I will not advice anyone to come to canada again on a study permit . If you must travel on a study permit go to Europe for now especially countries with cheaper tuition and hope of staying after study

Countries like?

1. Ontario university/college degree, college diploma, advanced diploma or equivalent in an area of Information Technology: computer engineering, software, hardware, networking or a related discipline.

2. Applicants with a degree or diploma in another discipline with demonstrated knowledge of IT Networking will be considered for Admission.

3. Applicants with significant related work experience that is the equivalent of the above may be considered for Admission. A relevant resume and references must be provided.

I cannot fund a 2yrs programme. It's too expensive. The cost of living is high for 2 yrs and the best I can do is go for 1yr programme.

I have a B.Sc in Biochemistry. I have been in Tech for over 7yrs now. I audio and video edit on fiverr.com/MasterCraft360. I love tech and everything it offers. My only worry is the effect on PGWP application. I hear tech is as important as health.

It highly depends on what you want from the country. I can't recommend anything specific, but I advise against going for a one-year program unless you have a serious plan for obtaining your PR after working for one year. Remember, schooling for one year will get you a one-year work permit, and it's difficult to get a job right out of school unless you are highly proactive.

It typically takes an average of 4 to 6 months to secure a job. Life after school is difficult without a plan; the country isn't the same as it used to be, 2015 to 2022 Golden immigration years in Canada so you need a serious plan.

For tech jobs like software development, product manager, program manager, business analyst, software engineer, automation system engineer, or system DevOps engineer, you will have better job prospects.

I can't recommend anything specific, but be aware that Justin Trudeau will be out of power by October 20, 2025, and the new conservative government might not be as kind to immigration as the current administration.

As of today, you can get a PGWP as long as your school is approved by the government. I can't remember the exact name, but it's better to do a Master's degree if you have a BSc from Nigeria.

A lot of things are changing daily with immigration, so plan for life after school because the country isn't as welcoming as before.

That's my honest opinion.

If you're not sure you can use a 1 year study program to get PR, you can just lockdown on a 2 years course.
It depends on your financial capabilities.

The finances for a 2yrs study course is too much. Thank you for verifying this. This will go a long way to help me. God bless you.

I just remembered when I used to be a silent reader here, and I want to share my story to give hope to anyone feeling hopeless. Back in 2015 and 2016, I faced back-to-back visa rejections. However, I finally got my student visa in 2017.

Life hasn't been easy, but I want to encourage anyone going through tough times that it’s worth it—don't be discouraged.

Today, I received my Canadian passport at my house. Yes, I bought a 3-bedroom townhouse 45 minutes from downtown Toronto. I did this by myself, working in tech and saving 20% for the downpayment.

This is to encourage anyone feeling down due to multiple visa rejections or any visa issues. Pray to God and let Him answer you.

I now understand why God made me go through those visa rejections. When I came to Canada, the opportunities that awaited me were the ones He had planned for me. Don’t give up!

I have two friends in Canada and they are fueling my confusion.

One said applying for a 2yrs course is better cos it gives 3yrs PGWP.

The other said, I can apply for 1yr course, come into the country, complete the 1yr course. Apply for another 1yr course and then apply for PGWP after completing the second course. That I'd still get the 3yrs PGWP

I need to know which is better. Funds for a two years course is high. It will be good news if the second person is correct.

You would need to consider somethings before applying to a school in Canada , that being said:

- What did you study in the University/Polytechnic?

- Are you a Bachelor's degree holder or HND holder?

- Do you have a 2.1, 2.2 or Upper Credit , Lower Credit?

- What year did you graduate? (to address study gaps)

- Are you working? IF YES, what job are you into (Job title) & how many years now have you been doing the job?

- Is your work experience related to what you study for your Bachelors degree/HND? (For Academic/Career Progression purposes
