Properties / Quantity Of Sharp Sand Required To Mold 3,500 Pieces Of 9" Blocks. by gibbi(m): 1:24pm On Nov 30, 2016
Can experts in the house give me an idea of the quantity of sharp sand that I need to mold 3000 pieces of 9" hollow blocks. I already have the budget for 100 bags of cement as I am estimating 35 blocks per bag of cement.

So UAE doctors are better qualified to manage malaria than our own doctors? Can you see how our "elites" are our worst ambassadors

So in view of this, what advice will you give someone currently studying civil Engineering in Nigeria?

Be imaginative, go the extra mile, make the library your second home and study beyond what is expected of you. I studied in a Nigerian university myself and today, I head a multinational team. I am not an engineer though, but work in the health sector.

. Do you really want to compare building codes of both nations......haba......the work of a structural engineer is to agree with the architect on the best way to achieve the design following all safety precautions. If you're architect don't go out there to design something that even you don't know how to achieve it because you want to design and give the structural guy sleepness nights. In the construction industry the architect is the team leader followed by the civil/structural engineer and so on and so forth. So if you're worth your salt then your team is worth theirs too.

All these "building codes" excuses. Unless you agree that you are deficient, you can never improve. Most Nigerian engineers are poorly trained which is not a surprise seeing that most lecturers reprint the handouts they were taught with 25 years ago and regurgitate the same out-dated information to their students. Is there any wonder why they compete with roadside artisans for building contracts?

Believe me, the UAE building codes and safety standards are one of the most advanced in the world and the inspections here very stringent. So claims of different building codes are just lame excuses .

Bloody liars

The worlds leading rice producer is China with just an annual turnover of 144,000 tonnes

Why must these people always lie?

Learn how to read data. Did you not see the " 000" on top of the table? It implies that China's production is 144,000,000 tonnes.

FreeWorld23:
you are very wrong using 15# per one block, with this calculation, you will end up paying more cos u can't control the cement that will be used.
In case of next time,
Renegotiate and tell them you are paying per bag of cement and your bidding shouldn't be more than 700#/ bag of cement and they "must" mould u 40 blocks per one bag or 35 blocks per one bag if u want stronger blocks. Dont let them mould above 40 blocks per bag.

Success in your project

This is an interesting observation. Thanks for sharing

The active partner should be placed on salary commensurate with his/her efforts. Profit is then shared according to earlier agreed ratio. If the experience and knowledge of the active partner is monetised, what is the value? Depending of the value of this knowledge, it could account for extra 35% capital contribution or even just 10%

Sorry sir, but it apppears to me that u were talking rather than communicating. I cant pick one specific thing u have said for or against this administration. So transition was terrible, how And while nigeria's bicameral system of legislature is unhelpful, "part-time" legislature makes absolutely no sense, and has no meaning. That u are a legislator doesnt stop u from being a farmer.

So sir Utomi, u have said absolutely nothing. Thanks

That is the problem with Nigeria's education. You cram handouts to pass your exams hence your ability to comprehend is stunted. Utomi is an intellectual and I believe he was addressing like-minds. If you failed to understand what he was saying, perhaps then, you are not one of his audience.
