In which school, sir? Per NUC standard, you must score 40% to have E in any course. Anything below that is F.

Agbalowomeri:
Your required courses in the universities have a pass mark of 30% and compulsory courses 40%. So?

I think it will drop very sharply first, especially if there is no corporate action to announce the successful test running of their new installations, as I suspect we may need to wait to see it in their financial report.

Proper definition of village people.

Whether you talk or you no talk nothing will change. I have a friend to whom I have preach stock market investment for more than 10 years. He refused to invest because he believed that my "doings" cannot be from stocks. Fast forward to early last year he contacted me that someone asked him to "invest in PCEX". I shouted make he no go there. He went there secretly and the rest is history

I really don't know why this is difficult for people to know. Whether video or audio, whether the claims are false or true, we all operate independently in the market. Your lie cannot affect my truth, neither can your billion naira worth porfolio affect my tashere journey-just-dey-start portfolio. At best, ignore his advice/recommendation if you don't trust him. It's just very simple. There is no point swallowing paracetamol when you don't have a headache.

ACCESS was one of the few stocks I bought when I started investing about 2 years ago. I bought it at around N20. You bought today at N23. If I kept it since that time, it would be up by just some 20%.

Got a good volume of ACCESS at 23.65 naira today...

You are sweating this much over what you admit is his reality. That is what it is - His Realities. Don't be bothered about it. You should share yours and 'beautify' it with all the woes you just listed. Maybe that way, you would find some comfort.

deathwing:
You yourself wrote "This reality led me to a deeper question: Why do so many citizens of this same country, one that is rewarding many ordinary citizens handsomely, spend so much time cursing it and its leaders?"

You drew a line from your $9500 dividend to cast aspersion on people who are cursing the country and leaders (and rightly so, since we are amongst the poorest nations on earth). I endeavoured to let you know that it's not all about money..and that your metric for success is dim. People just above mimum wage in some countries live better than most of us in Nigeria. The woman you pitied because she got $335 can get a helicopter to a fully funded hospital if she collapses. She can get social security, loans to pretty buy anything she wants, insurance to take care of her most expensive health bills, and the assurance that the police and three helicopter be at her location if she calls 911 even inside a forest.

I have no idea why you are calling me broke and bitter even though you don't know me, and I made no reference to your own status. I don't care about the dividends you received. Your story does not move me because that's not why I am here. I am simply letting you know that your reality is but a slim vista and that you can be more empathetic.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by GeeKudi: 2:41pm On May 06
He simply shared his story and experience, which happens to be cheering to the ears. If what others have is all woes and suffering and they want to share it, they should just go ahead. There is no point trying to silence/diminish someone's success story because you feel it makes the government look good. Share your own and make the govt look bad.

Asangbekoko:
If you have really been posting your achievements in good faith, there is no reason why you should have responded to the post under reference.
He simply commented that the socio-economic situation is hard outside there, to the extent that a very few number of people have something extra to invest like us.
He therefore concluded that you should not use the rosy time we are currently enjoying in the ngx as indeces of the socio-economic situation in in the country, and use same indeces as parameter to praise the present government.
I don't think that there is any harm in this opposing reasoning faculty.
And I don't see any reason why this response should have generated any cantankerous steam from you my dear friend.
You can't be always right.
One love.

InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by GeeKudi: 9:54am On May 04
Merci beaucoup

chimex38:
Yes, not correct.
But naa.. Don't belittle your hardwork and your breakdown process.

You didn't make double deductions for dividend as you claimed.
You rightly used the reference closing price-258 at the end. It correctly avoided the doubled deductions you implied if you had used 251.75

@ bolded
Dividing by 7 rather than 8.
seem to be the only error you made.
Corrected error
251.75 / 8 = 31.468
31.468 + 6.25. = 37.718.
258 - 37.718= 220.28

A 1 for 1 bonus requires a division by 2 (1+1=2)
Hence, a 1 for 7 bonus therefore should require a division by 8(1+7=8 )

Both you and awesomeJ's methods seem correct. Good for learning. wink
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by GeeKudi: 9:13am On May 04
This thing they call bonus shares, how is it bonus since we end up paying for it via price adjustment?
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by GeeKudi: 9:05am On May 04
Yes. You are right. My calculations ended up making double deductions for the dividend. That can’t be correct.

awesomeJ:
If the bonus is 1 for 7, then the 8 new shares at the new price must be worth exzactly thesame as the 7 shares at the old price.

251.75*7/8 should be 220.28.

The ceiling of 220.3 will be taken due to the 0.10 pricing step.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by GeeKudi: 8:44am On May 04
But the new shares were already paid for. Why would there be a price adjustment again? Adjustment is done for bonus issues because they are allotted free and the price adjustment makes provision for them.

Sunrisepebble:
Are you sure. I thought shares were adjusted if additional shares are created. It’s a dilution. For NB it would have. It would depend on the new shares issued to determine the adjustment.
I can’t say for sure sha. It’s why I’m asking

InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by GeeKudi: 8:15pm On May 03
Unfortunately, there is no provision for independent candidacy. How do you hope to win elections in a democracy rooted in party politics without being a party man? You cannot win elections banking on the spontaneous anger of some social media crowd. How could 2023 not have taught him a lesson? Isn’t it obvious that Kwankwaso is only hoping to use him to gain control of South East against 2031? May we not labour for others to reap.

Streetinvestor2:
Is it the party that people following obi are interested or the person of obi.How old can some people be self. What is our business with the party obi uses to become president
Our interest is obi becoming president for a better Nigeria. If obi moves to apc tomorrow u will celebrate it..rubbish

My eyes on oando and Dan sugar from tomorrow till this failed government is kicked out
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by GeeKudi: 7:47pm On May 03
What was he doing in the ADC in the first place? How could he not know from the outset that going there was a trap for him? You keep claiming APC and govt are frustrating your political moves. Did they blindfold him from knowing he was walking into a trap?
The NDC he has gone to now, does Seriake Dickson have two heads to have been able to form and nurture a party where he has a say? After losing in 2027, what would be his next move? Hijack the control of the NDC from Dickson to be able to build for the future or he will be looking for another platform? LP was handed to him on a platter, he ran away.

GeneralDae:
I am no supporter of Obi but NDC with Kwankwanso and Binani looks way saner to me than that ADC with Atiku, Malami, Tambuwal, Dino et al. So I think he made the right decision this time.

InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by GeeKudi: 11:46am On May 01
Personally, I don't even see any weakness from the Q1 2026 report, at least operationally. But I'm not an expert, so, I could be wrong.
Revenue actually grew by 7.5% YoY (Q1 2026: ₦100.86bn, Q1 2025: ₦93.79bn +7.5% YoY) and cost of sales improved slightly by -4.8% YoY.

The draw downs I see in the report are the FX loss (2026: ₦6.37bn loss) compared to a gain in 2025 (₦0.18bn gain) and the ballooned tax charge of ₦19.99bn compared to ₦11.03bn for Q1 2025. These are not items that should raise a red flag. So, I don't believe there is going to be a major pull back.

The concern on the slowing dividend payout must be put in the proper perspectives. With their recent acquisitions, PRESCO is moving into a scale-up mode and would rather put more money into the business at high Return On Invested Capital than paying everything out. I will be watching out for opportunities to add more if it really pulls back.

crownprince2017:
I believed some people don't understand how the business under a stock s run.
I think the appreciation many are enjoying In presco today was as a result of low dividend in the past which were then reinvested.

They slowed down on aggressive peanut dividend in the last two years n needed to go back in 2025 to clean the books for an excellent performance.

Based on that q1 results, presco can never go to full offer based on final dividend.

Did you even think for a moment on the latest acquisitions in that year. You didn't want to sacrifice anything for those growth.

I pray for full offer to buy more on Monday.

By q3, you will queue for presco at 3k n u no go see.

Sell presco n buy gt or zenith since they can give you more in dividend but I'm sure they can't give you more in capital appreciation than presco with even the good dividends combined.

Chaii! Are you not wicked like this grin

No one is immune to these things; can happen with/to anyone. No matter your experience, level of sophistry or the tools at your disposal, there is always a bit of speculation in every decision an investor makes and the market will always have the final say.

215.79

258 - 6.25 = 251.75 ---------> you deduct dividend before making provision for the bonus shares
251.75/7 = 35.96
35.96 + 6.25 = 42.21
258 - 42.21 = 215.79
