Aidejay:Indeed! His death did stand for something ![]() |
On 8th June, 2019, in Minneapolis, a memorial service was held in honour of late George Floyd. George’s corpse was accompanied by a motorcade, in a gold casket, worth over 1 million dollars (387,500,000.00 Naira). Hundreds and hundreds of people including dignitaries and celebrities such as Kevin Hart; TI, Ludacris, Martin Luther King III, the Governor of Minnesota Tim Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, and one-time Presidential candidate Senator Amy Klobuchar, et al. They all came out in solidarity of the poor black man who was unjustly murdered, even breaching social distancing regulations. His murderer Derek Chauvin, a policeman with over 19 years experience, faces three separate charges: unintentional second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter, for which the maximum penalties are prison terms of 40, 25 and 10 years respectively. However, in a Minneapolis Court, Judge Jeannice M Reding set a bail of $1.25m with no preconditions, or $1m with conditions that include Mr Chauvin not contacting Mr Floyd’s family, surrendering his firearms and not working in law enforcement or security as he awaits trial. Today (9th June, 2020), his remains was laid to rest in Houston, Texas. George was given a stately burial, befitting even for an elderly statesman. He earned his last respect in grand style. Respect he probably never could afford in his lifetime. According to reports, former world boxing champion Floyd Mayweather had requested to single-handedly pay for his funeral service. Do you know that George set a world record even in his death? According to TMZ, the site reported that the GoFundMe page set up for George Floyd has received the most individual donations ever recorded on the crowdsourcing website. Donations were made by people from over 125 different countries around the world, according to a spokesperson for GoFundMe. As of now, the GoFundMe page has received more than 479,000 donations and raised more than $13m, far surpassing its $1.5m goal. A portion of the money will also go to the Estate of George Floyd for the benefit and care of his children and their educational fund. Reports also has it that Kanye West has created a college fund for George Floyd’s daughter and has single-handedly made $2m additional donations. George’s occupation as recorded on Wikipedia is a ‘truck driver and security guard’ and he is survived by 5 children amongst other family members, although there is just one identified daughter of his, and the only documented information of a woman in his life is a certain Courtney Ross, who ironically is a white woman. According to Courtney, they both shared a dream of opening a restaurant called Convict Kitchen in Minneapolis, where they would hire only ex-convicts to give them the same second chance at life that he got. Ross dated Floyd for three years, and said the last thing he told her was, “I love you.” I don’t know. I really don’t know what to feel. I don’t even know how to express what I think I feel. Is this hypocrisy? An attempt to save face or actual sympathy? George Floyd doesn't have a net worth. At least, it's not documented or his net worth is not worth documenting. All of a sudden, his lifeless body has experienced the glamour, fame and wealth he could only fantasize or dream about. I’m not undermining the humanitarian efforts made by well meaning individuals, but does one’s best dressed day have to be in a casket? Does death have to be the ultimate price for love, care and concern? When last did you sincerely tell someone “I love you?” It could be the last they hear. It could be the last you say. What is life if you live in oblivion, only to be globally recognized in death? What is life? Will this just be another fad, soon passing away in no time? What if you wake up tomorrow to the headlines of another black man being victimized by some white supremacist because of his skin colour? Has George paid the ultimate sacrifice? I hope we live long enough to find out. Written by Joseph Robert. Read more@ http://anijosh-inspire.com/george-floyd-demise-hypocrisy-or-sympathy/

Dear Fathers.. I know I’m not in the right place to spare a word you could hear. I know I’m only but a man with no experience of fatherhood. Yes! I know how taskful it is, to be a dad. But Please, Hear me out! For once, I was a Child, and several times, I’ve heard from children and young ones. And I could even boast of knowing some of them more. But i won’t, Fathers know better! A Child’s fees has to be paid, I know. He needs a book to write on too. His Cloths must be changed; cartoon styled and brightly adorned. I’m quite aware. Junior needs a gift for his birthday, most often, a toy car or a gun. He needs to be well taken care of. Of course, I know. But do you know what Junior needs more? He needs a Dad, who could make out time from his tight schedule, to play with him. A father, who wouldn’t just buy great stuffs, but will also sit near talking great stuffs with him. A lovely dad, who wouldn’t mind watching toons with him. Junior needs a friend in his dad. He needs someone to talk to, in his dad. If you fail to be that friend to junior, while he”s still young and tender. You will never become that friend, when he becomes a teenager. . Don’t let you job make you a stranger to your kid. Don’t let his mother, be a mother, all alone. Great Fathers are sometimes, mothers! Read more @ anijosh-inspire.com

George W. Bush in 2005: 'If we wait for a pandemic to appear, it will be too late to prepare' MATTHEW MOSK In the summer of 2005, President George W. Bushwas on vacation at his ranch in Crawford, Texas, when he began flipping through an advance reading copy of a new book about the 1918 flu pandemic. He couldn't put it down. When he returned to Washington, he called his top homeland security adviser into the Oval Office and gave her the galley of historian John M. Barry's "The Great Influenza," which told the chilling tale of the mysterious plague that "would kill more people than the outbreak of any other disease in human history." "You've got to read this," Fran Townsend remembers the president telling her. "He said, 'Look, this happens every 100 years. We need a national strategy.'" Thus was born the nation's most comprehensive pandemic plan -- a playbook that included diagrams for a global early warning system, funding to develop new, rapid vaccine technology, and a robust national stockpile of critical supplies, such as face masks and ventilators, Townsend said. The effort was intense over the ensuing three years, including exercises where cabinet officials gamed out their responses, but it was not sustained. Large swaths of the ambitious plan were either not fully realized or entirely shelved as other priorities and crises took hold. But elements of that effort have formed the foundation for the national response to the coronavirus pandemic underway right now. "Despite politics, despite changes, when a crisis hits, you pull what you've got off the shelf and work from there," Townsend said. When Bush first told his aides he wanted to focus on the potential of a global pandemic, many of them harbored doubts. Yahoo George W. Bush paved way for global pandemic planning George W. I'm like, 'What?'" Townsend said. "He said to me, 'It may not happen on our watch, but the nation needs the plan.'" Over the ensuing months, cabinet officials got behind the idea. Most of them had governed through the Sept. 11 terror attacks, so events considered unlikely but highly-impactful had a certain resonance. "There was a realization that it's no longer fantastical to raise scenarios about planes falling from the sky, or anthrax arriving in the mail," said Tom Bossert, who worked in the Bush White House and went on to serve as a homeland security adviser in the Trump administration. "It was not a novel. It was the world we were living." According to Bossert, who is now an ABC News contributor, Bush did not just insist on preparation for a pandemic. He was obsessed with it. "He was completely taken by the reality that that was going to happen," Bossert said. In a November 2005 speech at the National Institutes of Health, Bush laid out proposals in granular detail -- describing with stunning prescience how a pandemic in the United States would unfold. Among those in the audience was Dr. Anthony Fauci, the leader of the current crisis response, who was then and still is now the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. "A pandemic is a lot like a forest fire," Bush said at the time. "If caught early it might be extinguished with limited damage. If allowed to smolder, undetected, it can grow to an inferno that can spread quickly beyond our ability to control it." The president recognized that an outbreak was a different kind of disaster than the ones the federal government had been designed to address. MORE: Stimulus check calculator: How much might you receive? "To respond to a pandemic, we need medical personnel and adequate supplies of equipment," Bush said. "In a pandemic, everything from syringes to hospital beds, respirators masks and protective equipment would be in short supply." Bush told the gathered scientists that they would need to develop a vaccine in record time. "If a pandemic strikes, our country must have a surge capacity in place that will allow us to bring a new vaccine on line quickly and manufacture enough to immunize every American against the pandemic strain," he said. Bush set out to spend $7 billion building out his plan. His cabinet secretaries urged their staffs to take preparations seriously. The government launched a website, www.pandemicflu.gov, that is still in use today. But as time passed, it became increasingly difficult to justify the continued funding, staffing and attention, Bossert said. "You need to have annual budget commitment. You need to have institutions that can survive any one administration. And you need to have leadership experience," Bossert said. "All three of those can be effected by our wonderful and unique form of government in which you transfer power every four years." Bush declined, through a spokesman, to comment on the unfolding crisis or discuss the current response. But his remarks from 15 years ago still resonate. "If we wait for a pandemic to appear," he warned, "it will be too late to prepare. And one day many lives could be needlessly lost because we failed to act today." https://www.yahoo.com/gma/george-w-bush-2005-wait-pandemic-appear-too-080830555--abc-news-topstories.html

Waligwa, the Child actress in queen of katwe dies at 15 from brain tumour. May her soul Rest in Perfect Peace! |
Stop for a moment.. think about your life. How old are you now? How long have you lived? Are you too young to die? . . I was faced with the last question after witnessing a horrible accident on my way back from Zonkwa, the capital city of Zangon Kataf in Kaduna. It was a clash between a taxi driver and a Truck driver. Cars were damaged, windows became tiny drops of glasses on the tarred road. . . I saw blood.. the young, the old and the tender groaning in so much pain. The kind that could even make the unaffected cry too, an infectious pain. Blood and broken glasses dined together on the floor, as though the living was no more a being. They couldn't even spare the tender.. isn't he too young to be part of such an unfortunate event? That child, of about 2 or 3yrs old layed silently.. his screams and supposed tears were trapped. I could hardly see signs of breathing, nor of movement. . My God! He's just too young! Wont he atleast have a chance to dream too? Or atleast, a chance to walk with smiles to school, with his schoolbag dancing behind his back and his hands locked in that of his father? Not even that chance? Right now, if only yesterday never came, he should have been playing around his house with the other children. But there he was lying helplessly and almost lifeless. . Till now.. i can still feel that pain in my heart.. and my mind just wouldn't leave that sight alone. They were rushed to hospital.. I prayed they all survive.. especially the little child. But on my way back home today again.. I enquired and I was told.. "those children, one die".. He was the only one who died. The one who never had a chance to live past 5yrs on earth. The driver's skull was pushed inwards.. his parents were badly hurt and the other child.. a little bit bigger sat quietly on the ground. But that boy of just about 3yrs old if i'm not mistaken, never saw today. . So how old are you again? How long have you lived? Did you thank the Lord that you are alive to see today? Do you think you are too young to die? How well have you lived your life? You still have life.. I still have life... What are we doing with it? Is there enough time in our lifetime to make things right with God? How much time is left? You never know.. tommorrow never says what it holds.. so let not your today be a waste of precious time. . I pray the death of that child will atleast make you see how short life is.. Make your ways right with God! God help us all! . The Writer's vessel #DiaryofaVillageCorper |

clumsydyna:Lol.... eating is eating oo, parlour, bedroom, kitchen, dinning, does it really matter? |
She's 6 years old, I was just eating my food when she rushed to the kitchen and whispered to my ears "will you marry me?".. Maybe it was just a childish talk, like you would want to say, but then I asked her to repeat what she just said, she looked at me and smiled, saying that I will make others at home to hear what she just said, so she knew what she was saying was out of place. Few minutes after, I saw her moving her mouth in a way that showed she had seen some grown ups kissing eachother. I only came to spend a short time with my parent when i met this child at home, her mum was with my Sister. This is not the first time I've seen things like this, but the buttomline is, if you think you are man enough to have a family of your own, please try as much as you can to rent a house with atleast two rooms, or a parlour and a room. Quit the business of living in a single room, with your wife and kids; you will be exposing your kids to things far beyond their age. I've seen worst cases, especially as a teacher in a school. Those things you do in front of your kids, yes, you know what I mean, those things that makes your wife whisper to your ears "the kids are watching oo". Then you reply "They are just kids". Hey man, they're not just kids, there are fast learners, so they try to practice whatever they see you do, even when they don't really know what it means. So please, be careful around your kids, be mindful of what you do around them and also ensure to fast forward those parts of a movie they shouldn't watch. Lastly, please save money and rent a good apartment na! Meanwhile, do I have to tell her mum about this? http://akpansblog..com |
Mays24:Yes ooo... |
Bede2u:Yea.... Indeed. But before they get involved with all those, they must have written several exams, especially in Primary Schools.. it all begins there you know. |
She caught my attention when I noticed she was lost in her own thoughts. While I spend so much time trying to make them understand the topic of the day, all she ever did was look away when others were all ears. "What could possibly be wrong with this child" i wondered. She can't even write, whenever she tries it turns out to be a disaster, something only she can understand. I directed my questions to her class teacher and here was the respond, "thats how she behaves... she can't read and write, she fails every exam over and over again and as a result can't progress to the next class. Her junior sister is in a senior class while she lingers in a more junior class....". When i heard that I was more concern, how could she survive in a world like this as a female child who can't read or write? She could turn out beautiful, grow to become someone whoose beauty catches the eye. But without brains to think for herself and to get things done? the disaster and the embarassment she will incur upon herself could be destructive phsycologically. I wanted to know more, understand her real problem, so I called her to my office. She came in with mixed smiles on her face, an expression of one who feels life's got nothing for her; No friends to play with. Who would want to have anything to do with her? The brokenness she felt, the island she was becoming and the pain of dejection that runs in her veins. Words cannot best describe. When she stood before me, I looked at her with genuine love of a teacher. Then I held my clock in a position that was upside down, "is this how it's suppose to be?" I asked. And with much confidence, she said "Yes". I smiled. I moved further and unbuttoned one of her circle shaped button on her shirt, " please button your shirt" I said calmly. The tears I held back when I saw her struggle to perform such a simple task as that, I can't imagine. She couldn't do it, tried to several times but to no avail. Her efforts was fruitless. "Esther, who buttons your shirt for you at home?" I asked. "My daddy" she said. "Oh, I see" I said. That was when I was quite certain that she was dyslexic. So I thought it wise to report to the head of the school. This child needs special attention. This Thing Called Dyslexia.. . NOTE Have you ever heard of dyslexia? When a child cannot read or write, don't be mad at her, she suffers more than you think. The words she sees are dancing in her eyes and so she can't recognize them. So teach her with love. Esther in the story, saw my clock upside down as the normal because in her eyes things are inverted and so she most times writes in inverted form. E.g saw for was. Don't see her as stubborn because she doesn't pay attention to what you say. She also suffers from what is called "attention deficit disorder". The signs are more than these. Have you ever seen one? Its not normal, the name is called dyslexia; a learning disability characterized by difficulty in reading and writing. Don't think of it as a curse, the world's greatest invention was done by such people who couldn't read and write in their childhood. Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, Pablo Picasso, Walt Disney and many others passed through situations in their childhood. So you can say, "they are gifted children whoose abilities are hidden beneath their challenges". Get them through their challenges (teach them with love and concern) and you will see what great things they can do. Source:http://akpansblog..com |
For a while now I’ve garnered a lot of experience in the educational sector, chiefly in the class room sector; some as a personal tutor and some as a subject teacher. Every day of my life has been blessed with such a profound opportunity, to impact knowledge. These kids are gifted in quite a lot of ways, but I which I won’t be the only one seeing these things, how intelligent they all are, as it hurts me when a child performance is judged based on the position he or she took in class. Although, I was once in that line; I felt hard broken that my efforts were wasted, so I fell prey to the error of pointing fingers towards the ones who took first in class, “if only you study harder, you could do better than them” I would say. However, as times went on, I came to realize I was in a deep slip-up, so I turned away. Always mentioning the names of those who took first in their class wasn’t really helping. I instead, focussed my gaze on their result booklet, comparing their current performance to the previous will be more helpful. beyond doubt, it was, as I realized they actually did better than the previous term. Then again, the summer lesson came up, and I was given a class to handle, a lot of kids from other schools turned up, with just a few kids from the host school, where I was teaching. I came up with rules such as; read at least two subjects in a day and also learn one word from the dictionary every day. During the presentation of what they learnt, I could hardly contain my joy, when a child from my school consistently did so well, hardly any flaws in his presentation, but guess what, his position in class wasn’t even among the first nine, when the last term results were issued. Yet, here he was teaching pupils from other schools in a summer lesson. So when I say every child is intelligent, I’m not just saying it because I want to get your attention, but rather because experience has taught me that truly, every child is intelligent, after all intelligence is defined as an inherent ability in a person to understand a subject matter, understand what your child is good at and build on it. I noticed the same thing in a child in a junior class; she was the youngest in the class. After several explanations with examples, I decided to try them out with a class work. Before then I was already aware that she had some difficulty understanding Mathematics, but on that particularly day, I decided to explain personally to her, just to see if she could comprehend. Surprisingly she did better than I could ever imagine, because of that I had to ask the whole class to stop whatever they were doing, just to applaud her. All she needed was an extra attention, and when she had it, she showed what she was made of. I don’t believe there’s any dull child, I can’t think of God’s Creation as dull. He wonderfully created every one with their various gifts and abilities. Quit the business of comparing your children with other kids, I know what you think, “it will challenge them to do better”. Sorry to say, but it won’t, I know of a child who took third position in his class, he was excited about it, but his father wasn’t, “what about those who took first and second” he would say. “They are even girls” he added. The next term, the boy took 6th position. So you see, it doesn’t really help, instead it creates an enmity within them towards those kids they are compared to, so they begin to see them as a competition and as a threat, which is only but a distraction to their studies. They should strive to be better than how they are, study for the knowing, not to be better than other children, or just to take 1st position. On this note, I humbly implore as a teacher, parents, please love your kids, care for them, help them to study and emphasize the importance of obtaining knowledge, understanding concepts, not just reading so they can take the 1st position in class. Lastly, compare their results in all subjects to last term performance, and not by their best friend performance. Source: https://akpansblog..com |
