The management of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex, OAUTHC has announced the commencement of sale of admission form into the Medical Darkroom Technician Training Programme for the 2019/20 academic session.

The programme has the objective of producing Medical X-Ray Darkroom Personnel whose duties are restricted to the X-Ray Darkroom and these duties include processing the X-Ray films used by the Radiographers among other duties.

The Programme also provides an advanced course for the already existing Medical X-Ray Darkroom Personnel.

Empowering them through training to carry out basic maintenance of auto-processor, accessories like cassettes, screen mounting appreciation and elimination of artifacts, management of waste products of processing solutions etc. On completion of training, a darkroom technician entry point is Grade Level 07 and can rise to Grade Level 13.

Establish baseline information on both natural and built environment including the socio-economic activities within and without the site relative to the project.

Propose, where necessary, technically viable and economically feasible mitigation measures to avoid, mitigate or compensate for the negative impacts of the project, and measures to enhance positive impacts.

An update on the ongoing strike by The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has it that the Federal Government had met one of its major demands.

According to the ASUU boss, the union had received the certificate of operation for Nigerian University Pension Management Company, NUPEMCO, from the National Pension Commission.

The refusal of the regulatory agency to approve the teachers’ union’s pension commission for operation has been one of the major issues in the dispute between ASUU and the Federal Government.

After receiving the certificate, ASUU boss went ahead to notify the members of the achievement. In his words, he said, “Dear Comrade, We collected the final letter of approval of NUPEMCO operational license at about 11.20a.m in PENCOM office. Profound appreciation goes to all who prepared the ground and made this possible."

“While congratulating all our members for this landmark achievement of the union, we also thank them for their patience. The struggle continues! Biodun Ogunyemi.”

Earlier, Prof. Ogunyemi told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, that the leadership was still consulting with its members over offers made by the federal government.
