The National Defense Council is an inferior sub-council of the National Security Council that only has military people. Not being in it is not a sign of lack of importance.

The CDS is at the same level as the NSA. That AUTOMATICALLY and EFFECTIVELY means the COAS, CONS and CAFS are lower.

It is really poor logic to say because they don't report to the NSA, then they cannot be inferior.

CBN Governor does not report to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, that does not mean it is not a lower level role.

Ambassadors do not report to the Minister of Defence, that does not mean they are not lower level roles.

The NSA is just an adviser to the president on security matters, ha has nothing to do with service chief. The Chief of Army Staff, CHIEF of Air Staff, Chief of Naval staff all reporting to the CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF. The chief of defence staff then report to the MINISTER FOR DEFENCE, while the minister for defence report to the PRESIDENT. On any security matters reported to the president by the minister for defence the president then call in the N.S.A on action to take on the report and whatever its decided by the N.S.A and the president, will be transmit to the NATIONAL ASSEMBLY [IF NEEDED] So the NSA is not bigger than the service chief in any way

The CDS reports to both President and Minister.

I don't understand the fuzz about NSA. Service chiefs are only answerable to the C-I-C. NSA office is in advisory capacity to the President with no executive powers. Thats why there is no senate confirmation required for that office. He / She only provides advice on National Security concerns whenever certain executive decisions are being considered. It can be likened to having a legal adviser.

Is there need for Senate confirmation for any of the Service chiefs?

It is on the same level as Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).

One is responsible for investigation and intelligence. The other is responsible for action and fighting.

The CDS reports to the President and advises the Minister of Defence.

The NSA reports to and advises only the President.

The NSA is also a member of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) and National Security Council (NSC). The CDS is only a member of the latter.

That said, the CDS manages a larger body and has a much larger budget.

NSA is definitely above CoAS, CNS and CAS.
