Without that no christian will ever fully realise the enormous blessings of God. Many christians are perishing for want of "the joy of the Lord," they complain that they don't enjoy their christian life and yet they are oblivious of the fact that they hadn't followed all the counsels of God.

I put it to you that there's no shame in christianity. It's only those who don't study the word of God that call it outdated.

What God expects christians to do in the case at hand are these: first of all to pure in heart towards Him and towards our fellow men, especially the opplosite sex.

Secondly, one must realise that the real life of a christian stems from the kind of spirit he/she has. Heaven, we believe, is pure and holy and what other mindset could be better accepted, my good friend?

Most importantly is the fact that we must be free from the evil desires that have been the bane of the society at any time we live in. Inasmuch as we love people, we also know that not all will contributetowards our kind of mindset: some may attempt to rob of it. We are to wear good clothes, buy good cars, marry wives, travel abroad, etc, but in the absece and delay of these, how do we feel or react? This is the essence of christianity. People lie, cheat, fight.kill, blackmail in order to progress in life. A christian is one who feels contented with what he/she has at present. Yet if a good and sin-free opportunity comes, he utilises it(1 corinthians 7:17-21).

Furthermore since it is expected that a man who believes in an idea, let alone the ultimate reality, show it we live in a way that will not corrupt others or give them the impression thsat we are living in affectation. There are modern modest clothes in the markets, aren't they? There are cool businesses as well and I strongly believe that God will never allow evil to totally prevail over the earth.

So dear one, we live by example; to show others the right way in which there's peace, frrdom of conscience towards God and men,and fulfilment both in this world and in the world to come.

In the benevolent government of God, He's willing that all make use of their power of choice to love Him and come to Him. A good ruler will never force his subjects. God created us as full moral agents and His love shows itrself in the abundance of things He allows us to freely enjoy(Matthew 5:43-48).

God told Moses that no man will see Him and live(Exodus 33:18-20).

In the Divine order, we must worship God in spirit and truth if we are to feel after Him. Some germs have been known to be so minute that only powerful microscopes can barely see them. Scientists painstakingly go through all this, why shouldn't mankind carefully seek eternal wellbeing?

Miracles are meant to give divine authenticity to the preaching of the word(Hebrews 2:1-4). Some other religions do perform miracles, signs and wonders, and they adhere to austerity, ascetic way of life,etc; violators are stictly disciplined.

On the contrast in christianity, God dispenses abundant benevolence and wishes all to repent and come to the knowlege of the truth. H knows the ungodly will eventually perish in hell, and He will give them enough time and even grace to explore His mercies and graces.

In the olden days, people used a yoke of oxen to plow their field. Now a yoke is that thick rod tied to each of the cows or oxen that the farmer used. The yoke makes them move together in the same direction, at the same pace and without any of the cows going farther than the other.

Now concerning the issue raised , using the reality of the above explanation, a christian who yokes together with an unbeliever is that christian who moves with unbelievers as best friends(life-long friendship), moves in the same direction of fashion, desires, taste, the same desperate pursuit for the things of the world. Infact that christian moves when unbelievers move, buys the latest when they buy, rest when they do, and remains there until the owner (farmer) of life and death comes for deliverance(that is when the person's conscience is touched by the Spirit of God during prayers, preaching, special crusades,etc).

It's a pity that we still lack understanding on the purpose of miracles.

My God, my God why all these things? Nairalanders, what's our motive in the religion section? Are we achieving the purpose? Are there religious groups or persons that shouldn't be allowed in this sensitive section? How are we to moderate our posts? How mild should our verbal weapons be, please?

I have seen people who received a mighty manifestation of the presence of God as they sat down or lay down. It all depends on the posture that will better give one enough comfort to pray. But one must not associate answers to prayers with any prayer-posture or depend on it in any way. As tinajohn said, it depends on one's faith and the posture the Spirit of prayer allows one to take.

In this world, many things are possible and various things are used as symbols. Have you ever asked a man why he holds a picture of his loved one? An engaged lady on why she wears her engagement ring? A king or queen why he/she holds a scepter?Have you not experienced a time when you slept with your arms or legs crossed and you couldnb/tr ruyn fast when you dreamt at night?
Why do hungry people salivate at the mere sight of food? Why do we have to have a role model on what we want tio become in life? Why do succesful people always have the same story to tell on how they focused their attention on a particular thing until it materialised?
God had the earth in mind brfore creating it. He then set to create it. He made in His image and likeness. So we have that pwer to concentrate on some objects and will it to obey our desires. Christians have a better and greater power to do good while those who do not know the mercy and grace of God use theirs to cause havoc here and there.
Furthermore, if some things do not symbolise an idea, action,etc, why then do we sit to have effective reading, lie down to sleep well, kneel or fold our legs to meditate or pray to whatever god we serve if those things do not signify their intentions?

I mean it. These persons were friends of mine. They said that the title 'God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob' shouldn't be changed for ant reason whatsoever. They seriously maintained that no matter how a man in the present day knows God, God should not be called his own.

Well, whatever you may think and write doesn't move me. Afterall, everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. It's quite unfortunate that we are losing grip of ultimate reality and it may be too late to realise that. Human existence is not for unnecessary debates and trifling with eternal wellbeing. It's too short for any of those.
We have a case at hand, why not continue the discussion and seek solution to the apparent self-deceit that enemies of Christ have brought in to destroy the perfect will of God?

I only wrote to thoroughly establish the fact that God has shown us what is right and what isn't. Any mistake or error stems from man's inability to walk in the ways of God. We don't establish the errors of men in the Bible as Truths to be admired and followed.

In a particular place, two christian brothers were offended any time God is refered as the God of one of their leading pastors. E.g. the God of (Frank). They argued that it is wrong to change it. This later made them leave the place.
My question now is this: is God only that of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob?

Some parents, brothers, sisters and faithful friends have died in place of their loved ones. Some parents have given up due to the problems caused by their children. Then by implication, they killed their parents. But in christianity, who really killed Jesus, we or the Jews.

Experience has taught many christian brothers to ponder diligently on sisters who consistently keep more male-friends than females. It may be true that you are not firm in your resolve to keep from her. It is quite natural. However as a christian, you must desist from closer contact with her. It may be that you are desiring to make her visit you some day. Sorry for saying that.
An individual had this kind of dream. He expressed seeming dislike for such ungodly dream, yet inwardly he relished it. He was secretly rejoicing that what he couldn't do in the physical had been done in the "spiritual." Months rolled by, due to his casual talk about it to those who cared to listen, instead of purging himself from that impending contamination, he didn't even know when he got close to the sister and they got to love each other to a questionable extent. Both of them knew that it has turned to something else and they couldn't stop the flaring concupiscence. It ended them up in sexual immorality (up to 3 times !!!). It became known to members of the church and they were disciplined and told to separate. They will not marry each other any more as long as they remain members of that church.
What I am trying to illustrate is this:take heed to yourself. That sister might have her reasons for associating with males but it is most proper to be with her kind of gender. She might have started it in a pure mind but as her popularity increases and praises abound from admirers, she might secretly develop another spirit that may languish the desires of the brothers in the church. Are there not godly mothers in the church? Ask one of them to talk to her in meekness, love and godly wisdom. She needs to change otherwise she may not make a dedicated wife. These days people do not cut off from friends even after marriage and if this will be so with her , how will the husband feel? Sometime ago, I advised a christian girl(the girl in my illustration above) and she said that when she marries she will learn, afterall God used to give people power to make a good husband and wife. But do not see the end of all that she felt doesn't matter?
These days boys and girls have failed to realise that it is better to learn what will help you in future rather than what you feel you like to do now. To prepare for the next step, stage and societal expectation.
Love in recent years, among young people, is purely sexual. It is sad to see married men going after other women just because their wives have grown fatter or old in their own eyes. Where then is the true love that some of our grandparents remained true to all their days? I appreciate girls, ladies, women, mothers and I love them in the name of the Lord. But it pains me to see the pains the undergo to slim-down all in the name to look attractive, get a ready-made husbands, retain their husbands at home,etc. They may have the flimsy reason that that is the fashion of the time. I have known the near-death experience of some and I even advised a girl to eat well lest she dies in the process of starving herself until she almost gave up. Oh, this world, this world. Where are the young people heading to?
Friend I advise you to take time to pray for God's help. Being involved with a lady may be thrilling at the begining but it turns sour at the end if you are not ready to marry at that time. You may not know the terrible situation many young christians are in after being involved with girls. You can never be the same in your christian life except God intervenes.
See, if you are not ready to get married leave her alone. Sometimes we think somebody is the most beautiful until that feeling leaves us and then we come to know that she is not worth dying for expecially when a more beautiful one comes around. There's no satisfaction in the things of the flesh.
In another way God might have kept her for you and is waiting for your right judgment in this. You may lose her if you allow the devil to tempt you to do that which is not lawful now. Girls sometimes change. When they begin to hate somebody only God can change their mind. They may agree with you to go astray but when it backfires they heap all the blames on you. They may even say that they don't even know you. They may claim that you forced yourself on them and at the end you will not only lose that precious wife-to-be but will also lose your respect in her eyes forever. Yes, even forever.
Men sometimes are so foolishly blinded to apparent dangers and no-go areas of life and women. RESPECT is the chief quality when it comes to matters involving girls, ladies, women. Females are fully humans as we are. We should not take undue advantage of their weakneses, wants needs, even beauty and natural docility, and their being very jovial and amiable. These are rare qualities in women, though.
I hope you will organise your thoughts and have no undue desire. I understand how you may feel. I am a very young man too. But we must strive for excellence in character rather than give ourselves over to ALL THESE THINGS. God Bless You!

However,we live to instruct one another in the atmosphere of love, having our eternal abode in view.
I want to let you know that there are things that God has given us grace to handle so long as we must remain His children in this world. Common sense teaches us to clean ourselves. If we are reluctant, our neighbour may impress on us its importance. We need to to make use of only the basic things of life. God wants us to trust Him for any other thing, if it is necessary He will reveal it to us with time. But one must basically understand that the earth is just a place on which our eternal reward is determined. How long then do we have in the world to live? Do you know how much God loves you and want you to be properly positioned in the things pertaining to life and godliness?

If it appears to be similar to a particular culture, alright then. But know for certain that christianity does not request permission from one's culture or tradition to lay down its principles. If these things be the basis for the final judgment, what then do you think that God will expect from mankind? Jesus, the Son of God suffered in the flesh and if any man for any vain excuse remains unwilling to allow this to affect his behaviour, then what shall be the essence of all the pains Jesus underwent? As I stated earlier, whether any culture existed before Christ, does not matter. God existed before frail mankind; He created them. We cannot deny Him His legal power and authority over us.
