Here’s her post in full below; **************** ”CHOICE OF WIFE/HUSBAND THE SAD EXPERIENCE OF GREAT APOSTLE AYO BABALOLA. “His known mistake was his choice of wife. History has it that the woman he truly loved was a single mother, but the elders of CAC considered it an embarrassment for their leader to marry a single mother. Pope Francis has been head of the 1 billion-member Roman Catholic Church for about five years. During that time, he’s periodically garnered headlines for his statements on a host of issues. Here are five times when Francis has made statements that Catholic writers or Vatican officials subsequently had to clarify. There is no Hell: Eugenio Scalfari, the atheist philosopher and journalist, claimed in statements published by La Repubblica before Easter Sunday that Francis had told him in a conversation that “Hell does not exist” and that “those who do not repent and cannot therefore be forgiven disappear.” Despite the news being circulated worldwide, the Vatican has since denied that the pontiff ever made those comments. “What is reported by the author in today’s article is the result of his reconstruction, in which the literal words pronounced by the pope are not quoted,” the Holy See said last week, as quoted by the CNA. “No quotation of the aforementioned article must therefore be considered as a faithful transcription of the words of the Holy Father.” Read more: http://naijachurchnews.com/5-top-controversial-comments-by-pope-francis/

John Cardinal Onaiyekan, the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, on Sunday, has revealed that Nigeria needs philosophers as political leaders to enable it put an end to the recurrent looting of the nation’s treasury. Onaiyekan said this while delivering his homily at a mass celebrated to jointly mark the Divine Mercy solemnity and the 2018 Mothers’ Day in Abuja. According to him, the dearth of political leaders who possessed philosophical mindsets as well as the willingness to live modestly was responsible for the menace of corruption within government circles and its attendant negative effects on the society. When I was younger I always found prayers to be boring because it just seemed like an endless stream of meaningless words. But later when I truly understood what prayer meant, my whole perspective about prayer changed, and I understood its meaning and reason. It’s simply the opening of one’s heart to the Almighty; it’s going to Him and telling Him everything in your heart. The power of prayer in a family is the very foundation that keeps a family unit together. Most of you must have heard the phrase “A family that prays together stays together”. This concept is so true, as a family that has their focus on praying to the Almighty has a foundation that may be shaken at times, but it will withstand all that comes against them. Majority of families rarely participate in activities together nowadays, and rather prefer to direct their attention to the television, computers or cell phones. They lack unity from God through prayers. Read more: http://naijachurchnews.com/power-of-praying-together-as-a-family/

Jonathan Akwetey Abbey, the Rev. Minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Mount Zion Congregation in Odorkor, has tagged married men who refuse to wash the panties and clothes of their sick wives as wicked beings. According to him, love is about helping one another and women have been washing the boxers and clothes of their husbands all the time so he finds no fault with married men doing same for their wives once a while or when they are ill. Rev. Abbey also told Adom News Reporter, Kofi Nkansah, that women become more appreciative when their husbands assist them in their house chores occasionally, especially by helping them to wash. Agoro in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital while describing the abduction and release as “an arranged abduction and celebration of fraud” however, advised President Muhammadu Buhari “not to allow himself to be rubbished with the issue of the just released Dapchi girls by the Boko Haram insurgents.” He said, “Obviously, the best language of a fool is self delusion, this summarises the narratives of the arranged abduction and thereafter playing to the global gallery with an arranged freedom of the innocent 104 Dapchi schoolgirls.” Read more: http://naijachurchnews.com/agoro-release-of-schoolgirls-a-celebration-of-fraud/

By Olusegun Adeosun In line with the fast-changing world, an Anglican bishop has called for the cancellation of a long-time tradition Igbo tradition of making only the male offspring qualify to inherit father’s estates. Rev. (Dr.) Owen Nwokolo, of the Anglican Communion, Onitsha, Anambra State, has expressed support of the Supreme Court judgment on the inclusion of female offspring as eligible to inherit their father’s property, as against the Igbo tradition of exclusion of female heirs. Nwokolo , who is also the Anglican Bishop of Niger, described the judgment law as good and proper, recounting with regret what had been the situation in Nigeria before the enactment of the law where, by tradition and custom, female offspring had no right to inherit their father’s property. The Bishop made his views known at the weekend in a homily titled: “The Rewards for Spiritual and Moral Stability,” during a one-day annual summit of the Anglican Students Association (ASA) of the diocese held at the All Saints Cathedral church, Onitsha. It is no doubt that the recurrent attacks of herdsmen, Boko Haram, among others have become a critical source of worry to many Nigerians including institutions. One of such institutions is the International Society for Civil Rights and Rule of Law, a human rights organization. A recent survey carried out by the group, has proved that over 3,850 persons have lost their lives since 2015 when President Muhammadu Buhari assumed office. The group said what was most painful was that a larger number of those killed were non-Muslims, and that the killers are strengthened by the taciturnity of the present government. The research material which was signed by Emeka Umeagbalasi, chairman, Board of Trustees, indicates that the killings were mainly committed by Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen terrorists, who are empowered by the false labeling of innocent citizens, misrepresentation and distortion of facts by a section of the society. A Christian family of three living in Baghdad was found dead in their home. An investigation showed that they had been stabbed to death the previous day by an armed group and their valuables were stolen. The victims are Dr. Hisham Shafiq al-Maskuni, his wife Shaza Malik, and his elderly mother Khairiya Dawood. This is not an isolated tragedy. Attacks on Iraq’s Christian community have forced thousands from their homes. In particular, attacks on Christians in Baghdad have led so many to flee over the years that last summer eight churches closed their doors. A doctor who worked in the same hospital as Dr. Hisham Shafiq said he could not believe a colleague had passed away, “I cannot believe that he passed away in such a terrible way… I once heard Hishma say how in his neighbourhood are giving him hard times because they are trying to take his house and buy it. Probably the killer was trying to threaten him and when Hisham recognized who he is, the killer decided to kill him and the rest of the family”, he said. For Paul Dawodu, a pastor, the Biblical statement, “what the Lord has joined together let no man put asunder”, does not apply in his situation. He seems already fed up with the marriage. After years of endurance and perseverance, Dawodu, finally, on Wednesday, asked an Ikorodu Customary Court in Lagos State to dissolve his 18-year-old marriage with his wife, Adijat, over her abusive behaviour. The petitioner on Wednesday sought the dissolution of the marriage on grounds that his wife was quarrelsome and usually cursed people. Turkish prosecutor has sought a life sentence for a U.S. pastor over alleged links to a failed coup attempt in 2016, a move that threatens to undermine efforts to mend bilateral ties. Washington believes the pastor, Andrew Brunson, who has been in jail since December 2016, is one of several Americans unjustly detained in Turkey. During a visit to Ankara last month, former U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called for him to be freed. The Christian pastor from North Carolina has been living in Turkey for 23 years and running a church, according to an online petition seeking his release. The prosecutor charged him with being an “executive” of the group that Ankara holds responsible for the failed coup, a news agency said. Turkey blames the network of Fethullah Gulen, a U.S.-based Muslim cleric who denies all involvement. Read more: http://naijachurchnews.com/why-turkey-wants-an-american-pastor-jailed-for-life/

The word “forgive” means to wipe the slate clean, to pardon, to cancel a debt. When we wrong someone, we seek his or her forgiveness in order for the relationship to be restored. It is important to remember that forgiveness is not granted because a person deserves to be forgiven. Instead, it is an act of love, mercy, and grace. Here is a small selection of bible verses about forgiveness, its benefits, and its power; 1. Isaiah 55:7 “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.” 2. Matthew 6:14-15 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Read more: http://naijachurchnews.com/10-bible-verses-that-show-the-benefits-of-forgiveness/

Prominent Christian leaders in America co-signed a letter on Tuesday, to Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu and Mayor of Jerusalem, Nir Barkat, asking them to reconsider a proposed plan to tax church-owned properties in the city. Currently, properties owned by churches are not taxed. In the March 13 letter, the leaders warned that the policies would “severely inhibit” the work of the churches in and around Jerusalem, and would disrupt the Status Quo policy. “If enacted, these measures would have the effect of creating a situation that jeopardizes the very survival of the Christian community in the Holy Land,” they said. The expression “nothing is impossible for God” is used directly or indirectly at least twice in Scripture. The angel comforts Mary when speaking to her about Jesus in her womb, reminding her that through God’s power she can conceive a child as a virgin (Luke 1:37). The context is to trust in God who can enable Mary, a virgin, to conceive a baby. With God, all things are possible. And yet there are some things God cannot do. Lets take a look; God cannot lie. God cannot lie, meaning everything that he says is 100% true. There is no falsehood is his character. God’s truthfulness is shown and repeated throughout all of Scripture. If he could lie, then he would cease to be a good God, since lying is not worthy of approval. But God is unable to lie “That by two immutable things in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.” (Hebrews 6:18). Knowing God’s will is sometimes difficult because it requires patience. It’s natural to want to know all of God’s will at once, but that’s not how He usually works. He reveals to us a step at a time (each move a step of faith) and allows us to continue to trust Him. The important thing is that, as we wait for further direction, we are busy doing the good that we know to do (James 4:17). Below are some keys to guide you on how to know the will of God for your life. Seek godly input. One key component to finding God’s will is to seek the input of godly advisors in your life. If you don’t currently have 3-4 godly mentors, then I would highly recommend that you seek them out right away. Think of it this way: you should understand that you are basically a composite of the five people you spend the most time with. So, then, it is vital that you choose those five people well. If you choose to surround yourself with godly advisors, they will be instrumental in helping you discern God’s plan for your life. But if you surround yourself with people who are far from God, your hope of finding His best for your life will be greatly diminished. “Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety” (Prov. 11:4). He was ordained a pastor at age of 21 and has since been active in the service of God. Now, 66, Dr. Pro. Adonijah Akinsola, primate of New Temple Mission Church of Christ (Aladura) Worldwide, Ilugun Asalu,Abeokuta, in this interview , shares his view on some of the happening in the christendom, particularly in Nigeria.Excerpts: Is it true that Christian faith has diminished compared to the 80s and 90s? Yes. People are no longer committed to the faith again, even among some so-called pastors. Evils are more rampart among men of God today, compare to those years. Today, greed, gluttony and the thirst to make money by any means have become other of the day among ministers of God. They are always in a rush, and one should not be too surprise because these are part of sign of the end time. The Bible says in the last days, people will be lovers of money, pleasure, lovers of themselves than God. All these things make the true men of God ashamed, because people will see us as the same. Most of these so-called pastors are after their bellies and are wolves in sheep clothing. Some of them were not called by God. They deceive the gullible ones who have allowed desperation to solving their problem to cloud their sense of judgment. Some of them don’t even read the Bible, hence they will become prey in the hands of those satanic agents. They are Satanic agents because they are promoting the kingdom of Satan. In ancient Hebrew society, divorce was particularly hard on the wife. She could be left all alone without means of support, stigmatized by shame that she had been unfaithful to her husband (whether true or not). The Jewish Law made provisions for a man to divorce his wife and not the other way around. Some people claim that Christians are statistically just as likely to divorce as non-Christians are. In fact, some studies have indicated that evangelical Christians are even more likely to divorce than their non-Christian counterparts. Others have argued the opposite. Prophet Malachi, who taught the people of Israel about four hundred years before Jesus, offered this word to his people: ‘I hate divorce,’ says the Lord, God of Israel (Mal. 2:16). To be clear, the prophet did not say that God hates people who have been divorced. He meant that God hates all what leads to divorce, all that flows from divorce, what divorce does to those he loves and to His purpose for the covenant of marriage. The Edo State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has vowed to go after pastors that get involved in human trafficking/pray for human traffickers, and sell anointing oil and handkerchief, warning that perpetrators will face the wrath of God if they fail to repent. The persecution of Christians has been historically traced from the first century of the Christian era, based on the biblical account of Jesus to the present day. Much of the persecution in Nigeria is as a result of radical Islamic teachings. Women, under-aged girls are at risk of being abducted and forced to marry Muslim men. Islam is the dominant religion in the north of the country, while Christianity is dominant in the south. Ongoing rivalries between ethnic groups contribute to the persecution of Christians who are caught in the crossfire. Meanwhile, radical groups, such as Boko Haram and Muslim Fulani herdsmen, persecute believers in the northern and Middle Belt regions. Criminal groups engaged in human and drug trafficking also contribute to the persecution, and corruption at all levels of government only adds to the danger for believers. By Olusegun Adeosun It is sad today that many ministers of God have allowed themselves to be used to frustrate the original purpose of God for humanity. There is hardly a week where there are no reports of pastors or so-called clergymen or women being caught in evil acts like fraud or money ritual. Compared to the 70s and 80s the rate at which the so-called men of God perpetrate crime is alarming. Or could it be they are all fake pastors? That is not genuinely called by God, but just trying to find a means to survive? But there are instances where genuinely called ministers of God who started very well, but later lost it along the way. A good example is the Biblical Samson, King Solomon, among others. In this age there have been proven reports of a popular pastor in Alimosho Local Government of Lagos, who started well, but died untimely. His funeral was openly carried out by the Ogboni Fraternity group ( a cult). There are many instances whose names will not be mentioned. The trend is growing across the world and it is a huge dent on the Christian body. Read more: http://naijachurchnews.com/%e2%80%8e-pastors-fail-ministries-crash-part-1/
