PoliticsRe: Nigeria To Attain 10,000 Megawatts By December, Says Presidency by gannod(m): 9:36am On Jul 03, 2018
grin
Omooba77:
ABUJA—The Presidency yesterday said it would deliver to Nigerians about 10,000 megawatts of electricity by December this year, saying President Muhammadu Buhari administration was on course with regard to its electioneering campaign promises.
“We have more power in terms of electricity than can be consumed by the DISCOs. We have 2000MW excess of electricity that is not being evacuated. Before the end of the year, we are going to hit 10,000 megawatts from the 2500 megawatts we inherited.
‘’The burden by government for now is how do we sell this power? How do we take it to Nigerians who need it,” the Presidency said.
Addressing journalists in Abuja, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, noted that the current tension in the country was because of competing interests, those who wanted to attain power at all costs.
According to him: “The problem is that the competition for power in the country has become fiercer and fiercer because the stakes are very high and I will give you one example.
“The President has unleashed on the country a war against corruption, the type that has never been seen before. Assets are being recovered from powerful people. The President is lucky that he has a judiciary which is transforming itself and on the same page with the President in fighting corruption.
“As I speak with you, you know that two former state governors are in jail. A lot of people thought that this war against corruption is a joke and that the back and forth that has characterized the process over time will continue..
“One of the two cases that we are talking about was determined after eleven years of back and forth between lawyers and Judges, kicking the ball from this court to that court. But now, there is a new era in the country with the conclusion of these cases.
“A lot of these harsh attack against the President are coming from people who had become used to life style that they can no longer sustain. We have on record that we have people in this country, that because they were influential, they have permanent suites attached to them in Abuja.
‘’They will just come, take the key and live lavishly a public expense. When they are leaving, they are accompanied by bags of Ghana must go. The President has blocked access to national resources by lazy people and so, he is being fought not because people are not happy.’’
Speaking further, he said: “This is a government that is building long delayed infrastructure.
This country will be a country of railways. There is no stage in the country where a minimum of two federal roads are not being constructed or being reconstructed.
“These things are building up, and I assure you that they will give up. As we inch our ways towards the election, they will continue to fight the President. The happiness that we have is that the ordinary Nigerians understand the huge conspiracy against them and are with the President.
‘’The elites are going places, sitting in posh homes around the world, trying to thwart the good will of the President towards the ordinary Nigerians. But this economy is being rebuild, more foreign investment is coming, more infrastructures are being provided for Nigerians.
“Even the security infrastructure which had suffered neglect over the years because all the people attacking the President on this matter, if they had done what need to be done by equipping and training the police, equipping and training the army, this would not have built up to a situation where they will be called upon and found short.”

Same with my Note 8. The device doesn't consume battery . What more do I need if as an heavy user, I could use it throughout the day?...

Get an s8, s8+ or note 8 and feel Samsung battery experience. Haven't used the s9 series though.

deluxegift:
Governor of Zamfara State, Abdul’aziz Yari, said he had no control over security machinery in the state, causing him to drop his responsibility as Chief Security Officer of the state .

The Governor, Speaking to newsmen in Talata-Mafara on Friday, Yari said that his decision stemmed from the seeming helplessness of the state government and the people over recurring killings in the state.

He deplored the prevailing situation where as the chief security officer of the state, he could not take decisions on strategies for protecting the state and its people, and had it implemented.

“We have been facing serious security challenges over the years, but in spite of being governor and Chief Security Officer of the state, I cannot direct security officers on what to do nor sanction them when they err.

“As Chief Security Officer, the nomenclature in just a name,” he said. The governor lamented that it was disheartening that killings in the state had continued in spite of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s order to security agencies to end the incessant blood-letting across the country.

myright:
Muslims, in Ibadan, protest ‘wrongful occupation’ of Palestinian land by Israel

By By Saheed Salawu on June 8, 2018
SOME Muslims have staged a peaceful protest in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, against the relocation of the United States embassy to Jerusalem and what they called the continued occupation of Palestinian land by Israel.

The protesters, in their scores, carried banners bearing messages that condemned the development in the Middle East. One of the leaders of the protest, coordinator of Al-Quds Foundation, Rasheed Attah, said despite the non-recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel by the United Nations, the US still went ahead to move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

He said Israel had been occupying Palestinian land unlawfully and committing different atrocities against the country since 1948.

Attah called on all peace-loving people of the world and nations with sympathy for justice and human dignity to not only condemn “this act” but sanction Israel, the US and their allies.

“We hereby call on all peace-loving nations of the world, human right groups, civil liberty organisations and all justice-oriented individuals to tread the path of justice and fair play like South Africa and Turkey by calling back home their ambassadors and stopping sitting on the fence in the face of oppression, domination and state terrorism of Israeli government,” he said.

He said not only Muslims are affected by the atrocities regularly being committed by Israel and its allies but Palestinian Christians are not spared as well.

Fayose's boy retaliated with stones. Next, we saw breaking news all over the dailies saying Fayose and his boys attacked Fayemi's convoy gently passing in front of Fayose's office from a campaign rally. Joevics:
All those who answered above are not from Ekiti, rather they are members of BMC.
Allow those from Ekiti to answer.
You are spot on. I am from Ekiti, Ikole-Ekiti to be precise. No matter how hard the OP tries to demonise Fayose, he is miles ahead of Fayemi in terms of projects done. All the dualized roads leading in and out of Ekiti were constructed by fayose. The old and new Governor's office were built by fayose. The trade fair complex, the Flyover bridge, the oja oba modern market, recruitments into EKSU(codedly) civil service, granting of soft loans to artisans. The elevation of teachers and prioritising of teachers' welfare. He brought down the tuition fee of EKSU from 100,000 to 50,000 e.t.c

Fayemi is the worst thing to have happened to Ekiti. Besides the government house (oke ayoba)that he started and completed, what other projects did he do? Fayemi is elitist,he doesn't care about the common man on the streets. He doesn't give a damn about the civil servants, teachers and the youth. Do you know how much students were paying in EKSU during Fayemi’s regime? #100,000 plus. He had penciled down the names of teachers and civil servants to be sacked before he was voted out. Why is he apologising to Ekitis if he did very well in his first term?
An average Ekiti person has a high IQ so we know who to vote for in the July election. Forget about Fayemi’s sweet coated tongue, he is evil. He also represents an evil, blood- sucking party. We don't want Ekiti to be the slaughter ground of the murderous Fulani herdsmen.
PoliticsRe: Ekiti Guber Race: What’s The Voice Of The Streets Saying? by gannod(m): 5:21pm On May 24, 2018
micronut:
Who do you think will win this Election, a friend asked. Prof Eleka or Dr. Fayemi?

See my opinion here.

Firstly, the election would be a tug of war, going by the already frenzy political atmosphere as at this morning, with a video going viral that showed how Dr. Kayode fayemi’s billboard was being openly destroyed.

See the video from suspected thugs from the link below.

To me, that’s so uncool. Which ever sides was responsible for that should tread with caution. Politics shouldn’t be a do or die affair.

Now to the issue, I wouldn’t want to go extensively on why Prof. Eleka wouldn’t be a bad choice, even though the fayose appendage is being largely painted as why he would be a puppet, which I wouldn’t agree totally with, but I will like to lightly put some things straight here.

By default, we all have our strengths and weaknesses and one of the big winning strengths of this man is an already working political structure that he will be inheriting from Oga fayose.

See Gov fayose’s clip of 3yrs achievement in office here in the link below.

Also his background as an academician will also put to rest, the perceived school of thought, of fayose’s love for anything informal. Being a university lecturer for 24yrs with administrative experience and a Deputy Gov for close to 4yrs, also mean much.

I believe he can deliver, I believe he will do something too and I believe he wouldn’t be a puppet as largely being flogged or insinuated.

I had same wrong notion about Gov Ambode, years back. I said he will be a puppet, I said he will disappoint Lagosians, I supported Jimi instead, but today Ambode has been doing excellently well, safe for few not too cool excesses.

Again, as a person, I also believe you don’t know the true test and ability of a man, until you give him power or a chance.

Who would ever think Prof. Osinbajo can be a possible good presidential candidate if supported, but today he is one of the two people that I still love in Buhari’s government, and the second is BRF.

Now on Dr Fayemi, I have this view of him…

You see, alot have been said about how the minister came all of a sudden to show interest in the governorship race and possible party betrayals, but one big problem with fayemi in Ekitis is that the people already know him, they know what best he can offer, the can predict his style of governance, and many are not moved by his candidacy.

Simply put, It is an issue of political see finish and an unimpressive past records..

A new person would have played a form of psychological confusion on Ekitis mind.

An Oni (Engr. Segun Oni or A completely new comer) would have been a better gamer or a sealer, with even me joining the squad, because I don’t do party, I do people.

If in Osun where I come from, If I see a better candidate from APC today, I’m giving him my vote, irrespective of many undoings of my Gov. Aregbesola, “baba Raufu oko Sheri”.

In short I think Fayemi lacks Ekitis street credibility and this is the plain fact.

If you want to know who the Ekiti wants, please let’s visit all notable towns in the state particularly, these ones; Ado-Ekiti, Ikere-Ekiti, Ikole-Ekiti, Ijero, Efon-Alaiye, Okemesi, Ifaki, Ilawe, Aramoko, Ise-emure, Iyin, Igede, Isan, Are – Afao, Oye, Omuo, Aiyede, Ipoti, Erinmope, Aiyetoro, Iworoko, Igogo, Awo, Itapa, Otun, Usi, Ido, Iyin, Igede, Ilawe, Ode, Ilupeju, Ikoro, Ikun, Iye, Ijesa-Isu, Ayedun, Aisegba, Osin, and Igbara-odo.

These are major places I know.

Let’s Interview no less than 50 people from different class of the societies in public places and see their preferred candidate and why.

I wouldn’t join them to be judging from Online polls, because guber elections in Nigeria aren’t E-elections, rather they take place on the streets.

Lets visit few Secondary schools, Let’s interview the teachers, and same for those at primary schools.

A trip to Local government staffs too will be fine, and meeting hospital workers will be cool as well. – This would form a review of the minds of the state civil servant. Do they think Eleka from fayose government isn’t bad or Fayemi is the best choice.

Again, the market women in their shops should be questioned or better put, opinion sampled, let’s see who they love to have as their next governor between the two.

Transporters like Okada men, drivers and other public road users should be asked questions. Data from These people will really educate us on how many of them truly have a voting card, how many are nonchalant about the upcoming election and what they think of the election and the two big political candidates.

The Artisans like carpenters, mechanics, bricklayers, plumbers, and other popular informal skilled labourers, that are common in most towns should be consulted too, to also hear their views.

Students in tertiary institutions should be engaged too, from Ekiti State University, students, to Federal University Oye Ekiti students, to Fed Poly folks, to the College of Education students at Ikere, to school of Health Tech in Ijero. All these folks are aptly political deciders and influencers too, bunch of them form the noisy social media constituency. Let’s see their electoral power too, beyond making mouths online/Social media.

Honestly, If I have the money, I would have loved to embark on a political fact findings like this, to know what is really the mind of the Ekitis, beyond the rhetorics that is being peddled around online.

I would also be doing live videos daily in 30days, to cover all the mentioned towns, except where the interviewed persons do not want to be filmed for security reasons.

My inquiries would put to test, and act as a mini opinion sampling, that can even be in form of questionnaires which will be answered by my research teams for the various respondents.

This would form the final conclusion for me, and put to rest, the belief, that Elections are usually rigged, even by people who have never voted nor visited the people (voters) to know what informs the voting pattern.

I hope to do this one day, starting from my state, Osun, When I have the financial wherewithal, and one that will be largely accepted by the masses and interested political aspirants to help them see beyond the “political rankadede” – of you are the one the people want by deceitful followers and supporters looking for what to eat, even when many would not win a single ward in the real exercise.

I hope this can be replicated across major states too..

But for now, let the people decide.

Eleka or Fayemi, the voice of the street count more.

Happily, election takes place on the streets majorly. What informs the opinion of the streets is what then we should pay careful attention too.

For political watchers, Ekitis July 14th, is worth waiting for, as it would be another major unforgettable historical event in the annals of the Nigerian political history.

This is what I think. God bless Ekiti. Ekiti o ni baje o ooo....Inn o kun oo

I am an Ekiti man, an average Ekiti man hates Dr kayode Fayemi and what he represents. He is elitist, arrogant and vindictive. With Fayemi, there is a disconnect between him and the masses, civil service and the teachers, why should they now vote for him?
Fayose has his flaws, but he flows with the masses, civil servants and the teachers easily. Conclusively, the worst of Fayose is better than the best of Fayemi.
PoliticsRe: Ekiti Governorship Election That Produce Fayose Full Of ‘hanky-panky’ – Buhari by gannod(m): 12:21pm On May 18, 2018
humbleofficer:
President Muhammadu Buhari has insisted that the 2014 governorship election which produced Governor, Ayodele Fayose was characterised by “hanky-panky.”

Speaking while hosting members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, South-West caucus to a dinner at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Buhari described the situation as an unfortunate saga.

The President urged APC leaders to do everything possible to prevent subversion of the will of the people again.

Buhari said, “This is crucial because I remember the hanky-panky that attended the last gubernatorial election in Ekiti State in 2014. I recall the firsthand account I received from some of the dramatis personae in that unfortunate saga.

“We must do everything to ensure that we do not allow any subversion of the will of the people this time round.

“Now that the primary is over and we have a candidate, all hands must be on deck to achieve a positive result.”
