PoliticsRe: Hamzat In Pole Position To Succeed Fashola by Gbawe: 9:15am On Jul 09, 2013
Choi. Anoda Tinubu Loyalist....
pro01: If the PDP does not 'capture' Lagos in 2015, it never will. ACN is finished. It is now all about protecting Tinubu's billion dollar interests and the interests of the Ikoyi/VI/Lekki elite. Imagine, the No.1 priority is that the next ACN flagbearer must be a Tinubu loyalist and puppet!

The masses have had anough, and it would be a massive shame if the PDP fails to capitslise on that. . . .the goalkeeper has abandoned the goal post, and scoring is as easy as simply tapping the ball into the net. PDP shouldn't pull a Yakubu Aiyebgeni misfire on us.
You guys are simply amazing. This is a chap who has worked with Fashola for several years and is an outstanding intellectual and technocrat. Yet all you allow yourself to see is the name Tinubu. Na wa sha.

If you know better qualified candidates, why not suggests them since it is very obvious to even a 3 year old that every ACN candidate will be labelled a "Tinubu stooge" by you "damned if you do damned if you don't" thinkers. Perhaps the ACN should go and get their candidate from the PDP to satisfy folks like you that their guber representative is not a "Tinubu stooge".

The man qualifies professionally, academically and by virtue of being one of those who has worked closely with Fashola in an important portfolio as commissioner of works and infrastructure. Yet all that does not matter to you guys. Only to rant and invoke the name Tinubu when you cannot actually question the professional/academic credentials, directly relevant work experience and suitability of Hamzat.

Can any of you show, focused on merit and not your ALUU-style lynch mob proclivity, that Hamzat is not suitable to replace Fashola?

akpomeme: Your unproductive north is blocking the passage of the pib bill too. What value do you bring on the table outside killing of innocent people in the name of God? Rubbish!
Beyond the "North is evil" staple diet you have been brought up on, can you prove conclusively and with facts that it is the North "blocking the passage of the PIB"?
PoliticsRe: Was Labaran Maku Right On Fashola's Performance ? by Gbawe: 8:41am On Jul 09, 2013
akpomeme: I agree with the writer. Robbery and kidnapping is an everyday occurrence in Lagos too. So what attention has he paid to security. Hookers and beggy beggy corrupt police are the order of the day. A British citizen kidnapped a year ago who left this country after his release, was appalled that when he was taken hostage at night, the kidnappers tipped police men on every post and in turn the officers hailed them while they made their way out. Fashy Fashola and Tin Tinubu.
Fashola is not in charge of the NPF. Find out the governor championing the cause of State policing and those knocking back the idea yet failing to reform and significantly upgrade the NPF to make it more effective at protecting lives and property. After that, and hopefully, issues will become more clear to you over who is responsible for the security mess all of Nigeria is experiencing.

akpomeme: True federalism is the answer but your northern APC bros will not agree because they can't even generate their own revenue....lol hilarious country.
Is Jonathan a Northerner? When has GEJ and the many southerners working with him agitated for "true federalism"? Some Southerners now have the power to enact the change we all seek and feel is the panacea to our woes. Why are doing/saying nothing while you are comfortable with their silence and inaction only to prefer making the North the scapegoat for the inactions of a Southern President? Did GEJ not say a flat no to an SNC? What is the bedrock of his thinking? When has the man ever talked with conviction about realigning our federalism for greater efficacy? His actions/inaction show he is not interested in such and you would admit same if honest with yourself and able to accept responsibility for your own failings and that of those you support.

It is gradualist leaders, from all corners of Nigeria to include yours, who are preventing Nigerians from enjoying "true federalism" - not "the North" alone. I understand why the North are the convenient scapegoat but ask yourself honestly who is in charge of Nigeria today and why they cannot deliver the change you want if they are the virtuous and innocent men you infer ethnicity and region of origin mean they must be.

If honest with yourself, you will see issues are about leaders, from all regions, doing what is best for themselves which is usually opposite to what is best for Nigeria. The North simply has a reputation because most remember the region as enjoying power most. The truth is that our federalism did not become any more "true" under OBJ and it is not becoming more "true" under GEJ either. You should have the honesty to face what that reality reveals instead of peddling the convenient deceit that it is the North alone preventing "true fereralism".

Below is the website of the business Aregbesola is laudably trying to help and grow into an even bigger business entity.

They actually make a different range of clothing, from T-shirts to African design and even corporate wears.
GEJ supporters are very funny. Always trying to claim good works of other people for the clueless one.
Very shameless and wretched individuals. Their aim is to hold Nigeria back by ensuring the work of innovative and driven administrators, better than those from the Party of their messiah (GEJ), is never acknowledged or given the credit it deserves. We can all remember their master on Nairaland, Beaf, doing this to discredit Aregbesola here 24/7 in the past.

In their shallow mind this will stop Nigerians from noting the better option by far. Forumers can hear from the Horses mouth (Sara and Sam garment CEO Folake Oyemade) itself. Does she mention GEJ or BOI or is it Aregbesola she gives credit to as a "partner in progress"? These GEJ fans are just horrid and clannish individuals determined to ensure mediocrity remains in charge because of their own sectional devotion to a ridiculously mediocre administrator. Osun originally partnered with Sam and Sara garments for their school uniform project. Ogbeni, as an innovative Governor, has just seen an opportunity to help the business grow to the benefit of Osun and this is why the state owns a 14% stake in the business.

Omoluabi Garment And Osun: Partners Joined By Love For School Children

Despite many challenges faced by small and medium scales enterprises in Nigeria, some companies continue to survive while others have relocated to neighbouring African countries. Sam and Sara Exclusive Uniforms, a garment-making company is one of the survivors.

In this interview with AJIBOLA AMZAT and LAOLU ADEYEMI, the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mrs. Folake Oyemade, shares the experience of how her company managed to thrive despite all odds in more than two decades. She also bares her mind on how her company, which also deals in exporting Nigeria-made garments recently partnered with the government of the State of Osun in clothing public school students in the state, among other issues. Excerpts:

We learnt Sam and Sara is presently involved in a project with the Osun State Government, tell us about it?

Yes, Sam and Sara is partnering with Osun State Government to manufacture and supply uniforms for public school students. This is done by the Omoluabi Garment, which is a subsidiary of Sam and Sara we are setting up factories that will provide quality school uniforms and also generate job opportunities for the unemployed in the state.

How did the partnership with Osun State Government begin?

Our relationship with the Osun State Government can be described as partners in progress. As the CEO of a company, I watch with keen interest what every governor stands for. The governor of Osun State caught my attention as somebody who cares so much about his citizen’s welfare, and as a company we identified him as somebody who has a common interest with us. That is why we are able to work as partners in progress.

I believe in welfarism, even the Bible says we will always have the poor among us and it is the duty of the people who are more comfortable to take care of the less privileged, just as it is the duty of the government to care for all citizens, the rich, and especially the poor.

One of the reasons for creating a manufacturing company is to employ many people and put food on their tables. We keep increasing our manpower from time to time because there are a lot of people we want to keep out of robbery, fraudulent activities and other ills in the society.

It is also out of this passion that we are into export in an effort to rebrand Nigeria. We want people to know we can use our large population for the betterment of mankind. This is our little way of rebranding this nation. I have a passion for Nigeria’s unity, also a passion for perfection and success and these are the major things that have spurred the starting of Sam and Sara. Really, if it was all about money I will make more money trading than being in the manufacturing sector. This is because it takes the grace of God to break even in Nigeria’s manufacturing sector, with problems ranging from power supply, currency fluctuation, manpower and others. It’s really difficult to be in manufacturing sector in Nigeria, unlike other countries.

Why Omoluabi garment?

It is a joint venture between our company and the State of Osun, so we named it Omoluabi Garment in line with what the people of the state are called – Omoluabi. That is the name they love to be called.

For a cash-strained state like Osun, some people may be curious to know why N800 million is spent on students’ uniforms?

That is something I believe the governor and his cabinet should be commended for. When students go to school not properly dressed, it affects their concentration and academic performance. Academically, research has shown that when a child has self-confidence, his concentration is higher and loves going to school. This is part of the reason why the government wants to improve students’ confidence and self- worth.

Beyond that, it might interest you to know that a lot of people are so poor that they can’t afford a uniform. When we visited those schools, I was close to tears! Some students wore their elder brother’s shirt, which is oversized on native trousers of a different fabric. That is the level of poverty a lot of people are faced with in that state. You see uniforms as good as not wearing anything to school, so the Governor’s benevolence is helping them in a little way erase the difference between the child of poor parents and that of rich parents.

In what way will the Omoluabi project generate employment and how many beneficiaries can emerge?

We are positioned to employ up to 3000 people in Osun. The beauty is that our approach is not exclusionary, even a layman that can read and write can be taught the skills of stitching. In our factory we engage in mass production; one person does not start a job and finishes it. For instance, we can have up to 10 people to make a shirt and they will be doing different things. Another good thing is that you earn according to your output, there is no fixed salary. Aside employment, the project allows our organization to train as many tailors as possible. We recently brought some of the recruits in Osun to our Mowe factory for training.

How sustainable is this project?

The project is sustainable for as long as the state government wants it to be. I believe a government that cares for school children and quality education like the state of Osun will not want a project like this to stop. Omoluabi Garment is not just making quality uniforms at affordable price in Osun; we are also in partnership with the state government in empowering his people and bridging the gap between the children of the rich and the poor. Our materials are gotten locally and the uniforms are meant for primary 1 to SSS3 students.

Are the students expected to get the uniforms every year?

The initial provision was 100 percent free but subsequently, parents will pay for uniforms. But they are not likely to spend more than what they were spending in the past. In fact, they will probably pay less for greater quality uniforms.

Osun State bridges the gap between the poor and the rich through school uniform, could you speak more about this?

Yes it does. In the State of Osun now, you can hardly tell who is in public school and who is not. The Governor has given them a sense of belonging; the public school uniform is better than most private schools. In fact when we went round for measurement, the students were happy. When we arrived at the gate, they were already on a queue.
your father owns BOI Right? this one wey you just they vex cos them no give the bank credit
Don't mind these insecure babies always obsessed with dragging GEJ into everything. The Bank of Industry is there to assist businesses by providing them with finance while it gains profit for doing so. We might as well start regarding banks as co-collaborators for every of the worlds top business since they have all virtually received formal financial assistance to develop their business plans and ideas.

I don't know how anyone is meant to believe the outright lie that "this Bank is THE Financier and Enabler of d project". We know such blatant lies are the sort to be delivered shamelessly by disciples of GEJ totally consumed with taking credit away from the ACN since, in the grand scheme of things, they are afraid Nigerians will discern the Party producing the best performers.

For the absence of doubt, it is Aregbesola and Osun that are the enablers of the the garment factory which is effectively a public-private sector partnership between Osun and the business itself. This is why Osun has a a direct 14% equitable stake in the business. The liars of GEJ should come and tell us what part of this garment factory BOI and the FG own. It seems some enjoy lying yet do not possess rudimentary knowledge about business formation and partnership to bolster their crude lies. Shameless liars.

Governor Aregbesola, in order to encourage the investors, Messrs Sam & Sarah Garment Factory, to boost the sewing of school uniforms for public primary and secondary schools across the state’s 30 local governments, provided 6,000 square metres of land for the factory to take off in Osogbo.

The land, which the government provided along with other ancillary incentives made available to Sam & Sara to establish what has now become the largest garment factory in West Africa, has been used to serve as the 14 per cent equitable holding of the state in the venture.

So fellas relax on that front . . .
This is the bottom line. There are many others working closely with Fashola who are already up to speed with everything ongoing in the State. It would be hard to make a meritorious pitch for a Senator who works in Abuja and would need to learn so much.

The likes of Obafemi Hamzat, who is commissioner of works and infrastructure and very much like Fashola, enjoy good general support. If people wish to work themselves into a frenzy at the mention of "Tinubu" then so be it

Nonetheless, it must be mentioned that Lagos is 'loaded' with many fine administrators at the moment and , as you stated, it would backfire if the likes of Hamzat, directly involved and doing a good job as works and infrastructure commissioner, are ignored for less competent individuals. I genuinely believe the SW has gone past that stage. Regardless of what some think, Tinubu knows that Lagos is bigger than him.

As if any part of Nigeria will have its votes discarded or disregarded. I do not know how long it will take you to see that politics is not about senseless enmity. ALiyu just doing the Atiku diplomatic talk. I remember Atiku saying "Jonathan is free to contest" when he realised that pushing the zoning angle was retrogressive and openly off-putting. In fact, Atiku has realised that such insistence only made GEJ gain support as the "underdog" being bullied by the "born to rule" crew. Aliyu too now simply realises that it is senseless to remain insistent about some agreement even if such is 100% true. Better to strategise and test popularity the legitimate way instead of insisting publicly to be handed an important office.

mbulela: Is that the best you could come up with?
Try harder.
The very same reason you react senselessly and irrationally to the Tinubu name, to begin making baseless accusations, is why you called Igbokwe a liar to begin with.

Did Igbokwe speak on the personal Iyaloja ambition of Tinubu's daughter she is entitled to as an involved stakeholder? Of course he did not because he cannot !!!! He is not her spokesman. He is spokeman for the ACN and he commented to tell obstinate and unreasonable people like you that ACN/Tinubu is not involved in market affairs!!! You are the one who chose not to believe that !!!!

Furthermore, Igbokwe can't tell Tinubu's daughter what to do or what not to do in pursuit of her own personal ambition unrelated to his Party. Igbokwe can only tell you what his Party is involved in or not concerned with at all. Whether you believe him or not does not make him a liar.

In fact, every time you open your mouth to make baseless accusations, you are clearly disrespecting the many stakeholders who have told you that their business is an internal affair and that they, not Tinubu, chose the Iyaloja they wanted. If you cannot respect those stakeholders why would I expect or even want your respect? That is why I told you to shove such. You are too arrogant to see how disrespectful you are in relation to an issue you should just concede defeat over. You have your suspicion but stakeholders have come out to tell you your suspicion is wrong. They have told you they made their own choice willingly and freely. When do you then accept it is time to put down your baseball bats, machete et al and head on home instead of continuing your ALUU antics from thread to thread? Look below to see that it is your lack of refinement that now leaves you owing Igbokwe an apology for calling him a liar.

The man said the ACN is not involved with "installing" Tinubu's daughter as Iyaloja. He did not tell you that her fellow market stakeholders did not have the power, independence or right to do that if that is what they wanted. Your ALUU behaviour is just shameful. The only thing that would have justified you calling Igbokwe a liar is if you can prove you saw Igbokwe or any other ACN member actively concerning themselves with the affairs of the market folks. If you have a problem, take it to the the authorised individuals in the Market men/women board. Your continuous ranting over this business, and stalking others from thread to thread with such, is now embarrassing.

Lagos ACN denies reports of Tinubu appointing daughter as market leader
Ben Ezeamalu
Published: June 24,2013

Former Lagos governor, Bola Tinubu
The ACN says its focus is on 2015 and not “market”.
The Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, has denied media reports that its national leader, Bola Tinubu, has appointed his daughter as successor to his recently deceased mother for the post of ‘Iyaloja’ of Lagos State.
Speaking to PREMIUM TIMES over the telephone, the party dismissed the reports as “rantings” of the opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP.
“The (ACN) leadership is not aware of it. It is not true and can never be true,” said Joe Igbokwe, spokesperson, Lagos ACN.
The Lagos PDP had issued a statement on Monday condemning the alleged plot to install Folashade Tinubu-Ojo to succeed her grandmother, the late Abibat Mogaji, as the new President General of market men and women in Lagos State.
In its statement signed by Taofik Gani, the Lagos PDP spokesperson, the party called on the former governor to rescind his decision, adding that Mr. Tinubu had planned to notify market leaders at his Ikoyi home on Tuesday.
“The much-touted democrat should allow the simple tenets of democracy to prevail in the selection of a new leader for the market women, more so as there is no cogent evidence that his nominee and daughter is a full-time market woman,” the PDP statement said.
The PDP even called on the state governor, Raji Fashola, asking him not to sit on the fence “at this auspicious time.”
The Lagos ACN, however, dismissed the statement as the handiwork of “an idle mind.”
“We don’t have time for that kind of thing. We are strategising for 2015 and they are talking about market,” Mr. Igbokwe said. “Who has interest in that kind of thing?”

The only way the government can aid in job creation that is sustainable is to enable the right business environment (security, power, other infrastructure etc.) and provide the right incentives ( tax breaks, easy financing etc.) for private investors and businesses to exploit. Congrats to the Osun state government for working with the private sector to create jobs from industry and not the government hiring people randomly to perform tasks that are not needed. smiley
Indeed. Job creation, for a nation like Nigeria, will be commensurate to the efforts government puts in because of how so much is lacking. Government has to incentivize potential employers of labour.

I doubt it. Yet, even the school uniform sector can be huge for this factory because specialisation may see other States approaching them as cost-effective suppliers for their school uniform needs. Most impressive is the creation of 3000 jobs. Like someone said earlier, Aregbesola is impressive because of his direct and hands-on style of leadership.

plaindealer: You are entitled to your own opinion, but never your own facts. You are wrong on so many levels and I'll pick them out one by one.

1. There's absoluteness no need to defend anything before you especially your opinion that's not rooted in facts and reality.

2. You have zero proof to stand on, and you can not substitute facts with innuendos, sentiments, suggestions. You can not take your baseless argument and opinion to any court of law unless and get any kind of conviction and that's even if they didn't throw you and fine you for wasting the court's time.

3. Tinubu's daughter was next in line for that position so her ascendancy was automatic based on democratic norms and principle.

4. Unlike Patience Jonathan, Iyalojoa is a non governmental position and she was not appointed by the state and the state is not paying her salary. That was a crude and bogus analogy.

5. No rightful candidate was denied any position in favor of Tinubu's daughter so the only thing driving your bogus argument is the name Tinubu

You are free to speculate and hold on to your opinion, but please get over yourself and quit thinking people owe you any explanation or excuse.
Some people simply have no idea how prejudice against a name now makes them appear more similar to the ALUU lynch mob than to a reasonable, eduated and law-abidding person who knows when to give up and simply say "if you say so, as the stakeholder, then that is good enough for me".

Imagine this. The poster you responded to, i.e Mbulela, has a friend who went to jail. This Mbulela chap then goes around saying that the friend was sexually abused in prison because Mbulela's own personal prejudice and conviction makes him believe that this is what happens 100% to every male who is jailed.

The friend approaches Mbulela to tell him "respect me and stop spreading rumours. I was not sexually abused in prison even if that happened to others. Respect my testimony as the involved Party, stop the lies and let this go".

Mbulela goes away from that conversation only to carry on gleefully spreading malicious rumours over something he convinced himself happened , because of personal prejudice and nothing else, even as he was not present to witness what he claims happened and has no tangible proof whatsoever to validate his allegation. What does that make Mbulela? I know many words to describe such a person who will not respect involved stakeholders who say they are happy with the choice they made willingly. Many reasonable people know when to admit that their own personal suspicion and conviction cannot substitute what eye-witnesses and stakeholders insist is the official version of events.
PoliticsRe: ACN Is Searching For Fashola’s Successor by Gbawe:
mbulela: What a weak defence. My respect for your views began to diminish the day you chose to weakly defend that nepotistic act of Asiwaju. So until we see members of the ACN running around with Iyaloja banners, Tinubu is not involved? Such simplistic explanation! Kindly educate us on what other qualifications the lady has to occupy the President General position she just inherited?
This is no different to the sycophantic Perm Sec position bestowed on an illiterate woman called Patience Jonathan. The lady in question is she even a market woman in the first place?
I don't care for your respect because you have shown yourself to be another who cannot defer to fact and is incapable of separating emotion and sentiments from what reality shows can be proven and accepted as the authoritative state of affairs. All you do is continue to flog a dead horse and invite reasonable folks to join you in your imaginary witch hunt. When they do not wish to do so, you then talk of losing respect for their views as if anyone can respect your obstinate, senseless and anarchic disposition

The highest authority amongst Stakeholders have come out to say they chose the lady themselves willingly as Iyaloja yet that is not good enough for people like you totally outside the process plus professionally and personally dissociated from the group in consideration. Do you not think you are the one not worthy of the respect of even a 5 year old child with your open disrespect for others who are stakeholders and have repeatedly asked you to respect a decision they took willingly ?

You can say I defend nepotism, when it is obvious such an assertion is ultimately a figment of your imagination, but I can say it is anarchic, egotistic and vainglorious mentality such as yours that has littered Nigeria with ALUU-minded murderers, lynch mobs and summary executioners. What else do you want to do when those who are involved have told you repeatedly that they acted of their own freewill?
Can you simply not accord them the benefit of the doubt since, to most mentally advanced individuals, no other option is tenable?

You are the one not worthy of respect because you do not appreciate that the loftiest standard to aspire to is one that seee everyone, whatever their opinion and however strongly they entertain such, deferring to constitutional authority always. You are nothing but an anarchist deep down. Shove your respect where the Sun does not shine abeg.

Oshiomhole is not alarmist. Clearly, the man used the words he meant to use but you can expect distortion and revisionism as standard menu served for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Nairalander.

I agree and I like your ambitious thinking. Fashola can be in the background as an advisor to the new Governor.

mbulela: You also like the way he lied and misled the public during the recent Market leader's nepotistic appointment?
You inability to detach your ACN affiliation in discussions are increasingly worrying.
What is their to like about Igbokwe? He just makes endless noises, yet his pay master is proving not to be much different from the clueless one we have been saddled with as president. Tinubu may not be as clueless as GEJ (in fact he is exceedingly intelligent)but his greed and insatiable desire is as destructive as the ineptness of GEJ.
Igbokwe is no better than Abati and Okupe.
Let us stop this sentimental pursuit of an issue mainly driven by emotions and not much facts. You know damn well that you are lying against Igbokwe in so far as you cannot prove conclusively , with facts, that Tinubu or his Party interfered with the process that produced the new Iyaloja. All you have is conjecture.

Igbokwe said the ACN has other things to do , towards 2015, than be involved with who becomes Iyaloja. Can you show us the lie there? Did you see the members of the Party running around flying Iyaloja banners or is it the PDP and posters like you who made everything about Tinubu and the ACN? Is it not, viewed factually and without sentiments, you and others who continue to insist hollowly that the opposite of what Igbokwe said is true when you have no facts at all to back this assertion? Disappointingly, you don't seem to understand that the most effectively useful citizens do not work with suspicion and 'gut instinct' - however strong such is. They simply, in the end, defer to what can be proven by facts available.
PoliticsRe: R-E-V-E-A-L-E-D: Yoruba/hausa-fulani Deal That May Topple PDP In 2015 by Gbawe:
ogb5: I was expecting this answer, if the yorubas don't care about the region of the president why don't they nominate fashola for example as presidential candidate for apc or any other Yoruba leader. Fashola will certainly be a more progressive choice for the country than any emergency leader they will bring up from the North.
I think you misunderstand what the APC is trying to do. The fixation on the Presidency is really myopic and indicative of how many Nigerians, even very intelligent ones, miss what matters due to lack of pragmatism and because they are sentimental/sectional in outlook.

The APC has an election to win against a ruthless ruling Party that will do anything to remain in charge and has the armed forces plus virtually all the pertinent institution at its beck and call. The Party cannot and should not be attempting to tick all the boxes for every Nigerian. The Party must, for many reasons that have been documented extensively, choose the candidates that presents the best chance for deposing the PDP as things stand today. Not the candidates you and other observers, the minority by far, continue to insist on as the "best combination".

The President alone cannot deliver Nigeria. He will do it with a meritoriously selected team to control important offices. It is in this regard the PDP fails Nigeria from one President to another. Under the PDP, 100 times out of 100, Nigeria will get a David Mark as senate President rather than an individual who can lead the Senate progressively to the glory of Nigeria. This is what the APC, if it captures the centre, can do better. Considering the Party, in reality and beyond deceitfully distracting talk about Ikimi, is home to some of the best and most effective leaders in Nigeria then we can be optimistic we will, since 1999, likely get a better team than any the PDP has given us.

As one example, we are likely to see a Femi Falana as AGF rather than an Aondoakaa or Adoke-Bello type. That is the big picture. The President, at this stage for Nigeria, mainly needs to be an enabler. The team that will run the Nation will matter a lot. It is therefore very important to choose, without sentiments, the President/VP combination likely to appeal to the majority which would not include me, you and most of us on this forum.
PoliticsRe: ACN Is Searching For Fashola’s Successor by Gbawe: 2:30pm On Jul 07, 2013
mbulela: I see your point but the crux of the matter is that he wants an able governor he can trust for obvious reasons. Fashola just got on with the business of running the state and developing it while leaving the politics and money sharing to Tinubu. the problem now is that most of the interested parties in the race are too street wise to accept such an arrangement besides Tinubu is not even sure of their ability (BRF has set the bar so high). SO let us see how he rolls the dice.
This may be true but have you kept up with the administration of Lagos to note some of the outstanding technocrats now involved in driving the State forward? Fashola has far more 'unsung heroes' available to him than Tinubu did when he chose the then unknown Fashola as his preferred successor. Folks should not worry about Lagos because an able candidate will emerge in the end as the ACN candidate and eventual Governor of Lagos.

plaindealer: Regardless of your Tinubu rants and fixation, Tinubu can not force Lagosians to the polls talk less making them vote for anybody, the ultimate power and decision rests with the lagos voters and electorates.

Personally, I'd love to see her run because she's capable and qualified just like the many many other skilled and talented folks Lagos state is blessed with.
This is the bottom line. The Party must still present a candidate acceptable to the Lagos electorate and that candidate, for many reasons, is not Remi Tinubu in my opinion.

My good man, you can come to your own conclusions. Suffice to say there should be no reason for the allocation of one State to be arbitrarily delayed since, ordinarily and in a stable period, disbursement must be initiated on time for all States otherwise any deprived State will find itself distressed and unable to meet essential obligations.

If OBJ had dont the same nigeria would have faired better.
The truth is that the plans for Lagos are fairly complex. The person to step in must be up to speed, as an involved and key member team player, with everything going on. I actually like Igbokwe. His 'bruiser' style may not be to everyone's taste but he gets it right saying that the problem of Nigeria can be placed at the door of Parties presenting unfit/undeserving candidates, for very important position, who will then bring everyone down to their mediocre level.

I believe whoever the Party will settle on will be someone entirely up to speed with all that Fashola is doing. It will be someone who can continue Fashola's work holistically and take advice from him.

FG Withholds Edo State Statutory Allocation – Oshiomhole Alleges
By: Bidon Mibzar on July 5, 2013 - 5:26am

Governor of Edo State Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has alleged that the bulk of the statutory allocation from the federal government due for his state is still unremitted.

Oshiomhole disclosed this yesterday at the Second Annual Seminar of the Public Complaints Commission, FCT, with theme “The Role of Public Complaints Commission in a Democratic Nigeria” which took place at the Yar’Adua Adua Centre, Abuja.

He stressed that when budgets were passed by the National Assembly and signed by the government, there was no need for the finance ministry to hold the money.

The Edo State governor, pleaded to the Public Affairs Commission to address the issue which he said he was aggrieved about

“The budget that has been passed, my own share which is meant for me to address the challenges facing the people of Edo State, part of the money has been withheld. The ministry of finance is not releasing my money in full. And I want to place on a notice that between February till now more than N1.8billion for a small state like Edo is being delayed by Abuja. I have to perfect my own credibility as a governor to deliver my responsibility to contractors, workers and everyone that needs government attention. This situation I am facing is of course not pleasant. Something must be wrong.

Something must be wrong if I as a governor can’t get my statutory allocation passed by the National Assembly and signed by the president. If I am not getting it, I am aggrieved. So PCC if you can help me, please do. Kindly go to the minister of finance and tell her to release my money. There are challenges and if we don’t manage them well, all of us stand the risk of losing our credibility in the eyes of our people.

Lawd !!!! So "the people" will choose the gubernatorial candidate for the Party? Or is it that Parties choose their own candidates and present them while the people, in a gubernatorial election, then vote for the State Governor they want?
