Politics › Re: Seun! A Proposal Of A New Section. Clear Of Tribalism And Stupidity. by Gandollaar(f): 3:44am On Apr 03, 2020 |
Saifullah01: Hello Seun,
Your platform is one of - if not the most visited platforms by Nigerians for news, updates, discussions, constructive criticisms etc - on Nigerian issues and global affairs.
I have been a member for over 13 years now. I witnessed the civil old days where discussions were polite, educational and informative. I also witnessed the "great crash" when you lost some of the data and threads of old. But what we are witnessing now with the abusive, uncivilized and quite frankly misinformation that is pervasive now on this platform is abhorring.
The latter would have caused any sane person to leave the platform but Nairaland is more than a platform to us, it is a virtual Nigerian community and its sections represent our diversity.
I am suggesting you create a section or subsection (you may start with politics) where discussions and topics are civil and informative, where ideas are shared, sequence of discussions on threads are logical and constructive criticism thrives. These sections should be aggressively moderated with instant hiding of unruly comments and ban on their proponents.
When I joined Nairaland more than a decade ago I was based abroad and the forum provided me with a medium to feel at home outside home. That is still the case many in diaspora and in fact foreigners still surf the forum, but unfortunately the experience they get does not represent the essence of our society.
I believe it is possible with the team you have but ultimately it is your forum and the choice lies with you and you may choose to do with the forum what you will. Seun the capitalist would do no such thing. |

rusher14: Same here.
I was a visitor for a couple of months before joining as a regular but somehow feel betrayed.
It was a forum for intellectual discuss but now, it's just a medium for propaganda, hate, delusion and disinformation. And you are a major player in the hate and propaganda here. |
Politics › Re: Aba Made Facial Masks (photos) by Gandollaar(f): 3:17am On Apr 03, 2020 |
seborrhic: Little thing some Nigerians would start annoying chest beating. Many people at home around the world can make this diy home masks. The videos are all over YouTube. If they are so inventive, they should have produced the highly technical N-95 masks that requires more technical input. Innovation and chest beating only comes when someone or organisation can use just the principles of a complex or technical product and produce it using materials at his/her disposal. Why are they not manufacturing ventilators that even some people in the West are starting to produce using mere kitchen, automobile or even farm tools. Ordinary, not even that very effective face mask, chest beating has started. When they produce ventilators, only God knows the kind of noise people like that would make! which. One have you produced? Why not start producing the ventilator you talked about? |

We don't care about igbos
We hardly visit or live in your region
We hardly can tell the difference between calabar, Igbos and Ijo.
If not for your large numbers in Yoruba land, we might hardly have heard about you.
I hardly ever know the politicians in your region.
I hope you can digest that.. It's no surprise you can't venture out of your comfort zone. Even the little hustling you are doing is still within Lagos and immediate environment. You are probably from ekiti or ondo but I doubt you have been there gaan. You need to start going out. It's part of education. |

"To save me the trouble of responding to the mind boggling irrelevances of paid errand voices, a professional colleague kindly sent me an affirmative article in the New York Times.
"You will understand that I cannot take issues with a propagandist whose clear mission is to distract public attention from the complex issues of health - both the physiological and the mental."
I know he will respond, baba no dey ever like keeping cool with these opportunist but as far as am concern, federal govt can't just lock everyone up without provision to ease or encourage them, I think that's the position of Prof This Prof has without effort earned himself a reputation for being caustic. Politics › Re: Lagos Residents Hit The Streets To Protest As Hunger Strikes Hard Amid Lockdown by Gandollaar(f): 1:24pm On Apr 02, 2020 |
SoNature: While you raised some valid points, you must understand why governments around the world are implementing lockdowns.
The truth of the matter is that Covid-19 is a new virus, and researchers don't know much about it up till now.
It is veryyyyyyyy misleading to assume that the little you know about the disease is all there is to it. Yes, researchers are losing sleep just to understand it better even till today.
For instance, if you read some facts about Covid-19 on WHO website, you will see that there are many questions begging for answers.
In summary, you can only contain something you understand not something you don't. The idea of lockdown is to reduce human interaction to the barest minimum because it's the fastest way of reducing the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.
It's quite a pity that we always bastardize things in this country, including religion and lockdowns. Why is there no house to house testing? |

For a girl who wants to be seen as not sex inclined to be watching porn is preposterous! She is a liar and a pretender. On a lighter note, op says he doesn't want to marry a girl that's oversexed. nashito: Thanks for your advice. But I kinda don't like porn, they tend to make sex all perfect cos it is filmed and even sometimes the huge dicks we see there are just a mirage, if a woman gets addicted to it, and you don't make it happen exactly how it happens via porn videos, she might start seeing you as a lesser man. Oga this is 2020, everyone knows porn is scripted. |
