I think there was pressure to sell in the past because debts, accumulated from building the new Stadium, needed to be serviced. That period is over now and Arsenal, at least on paper, should be able to keep their best players now. Well, I hope so anyway. |
175: Sure u didn't . But d Gbawe I know n respect on Nairaland is not to give nPDP any platform to be heard. . .cos dey are or were part of the mess we find our Country today. My guy, my opinion has not changed at all. I fully accept that these guys are part of the problem. Likely they are not sincere. They are probably only talking because they fight GEJ's faction of the PDP. Nonetheless, that does not mean we cannot inspect their message does it? They, as part of the PDP, know where the skeletons are buried. Let them reveal this to us. Their talk, even if only motivated by self-interest, may actually motivate GEJ to go for broke to begin taking actions that can defeat our biggest problems. |
@OP You are totally correct. The President should be intelligent enough to appreciate the rudiments of diplomatic decorum that forbids this sort of conduct whereby a leader put other Nations down to glorify his own. Jonathan is not the only one who does it. Many leaders do it routinely but we don't want such from our President. He should face the issues of Nigeria squarely and not begin comparing us to a really troubled nation, to assuage his own failings, while he ignored mentioning many fine examples of well-run and secure nations that are the actual Countries we should be comparing ourselves to. There is the also the distasteful aspect of low threshold of ambition from a clueless administrator bereft of solutions. Many will question the reason GEJ must think we are somehow better off in comparison to Syria, Iraq, Somalia et al when we have no business patting ourselves on the back for being minimally better than those very troubled Nation. This is what really frightens me about GEJ vis-a-vis his total incompetence regarding the problems of Nigeria. Nigeria has statistically worsened under him as far as our position on the list of most terrorised Nations yet he wants us to be "thankful" we are not Syria. A solution provider will not be urging Nigerians to be "thankful" we are not Syria when things are actually worsening for Nigeria to the extent it is only a question of time before we become even worse than Syria if things continue to worsen as revealed below. http://giftedgreen.com/2013/?q=12-Depressing-Records-That-Would-Make-Every-Patriotic-Nigerian-Sad 5.Nigeria is the 7th Most Terrorized Nation In The World |
emiye: You mean 200 elementary "poultry house" school in Onitsha.?My guy, the Schools in Onitsha may actually be good and adequate for the purpose they are meant to serve so don't let him drag you down to a level where you retaliate, for his put-down of Osun, via denigrating Onitsha Schools. The bottom line, as pertains to Osun, is that what obtained before were inadequate and glorified shed not even fit to breed animals in let alone serve as schools for children. It makes total sense for ten or more 'sheds' masquerading as schools, with some built by Awolowo decades ago, to be replaced with one model school which provides a conducive, modern and well-equipped centre of learning. I do not think that many can complain that several of what is seen below is replaced by the model School shown which serves as a standard of what Schools should be in Osun State. In education, Aregbesola has done well no doubt. 175: If you agree d op i.e Gbawe is stupid, pls like dis post.DId I write the article? Why can't you just discuss the points raised by the article and not your fellow Nairalander? |
feelamong: These guys really know how to dance to the gallery!!This is the thing !!! These guys are actually proving critics of the PDP wrong. The consistent criticism against the PDP is that it is a Party that does not know what to do to turn Nigeria round given the glaring inactions and dearth of solution worsening the situtation of the Country since 1999. Yet, from the same PDP, we have a set of sensible recommendations that are some of what some of us have consistently demanded. I agree with your concluding submission as well. This may actually be a good development that might force GEJ to look at some changes which would benefit the Nation. |
Billyonaire: I was ignorant and I apologize for misleading but calling me names on a topical discourse is inappropriate. All right. Perhaps that was uncalled for from me and indeed inappropriate so I apologize for that too. Nonetheless, you should not have labelled Fashola "ignorant". If you insult others when you are actually wrong then reactions may be a tad strong to such ungracious conduct but I think you are right that I was wrong to insult you. Point taken. Sorry. |
Even as I doubt their sincerity, I have to commend some of the suggestions listed as very sensible and those traditionally deemed pivotal worldwide in Nigeria's search for solutions. This now illustrates firmly and totally that the PDP indeed know the right things to do on behalf of Nigeria but just cannot/will not bring itself to implement the required changes. |
berem: LOL! This our moderator sabi book no be small! Dem say I no dey intelligent but I don see pesin wey I better pass.At least I still get hope. Can't stop laughing at this comment. Bwahahahaha!! Don't tell me you take the utterances of these Nairaland fraudsters , "billionaires", "business leaders", "medical doctor on sabbatical" et al seriously? They are all as thick as two short planks plus shameless liars and 419ners to boot !!! If anyone will claim to be more intelligent than you then it should not be these 'empty heads' with nothing between their ears Imagine the house "Billionaire" saying Nigeria was a sovereign nation in 1914. The clowns on this forum sef ![]() |
crackhaus: You make me laugh bruv. The topic on this thread, as with Fashola's argument is based on what should or should not be celebrated. It's you guys that started arguing over the mis-use of words like Country, Sovereignty, and so on.Bruv, welcome to the frustration of dealing with some Nigerians and their issues of patent dishonesty and vacuous obstinacy. Nairaland has been an eye-opener with how so many contributors are patently fraudulent in their utterance which, in a totally shameless and 'korokoro' manner, defies what the entire world accepts to be the official truth about certain issues. We even read ridiculously from a charlatan that Nigeria became a sovereign nation in 1914 !!! What are we then to do with what the world deems a sovereign Nation to be while some fraudulent Nigerians are busy creating their own inane definition of such to suit a deceptive defence of their flawed argument? I really don't understand why so many Nairalanders have a penchant for dishonesty/deception and the brazen display of such. |
What is this? Is this an aluminuin workshop? More like a rod market than a school. ![]() Spit..spit on the underdevelopment..
You guys are as so easy to predict because of your hatred for the SW that means you will alway only talk one way and one way alone. It is you guys who delighted in spamming the web with pictures of run down schools in the SW. Now that Aregbesola's revolutionary approach is delivering a new standard every normal and well-adjusted person should praise, we predictably still find the only haters to be your sad and pathetic ilk. May god save your souls and help your kids develop the resolve that will make them reject the indoctrination that has ruined you. Only irredeemable haters like you and your co-travellers in hate will be here mocking the transformation from this: http://www.bolailori.org/index.php/news/latest-news/854-osun-state-demolish-3-000-dilapidated-public-schools SUN STATE DEMOLISH 3,000 DILAPIDATED PUBLIC SCHOOLS......... to what is revealed below. Yet we know your sort are a study in the sort of hatred that destroys basic dececny completely. https://www.osundefender.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/osun-model-school.jpghttp://www.osundefender.org/?p=124353 |
Billyonaire: FASHOLA IS IGNORANT HERE.An absolute 'thicko' calling Fashola ignorant. How ironic. My friend, go and improve your general knowledge, with an emphasis on comprehending the meaning of words, before coming here to embarrass yourself. It seems you don't know what a Sovereign Nation/State is before proclaiming Nigeria to be one in 1914. It is always you 'airheads' who are most vacuously ungracious with your utterances. To make things crystal clear to even your ultra-thick brain, I present a link below which shows a list of sovereign states of the World by date of formation with Nigeria's date of acquisition of sovereignty given as 01 October 1960 i.e the date she gained independence from the United Kingdom. This is why Governor Fashola you insult is a leader while you are here displaying crass ignorance daily and pretending to be what your glaring lack of intelligence show you are not. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sovereign_state Sovereign statehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sovereign_states_by_date_of_formation |
HNosegbe: Nice one Dangote. We have had the NHIS (National health insurance scheme) in place since 1999. It just does not seem to efficiently deliver on its primary brief. I think we will have to look at what others, running similar schemes successfully, have done well. http://www.healthpolicyproject.com/pubs/96_NigeriaInsuranceFinal.pdf |
9jacrip: This is good but wait oh!You have a point about second term indolence. This is where Osun folks have a part to play in issues. They should keep Aregbesola on his toes so that he remains focused. |
odua boy: Endorsement or no no endorsement,Aregbesola is going for a second, the people of osun loves the man with all their heart,he has proven time immemorial to be the peoples governorNay. All progressive Nigerians love and support the man !!!! I think Osun will be a hugely transformed State by the time Aregbesola leaves in 2018 with so much coming on board between now and then. |

mars123: In oshiomohle's media chat,he was made to analyze Nigeria's problem and give a solution or two..he spoke about NNPC and their mismanagement of over 400 000bbls of cruude oil for refining and he also said a lot of things which I can't explain because I don't understand the system the way he does and I'm 100percent sure our president doesn't!look, jonathan is making these little progress because of his few brilliant ministers lyk Barth Nnaji(ex power)Adesina(agric),to mention a few of the few!Nigeria will continue in a slow pace if he is re-elected...I'm from d south south and I don't give a damn..if someone better that we all know comes in 2015,let's vote him in pls, your country is begging its inhabitants!Thank you. I have often said it that it is impossible for any President not to have some "achievements" to his/her name. Every regime can be credited with one thing or the other. Yet we all know Nigeria's potentials which , married to the right solutions, can put us on the path of greatness quickly. As one example, the right President will no doubt understand he must bravely confront and reform the current bloated and profligately unwieldy structure of Nigeria that means 70% of our budgeted spending goes on recurrent expenses. This figure is in single digit for many nations of the world and analyst worldwide have said we can never develop if this hideous economic/administrative aberration continues yet we see absolutely no effort from GEJ in regard to this fundamental problem after 3 years as substantive President of Nigeria. Instead, rather than lead by example, we see him adding to the problem as the poster child of mindless greed and profligacy. Three new air-planes (costing $151 million) added to a functional Presidential airfleet of 7, to make 10, by GEJ. This massive fleet is then maintained at the cost of N18 billion per year while the Police force is allocated N11 billion to equip its officers !!! Some can hate Buhari and Ribadu all they want but can anyone honestly think either of the two would maintain an air fleet of 10 planes? This air fleet example , sadly, is what typifies the leadership of GEJ. This is a President directly compounding, instead of tackling, the biggest problems of Nigeria. Mind you, those before him (OBJ and Yar Adua) were virtually the same. I.e limited, hollow and ephemeral "achievements" yet our major problems, exemplified by the revelations of this article, continue to worsen. |
Clerverly: Even among thieves there is honour. You can't fault the message. This is the bottom line. Folks can insult the messenger all they want. It is what many emotional Nairalanders do anyway to the extent the message is then lost and misrule, to the detriment of Nigeria, continues gleefully and unchecked. It is revelations like that below which should worry focused Nigerians and not who the messenger is or what his agenda is. Politicians can fight each other but hideous misrule mainly affects ordinary Nigerians. “Today, SURE-P has sacked the 110,000 youths it placed on N10,000 monthly allowances on the excuse that there is no money to pay them. |
kaeyame: the worst this, the worst that...na them sabi.Let us blame "Oyibo" for everything and never ourselves . We will surely become a great Nation thinking like that. Did Oyibo make our President insanely hand over our refineries into the incompetent hands of the NNPC for 24 months to now result in our refineries being rated the worst in Africa? Was it not always obvious the crazy decision of GEJ was only going to make things worse? Why do we Nigerians have a problem with understanding that actions, especially our own, have consequences ? Why are we always so keen to blame others for our woes when most of our problems can be directly linked to the poor/compromised decision-making and performance of our own leaders? Shall we blame Oyibo also for the drastically increased level of oil theft when it was the President of Nigeria that led the sabotage of his own Country via handing pipeline protection contract to former militant warlords who are, in reality, glorified oil bunkerers? They punish and ostracise corruption worldwide yet our President pardons offenders convicted of ruining the future of many with corrupt actions. When we are then adjudged very corrupt, why must we drag Oyibo into issues if a people who understand the consequences of the actions of our own leader? Nigeria can only change if, first and foremost, those who are led begin to hold their direct leaders accountable before looking elsewhere or to anyone else for blame/solutions. |
http://www.punchng.com/news/nigeria-a-crumbling-edifice-new-pdp/ Nigeria, a crumbling edifice – New PDP |
The sad reality is that virtually everything has worsened greatly for Nigeria under the PDP over 14 years since 1999. As this article comprehensively confirms, we do not seem to be making progress in relation to our most serious problems and challenges. In fact, we continue to see mad decisions that leaves critically thinking Nigerians in no doubt that the PDP cannot administer the centre effectively. The Party, at the centre, only produces administrators who seem to compound the biggest problems of Nigeria. Can anyone be surprised our refineries, as one example, are rated the worst in Africa given that one of the first thing GEJ did, after his 2011 swearing in, was to concede Nigeria refineries into the hands of the "grand home of corruption" (NNPC) for 24 months? The NNPC is the greatest symbol of failure yet the President handed our refineries to them same way he senselessly charged Militants to protect oil pipeline officially with the disastrous result of Nigeria now seeing the highest level of oil theft in a while !!!!! We have to begin shunning mediocrity in Nigeria to recognise glaring leadership failure which must be punished with only a dismissal of those responsible for grossly inadequate leadership embarrassing Nigeria. Failure to begin doing this will mean many of these unsavoury records will continue to worsen until Nigeria fails totally. |
http://odili.net/news/source/2013/oct/1/605.html Osun begins 4-5-3 educational system tomorrow *Collapses pry, secondary schools |
Ajibel: Imagine the crap this my fellow leader of tomorrow is spitting out here. ROAD IS NOT IMPORTANT...in 21st century. I wonder what sort of a leader you'd turn out to be. I never intended posting here buh your quoted post stinks of stup1dity.Unfortunately, this is an example of why Nigeria is not making progress. The leadership of Nigeria cannot be sourced from Mars. It is contributors here, with their absolutely inane talk completely lacking common sense or logic, who go on to gain influential leadership positions. This is why we are in serious trouble as a nation. This is why many of our leader appear incredibly unprepared, indolent and clueless when they open their mouth. Many are not fit to lead because they have nothing of use in their head. Only evolution and pragmatically sensible voting from the electorate will change this deplorable status quo. |
Satguru: @ Lutheranhttp://247ureports.com/gov-amaechi-and-supporters-move-to-apc/ |
abinsco25: Ask those hypocrites that are against the merging of the schools in Osun state where there children schooling. None of them has his/her children in the public schools.Their children attend the best private schools pay their school fees with our money and the common man's children attend the debilitated public schools and our past leader care not . Our education needs a reformation,we can't continue with the Awolowo model schools, they are outdated, now that there is someone that is ready to reform the education system, they are now crying. Why? Let them cry!" Won a sunku ku ni,omo Ole"Aregbe carry on,2014 no shaking,Abere straight.Don't mind these hypocrites who play politics with everything shamelessly and with total dishonesty. With the education sector, where Aregbesola is adjudged a star performer beyond Party lines, should we assume any of these ungracious critics know more than Senator Chukwumerije who is a PDP senator and chairman of the Senate committee on education? Some people should be ashamed of themselves yet this is Nigeria where many are still very evil and we even still see ALUU-style lynching daily so I am not surprised to see lies flying around and supported fervently. http://dailyindependentnig.com/2012/10/chukwumerije-hails-aregbesolas-education-policies/ Chukwumerije hails Aregbesola’s education policies |
kaze4blues: Using osogbo as case study because that is where I leave, modern mega schools are now under construction with most almost completed all through osogbo.Thank you. Nothing more to add. |
Atouke: Can you please list the projects that rauf has completed since his tenure in office? i dont mean the media hyped "initiated/started" project? This is what shows that many of you are 'disturbed' and totally consumed with hate. You have quoted a post which actually has a link that shows you "completed projects" yet you show boneheaded id1ocy and a total devotion to being unreasonable by asking the crap you do above. This is why, unfortunately, people like you should not be taken seriously. You have no interest in confronting let alone acknowledging the truth because of innate bias and prejudice. |
Sincere 9gerian: Quote of the week. LWKMD!Mumu, can you tell Nairalanders where the road below are in Lagos State? You should be ashamed of yourself. Me and you may be dedicated to our political camps but I draw the line at maligning PDP/labour/APGA/DPP administrators , or any others, I know are genuinely delivering for and loved by their people. That is what we should all uniformly subscribe to if predisposed to the developmental aspect of Nigerian politics. When a leader is loved by his own people, who are fiercely happy with his leadership on their behalf, a decent person (especially when a non-stakeholder) will not go there. Political sophistication means we must, whatever our personal convictions, defer to the opinions of the electorate at all times. If, for example, Abians say they are happy with Orji then who am I to forcefully join issues with and insult those stakeholders over that announcement even if I personally disagree with their opinion? You, on the other hand, are not the least bit principled or morally upright so I am not surprised the same Aregbesola you have praised elsewhere is the leader you now attempt to malign because of your ignoble and two-faced nature. http://osun.gov.ng/infrastructure/roads/township-roads/ |
eGuerrilla: Did @OP bother to verify any of the points raised in that article before going to town with his proclamations of ABSOLUTE guilt?Thank you. What Aregbesola is mainly guilty of is burning ambition and an impatience to see Osun develop as quickly as possible. To that extent he will often initiate very laudable plans cash, for a very poor State, is not available to implement immediately and totally. In the end , he always secures the funding to make things work. He has delivered with commitment and focus. That is a style of administration which may not be to the taste of many but not fraudulent or dishonest either. Delay in the supply of Opon Imo is not reason for any objective and progressive mind to shout "fraud". Same as delay in the completion of the Lagos light rail, the first of its kind in Nigeria, is an issue of paucity of funds and nothing else. Administrators do not spend time brainstorming award-winning innovation to then ruin such with fraud. Yet one cannot mitigate for the id1ocy of some here which makes them predisposed to believing anything however ludicrous such is. I personally think we are in a period where Nigerians must protect their best leaders from charlatans who have lost out and will use vile agents, lies and deceitful machination in an effort to regain the office that provides them with what they did to result in them being booted out. I.e loot massively and unconscionably without giving the people anything at all. We should not go back to the days of hideous indolence and ridculous stagnation. They talk of "propaganda" yet use the link below yourself to see evidence and pictures of what Aregbesola is doing to deserve the loyalty he got here, from stakeholders, while Oyinlola only succeeded to turn Osun into one big "Owambe" zone for the PDP. http://osun.gov.ng/infrastructure/roads/township-roads/ |
Atouke: This is how Nigerians use big big grammar when the want to hide/condone corruption. am not suprised gwabe you are a stakeholder in the fraud, i do not expect you to be objective or give the OPs point credence. As always, I have validated my position factually while you only run on the fuel of sentiments and whatever else motivates your criticism. I have shown precisely why I cannot give "credence" to anything the author of the article stated. This is a character asking Aregbesola to explain to the people of Osun the "ownership" of a Company inaugurated in 1990 when Aregbesola was aged 33 and, for example, Governor Fayemi of Ekiti was 25 !!! Was Aregbesola anywhere near Ratcon in 1990 or has Ratcon now been officially sold to Aregbesola for this author to ask an elected Governor to explain the ownership of a Company with publicly available record of ownership and incorporation? Has Ratcon been indicted of incompetence or anything unsavoury? Where, worldwide, do you see citizens taking issues with who gets the job done if the job is done right? Are you for real? We should ask why you and others are so keen to give credence to such 1diotically and poorly packaged lies a 6 year old will look upon with disdain. Then again, I know the answer to that question. |
