tunboy:Hello, the Post UME you requested information for is already out. Hurry now, go for it. |
guruno1:But the practical manifestation of the new life is of great importance. Will those who totally keep themselves from the influence of the world have a better heaven than those who embrace modern christianity? |
Does he accept poetry? |
JJYOU:What sins do you mean, if I may ask? I hope you did not think I had a shady intention then. There was a very sensitive need and treating it with either levity and frivolity was out of question. And do you suppose that one might put up a post without valid reasons just for the fun of it. Treating human problems playfully has either caused situational indifference or complete lack of trust in the human family. I hope you are as concernaed as I want to believe you are,JJYOU. |
Are you a good girl now or before? |
Nikky23:Well,the deed has been done and one cannot go back to the past, no, not in any way at all. You should know that although God may punish someone fpr an offence yet it is not His will that any should remain so. You kept on asking yourself, "why me," as though it could not happen to anyone so. Everybody is conscious of himself/herself and can react so. Mind you, a lot of people are in a geater complicated case than yours. Tell me, if A deadly disease was contracted what would you be saying? Or if you were abandoned with pregnancy of a fatherless child? What you encountered is just the first and easiest step when when it comes to measuring the magnitude of what such things can cause. Nikky23, are you really willing to go over this? |
Abuzola:The mere mention of "peace" in the bible by Jesus Christ is not in any way alluding to Islam. Now tell me, as your name is Abuzola, does that hinder any other person from taking the same name or naming his/her child Abuzola? That "christianity wasn't mentioned in the bible is untrue. The word christianity is from the root word christian and was given to the disciples of Christ at Antioch in Acts 11:26. Christianity is a noun while christian adjective. Do you now see how pernicious your views are? |
Nikky23:Do you mean to say that your conscience still bothers you? |
Nikky23:Do you not think that such could invariably lead to premarital sex? Why are some girls feeling so bad after being dumbed by their partner if not that a closer intimacy existed between them? |
Nikky23: |
and what if i tell you that my pastor suggested doing this? what is wrong with reading a random chapter in the bible if I may ask? what is so magical about it
your pastor had good intention to say so, but he's not God. It's time we face it the way God wants it . |
Nikky23:You called him your boyfriend. Before I answer that tell me is boyfriend/girlfriend affairs permitted by God? |
yea it's not the general rule. that's for sure just for when you're feeling unmotivated. it helps to read a fresh, random passage. doing that will sometimes cause you to come back later on to finish/ continue that section. does my description sound like magic? lol ![]() [/quote Ofcourse , your prescription does sound like magic. The word of God is spiritual. It is not to be taken lightly. Any feelings that repels one from reading it, nay, studying it must not be termed ordinary. I once knew someone who gets sleepy whenever he wants to read the bible. He was able to overcome it only when he dealt with the cause of his separation from God. Again, an individual's heart grew so cold that he hungered no more for the word of God. He sincerely identified that he has allowed evil thoughts to infiltrate into his heart producing lust and interest in the mundane things of this frail life. He knew the love of God as well as the dangers of remaining in that state. God helped him because he made some effort to "abstain from all appearances of evil."
|
Nikky23:Your protest is quite unclear please can you make yourseif clearer? |
Take your bible, put your two thumbs between the covers, close your eyes and open a random page. read the chapter you first come across for the day. do this frequently that's how I read my bible when I have no motivation. lol
Mind you the bible is not a book on magic! You may try it and it worked for you but that does not in any way make it a general rule in reading God's word. It is even better to advise on reading portions of the bible which are of great interest to the seeker.E.g David and Goliath, Samson and Delilah, The Three/Thirty Mighty Men of David, etc. |
Nikky, oh dear Nikky! How come you allowed mere mortals to pull you away from God? Where you engaged to him? Because that's the only way to morally justify your being with him at the first instance. |
Sorry please accept my sympathy, but how did it happen? You know we are just trying to be of great help. |
Hello christian Nairalanders, I sometimes try to understand why various christians believe in different patterns of the manifestation of the New Life in Christ. Some believe in remaining outwardly wordly with the notion that God looks at the heart. Others keep themselves from the systems of the world, avoiding it's influence as much as the grace of God in them can carry them. They tend to practice Romans 12:1-2. The remaining part of christians remain inbetween - they can manage anything they see. They can adapt to any of the above lifestyles. I usually ask myself these questions: what does it mean to be born-again? What are the consistent evidences of this spiritual experience? Does God have His own specified evidences? Have we (christians ) corrupted the Word of God to accommodate the infirmities of the flesh, giving room for our lower nature? Is Christ mistaken when He said we are in the world but not of the world? What does He mean by our "taking the cross and (truly) following Him?" If the way to heaven is narrow, how is it applicable to the lifestyle s we adopt in our christian walk with God in the name of Christ? Should the mistakes of certain believers in their quest to apply the word of God be an avenue for rejecting the genuiness of their actions and the inner conviction in our hearts that the way they are treading could lead to eternal life? The above questions keep me bothered most the time. Why should we ask someone, " Are you TRULY born -again? as though being born-again is more than one. It should scripturally be either one is born-again or not. The GRACE OF GOD was made manifest one of the days of my mortal existence. A very wordly girl was literally visited by a spirit. According to what she narrated to me, the spirit call her name and practically moved towards her. She screamed and woke her mum who lay beside her. The spirit which was in shining white disappeared. Her heart was troubled and she was obviously terrified. I prayed over this to be certain she is not deceived by some kind of evil spirit. She was almost concluding that God visited her. My own convictions were otherwise. I asked God to really show Himself and I went in faith with a scripture that was stirred up in my spirit. On reaching her home, according to our appointment, she was already sitted . By the grace of God, I began to speak. Suddenly the heavens were opened and two large white books descended. One was thrown open and I preached to her, judging her from the account of her life as was written in the volume of the book. I have never seen so much tears , so many pleadings for God's forgiveness, so great conviction of sin as the one this immoral and proud girl manifested. Right there and then she gave her life totally to Christ. I did not preach on dressing, earrings wordly slangs, etc. I just left her in the hands of The Spirit of God , The Great Teacher, and this girl was so transformed to the extent that nobody doubted her new life in Christ. She shunned wordliness and became modest in appearance. This manifestation of God's will changed my views and I wondered if we( christians) truly know what God wants to do and how He wants to do it. So I ask you my friends, Are there various born-again experiences? If there are then which is the "real one?" |
Nikky23:What really broke your heart? |
Nikky23, many also are in the same spiritual condition as you complained of and are as much confused too. It has even driven some to totally abandon the christian life and ministry to await eternal damnation. You need to lay your foundation first just as others have said or retrace your step back to God in higher consecration. But mind you that there are things we must ask in order to receive. King David prayed for the joy of salvation to be granted him and it was(Psalms 51:8-12).One should love the Heavenly Father and feel unspeakable joy in His Word. In christianity you must not be ignorant of your rights but in humility and godly sincerity lay hold on them. One cannot afford to be merely a passive participant in the things pertaining to christianity. Find out what God says concerning how you feel, whether you are motivated or encouraged by it or not does not matter. Hold on to the promise and pray as you can. Pray even though you feel unable to do so, for "we live by faith and not by sight." Mind you that nobody in Christ lacks moments of great anguish of spirit and times of wilderness experience. God is always by our side to guide and uphold us when it seems to get to the extremes. We must be properly trained like legitimate children, and what way could be better?(Hebrerws 12:1-13) Above all learn to analyse your every problem to find out what it is, when it began, what caused it, It is probable that a few times of fellowshipm with the right group can be used by God to bring you into what you should be. It could be fasting and praying for a day or two, or rising on your feet in boldness to command that spirit of depression to leave. Finally, it should be noted that in the NEW CONVENANT/TESTAMENT we can can be how and what we want only by doing, behaving and practicalizing it so.This is what some men of God often emphasis - and some unduely overemphasise it neglecting the part that submissive prayer plays. We must seek The Spirit's help and it is through fervent prayer of faith that He comes to help us espescially in areas where we are most vulnerable to the attacks of the devils(Romans 8:26-27). |
Hello Mamamia18, sorry if my request for your call sounded suspiscious in any way. It is likely that your experiences have made you a bit cautious. That is the aim of every human experience. Many have given their pieces of advice and they are very valuable. Meditate on them and allow your God-led judgement to direct you on the best step to take concerning this critical issue and moment. Any wrong step you take may may be unpleasant, you should note that. The things of the kingdom is of great concern to God and he undoubtedly watching to know whether this experience will create love, longsuffering and a strong backbone on your journey to the kingdom. We are in a training field and one must encounter many things in order to learn in christiandom, even from prominent christians. Remember the old saying "christianity is not a bed of roses." Apostle Paul encountered such(2 cor. 6:1-10;11:-27). Please understand that it is mainly humans that we interact with. You don't expect trouble from cows or goats,do you? Though we make contacts with other things yet they are given or controlled by humans.E.g food, shelter, computer, etc. Concerning the church, a lot of people are at various stages of spirituality. They are often tempted by the never -sleeping foe, the devil. You must learn to consider anything before applying them.(Acts 17:11; 1 John 4:1;Matthew 16:22-23). Concerning giving, an ideal church is recognised as The Family of God and in a typical family unit resources must be used. Since it is God's house, it is abundantly controlled by God. He speaks to your spirit either to give or not. In addition, you know what you can do and what you cannot, so in your heart you may take a firm stand. It is not forever, you may do something if you have it and feel like giving next time!(2 cor. 8:12) Everyone has areas where God begins His training. A lot of things is to be done for God in the nearest future and He, in His infinite wisdom , prepares His instrument ahead of time. It is often than not through various encounters either good or seemingly bad(Romans 8 : 28-39). I had wanted to share my very personal experience with you due to the nature of that experience I thought it wise to keep it from this post. A tablet is usually made to cure a particular illness. Others may not see it the way you do, for you are the individual with the "ailment", so to speak(John 16:12). Nevertheless, I want to tell you that I had such experience. I have remained a child of God for ten years now. I repented when I was still a small boy. Read the scripture, it tells you who and how a child of God is; use it to patiently and compassionately measure anything or anybody that comes to you(John 5:39). That was what saved me in my formative stage of christianity. Don't fear to do so ; you should only fear the dangers of not applying the Word of God in every situation. Furthermore, my dear sister as well as fellow Nairalander, it is high time you began to think of examining the group you follow in the worship of God. Listen to the inner voice of The Spirit in you since you are a child of God(2 cor. 13:3-5). If you feel like seeking for a group of christians that possesses the true qualities of Christ, do so. It is better to be where your soul shall find eternal peace with God than to be detained by the fear of man(1 cor. 7:17-24). Finally, I admire your spirit of repentance when you felt sorry for putting this thread. Don't condemn yourself unneccessarily. It kills the soul of the young in the Lord. It almost killed me then. You made no great mistake in sharing your problems. However, God loves you and the tender heart you have developed. His mercies are upon you already(Psalms51:17) We in Nairaland love you dearly and pray that GOD will grant you knowledge and wisdom to discern His will in all things from now on until you are filled with the fulness of God and settled both in life and ministry in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen. It is divinely advisable that you SEEK for a good christian sister to be your spiritual companion. Don't be deceived in believing that there are no sound christians available ; there are, I promise you. That is why I say SEEK for them. It helped me in my years of similar confusion. Don't allow the devil to lead you from your state of confusion to total hatred of the people of God. I t will be from frying pan to fire- a BIGGER SPIRITUAL COMPLICATION and TRANSGRESSION. You can still love whoever deceived you. However pray earnestly to your Father in heaven for better instructions and guidance. Remain Blessed. 0 |

I have been advised by a close friend to cut down my age and make it well below thirty so that I may be permitted to go for Youth Service. I am not yet thirty but I will be by the time I graduate.I was also told that many ministries and companies tend to employ only those able bodied men and women who are below thirty because it is generally believed that they are filled with fresh ideas and physical strength. To me it is against my confidence in God and HIS power to do all things. Yet I want Nairaland friends to rightly advise me because I feel totally confused sometimes. |
Ogaga, I just hope all this is a joke because it sounds absurd. In any case we believe that first impression matters! The existence of God was the first thing created on your mind when you were born just as it does on every child who comes of age. Right now I know that your conscience tells you the reality of the spiritual and the vanity of this life. Now if there is hell then there is heaven too just as you made mention of black and white. 1 |
Christianity is basically a life of faith and faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. The bible tells us that by it the elders obtained a good report. God has no form and just as one of us stated,He is whatever we create Him in our mind to be. What matters to us is that He is willing and even humble enough to come into our situation.GOD HAS NO SPECIFIC COLOUR. See Isaiah 53:2. |
and lastly 2 peter 2:9 show forth the praise of him that has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
your pastor had good intention to say so, but he's not God. It's time we face it the way God wants it .
