hummm your village people should free you ooo .........pele . This would have been one stressful journey
Thankfully a lot of things are electronic so might be easier than previous years to retrive and get temp replacement . The school would be the best to guide you on how to sort out school matter and also opening bank account or other functions that needs a passport . You can only take it one step at a time and with time it resolves itself . Work closely with the school ... If you need a Visa stamp , then check canada or mexico after you get another Nigerian passport . That ticket might be cheaper than going to Nigeria . but that if you really need it
at the same time, contact all the places you went through Airtran , airport . Call them and ask for their lost and found section. Also stay in touch for up to 2 - 4 months and keep calling incase someone returns it ....... I once left a camera on the train , which was painful to me because it had pictures of my family visit . i left my contact with the train station and kept following up . 2 months later when i have forgotten about it , i got a call that the camera has been found. That only happened because i stayed in touch and left my details . I was so grateful because those pictures were not replaceable
All them this village people sha.. Already left my contact details with them and I'm hoping to hear good news from them. Thanks for the Canada and Mexico option, I really appreciate it. Yea, my school told me to show up so they can help me process few documents that I'll be using till I hv my new passport in case I didn't see it.. Thank you so much 1 Like |

Yep. You should be ok. They can use a copy of your passport to register you. Luckily, your I94 is now electronic so that can be downloaded online using your passport number (which really is the key). Contact the police, they will issue you a police report. Keep this as you will need it when you apply for another F1 visa. The US will likely cancel your previous visa but you will remain in status as long as you remain a fulltime student. Once you are now settled, you can contact the Nigerian consulate nearest to you and obtain a new passport. You will need to reapply for an F1 visa if you leave the US, but this is not compulsory... if you stay in the US, you'll be fine. Thank you bro |

Did you forget this on the AirTran? In that case, the airline is unlikely to be able to help since the bag is no longer in their possession. Contact the Newark airport to report this immediately. If you forgot it on the train to Penn station and they cannot find the bag, then you're out of luck. If all else fails, contact the police. Without those documents, you may not be able to register in school. How did this happen? Thanks Twood.. I already informed the school and was asked if I have a copy of my passport and I said yes.. The next thing she said was ' I should show up that someone will help me with the process' Which is contacting the police to get report from them and the school will print my I94 which will will show that I got to the states legimately... Is it gonna work that way? 1 Like |

Hello @ all, Got to the Newark international airport around 10pm and took their AirTran to rail station where I took a train from the train station to Newark penn Station.. Upon getting down at the penn station, I realized that I didn't pick up my hand luggage which cosists of all my documents including International passport..
Please, what's the best option for me?
I have tried contacting the NJ train station but they couldn't find it..
Thanks |

softamy: Hi guys, I got my visa approved on Tuesday by the Lady in window 4 @ the Lagos consulate and I promised myself that I will share my transcripts if I am approved . The lady was giving out blue paper like Xmas gift but i tried to stay calm even though I stammered through out the interview. My transcript goes like dis!
Vo: Good morning
Me: Good morning
Vo: So you are going to what school?
Me: Point Park University in Pennsylvania to study media communication
Vo: So what do you do ATM?
Me: I did my Nysc program which lasted till may this year, after which I started working voluntarily as a public relations assistant for chijitech services.
Vo: what are your roles?
Me: I help the public relations department to organize events such as corporate dinner and press conference for the company. I also draft and distribute contents such as newsletters and bulletin.
Vo: how did you find out about the school
Me: through the Us education fair that was held in Lagos . I was quite impressed with the information that Ppu representatives had to share.
Vo: how many schools did you apply to?
Me: 3 schools, uni of Alabama, west Chester university and point park university.
Vo: there are hundreds of university in the US, how did you narrow your search to these three schools. (Mehn, this question threw me off balance..I wasn't prepared at all for it o..I just said one rubbish)
Me: I chose these schools bcoz the curriculum matches that of my career interests
Vo: (cuts in) what curriculum?
Me: the three schools have school of journalism, especially point park university that has a school of communication..(I can't believe I said all diz)
Vocuts in) so you chose point park bcoz it has a school of communication?
Me: Oh no..not at all, I chose Ppu bcoz of their center of media innovation center that is set up to provide students the opportunity to practicalise what is being taught to them in the class.
Vo(cuts in again) center of what?(typing vigorously to check the authenticity of what I just said).
Me: media innovation
Vo: What is it about?
Me: it is a 4,000 square foot building that is well equipped with state of the art media facilities like broadcast studio, newsrooms and editorial office.
Vo: ( flips through the pages of my passport, slides the old passport from the new one, keeps the latter in a tray and passes me the old one with my white paper) Your visa has been approved, keep your I-20 as you will need it at the POE.
I frantically grabbed my documents and left before she calls me back for another thing.. no documents was asked and no I didn't take any tests..lol, it could only be God coz I stammered and flopped a lot through out the interview
Note: pls stay away from those scams o..they told me I needed to print coloured copy of the front pages of my old and new passport ..each print out is a thousand naira..and I gave them 2k for both of my passports..I felt like crying wen the officials checking my docs flinged the print out away..pls o stay woke. And I wish all future applicants success!!
God and preparation is key!!! Congrats |

Messibliss207: Hello fam. You guys are the bomb. My visa was approved this morning 13th... Lagos. I got into Lagos yesterday and lodged at New World hotel in Obalande. It's less than 10 minutes to the embassy. I was interviewed by the black woman in window 4. She was sharing blue paper like biscuit. She denied my friend who I went with. Here's my transcript
VO: (smiling back at me) good morning ma'am
ME: good morning ma
VO: pass your passport and i20. Where are you going to in the US
ME: i'm going to Ball State University in Muncie Indiana
Vo: what's your major
Me: Computer Information Systems
VO: what's your highest degree
ME: BA English Language
VO: why the change to Computer Information System
ME: I caught a passion for IT while in the uni. And as the media director in school I had a lot to do with the computer. Also Nigeria is transferring her business processes from manual to automated so acquiring technical skills will make me remain relevant in the Nigerian business world. I hope to build business modules and softwares that will revolutionize the Nigerian business world. (she was nodding at this point so i continued) I hope to run projects with organisations like Andela that are promoting ICT to women in developing countries like Nigeria to close the gender gap between the male and females in the ICT field in Nigeria. This is because according to the Nigerian National Bureau of statistics, the ratio of male to female in the ict field in Nigeria is 3:1 so I hope to work with these organizations to run projects that will close this gender gap. (at this point she was smiling widely)
VO: how did you hear about Ball State University
ME: the first time I heard about ball state uni was at an education seminar in port Harcourt in 2015. (she nods in agreement like say she follow me go) Then my uncle also recommended it
Vo: (cuts in) how did your uncle hear about this school
Me: he stays in Indiana though in forte Wayne but he told me the school is one of the best in Indiana. (she nods) (I continued) I also carried out a research about the school and the community where ball state is situated
Vo: whos paying
Me: my uncle. He's a Medical Consultant and the CEO of
VO: (cuts in) oh the same person that recommended the school (I said yes and continued spilling my uncle's profile) why is he paying instead of your parents
Me: (smiling widely) he's actually paying back. My parents trained him in medical school so he decided to train me as a way of giving back
Vo: (smiling and nodding) what area will you specialize in
Me: information security system. This is because of the high rate of cyber crime in Nigeria. Actually someone close to me lost a huge sum to cyber crime recently.
Vo: what are some of the courses you will be doing Me: business application development, Info security system ,computer networking for business, database management system.
Vo: do you do c++ or is not part of it Me: c++ is for computer science major. The difference is while computer science major is concerned with technology and it's improvement, computer Information systems is concerned with technology as a strategic tool that promotes business.
Vo: I can see you're already working in the IT field, did you get some certifications?
Me: yes ma'am. I did a short course on Data and statistical Analysis and also on computer networking, Cisco networking to be precise She kindly puts my passport in the basket and brought out the white paper (she kept it far away and was busy giving people the blue paper).
Na so I take Waka today. Thanks to @drocks and @Jerrypeacelinks you guys are too much. Jerry may God give you an approval moro. You're a really nice person. Thanks everyone... You guys made this happen. Lemme go to Balogun market and start my winter shopping. All glory to God.. He's so faithful. When you do your part (preparation) God will do his (grace). Bless you all
TBH. If there's any student going for any ICT program here and his/her VISA is not approved.. I'm 90% sure the person failed to express how the ICT is contributing to our economy here in Nigeria and how ICT is gonna take over Nigeria in the Future... Congratulations... 11 Likes 1 Share |

I actually had a plan to drive down to the answer but the vo cut in and asked me the question again. so I knew I had to go straight to the answer. so I said, I plan to set up a software development institute somewhere in the south east of NG just like what Andela has in lagos. I believe you know Andela right? he said yes, so you want to be a software developer. I nodded. vo. which programming language will you work with me. java. vo start to type. I will be approving your visa. you will get a notification on where to pick it up. I said thank you and left. but him no circle any location for my white paper just like folks here always say. lydia19: Hello everyone, I have been a silent follower for over 2 months. My visa was approved this morning at Lagos Embassy. Many thanks to Damilare5882 for taking his time to help edit my mock transcript and Twoods and also everyone who has contributed to this thread.
VO: Good morning ME: Good morning sir VO: So tell me why you are going to the US? ME: I am going to the US to study and acquire my masters degree in Public health at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. VO: Why masters degree? ME: The first degree is not competitive enough and the masters degree will give me the knowledge and skills that I need to work with the Federal Ministry of Health, and other public health non governmental organizations in order to reduce disease burden in Nigeria. VO: What is your first degree? ME: Microbiology VO: Tell me what you learnt in school about microbiology? ME: Microbiology is the study of micro-organisms. Microbiology has different branches such as environmental microbiology, Food microbiology, Industrial microbiology and Medical microbiology. VO: Tell me about Environmental Microbiology ME: Environmental Microbiology is the study of micro- organisms in the environment. Some micro-organisms can be harmful while some can be useful. For example, some micro-organisms can be used to degrade wastes in the enivornment. Although we have some wastes called recalcitrant wastes that do not degrade such as Plastics and Iron. VO: How many schools did you apply to? ME: 3 VO: Name them ME: University of North Texas Health science center, West virginia University and University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences VO: How many admitted you? ME: The three VO: Why are you not going to University of North Texas Health Science Center? ME: I prefer UAMS because it has a school of Public health that is accredited by the Council on Education for Public health in the US. I will get to work with Professor Brooke Montgomery on her research aimed at examining HIV and STIs disparities in the vulnerable populations and also developing behavioural interventions for sexual risks. Also, they have a curriculum for masters in public health where you get community experience which enables you to apply what you learn in class to the real life. VO: How did you hear abt UAMS? ME: I did an extensive research on schools that offer public health in the US using professional sites such as association of schools for programs of public health and sophas.org and I narrowed down my search to UAMS because their curriculum aligns with my career goals. VO: Did you write GRE or GMAT ME: GRE VO: Are you married? ME: NO VO: Do you have any children? ME: NO VO: Who is your sponsor? ME: My mother waited for some minutes VO: OK, I will be approving your visa now. ME: Thank you sir VO: You will get an email.....bla....bla....

VO: It was fine, and yours Me: great VO: You are going to study in US right Me: yes VO: How do you know about this school? Me: it was recommended by mom's friend whose son finished from the same school. VO: what is your highest degree? Me: Bachelor degree VO: when did you finish? Me: 2014 VO: who is your sponsor? VO: My mom and I was given a scholarship by the school VO: Why? Me: because of my outstanding academic performance where I have 4.31 of 5 scale ,and 3.65 of 4 scale . VO: how did you get it? Me: ( I can't remember, I stammered for while with incoherent sentences) Misconceptions of history where I identify how to use history to solve crises and violence such a Bokoharam in a historical way which I conducted in University of Lagos. I also took it to public school to inculcate spirit of patriotism in them. VO: what part of history will you be studying?
