Many of those Asians come from very wealthy families, they are also well connected right from childhood. They are basically the Asian versions of Elon musk.
African Americans didn't start with that same history in life, most African Americans were born into poverty and insecurity and faced racism all their lives and had no access to education.
raumdeuter: Maybe because these Asians embrace conservative values, they dont wallow in victimhood, they take responsibility for their failures and success If you check CEOs of top Fortune 500 companies, you will see them well represented
What I'm saying is that I don't think many black enslaved people earned their freedoms in 300 years of slavery in the USA. The people who did are a statistical anomaly which every statistician would completely ignore for his analysis.
I don't think so. Don't let movies like Jango fool you.
America was built on slavery alongside Brazil. It's in places like Russia, France and England that you had some people being freed from slavery from time to time and even getting big positions in government: Pushkin's dad or grand dad.
raumdeuter: Just like in the Americas, Some black saves earned their freedom and even became slave owners themselves. Point is slaves everywhere were mostly treated horribly and did not have equal footing with the captors and their families in the society
Black slaves in Africa were treated similarly to how white slaves in Europe were treated.
There was of course a path to citizenship, possibilities to shine on the battlefield and earn freedom and fame.
Not all slaves in black Africa were black by the way...
raumdeuter: How were the slaves captured and used locally treated by their captors. I mean the slaves who were not shipped abroad. How did they get treated by Africans in Africa
Unless your DNA or geographical location allows you to do time travel, I don't see why you think those are relevant informations.
I research what I say throughout eyewitness written documents, that is how I get the knowledge, not through my DNA or stories being told 300 years after an event.
Also you don't seem to be able to put yourself in perspective. The way those war prisoners were seen in those days is not the way we see things today. In those days, there was no "white or black", we had African countries fighting each other, prisoners of war faced execution or were sold for gun powder or other stuff.
IbeOkehie: You do know I'm Nigerian, right? An Igbo man? As in I can tell some of the history of slavery even in my hometown and other Igbo towns and villages? Helllooooooo Wetin be all this?
Na wa o. But is war a good excuse to sell a fellow Black African to strange White People from across the seas?
So if alien beings appear from outer space today, it's OK for countries at war to sell their enemies to those beings? Take it easy abeg.
Very few African states were involved in selling slaves. All western European countries were involved in buying, capturing and enslaving people.
So how does that translate to Africans being more involved ?
The slaves who were being sold were war prisoners, not even local enslaved people (who had access to opportunities to become free men). Rather prisoners of war who were likely to be executed were sold off as a way to exile them from the land.
The victors who were selling these war prisoners has no idea about the inhuman treatment the buyers reserved for them. If anything, it was assumed those guys would be citizens of white countries and never come back.
Black Africans collectively were the major enablers of the Slave Trade. No amount of rationalization can erase that.
Yes, Haiti is the next Singapore and Liberia will soon match South Korean prosperity. And of course Nigeria is already the Giant of Africa except for that other place at the bottom of the African map, what's that place again?
It's not about Kamala or Hillary. The fact is that a lot of the electorate was fanatically supporting trump to the point they started calling him "king" as soon as they won the election.
People were supporting trump whose only promise was to "make america White again". Hate has returned to the west like it did in ww2. These guys have a need to hate and persecute fellow humans, it was the Jews in the 1930's, today's it's every non white or non Christian person.
AmazonTopaz: Not just racism but sexism. Two well qualified women lost to a maniac who is so dumb. Humans cannot be the smartest creation of God because how can I explain it? How did such a clown become President twice? Is Bigotry that important that it makes people lose their brains and throw away rationality? This could have been avoided.
The USA has let racism destroy it. How someone like trump managed to be president is beyond my comprehension. How he manages to remain president even though his stupidity is the greatest threat to the USA's security is also beyond me.
IjeBos: This is the what the President of the US posted. How far we have fallen.
bemeruca: They don't have to join Ukraine. Ukraine just need support. The US is providing intelligence for Ukraine to strike Russia's energy sector which is why Putin is calling for another talk.
At this stage they should be talking total pullout. Trump is a soccer for peace and he is lowballing Ukraine as a result.
I really couldn't tell, but I heard USA government quote Nigerian medical doctors work as a model to follow (during the ebola crisis). Also there's one Nigerian medical doctor whom I believe was trained in Nigeria, then he went to the USA and discovered an illness affecting American rugby/football players.
I agree that I am only speculative here. But I think the field of medicine is at global standards in some Nigerian universities.
tplayer: Really? The medical universities are different. Please provide examples of those universities and let's know why you think they do this differently.
Bro, I think most Nigerian lecturers don't publish much. Even the PhD in Nigeria is not really research based. Nigerian universities are mostly bad at research.
But I believe some Nigerian medical universities do good research.
tplayer: Hello, I was not saying it's the norm. Take it easy. I graduated quite long ago. Otherwise, you seems to know how our oldest universities used to function back then. Back them, it was the best, sound lecturers.
These days, some lectures are just plain terrible. I have seen them. Sometimes, I shudder to think that these are the lecturers that will teach my kids. Seriously, I am scared. That standard has dropped EXPONENTIALLY.
Imagine an academic doctor can't write an abstract. Now people finish PhD, no published papers, like did you just come up with something controversial like Einstein that no paper reviewer would allow for publication.
PhD holders can't design simple experiments using CRD, RCBD, factorial etc.
The kind of watery papers that people use to collect professorship will make you cry. Low quality publications in non-scopus Journals.
I know of a professor who can't write a paper to publish on her own. As in, I know. 💯
Dude, I'm from the South South, we will definitely not vote for Tinubu in 2027. It's only in your head that we're "locked".
I love how you want APC to be the only party in Nigeria and tinubu to be the only candidate for elections. This confirms that you guys want to install your dictatorship. Don't complain when the military take a cue from your madness and overthrows tinubu 😂
I know I won't
helinues: Both Apc chairman and INEC chairman are from NC
North Central is locked for president Tinubu's reelection.
Same way SW and SS are locked. The opposition should just give up
Northerners do not and have never seen yorubas as northerners. The northerners can see what tinubu is doing and they will protest this vehemently.
Southerners will too. In the end, tinubu will have only yorubas to support him.
madridguy: But if northern leaders fall for the ethnic traps laid in these appointments by rejecting their own sons because of linguistic or cultural labels, they will not only vindicate Tinubu’s divisive calculations but also weaken the North’s moral claim to unity. The region’s future strength will rest on its ability to see through the politics of symbolic baiting and recognize substance where others see difference.
I brought documents written and drawn by eyewitnesses, you brought stories invented by your fellow yoruba.
This is the problem when it comes to discussing history with you guys, we bring evidence you say "rubbish" and procede to tell unsubstantiated stories in replacement of hard evidence.
It is weird that you are the one claiming I am doing "story story" while you are literally the one bringing unsubstantiated stories to counter the hard evidence which I brought. Now that is laughable.
By the way, the indigenes of Lagos have already spoken through their monarchs and have recognized their origins as Benin empire. You just never listen when the speech doesn't go your way.
So there is hard evidence and the words of the indigenes which all point to Benin.
But no, no, no, you must counter everything with your science fiction of a mythical yoruba past.
cyberbro: LOL... when Bini people came, they didn't meet Yoruba people in Lagos right? Even the Lagos Island they went to was the totality of Lagos right?
Aworis, Egun, Ijebu Epes have been staying in Lagos, the Bini travelers were just migrants like all of you coming to Lagos till date.
The real Lagos indigenes are there and we know Lagos is engulfed by Ogun state. If you like, quote American constitution - story story, story! Once upon a time, time time!
