AN activist who was raped in the shower shared every detail of her ordeal on social media - just minutes after the attack. Amber Amour, 27, shared a picture of herself crying in the shower and another snap of her undergoing an internal examination in the aftermath of the attack in November, last year. Amber was promoting her Stop Rape Educate campaign in Cape Town, South Africa, when the alleged assault took place. She revealed how she joined a 'friend' in the shower after the hostel where she was staying had no hot water. It was then that her alleged attacker 'Shakir' became violent and raped her. She wrote in a candid post on her Instagram page: "Shakir followed me upstairs and said he was going to take a shower. He invited me to join. I said yes because the water at my current hostel is pretty cold and after 2 days of being sick, I just really wanted a hot shower. "As soon as I got in the bathroom, he forced me to my knees. I said "stop!" but he just got more violent." Amber wrote about the assault in full on her Instagram page, telling how she even passed out during the vicious attack. She first started her campaign after she was raped in New York in 2014, revealing in Marie Claire that she felt compelled to speak up to support other survivors. She said: "I immediately knew that I couldn't keep what had happened a secret. Here I was, telling survivors every single day that they should speak up... I knew I had to practise what I preached. So the first thing I did was take a picture and write a post, describing what had happened. "It was almost an intuitive thing. I was still in the bathroom - in the crime scene. I don't even think I'd stood up. I just typed and typed. "I wanted to convey the message that no matter what a person does, they do not deserve rape, they did not ask for it, they did not put themselves in a situation. There were definitely details I could have left out - there were definitely details I wanted to leave out - but I knew that if I wanted to create a culture of consent, I had to tell the whole story, exactly the way it happened." Amber has continued to update her 23,000 followers on the case - and revealed her alleged attacker was arrested this week but later released on bail. The activist - who regularly posts pictures of herself naked - admitted not all her fans were supportive, with some even BLAMING her for the assault. One wrote: "You are honestly a disgusting excuse of a human. YOU ARE THE REASON ACTUAL VICTIMS LOSE CREDIBILITY." Another said: "It's beyond me that someone who was raped before and Educates on Rape would put themselves in a situation such as this." Amber reveals she has been having flashbacks of the ordeal after she returned to Cape Town this week. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/6844209/Activist-amber-amour-graphic-account-of-shower-rape.html cc: lalasticlala , ishilove lalasticlala

Mum-of-four Tracy was shocked to discover that hubby of 10yrs left his two kids to secretly marry another woman on Boxing Day WHEN her hubby of ten years had to spend Christmas with his relatives in Nigeria, Tracy Akingbogun hoped he’d return with a special gift to make up for their time apart. David, 43, had sorted out a present — for himself. He had secretly MARRIED another woman in Nigeria on Boxing Day. Mum-of-four Tracy only discovered the shocking news through a friend months later — and kicked him out. Heartbroken Tracy, also 43, says: “While I was at home with the kids missing him at Christmas, his present to himself was a new bride. “I still can’t believe he did that to us after more than ten years together. “I did some research and saw that the ceremony was a religious one and not a legal one. So he hadn’t committed bigamy. “His dad had five wives during his lifetime, so I suppose David thought he could do that too. “But not when he was living in the UK and not when he was married to me.” Tracy, from Gravesend, Kent, adds: “This Christmas it will be just me and the children again, just like it was last year. But this time I’ll be over the moon that David isn’t with us.” Tracy was a single mum to Cameron and Alysia — now 17 and 13 — when she met David in a nightclub while she was on a rare night out in March 2004. She recalls: “I was watching a group of lads on the pull, but one of them wasn’t. He was just leaning against the bar enjoying himself. He saw me watching him and came over to chat. “His name was David and he was really kind and gentle. He’d only arrived from Nigeria three months before.” David moved into Tracy’s home just six weeks later and Tracy was delighted to discover she was pregnant. Their son Kayodo, now 11, was born in December 2004 and they married two months later. Tracy says: “It was a small ceremony with a few family and friends. David read out a poem and told me he really believed in me and our future together. “From then on he called me ‘Wifey,’ his pet name for me.” The next year the happy family went to Nigeria to meet David’s relatives. Tracy says: “They were lovely to us and even went through the traditional ceremony of washing our feet when we arrived.” Their second son Olalekan, now four, was born in December 2011. Tracy busied herself bringing up her brood while David turned his hand to various businesses from buying and selling cars to running a market-stall. He also tried to set up an internet cafe. But two years later she found messages between David and a Nigerian woman. Tracy says: “One read: ‘When you were last here I wish I’d kissed you.’ I shouted at him, and wanted him to explain himself. “He said she was someone he used to date before he came to the UK. He said it was nothing, they were just friends. “I told David it was her or me. He said it was me, I was his wifey and that was that. “Over the next few months he tried hard to show he meant it and we got back to normal.” Then David announced he would have to go to Nigeria over the 2014 festive period. Tracy says: “I was furious. I told him he should be here for his sons — for our family. He kept insisting he had important family business.” David flew out the day before Christmas Eve and Tracy was upset the family would be apart. She says: “I was so angry with him, but I wasn’t going to let the children know that. “It was Christmas so I was going to make it a good one.” She messaged David, reminding him to call their boys on Christmas morning. Tracy says: “David finally called at 9pm. I gave him an earful but let him speak to the children. I was so angry with him. “On Boxing Day I didn’t hear from him, but I spoke to him and his family the next day and they were all friendly and normal.” But, on David’s return, Tracy felt something had changed. She says: “When he wasn’t away working he was on his laptop. He was hardly speaking to me or the boys. I would encourage him to spend time with them, but he’d snap at me and say he was busy.” Tracy tried to make her family life as happy as possible but in May came a bolt out of the blue. She got a message on Facebook from the partner of one of David’s friends in Nigeria, a woman Tracy had met when she visited. She says: “The message read that he’d got married to another woman on Boxing Day — everyone knew apart from me. She didn’t think that was right. “The world I loved had been whipped from beneath my feet. Tears streamed down my face. I’d known something was up. “I confronted David but he denied it. He seemed so cool and calm. So I messaged her and said there must be a mistake.” What came next wiped away any trace of doubt Tracy had. Tearfully, she recalls: “She ended up sending me photos of the wedding ceremony via WhatsApp and confirmed it to me. There was no denying that.” Shaking, Tracy managed to guess his Facebook password and logged in. There, she read messages between him and his new wife, the woman she’d caught him messaging two years before, who was also his ex-girlfriend. Tracy says: “I was so angry I couldn’t speak. He couldn’t get married — he was my husband! “I confronted him and he tried to deny it again but this time I told him I’d seen the photos and read the messages. I told him to pack his bags and get out. “I don’t take calls from his family, as they were in on this and went to his wedding last Boxing Day while lying to me. “He abandoned his children and me to get married to another woman. He’s made his choice and now he’s stuck with it.” David said: “I can do what I want. It’s nobody’s business. What do you want me to do?” http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/woman/real_life/6820040/Hubby-went-back-to-Nigeria-last-Christmas-to-marry-again.html cc: lalasticlala

Kenya Alozie was caught by police at Heathrow Airport as she was preparing to leave the country to return to Nigeria A woman has been jailed for nine years after burning a man’s genitals with a hot iron while they were having sex. Kenya Alozie, 31, of no fixed abode, was found guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent at Woolwich Crown Court on December 14. Former Coventry University student Alozie was arrested after attacking a man in his 30s at an address in Plumstead, Greenwich, on May 15. While the couple were having sex, Alozie took a hot iron to the man’s legs and genitals. She then attacked him with a broken bottle, reports the Coventry Telegraph . The victim sustained multiple burns and deep cuts, which have required multiple surgeries to treat. At the time of the attack, Alozie’s student visa was due to expire and she was expected to return to her family in Nigeria at the end of May. She was residing in Plumstead in accommodation with friends. Following an investigation into the attack by Greenwich Police, Alozie was caught on May 24 at Heathrow Airport as she was preparing to leave the country. Detective Constable Duncan Clark from Greenwich police, said: “Alozie committed a calculated and pre-planned attack. “She ensured she had a broken bottle to hand and a hot iron to strike the victim and seriously harm him. “The sentence imposed clearly reflects the seriousness of this extremely violent attack.” http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/woman-jailed-after-burning-mans-7023556

Brand loyalty is a foreign concept in our country and truth is; who can blame Nigerians? Certain companies have perfected the art of exploiting customers especially in the betting sub-sector of the economy. It is not unusual to hear punters complain of being short changed by punting firms in areas like duration of tickets, low odds, slow pay-outs etc. Having been an avid punter for a while now (almost three years), I thought I would just share some of my thoughts on what I have observed. 1. SECURITY: Security of data especially for online players is a very important consideration and punters are advised to research this aspect before choosing a betting firm. Nigerian betting firms are doing an okay job but from what I have observed; Surebet247 takes the lead as it was the first one to introduce email usage instead of generic usernames. 2. GOOD ODDS: This one na wetin Yoruba people dey call Kpataaki (very important). Odds are what makes or breaks a ticket and as expected; punters pay close attention to this. From what I have seen; the battle for odds is a straight competition between Bet9ja and Surebet247 for who has the best odds with Surebet247 edging it slightly but not by much as it seems to switch and change weekly. 3. PROMPT PAYOUTS: On this matter oga dey wella and him name na Surebet247. One Sunday afternoon, I was in school and was extremely broke. I won a bet of 4,568 naira and instantly did a pay-out of 4500. Imagine my shock when I received a credit alert less than 30 minutes later on a Sunday. That company is Surebet247 and on this fast pay-out issue; I can beat my chest everywhere and say that they are the best when it comes to pay-outs in Nigeria. 4. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Let me not lie, customer service is still very bad in Nigeria but some companies are doing better than others. I have had cause to blast a 1960bet staffer who was very rude and failed to offer helpful solutions. I have also had issues with Nairabet, Surebet247 and Bet9ja but Nairabet and Surebet247 have been better. They all have Facebook/Twitter accounts to help customers like us but I will rate Surebet as being slightly better as their customer care agents address you by your name when you call them and they usually solve issues within a short time frame. |
Mr. Dee is into paid employment but has just started a new business entity. He wants to apply for a business credit from a lender, but does not want this credit to affect his personal credit records. He wants the two (2) treated separately, and wants to know what needs to be done and how to achieve it. Sometimes, being employees in paid employment, it is not impossible you are also an owner of some small business(es) in a bid to either follow other areas of passion or simply to diversify your income sources. Often times you take money from your personal finance i.e. salaries to fund your small business(es) and even want to guarantee your business loan obligations with your employment status and income. The continuity and life of your early stage business is still very much associated with your person, presence and financial health. However, you have applied for a business loan but your lender wants to have a wholistic view of both personal and business credit status, but you are expressing reservations on that move, so how do you achieve this and how do you go about it? My response will be from this piece from The Experian, hope you find it informative. ______________________________________________________________ Dear RCH, • The key is to not use your personal credit to finance your business purchases. For example, it is not uncommon for small business owners to secure business loans using their personal credit, or to use personal credit cards to purchase office supplies or equipment. Doing either one typically results in those financial obligations being reported in your personal credit history. To completely separate the two, you must establish your business as a legal entity that does not hold you personally liable for the debts of the business. There are number of ways to incorporate or structure a small business. I suggest you consult with your attorney or perhaps a state or local government office where you live for advice in that regard. As your business applies for and receives credit, a business credit report will be established. That report will then act as the primary tool for determining whether or not you are approved for business credit. If you are personally liable for any debts such as in a sole proprietorship, it is not uncommon for potential creditors to check both your personal credit report and your business credit report. That is because there is a proven, strong correlation between the personal credit histories of small business owners to the business credit performance, particularly in the early years of the business. Studies have shown that if small business owners begin to have problems with their personal credit, it often quickly translates to problems with their business credit. For that reason, lenders may review your personal credit as well as your business credit when you apply for business purposes. This is especially true if you are using your personal credit as security for the business loan. - The Experian Hint: Small Businesses can be incorporated in other forms such as Corporations and Cooperatives where you have limited liability of the promoters for the debts of the business. Sole proprietorships and partnerships, where you have unlimited liability for the debts of the business. However, the business owner can also be held responsible for corporate or LLC debts in certain situations. Below, we discuss how this can happen. 1. Personally Guaranteeing Business Debts If you guarantee on a business loan, you are liable in your personal capacity as much as the corporation or LLC to pay back your company’s debts. Then the creditor can come after your personal assets and sell them to satisfy the obligations of the company where the business defaults on the loan, where you have pledged your Property as Collateral. 2. Pledging Your Property as Collateral You may wonder why your guarantee comes up in the first place, but it happens mostly in cases, where the company is new or does not have as much asset(s), thereby making a creditor request from you as the business owner(s) the provision of some sort of collateral (houses or some personal assets) before approving the credit facility. If you agree to pledge your house or other personal assets as collateral for the business loan, the creditor may be able to take your property and sell it to satisfy the obligations of the company. 3. Removing the Corporate Veil However, a creditor can also break the corporate veil, hold you responsible for your business loan obligations in cases of default, and try to go after your personal assets by eliminating the limited liability protection provided by the corporation or LLC. Where the creditor can prove that the corporation or LLC was a shell created only to provide liability protection for its owners or the company was practically inseparable from or an alter ego of its owners. Courts will be more likely to break the corporate veil if: a. Corporate formalities, such as holding annual meetings and keeping minutes, were not followed. b. Certain owners exerted too much control over the corporation or LLC. c. Owners commingled personal funds with company funds or used personal funds to satisfy company obligations. d. The company was not sufficiently capitalized when it was formed. 4. Fraud There will be personal liability for a business debt where it can be established that they are found to have committed fraud. Where there are fraudulent representations or deliberate omissions during the application for a business loan, with a prior intent to defraud the creditor and eventually resulting to harm of the creditor and risk losing personal assets. On the other hand, if a corporation or LLC was created as a special purpose vehicle to further a fraudulent business, a court of law can break the corporate and go after the owners of the business and hold them personally liable.
