Good Morning Gazzuzz. Please my 2005 Camry started giving a knocking sound in the engine with oil pressure light blinking . I changed from 5w30 which was barely 1month after servicing to Mobil XHP, if it would atop it, but the sound still persists.

Please what are the steps to take, as I am wary about my mechanic opening the Engine for triak and error. Funny thing is no check engine light. I am in Edo State.

low oil pressure is not a good sign. You might have to replace the engine

installed the engine, but took it down again, exhaust and intake manifolds not the same. Swapping out old and new parts.

Engine is beginning to look like akute and lambe used vehicles angry

Transmission, not an exact match. Swapping out the old one with the new.

If your area has really bad roads with a lot of mud, you should read this.

Mud and suspension parts.

mud is very destructive, it traps moisture on suspension parts and causes a gradual buildup of rust.

it also causes motion sensors to malfunction e.g abs wheel speed sensors that read of pulsars.

if also gradually causes the under body of the vehicle to develop rust,

Causes Brake rotors to heat up unevenly and cool off unevenly which will eventually cause them to get warped.

Condenser and radiator fins can get blocked and cause vehicle to overheat

This list of possible vehicular failure is endless but can be reduced.

If you regularly pressure wash the underbody and suspension of your vehicle. It will go a long way to keeping your vehicle in top shape.

It is a very common issue with Hyundai/KIA engines manufactured between 2009 to 2013 (G4KD, G4kE ,nu engines, gamma engines etc.). it is not so bad here due to our kind of climate (tropical) as initial engine start temperature in frigid zones can accelerate the problem.

This problem has been attributed to many factors, short piston length, metal debris left within engine after engine manufacture which will also affect crankshaft, quick wearing of piston wrist pins, quick wearing of coating on piston, etc,etc.

Only solution is to replace short block(rare)+ pistons, re-bore block( as blocks is already ovalized)and replace pistons or replace engine.

for those having vehicles with such engines, best bet is to let your vehicle warm up from cold start for at leat 2 minutes before drive off. this can mitigate the issue to a degree.

whether you change your oil every 1000 km does not matter. on such defective engines from factory, this is bound to happen.

So much for Korean build quality (food for Toyota zombies )
