CelebritiesMy Music More Important To Me Than My Dressing – Simi by gbengapeter(op): 7:24pm On Feb 11, 2018
Singer, Simi has said her major focus is on
her
music, while every other thing is secondary,
PunchNG reports. She reacted to some
comments by fans online that her fashion
style
is below par. She stated,
“I believe that everybody is entitled to their
opinions. Some people may say that they
don’t
like my dress, shoes or any other thing. I
don’t find that surprising or strange because
there are also a lot of dresses and shoes
that
I don’t like. I like to be comfortable in
whatever I wear and that is what dictates
my
outfits.
“A lot of people have expressed their views
about my dress sense on social media.
Sometimes, I ‘humour’ them. You can
express
yourself on my page but don’t be rude or
insulting. Some of the people, who make
those
comments, are just full of hate and they just
go all around the Internet, looking for where
to
spread their hate. I am comfortable in my
own
skin and I just want to keep making good
music and connect with my true fans.”
Simi also shared her experience of being
the
chief bridesmaid at her mother’s second
wedding
some weeks ago, she said;
“It was a wonderful experience. Seeing my
mother so happy was something I definitely
enjoyed. I wish her and her husband best of
luck in their marital journey.”
Speaking on the success of her sophomore
album, Simi, she said;
“My last album, generated a lot of amazing
responses and it really humbled me. It truly
pays for one to be consistent and stay true
to
your roots. The album contains songs for
everybody and different moods and I’m
happy
that people are still discovering
messages f rom the album.”

CelebritiesMike Abdul Shares His Thoughts On Why Musicians Don’t Last In Nigeria by gbengapeter(op): 4:11am On Feb 05, 2018
Gospel singer Mike Abdul expresses his
opinion
on why music groups don’t last in Nigeria.
He
said this in a recent chat, where he clarified
that
Midnight Crew isn’t a dead group.
Being a member of the group that hasn’t
released a track in a long time, Abdul
confirmed
that the group is active and still one. Known
to
be one of the notable gospel singers in
Nigeria,
he explained thus;
“Even solo artistes don’t last for more than
10
years. The problem is not about being in a
group,
it has to do with the music business. I tell
people not to put pressure on artistes.
“If an artiste’s career doesn’t last for more
than
fiveyears, do not crucify him or her. A
musician
doesn’t need to be active forever. If you do
five
years as an artiste and you are getting
saturated, what stops you from taking a
break?
You can always come back after the break.
“The fact that some people are still relevant
for
20 years doesn’t mean everyone has such
grace.”

CelebritiesMen Change For Who They Want, Love Can’t Be Forced – Toke Makinwa by gbengapeter(op): 7:25pm On Jan 31, 2018
Media personality Toke Makinwa has taken
to
her Instagram page to advise ladies.
According
to her, love cannot be forced, and men
change
for who they want.
This!!!! I saw this and screamed amen so
loud
same thing I was telling someone
yesterday. It has nothing to do with you,
stop
blaming yourself for not receiving the kind
of
love you gave out, sometimes these things
don’t work because they just aren’t meant
to
be and that’s ok. People don’t change for
who
they want, people change when the time is
right and quite frankly growth happens when
you let it. That “bastard” is someone’s
future
husband and guess what? She’s not going
to
see that side of him. Not excusing bad
behavior but as I grow and learn, I realize
this
thing called love cannot be forced. Love
yourself enough to swallow that jagged little
pill called truth and walk away with your
head
high. You’ll meet your own king and you
won’t
need to beg or force him to treat you right.
Ladies this one is for
you. #Relationshiptalk#OnBecomingFearless
#Loveisagameofwin#evenifyouloseyoustillwin
#Takethelesson
Recall that the 3-year-old marriage between
Toke Maje Ayida was dissolved in
December, last
year.
Makinwa, is the co-host of the ‘Morning
Drive’ on
Rhythm 93.7FM, a vlogger and an author.
She had on March 9, 2016, asked the court
to
dissolve the marriage on the grounds that
the
husband committed adultery.
Justice Morenike Obadina, while delivering
judgment held that Ayida filed an answer to
the
petition but did not give oral evidence in
support
of it.
She said the position of the law was settled
as
pleadings did not amount to evidence.
Makinwa had told the court that her
husband
committed adultery with his mistress, Anita
Solomon, adding that the relationship
produced a
child.
She said since their marriage was
contracted,
the husband had “behaved in a way she
could
not reasonably be expected to continue to
bear”.

CelebritiesNigerian Man Buys Hol Actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Bugatti Veyron For $2.5 Mil by gbengapeter(op): 5:55am On Jan 31, 2018
A United States-based Nigerian businessman,
Obi Okeke a.k.a Doctor Bugatti, has just
acquired Hollywood actor, Arnold
Schwarzenegger’s Bugatti Veyron.
Legendary American actor, businessman,
philanthropist, politician, and former
professional bodybuilder, Arnold
Schwarzenegger, is one happy man today
after someone took his Bugatti Veyron off his
hands for a whopping about $2.5 million.
The buyer is Obi Okeke a.k.a Doctor Bugatti,
the same Nigerian US-based man who sold
Floyd Mayweather a similar whip.
Here is how TMZ exclusively broke the story:-
Arnold Schwarzenegger is one happy used
car salesman after someone took his Bugatti
Veyron off his hands … for about $2.5 million.
“We’re told Arnold’s 2015 Veyron — which
goes 0-60 mph in 2.5 secs — only had about
1,000 miles on it … so it’s a sweet ride.
“The buyer is Obi Okeke, aka Doctor Bugatti …
the same guy who sold Floyd Mayweather a
similar whip. Okeke plans to resell it, if you’re
in the market for something that tops out at
267 mph. And you can afford the inevitable
tickets.

PoliticsWhy We Should Educate Obasanjo – Buhari’s Min Slams Obasanjo Over ‘letter Bomb by gbengapeter(op): 6:30am On Jan 30, 2018
The effect of the ‘letter bomb’ of Obasanjo is
yet to die down, at least in the camp of
Buhari’s supporters as the minister of
communications on Monday, came down hard
on Obasanjo.
Speaking while addressing state house
correspondents at the presidential villa in
Abuja on Monday, the minister of
communications and the main leader of the
president’s reelection in the south-west,
Adebayo Shittu, came down hard on Obasanjo.
The minister who accused Obasanjo of
engaging in sensationalism, said if he were
ignorant of Buhari’s achievements, those
“who know” could enlighten him.
He asked Obasanjo to allow members of the
ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) decide
Buhari’s fate, saying the Nigerian leader is not
in the position to advise Buhari on the next
election year.
“Obasanjo as a Nigerian has the right to hold
an opinion. If Obasanjo holds an opinion that
Mr President has performed less than it
should be, those of us who are in the position
to know better have a right to also state the
other side which perhaps Obasanjo is ignorant
of,” he said.
“You see, there are some people who enjoy
engaging in sensationalism. With due respect
to General Obasanjo, if you take his history
over the last 30 years, there is hardly any
regime, other than his own, that he did not
criticise. Sani Abacha didn’t wait for Obasanjo
to criticise him before sending him to the
gulag.
“So, many Nigerians know that Obasanjo
enjoys this type of sensationalisation. In any
case, no matter what impression you have of
me, do you have a right to tell me not to
contest an election? I mean we should talk
like people who are educated, who know our
left from the right.
“There are procedures for elections. President
Buhari is a member of the APC and the APC
has its rules and regulations as to how
candidates will emerge, if members of the
party feel that the president has not
performed well enough, it is for them to show
that during the primary election. It’s not for
anybody to shortchange Nigerians and prevent
people from offering themselves for an
election.
“In any case, since Obasanjo is no more a
member of a party, with due respect, it
doesn’t lie in his mouth to tell us who among
our party members or leaders to contest or
not to contest. I think Nigerians should
concede this privilege to we the members of
APC to decide the fate of Mr President when
the next round of primary comes.”

CelebritiesN6 Gives His Verdict On Dorcas Shola Fapson And The Taxify Driver Incident by gbengapeter(op): 6:48pm On Jan 29, 2018
Rapper and OAP N6 weighed in on the
unfortunate incident involving Shuga actress
Dorcas Shola Fapson and a Taxify driver.
He addressed the incident, looking at it from
both sides and tried as much as possible not to
be biased. Not only did he address the two
people involved in the case, he also addressed
all those who weighed in on the situation.
Read his opinion/verdict below.

My Verdict after Critically Analysing the Issue
from Both Sides- “Nigerian Tales of Abduction”
made both Parties Paranoid. No real Harm is
to be Considered Intended on the side of both
parties.. I deduce that 2 people just happened
to meet each other on a Bad Day is all.
My Judgement – Confiscate the Assault
Weapon. Possible Short Term Anger
Management Classes for both Individuals.
Throw out all Charges of “Rape” or Abduction.
Social Media contributed to blowing it All out
of Proportion. Contrary to Popular Opinion, I
also do not think the Female was Manipulating
our Thought Patterns (Too many of Us are
Capable of Critical Thinking for that) She
merely Reported the Story as she “Felt It”. A
possible Reprimand for not Following Protocol
and Showing Anger towards a Passenger Is in
Order but that’s entirely up to @taxify.ng . The
Female should be Made to Pay a Paltry Sum of
N15,000 – N25,000 for ” Injuries Incurred” ..
The estimated treatment it would have cost
him if he got treated at a Government Hospital.
( LasLas Na Young Actress no be Genevieve)
Luckily the Pepper Spray stung his Eyes and
Nothing More. Social Media Calms down and
Everybody is Happy. But to everyone else who
chose to use this Issue to Portray
Unbelievable levels of Ignorance, To those who
Used the Matter to also “Trend”. To the
ManHaters, GenderWar Antagonists, Coded
Perverts, Notice Me people, The Trolls who
used it as an Opportunity to INSULT everyone
who merely expressed their Opinion,
Awon #TeamFakeWoke and those of you who
used this Matter to Further Fuel the
Underlying Embers of Anger amongst Young
Nigerians… UNA WEHDONE.. SHA MAKE ALL

CelebritiesRapper, CDQ Can’t Marry An Entertainer For This Reason by gbengapeter(op):
Indigenous rapper, CDQ during a chat with
Sunday Scoop, expressed his regrets on not
involving himself in a serious relationship before
he became famous.
The ace Yoruba rapper who shared some
interesting revelations about his past, childhood,
relationship and music career, made it known
that it has become very hard for him to find a
girlfriend in the entertainment industry.
He said;
“For now, I am still observing. I don’t plan to
marry anytime soon. I feel I will get married
when God says it is the right t for me. Getting a
wife would have been easier for me if I had a
girlfriend before I became CDQ; I think about
that
a lot.
When different ladies are interested in you, you
must be wise because you don’t know their true
intention.
Most girls, who like musicians, are only in love
with their music, not the personalities. But I
cannot marry an entertainer. Who will take care
of the kids when we both need to go for shows?
I don’t think love is blind enough for me to
ignore certain things.”
Speaking about his rise to fame, he said,
“When I wanted to leave my bank job, it was a
tough decision for me, but my producer,
Masterkraft, told me that I could not survive
with
the money I was getting from the bank.
You know when you don’t have money to do
things, you would doubt your talent. I thank
Masterkraft because he made me to believe in
myself. He assured me that things would work
out for me if I could put in my best and I’m
happy that things worked out.”

Education89% Of Nigerian Universities Fail To Make Top 5,000 In The World (see Details) by gbengapeter(op): 9:06am On Jan 28, 2018
According to the January 2018 Edition of the
Webometric Ranking, out of the over 25,000
higher Institutions in the World and 209
Higher instutions ranked in Nigeria only a
handful of 23 Universities (representing
11%)in Nigeria made top 5,000 in the World.
The Top 23 Universities which were led by the
University of Ibadan with a Global rank of
1099 followed in Second place by Covenant
University, Ota with 2,142 Global rank and
coming in Third place was Obafemi Awolowo
University.
The Top 23 Universities were dominated by 19
Federal Universities, 3 state Universities and 2
private Universities.
Covenant University Ota remained the Only
non – federal university in the top 10 ranking.
On the African Stage the University of
Capetown remained number 1 with a 290
Global rank while University of Ibadan ranked
11th place while Covenant University came in
at 34th.
Also worthy of note is that the Openness
indicator of Webometrics rated the University
of Nigeria, Nsukka in the latest edition of the
ranking as the most cited University in Nigeria
by Universities across the Globe.
In comparison to South Africa, Kenya and
Ghana Nigeria Universities were poorly
represented in the top 40 rankings in Africa.
The dismal performance of over 89% of
Nigerian Universities who couldn’t make top
5,000 could mostly be as a result of more
emphasis in the Excellence indicator of the
Webometric Ranking (which rates the top 10%
highly cited researchers in 26 disciplines)
which saw Excellence increase from 30-35%
and a decrease of Presence from 10-5%.
Methodology of the Webometric Ranking
Webometrics uses link analysis for quality
evaluation as it is a far more powerful tool
than citation analysis or global surveys. In the
first case, bibliometrics only counts formal
recognition between peers, while links not
only includes bibliographic citations but also
third parties involvement with university
activities. Surveys are not a suitable tool for
World Rankings as there is not even a single
individual with a deep (several semesters per
institution), multi-institutional (several dozen),
multidisciplinary (hard sciences, biomedicine,
social sciences, technologies) experience in a
representative sample (different continents)
of universities worldwide.
Research output is also key topic for
Webometrics, but including not only formal (e-
journals, repositories) publications but also
informal scholarly communication. Web
publication is cheaper, maintaining the high
standards of quality of peer review processes.
It could also reach much larger potential
audiences, offering access to scientific
knowledge to researchers and institutions
located in developing countries and also to
third parties (economic, industrial, political or
cultural stakeholders) in their local
community.
