Odejimi is a village guard He had been "favored" by Chief Bala, for the job. His take home pay couldn't take him home, His uniform was sold to him, His arrows? on a daily rentals, To takes illegal taxes And remit to Odegbemi, his superior, who in turn remits a part to Ode aperin, the regional head guard, Who in turn settles Oluode, the overall chief guard, For favoring him with his position. So, Odejimi went haywire, For he needed more and more, With his greed came violence, And uttermost disregard for the villagers’ lives. At the time of the tenth full moon, The young men arose, "Odejimi must go", they chorused! Chanting from compounds to yards, We will no longer be killed or maimed!! Then arose Oluode, feeling threatened. "These sons of anger would dare deliver themselves from our grip?" Shall the prey be taken away from the mighty? Arrows and swords, Sorrows and blood From the square in 'Lere to the olori ebi's compound in 'Moso, Bodies of young men lie lifeless! Ojó burúkú Èsù gbomimu The bad day the devil drank beer! How shocking! The young folks won’t go home. They were more resolute than ever! So in haste, the Oluode thought of tricks, And in his history of junk tales he found one... "Hear Ye people, The night guard has been disbanded" And in moronic haste he concluded, "We shall now have the nocturnal guard" "Thou mad man, stop disguising" The youths would have none of the bunkum!!! So, everyone is angry The people, Odejimi, Odegbemi, Ode Aperin and Oluode Hence, no one could end the scuffle but one, The Baale Oko ilu, the village's head, Who unfortunately suffers from ear blocks, A medicine-defying case of stubborn ear disease, That only relieves him when his clan's herds are affected. And thus the beat goes on Who shall deliver the ancient village of Ayédáàdé ![]() The above is a mischievous imagination of an amateur story teller, any resemblance to real life events is a miracle and should not be investigated. Hello people, I have a few questions please... From a new Uber business venture: 1. Is 20k per week delivery possible now in this covid period? Is it a good one? 2. Is the driver supposed to do maintenance of the vehicle by himself? 3. Which device is best suited for Uber? iPhone 7, 6, how good are they for these apps? Thanks so much. Cc: Izzou Felicity001 |
I don't blame these politicians who take us or a ride all the time. I blame the cretinous fools who take up e-fights, cursing and swearing over them while they enjoy and even eat together in secret. There is no PDP/APC it's all about platforms for selfish ends. |
Why stressing the "Neighbourhood"? You're trying to direct angst against the Neighbourhood watch in other places? Dumb much? |

It is a good thing to do, it should however not just be a period of sanitation but also security awareness, health talks, other health related activities and community service. CDAs should be empowered to oversee these activities, all youths MUST be involved, we need to build the service and responsibility mindset in youths, most of us see the sanitation period as a good time for street football, it's not good for supposed future leaders. Let's build strong communities through meaningful engagements on these Saturdays as well, the LNSC, LAGIESC and health workers should work together with communities. We look forward to a greater Lagos, may Sanwoolu succeed, may Lagos succeed. |

It's a fact that Lionel Messi is more talented than his rival, Christiano Ronaldo, but Ronaldo is more hardworking than him. Ordinarily, an unbiased analyst will always put Messi ahead of Ronaldo when it comes to what both players can do with the ball, but in terms of getting results, I think a lot of people would give it to Ronaldo. The art of music is found more in Wizkid than Davido, he is a better singer than Davido, but Davido is more hardworking than him, he is a better 'showboy' in the music business than Wizkid. Messi enjoys the game while Ronaldo exploits the game. Just as Wizkid lives the art while Davido drives the art. Messi believes the world knows he is good, apparently pays less attention to the Messi brand, while Ronaldo on the other is investing so much even outside soccer in the Ronaldo brand. Wizkid relies on his beautiful voice and good songs to do the magic, while Davido understands clearly his weaknesses, hence the shooting of video for all his songs which make them hits, and the dramatization of the premiere of his videos, this approach has been working for him. Messi sees every game as yet another game but Ronaldo selfishly enters every game with the hope of being the match winner. Messi ruled the world for four consecutive years, while Ronaldo was on one only, but he came from behind to equal Messi, and even seems on the verge of winning one more than Messi, that's hardwork. Wizkid won several local, and international awards, but Davido came from behind to win all those awards Wizkid won, and it looks like he will win more than Wizkid this year too, that's hardwork. I will not end this analogy without stating that, Neymar suffers same fate as Tekno. Neymar is a world best material but unfortunately for him, Messi and Ronaldo dominance has denied him of that. Same way the rave of Wizkid and Davido is suppressing incredibly talented Tekno in the world of music. Written by Sledge Mc (Copied with permission) Facebook.com/ Sledge Mc |

I do not need to bore you with details of the world cup winning French squad and how a large percentage of the player are Africans. Over centuries, the problem with Africa remains the same, her inability to manage her own resources,be it natural or human, her ineptitude in converting her natural resources to good use, her consistent dependence on the west to help her manage her own resource. Africa's petroleum, gold, diamond etc comes to mind. If Nigeria, Africa's biggest country can not refine its own petroleum or convert it's own cocoa to tea or chocolate after almost sixty years of Independence, relying on the west to convert and sell back to her, how then does anyone expect her to meet up with Europe's level of industrialization? If Mbappe, Pogba et al were to remain in Africa to represent their different countries of birth, chances are that they would either be frustrated by greedy football federation officials or outrightly neglected for those who can pay their way into the national team, whoever is lucky enough to shine in Europe might end up financing the rest of national team same way Mikel Obi did when faced with imminent financial embarrassment due to the corruption of this same federation officials. A certain Yoruba idiom says that if you give a mad man hoe to cultivate the ground, he would still make ridges in his own direction, this explains why the west continues to prosper at Africa's expense, on Africa's resources foolishly given, on Africa's manpower, on Africa's"sweat". Will this continue for the next centuries? The answer, unfortunately, is YES, unless something drastic is done and Africa begins to manage her own resources and tell her own story (a matter for another day), a lesson or two from China's rise to industrialization will suffice. It is well... Ilesanmi Samuel Iyanu writes from Lagos, Nigeria. |
The husband is a baby in a man's body The wife is terrible at crisis management, a man is angry you called him an animal, rather than apologize, you kept laughing like it's nothing, who raises these relationship misfits really? The two "both of you" should gut GTFO with your nuisances, next topic please |

This guy should take the case up... First, the SARS officials who slapped him have absolutely no business in law enforcement agency in a civilized society, they should be dismissed ASAP, the way that guy was being slapped, I wonder what would happen in their station. The employer should be made to face the music too, this is the height of wickedness. You go to school for years, graduate and end up with some inhuman boss, the plight of the Nigerian graduate! The problem is nothing would be done, in the end, his family will pay same SARS to bail their son out, the other employees will be more scared to insist on their rights when necessary, smh. |

Don't be silly You can't be working for first bank and expect salary alert from GTB You can't be working for British American tobacco and work with anti-smoking campaign groups You can't be dating a new guy and expect your ex to keep funding the bills You can't be attending an opposition meeting with the guy's car, is your brain paining you? Btw, may we never be "empowered" with such scrap as this. |
