Actually Benin was an empire (the only one in the south and middle belt. Oyo was a mere average kingdom, Ife was a mere chiefdom. Don't believe all the revisionisms you read online. Mccullum: |
Oni of Ife doing his usual antics, all these narratives come straight from the oni's e-warfare/troll army. The Oni is basically a criminal stealing other people's cultures and titles and using all sorts of disgraceful means to degrade real monarchs. What else should you expect from a priest whom is usurping the "emperor" title ? |
The Ezama of Benin is perhaps the most important/famous traditional embassador in Africa. He has visited many kings in Africa and beyond and many kings in Africa have visited him. So a monarch visiting the Ezama of Benin is not out of the ordinary, the Alafin was right to visit him. Once again, there was no disrespect, Ife/oni trolls are trying to create a narrative to help project the oni as superior to the Alafin. YoungBlackRico: |
Chief Igbinedion is a noble man, the Alafin is also a noble man. None of them is a commoner. They also are friends and this event was the celebration of Igbinedion's birthday. No impolite things took place. Instead, the Alafin was treated with a lot of respect by the Ezama. For example, a special chair marking authority was provided for the Alafin. So Ife trolls can take a break, we didn't take the bait. The Alafin is still superior to the oni. |
What is it with you guys and the doubling of letters. You've changed oni to ooni, and you've changed Alafin to alaafin, you've also changed mythical imaginary figure oduduwa into oodua ? What the heck is going on ? 😂 |
I'm still trying to locate oduduwa's birth certificate 😂 Something tells me it's easier to locate Peter Pan's birth cert than that of oduduwa. 😂 All these fairytales should be left for kids alone. aribisala0: |
It's Benin, not "Bini". And the yorubas seem obsessed with us. No day passes without yorubas claiming us one way or another. They make rankings of their monarchs and somehow our Benin emperor always ends up in those rankings 😅 The crown of the Benin emperor is being copied by the Oni of Ife 😅 The title of the Benin emperor has been copied by all yoruba monarchs, sometimes they even forget their original titles 😅 Some Benin artefacts like Benin swords have been copied by the Oni of Ife 😅 Each time they copy, they claim they are the original 😅 But a little research shows the yorubas are telling lies. CSTRR: |
Alafin is superior to oni of Ife. sisisioge: |
Facts are not delusional. Take a look at what Africa looked like in 1747 👇🏿, courtesy to Emanuel Bowen Oracle411:Notice the size of Benin in 1747, notice there's no oyo yet, nor any ife yet. I prove my claims, I don't base my speech on feelings and hot air and tribal chest beating. 😅

You can't fake greatness. Alafin is way above Oni. But the fact alone that they both added the title of the Benin monarch to their respective names tells you who's boss. Never will you hear the Oba refer to himself as Oni or alafin. The Oba doesn't copy, his empire (Benin) remains original while the wannabes copy. So once again, alafin beats Oni of Ife hands down, Ife was a small chiefdom until 1912, the British built Ife from that period and elevated the Oni. The Alafin is an actual king who had an actual army unlike the Oni of Ife who just rides the waves of a silly fairytale about some imaginary oduduwa and oranmiyan. All those stories about Ife are fake. |
Benin had no rival in the south, oyo was never great, it was only greater than Ife and Ibadan, but it was never on the same scale as Benin empire, even though yoruba revisionists swear it was. Please ask yourself which kingdom in Nigeria has the biggest treasures: Benin. Which kingdom in Nigeria got a part of the ocean named after it: Benin. Which kingdom had it's name copied by an African republic in the post colonial era: Benin. Which kingdom in the south fought against Britain: Benin. ... You guys are bad at researching history and you mostly discuss children's fairytales like oduduwa and oranmiyan. But what you don't know is that people who could write had been visiting our region since the 1400's and their testimony is still available today. Benin was the only empire in the south, Lagos, warri, Auchi were part of it. Jebu were vassals to Benin... Greatness is not about feelings, it's about facts Bar1941: |
The Oba of Benin is above both Oni of Ife and alafin of oyo, that is one reason why all yoruba monarch copied the Oba of Benin's title (Oba). Show me just one monarch who copied the oni title or the alafin title, there is none. The Bight of Benin was named after Benin kingdom, and Benin republic was named after Benin Kingdom. Benin kingdom has more than 34 billion dollars worth of artefacts spread across Europe and America and Australia... A look at precolonial maps show that Benin kingdom was larger than Egypt... Alafin and oni can't compare with the one and only true emperor of the south and parts of the middle belt: Oba of Benin. Ife is based on myths, Ife was never great, all Ife relies on are fairytales like oduduwa and oranmiyan which are made up stories only worthy of the attention of kids. Nobody migrated from Ife, Ife was just a small village until 1912. |
The people of Ife used to have the authority to compel the oni of ife to commit suicide. The Oni has never been a king or an emperor, he was just a priest. |
Oral tradition are a bunch of unproven stories which some historians document when they don't have a clue of the true history of a people. Oral tradition is not reliable, it's just a bunch of fairytales. immaculatesense: |
You seem to have comprehension problems, so listen carefully: there was no oranmiyan, the only real oromiyan is a region in Ethiopia, the other one is a fairytale character. immaculatesense: |
You: "Who founded Ife?" Me: Asking this question is the same as asking "who was the first man to swim ?". It only shows your poor intelect that you think this is a valid question for a region which had no written language. You:"Who founded Oyo?" Me: Same as above You: Who was the first Ooni of Ife? Me: Same as above Who was the first Alaafin of Oyo? Me: Same as above immaculatesense: |
1. Ife never gave birth to oyo. 2. Oyo was never a superpower 3. Oyo is older than Ife. 4. Everything you guys say about Ife are mere myths, no proof to back the Ife myths. 5. Actually it is rather easy to prove Ife myths to be false: Ife was a small settlement until 1912. immaculatesense: |
^^^^try and quote correctly. Nobody cares about the name you give that alafin's crown. Now, what people care about is the age of that crown. Come with proof too, not just hot air. One thing I know is that the oni's oldest crown is younger than Nigeria. The alafin might have a crown older than Nigeria. The oldest crown of a Nigerian monarch is in the British museum and it is that of the Oba of Benin. |
You are not really asking questions, you are merely casting doubts based on your ignorance. The only logical question to ask is: "is the map genuin ?" You will get your answer by googling "Emmanuel Bowen map of Africa". Yes the map is genuin, deal with it ! I know it hurts your ethnic ego, but deal with it and stop making noise. RealityKings1: |
You think the one's crown is ancient ? 😂 You must be joking. The oldest one is from the early colonial era, all the rest are from the colonial era or recent creations, the latest one copies the crown of the Oba of Benin. Whatever you can accuse the alafin of doing, the Oni is also doing it. Solosolojohquay: |
Map making existed before satellites. And it doesn't require satellites. You are only trying to rubbish this accurate map because it debunks your ethnic propaganda. The map is more than precise enough. You guys like to question the testimony of eyewitnesses while peddling testimonies of people who didn't witness the era of interest. That is called revisionism. RealityKings1: |
You guys clearly lack education. The way you go about confusing fairytales with actual history and you do all this not as a joke but with focus and seriousness. Oduduwa is a fairytale figure ! Look for eyewitness written docs. |
How Samuel Johnson managed to fool you guys up to this day must be studied by psychiatrists. Samuel wrote a work of fiction ! A story with no witness! You guys really lack common sense. Yoruba love revisionism more than Brazil loves football. Once again, there was no oduduwa! All these are stories just like that of santa 🎅🏿 It's embarrassing that adults in 2025 are still being fooled by this children stories. This is what happens when history is not studied rigourously. |
Oranmiyan never existed, neither did oduduwa. These ethnic fairytales need to be treated as such, they were created by politicians in the colonial era. Oni of ife is not an emperor, he leads only Ife, which was a small settlement until 1912 when the British started urbanizing it. Nobody migrated from Ife. It is the British and southwest politicians who elevated the Oni of ife above his original position of minor king (or priest). Oyo actually has a king of a real kingdom, not a king/priest of a small settlement like Ife had. |
After yoruba and Igbo have made their semi-literate claims about Benin, it soon will be the turn of the houssa. The more the claim is ridiculous, the better. Ife which didn't exist in the 18th century is claiming to have birthed Benin empire which was already witnessed by Europeans in the 15th century. Now Igbo which the British made up into a tribe for the furtherance of indirect ruling are now claiming to be the original Edos... This is what happens in a country in which research in the field of history is not done and in which history is not taught in school. A bunch of morons just concoct ethnocentric stories or rehearse older ethnocentric stories. |
