministry announced it had cleared the entire urban area of Mariupol of Ukrainian forces – other than the few fighters who remained in the Azovstal steelworks. In an online post on Saturday, the ministry said that as of April 16, Ukrainian forces in the besieged port city had lost more than 4000 people, RIA added. Russian forces have been trying for several weeks to take the port, which is on the Sea of Azov, a body of water to the northeast of the Black Sea. “The entire urban area of Mariupol has been completely cleared … remnants of the Ukrainian group are currently completely blockaded on the territory of the Azovstal metallurgical plant,” the ministry said. “Their only chance to save their lives is to voluntarily lay down their arms and surrender.” There was no immediate reaction from Kyiv to the statement by the Russian ministry, which also said 1464 Ukrainian servicemen had surrendered so far. Moscow said the total number of what it called “irretrievable losses” suffered by Ukraine totaled 23,367 people but did not provide any evidence and did not say whether this included only those who had died or who had also been injured. Hmmmmmmm! Former Ukraine president calls for weapons, sanctions on Russia Petro Poroshenko tells Al Jazeera the ‘shortest way to peace’ is to provide Kyiv with weapons. Poroshenko, who served as Ukraine's president from 2014 to 2019, was placed under investigation for high treason in December Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has appealed to the international community to provide his country with more weapons and to continue to sanction Russia over its invasion of Ukraine. “The shortest way to peace is to supply weapons to Ukraine,” Poroshenko told Al Jazeera. “From the international community, we need three things: weapons, weapons and weapons.” The former president also called on the international community to continue to sanction Russia and put an embargo on its products and close Ukrainian airspace to protect civilians. He added that the Western world should also “completely isolate” Russia and President Vladimir Putin as a way of putting pressure on Russia to end the war on his country. Poroshenko, 56, who served as president from 2014 to 2019, was placed under investigation for high treason and left Ukraine in December last year. He is being investigated for treason in a case that he says was cooked up by the allies of his successor, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Poroshenko was being investigated in connection with the financing of Russian-backed separatist fighters through illegal coal sales in 2014-15. He faces up to 15 years in prison if found guilty. His party has accused Zelenskyy of a reckless attempt to silence opposition. One of the country’s richest men, Poroshenko flew back to Kyiv in January after a month’s absence promising to help Ukraine fend off what was then a possible Russian invasion . A Ukrainian judge r ejected a prosecutor’s request to detain him and set bail at the equivalent of $35m. Russian ‘crimes’ Poroshenko said more than 20,000 Ukrainian civilians were killed by “Russian barbarians” during the war. He referred to incidents in Mariupol as a “genocide” and accused Russian troops of using chemical weapons in the city. Similar claims were made earlier this week by Zelenskyy, who said in a video address that tens of thousands of Ukrainians were likely killed in Russia’s assault on Mariupol. If confirmed, this toll would be by far the largest number of dead so far reported in one place in Ukraine, where cities, towns and villages have come under relentless bombardment and many bodies, including of civilians, have been seen in the streets. Poroshenko also called for an investigation into the “crimes of Russia”, adding that Ukrainians will not surrender or give up until their country has been freed of Russian troops. “We will never stop as long as Ukrainian Donbas and Crimea are occupied,” said Poroshenko. He also requested from “leaders of the Arab world” to not send their soldiers to help Russia, adding that he was specifically addressing the Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad which Russia supported in its civil war, which continues for 11 years. Before the Russian invasion, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu had visited Syria for talks with al-Assad, as his government had declared its “support” for Putin’s decision to recognise two Moscow-backed separatist-held regions in eastern Ukraine as independent. Appleyard:What happens one when present a formal argument while the other party throw cautious to the wind? Who is logical then? There is a limit to insult one can take before one respond. argument should be civil but what happens when the other party ain't civil? |
railone:Nitwit, Do you know what a T72BM looks like? You should read your post before posting such! you make comments a kindergarten kid won't make. So Reddit was actually on ground where the destruction of the said T90 took place? Did you even check out what a T72BM looks like not to talk of other upgrades? You're just a daft. |
railone:You're the one who kept jumping up and down! I mentioned France to tell you war ain't easy as you people think! Let me ask you, Are things that difficult for you to understand? Why do you surrender in a war if you're not been defeated? you surrender because of the fear of total defeat and rate of casualties! You know very little about War. Why do you keep shifting the goal post? You asked about base or so that the tanks were built etc instead of saying chassis!( You're a novice) You know nothing about Military equipment but just follow what you see. Is reddit pro Ukraine or not? is it owned by a neutral entity in this conflict? Yes or Know? You said pictures of T90 was sent, yes and I sent a picture of just one type of T72 but you guys kept moving in cycle. |
railone:You people put your mouth into what you don't know. The T-90 is not just a renamed T-72, while it has the same chassis as the T-72, it has a different turret, as well as gun, engine and capabilities in general. Are you ok now. They have the same chassis but different turret, gun, engine etc. I simply ask you guys to check the turret and compare but you people kept going to and fro. You spoke about the same Ka52 which are now operating in pairs to destroy Ukraine Militarily! They have done a lot of damage to Ukraine Militarily. Few might have been brought down but too few to change the war in Ukraine favor. You seem to amaze me with what you put out! Saying you take a capital eg Kyiv before you win a war ? You win a war when the other party is exhausted, demoralized, degraded and they lack the ability to continue to fight.Did turkey capture Cyprus capital before they made peace? Did UK capture Argentina capital before they surrendered Falkland islands? France was beaten black and blue by Germany during WW2 in a month of fighting. War is not child's play especially when you have lots of backers. As per Su35, several are still flying over Ukraine on bombing raids likewise Su34 and almost obsolete Su24 and Su25. Why haven't Ukraine destroyed all the Su24 and Su25 bombing them if it's that easy as you claim or say? US lost it stealth jet which they claimed was invincible over Yugoslavia to a Soviet obsolete anti missiles system used by the Serbs and they quickly took the remaining ones out of service.( They grounded them permanently). You people should get your facts right. |
railone:Look at a mofo who's saying someone talks too much! Who is moving in all directions? you or me! You must be silly. What part of English language don't you understand? Check Google image but you kept asking the same question in different ways. you've got low IQ |
railone:I have given you facts but it's like you're bent over believing what you want to believe. Russia is dealing with your Ukraine and it's ok for you to feel bad about it. Posting T72 as T90 won't win you the war even if you turn yourself to Azov battalion commander. Don't know what you don't understand! You guys posted T72 as T90 of which eg the same one you guys posted with Z sign close to the destroyed building is posted on Google image as T72! Russia gives vivid account of what they hit, Equipment, building, weapons, location etc but what do Ukraine do? recycle fake pictures and few automatic ones over and over again. They even posted a picture of Russia space rocket been pulled with a tractor by an Ukraine farmer.( They claimed it was captured) You people have been bursted why not move on rather than keep trying to force me to accept your propaganda? Why is Ukraine not dishing out info of Russians they claimed to have killed or captured? It should be around 300,000 now abi! Ukraine have at least 44,000 fighters in Donbass and they're still losing ground. ( The US is encouraging them to keep fighting instead of surrendering). IQ really matters!! Do people really think about the reason why the US and western countries shutdown Russian Medias and withdrew their license? It's to change the narrative and prevent a balanced report/view. |
railone:Stop being a dingbat!!!! Go crosscheck facts from fiction. Mouth breathers can't separate facts from fiction, so don't be like them. What was posted there were T72 tanks; you can even find some on Google image posts of T72 tanks. Ukraine and western medias have posted lots of images of destroyed and captured weapons only to be proven by propaganda burst podcast and other medias as fake. Let me calm you down a little; Ukraine is trying with Western support and military intelligence especially that of US but most stuffs they put out are fake while some are true. But in this case, it's T72. I grew up amongst Military people ( The army and Air force) and some went to become Generals before retirement and I got juniors and friends who are red necks in the Army, Air force and Navy.( Several of whom trained in the UK and USSR way back) I used to be like most people who think the US and the west are far more powerful than Russia till I sat with them in a closed office and they enlightened me of what they saw when they trained in those countries. ( Several of them got training in more than 2 countries as they were specialist) Won't say more. |
15-04-2022 News | Russia-Ukraine war Russia threatens to up Kyiv strikes over cross-border attacks Moscow says it hit a ‘military’ factory outside of Ukraine’s capital in response to ‘sabotage’ in Russia. Russia's defence ministry has warned it will intensify attacks on targets in Kyiv in response to any incursions into Russia by Ukrainian forces [Herbert Villarraga/Reuters] Russia has warned it will intensify attacks once again on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, over alleged cross-border assaults by Ukrainian forces. In a daily update issued on Friday, Russia’s defence ministry said it would increase the “number and scale of missile strikes” against targets in the city in response to “any terrorist attacks or sabotage” on Russian soil. The threat came after Moscow accused Ukrainian troops of launching assaults in Russian border areas on Thursday – a charge Ukraine denied – and coincided with reports of powerful explosions being heard in Kyiv early on Friday morning. In its briefing, the ministry said its troops had struck a “military” factory on the outskirts of Kyiv late on Thursday using Kalibr sea-based long-range missiles in retaliation for the alleged attacks. “As a result of the strike on the Zhulyansky machine-building plant ‘Vizar’, the workshops for the production and repair of long-range and medium-range anti-aircraft missile systems, as well as anti-ship missiles, were destroyed,” the ministry said. The blasts in Kyiv appeared to be among the most significant there since Russian troops pulled back from the area more than two weeks ago as Moscow announced it was refocusing its offensive on Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region. They were reportedly heard after the Russian defence ministry said the Moskva, the flagship of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, had sunk while being towed after being badly damaged. Ukraine claimed the Moskva’s damage was the result of one of its missile strikes. Russia’s defence ministry spoke only of a fire breaking out and of exploding ammunition. ‘Kyiv could become a target once again’ Reporting from the Ukrainian capital, Al Jazeera’s Charles Stratford said the reported attacks served as an “example that despite the withdrawal of Russian forces from this area, Kyiv could become a target once again”. Kyiv was first targeted in the early hours of February 24, at the onset of Moscow’s large-scale invasion, but Russian advances on the city and other areas stalled or were blocked by Ukrainian defences. Separately, Russia’s defence ministry said that its S-400 missile system had shot down a Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter which Moscow said had taken part in air raids on residential buildings in the country’s southwestern Bryansk region on Thursday. There was no immediate reaction to Russia’s claims from Kyiv, which on Thursday rejected accusations of cross-border raids by its forces and instead accused Moscow of staging “terror attacks” on its own territory to stir up “anti-Ukrainian hysteria” in the country. Al Jazeera’s Stratford said there were big concerns in Ukraine about potential so-called “false flag” operations by Moscow. “The Russians have repeatedly been accused of using … falsified pieces of information or falsified video evidence of a Ukrainian strike, according to the Russians, which gives them a pretext to retaliate and to strike Ukrainian targets,” he said. Russian border regions step up security measures According to Russian officials, dozens of residential buildings were damaged by the “air strikes” carried out by two Ukrainian helicopters in Bryansk. At least seven people were wounded in the attacks, Moscow said. Meanwhile, authorities in another border region, Belgorod, also reported Ukrainian shelling on Thursday. The region’s governor said the village of Spodaryushino had come under fire, leading to it and another nearby one being evacuated to “ensure security”. Al Jazeera was unable to independently verify the reports. The reported incidents came after authorities in Belgorod, Bryansk and two other Russian regions bordering Ukraine – Voronezh and Kursk – on Monday announced they would step up security measures over what they warned were “possible provocations” from the Ukrainian side. Posted his surrender immediately I got the info but some people where disputing it and trying to insult me then. The truth is coming out and others will. People should learn to be constructive in their argument and checkout facts. |
Igbofam:A trip to yaba left will do you well... This trip will make your ancestors to stop rolling in the grave at your insanity and the waste of resources used to educate and give you the little education you receive. |
smallrincowis16:You said it all Bro. |
Igbofam:You did insult me first as you were pained because your propaganda is burst. Google image showed your destroyed tank with Z sign as T72 tank. Same imagine, no addition or subtraction. You people won't verify but just post whatever you see so far it's boost your ego. Anyway, Do take a deep breath. Remembered when I posted the surrender of the British soldier ( Vet) to the Russians and people like you were trying to insult me instead of cross checking for facts. Today it has been confirmed and even on NL. More will be confirmed to be true. However, my post on NL is not to fight or insult anyone but to balance the news. I will only respond back in kind if anyone insults me. NL is to educate and enlighten each other not insulting each other. ( People should keep their emotions to themselves). |
Igbofam:Did you compare the image I posted to the one you posted a destroyed? Igbofam:You're an illiterate who's got cow Poo for a brain. Just go through the poo you posted and ask yourself if you're a nitwit or not!! I'm waiting for your response birdbrain. |
railone:Your claim is false if you can't post it then!! What I saw were T72s so post yours, you wey your data never finish! Or go try use free wifi if your data no go reach. |
railone:Post the pictures or videos of the T90 tanks destroyed as what was posted by Ukraine were T72 tanks! ( I saw the news and pictures but it's T72s that was posted) You people tend to post over 90% what can't be confirmed while I do copy and paste actual news for people like you to verify and what I actually know about. I verify information from various medias before posting the confirmed ones not someone just making something up to swipe their ego. Most of you were not even born during the Soviet union days but will post comments that are totally false. We know how Russian intervention in Afghanistan started and how it lead to war and watched the Russians cross back from Afghanistan into Russia way back. I laugh when reading some comments on NL but just ignore so as not to make some people feel embarrassed as my aim is not to fight anyone but to balance the narrative. |
14-04-2022 Greece explains why it won’t send more weapons to Ukraine Athens doesn’t want to weaken its own defenses Greece, 2021. © Sakis Mitrolidis/AFP Greece has announced that it won't send any more weapons to Ukraine because it doesn’t have any to spare, and can't afford to weaken its own defenses. The country has been among the states that have armed Kiev after Russia launched its offensive in February. “The defense equipment we sent to Ukraine came from our stocks. There is no issue of sending more,” Defense Minister Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos told the country’s parliament on Wednesday. “There is no way we can weaken any part of our defense, especially on the islands, by taking a portion of it and sending it to Ukraine. I want to make this clear.” Greece has already delivered military aid – such as portable rocket launchers, Kalashnikov rifles, and ammunition – to Ukraine. Athens, however, has refused Washington’s request to transfer its heavier, Soviet-made weapons, such as the Tor-M1 and Osa-AK air defense missile systems, local media reported. Western countries have been increasingly supplying Ukraine with weapons, ranging from tanks and armored personnel carriers to missile systems, after Russia attacked the neighboring country on February 24. Not all NATO members, however, have agreed to arm Kiev. Hungary refused to send any weapons, arguing that it was not in the country’s interests to be dragged into the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Russia attacked its neighbor in late February, following Ukraine’s failure to implement the terms of the Minsk agreements, signed in 2014, and Moscow’s eventual recognition of the Donbass republics of Donetsk and Lugansk. The German and French brokered Minsk Protocols were designed to give the breakaway regions special status within the Ukrainian state. The Kremlin has since demanded that Ukraine officially declare itself a neutral country that will never join the US-led NATO military bloc. Kiev insists the Russian offensive was completely unprovoked and has denied claims it was planning to retake the two republics by force. |
Police foil 'plot' to kidnap minister Four German nationals were arrested over a plan to kidnap the health minister and destroy power facilities German police have arrested four people on suspicion of plotting to kidnap public figures, including Health Minister Karl Lauterbach, as well as planning to carry out a series of attacks on power facilities with the intent to cause a nationwide power outage. “The two main suspects are believed to have agreed with others to mount an attack on the federal health minister,” said a spokesperson for the Koblenz prosecutor’s office on Thursday. According to the police, the group, which called themselves Vereinte Patrioten – German for United Patriots – were detained on Wednesday and found to be affiliated with anti-Covid-19 groups as well as with the far-right “Reichsburger” movement, which denies the legitimacy of the modern German state. State prosecutors claim that by carrying out the kidnapping of public figures and the attacks on German power facilities, the group “intended to cause civil war-like conditions” which would enable the toppling of Germany’s elected government and its democratic system. Investigators say they searched 20 residences and found a number of weapons during the arrest, including a Kalashinkov rifle, ammunition, cash, and gold and silver ingots. Police also confiscated mobile phones, data drives, computers and written documents pertaining to the group’s plans. They also noted that they had found forged coronavirus vaccination and test certificates. Health Minister Karl Lauterbach responded to the arrests by saying they demonstrated the radicalization of people protesting against coronavirus restrictions, adding that it went far beyond the issue of Covid-19. “There are forces that intend to destabilize the state and democracy. They are using the Covid protests. This is a small minority in our society but they are highly dangerous,” Lauterbach said. The arrest comes as anger in Germany has been on the rise over restrictions on those unvaccinated against Covid-19 as well as a government proposal to make vaccinations compulsory for the general public. Last week, German police conducted a series of nationwide raids against far-right extremist groups, involving almost 800 police officers. The authorities searched the residences of several dozen suspected right-wing extremists belonging to neo-Nazi groups. Authorities arrested four “key figures” believed to be the leaders of a group called Knockout 51. The federal prosecutor’s office claims they were involved in protests against Covid-19 measures in cities such as Leipzig and Kassel that resulted in violent clashes with police and counter-protesters. One of the arrested suspects was also said to be connected to the Atomwaffen Division – a neo-Nazi terrorist organization with ties to the US, which has been linked to at least five murders. |
