Star actress, Funke Akindele-Bello, has said that she never saw herself becoming this great when she started her acting career with the popular series, ‘I Need To Know’. She was a guest on this week’s CNN ‘African Voices’, where she discussed her being a celebrated actress, her popular character ‘Jenifa’ and her latest project, “Industreet”. “When I started ‘I Need To Know’, I never thought I would be this celebrated. I was 20 years old then. When I shot the pilot I just wanted to do it, I wanted to showcase my God- given talent. I remember the director telling me I was overacting because I was excited about it,” she said. On ‘Jenifa’ she attributed the love that Nigerians have for the funny character to her never-say- die personality which exemplifies the Nigerian spirit. Funke said, “Jenifa is witty, she’s crazy, she’s a go getter, she doesn’t want to take no for an answer and I think I have that – I don’t want to take no for an answer“. Her new music-oriented show “Industreet” makes its debut today, Friday, May 26, 2017. source: https://peternewsonline..co.ke/2017/05/why-people-love-character-jenifa-so.html?m=1 |

Media personality, Toke Makinwa took to her Instagram to reveal how God came through for her after the lawsuit filed against her by ex-husband, Maje, and also how news of her marriage crisis made her lose a N20m deal. Read her post below…. “When God is involved, it can never be for less. In my life I have seen him come thru so many times I’ll be selfish if I keep it to myself. I remember when we started the OnBecoming tour, we approached a number of companies for sponsorship and one particular incident left me sooo broken. We had been talking back and forth and all was looking exciting till the news of the legal suit hit the press. I remember I was in Ghana and the night before OnBecominginGhana was amazing. I woke up in such high spirit till the news filtered the air and then I got that call, our “potential” had pulled out. I read that text over and over again in tears, they pulled out because they didn’t want to be thrown in the middle of it all (who can blame them) boy was I hurt, I was broken. I had put so much into this project and prayed so hard yet here I was disappointed, I felt I wasn’t good enough, I couldn’t pray and then it hit me, this has happened before, I remember when the news of my marriage hit the press I was in the middle of signing a 20million Naira deal, all was good to go till news broke and it seemed like what everyone was talking about. They pulled out. It was bad timing.I remember how I held the toilet bowl all night, I have never felt that kind of pain in my life. I have worked hard, prayed hard and God knows I needed that money. My life had changed overnight, I was trying to hold on to everything and it seemed like everything was working against me but God came thru, he provided much more than that deal and I have never had to look back to think “if only” I had that money, he kept blessing me. In both cases God over compensated me SA is looking really good , I can’t wait to share who our sponsor for the OnBecominginSA is, they are not just flying me to SA, my entire team is coming to and everything is paid for in full. Why do I share this you may ask? Perhaps you woke up this morning feeling defeated, you are about to stop trying, you’re so sure your idea sucks and no one will support you, hold on. You are closer than you know,. God has bigger and better plans for you, he knows you’ve cried all night, he knows what this means to you, he will come thru even better ” source: https://peternewsonline..co.ke/2017/05/toke-makinwa-reveals-how-sponsors-of.html?m=1 Cc: lalasticlala |

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has come out with 36 items considered valid for foreign exchange access. In a circular dated May 17, 2017, signed by the director, Trade and Exchange Department of CBN, W. D. Gotring, the bank said it was in response to the misconception emanating from the recent circular on items valid for forex allocation, stressing that the 41 items remained banned. But stakeholders affected by the policy have reacted to the bank’s decision. Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) said the concession by CBN for 36 items now included for foreign exchange would further lift the manufacturing sector out of the present economic doldrums. Reacting to CBN’s list of 36 items valid for access to foreign exchange in the foreign exchange market by the apex bank, the MAN president, Frank Jacobs, who spoke with EYES OF LAGOS ,said that though the association was yet to get the details on the list, it was commendable. “It is a step in the right direction, bearing in mind that those companies that have invested in the country, but could not produce due to lack of raw materials, can now get raw materials and commence production,” he said. The MAN president said the lift of restriction on those items may not be unconnected with several representations the association has made to CBN on the need to reconsider its position on the restriction placed on 41 items. He said MAN had broken down the list to 95, out of which it had made case for 42 items, noting that the 36 must have been out of the 42 banned items. “Information we are getting now is that only 36 items have been released; we are yet to get clarification. But those items must have been those not available because we do not have the capacity to produce them.” The CBN had in a circular to all banks and the general public, explained that the list of the 36 items valid was released to clarify misconceptions about details of the 41 items banned from accessing dollars in the foreign exchange market. source: https://peternewsonline..co.ke/2017/05/cbn-unveils-36-items-approves-for-forex.html?m=1 CC: lalasticlala |
