UPDATE | Ronald Araujo had successful surgery this morning for his right adductor longus tendon avulsion. The surgery was performed by Dr. Lasse Lempainen under the supervision of Club medical staff in Turku, Finland. He is out and his recovery will determine his availability.

Bellerin is out for 2-3 weeks. It will be difficult for him to be available for El Clasico, but it is not ruled out.

Obi Mikel brought his renowned football career to a close on Tuesday and some of the biggest names in football have paid tribute to the former Nigeria captain.

The 35-year-old retires as one of Africa’s most decorated footballers, having won the Uefa Champions League, Europa League, Premier League and the Africa Cup of Nations, a feat only bettered by Samuel Eto’o - who is now the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation.

An Ikeja High Court on Tuesday sentenced the deposed Baale of Shangisha in the Magodo area of Lagos, Mutiu Ogundare to a 15-year jail term.


The traditional ruler was charged with faking his kidnapping and breaching of peace.

Recall that the former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode on July 13, 2022, suspended the Baale over a kidnap incident.

After five years, Justice Hakeem Oshodi, on Tuesday, sentenced Ogundare, having convicted him of a two-count bordering on breach of peace in the state and fake kidnapping.

Also jailed for the same prison term was his brother, Opeyemi Mohammed.

The court, however, set his wife Abolanle, free, having earlier absolved her of the charges earlier leveled against her.

Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Uche Secondus, has accepted his appointment as an adviser to presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar.


In his reaction, the former national chairman of the opposition expressed readiness to work with the former vice president.

“I have just received the news of my appointment as Technical Adviser to H.E @atiku Abubakar in his 2023 Presidential Campaign.

“The mission to Rescue Nigeria that was initiated in 2018 will come to a fulfillment by the Special Grace of Almighty God”, he tweeted.

On Monday, Atiku announced the names of some party stalwarts that will serve as his advisers for the 2023 election campaign.

In reply, Secondus condemned the “disdainful threat” by the Rivers helmsman to crush party members supporting Atiku.

“Wike, you cannot crush anybody. I cannot fight or join issues with you, only God can crush”, said the former PDP leader.
