There’s nothing to gain from the fact that Okpebholo speaks Esan fluently. That can’t be the reason they would leave a refined and loaded candidate over an APC candidate.

The reason APC won in Cross River is simply because the party was the only one that respected the zoning formula of the State while PDP stupidly damaged their goodwill by going against that arrangement.

Had PDP fielded someone from Cross River South like APC, APC wouldn’t have won.

Same thing happened in Ebonyi. The reason Nwifuru had it easy was that PDP stupidly allowed her ticket to be hijacked by somebody from Umahi’s village. No Ebonyian was going to vote for him, that’s how Nwifuru won because his candidacy was the only one that respected the zoning formula of the state.

You need to always put these dynamics into perspective before you start gloating and making it seem like these APC candidates won because of people’s love for APC.

APC didn't win CRS because of any single reason but because of three reasons.one,prince as an individual is very popular and loved like otti.secondky zoning,thirdly pdp was divided into wike and imoke faction.if it was zoning alone,the central and northern people jettisoned zoning,they were angling for sandy.it became a 50 50 battle until party division and funding helped prince.

Back to Edo,many people do not like APC as a party.do you think Edo north voted tinubu because they like him or APC? Many Edo north people I know hate APC and tinubu but because of the oshiomhole factor and what Edo north benefited from him,they voted tinubu.i told you before presidential that many people in ss will vote tinubu because APC has popular local politicians on the ballot not because they dislike obi.
Esan people don't like APC but they like okpebholo.he has been around since 1999 even before.he served late anenih who they cherished.he has projects in esan land even before contesting,he lives among them,relates with them,struggles with them,speaks esan, understand edo culture and you think they will leave him for a stranger who lived all his life in the west? Don't be surprised when you see unusual patterns from Edo North.

Edo South is not made exclusively of Binis, a significant proportion are actually Binis/Esans (even though they are the same people historically), this is same with the indigenes in Edo Central, and North. The separation into different dukedoms (in history) and senatorial zones of today was for some level of autonomy and equity in rulership. And majority of Edos recognize this and take it dearly.

That's why when Edos decide to support or fight for a person(s), the opposition go think say the universe dey against am.

I agree,the owan and akoko Edo are not happy on how oshiomhole has monopolized power for his etsako stock that is why during the guber and assembly elections,APC struggled to win there.even in central,igueben divided vote.
