Good morning house
I'm kind of bothered about immunisations for babies. My princess is 3wks and she was given BCG and Hepatitis the 2nd day of birth. Next appointment is July 1st.

Mamas that have gone through the immunisation processes, could you kindly draw up a list of the immunisations and the times to be taken please. I really want to have a knowledge of this for follow ups on my own.

Most hospitals would give you an immunization schedule which is like a card thing that would be ticked after every immunization, I'm sure you'd be given one at your next immunization if you don't already have one now or you can request for it. i think they even have one at the Primary Health Centers too tho those ones are not too accurate. The next immunization after the one at Birth is 6 weeks, then subsequent ones are at 10 weeks, 14 weeks, 6months, 9months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months then 2 years. But you'd prolly figure it out at your next immunization.

Finally the long awaited second trimester and the honeymoon phase is here, yippy!!!

We should be in our 17th, 16th, 15th, 14th and 13th weeks.
Ms should be a thing of the pass and those of us still experiencing it, I guess in no distance time you'll be freed.
No fretting, it will all end in praise.

Our 1st commandment... thou must be very faithful to your routine drugs.
Remember this always.

How come no one has checked gender yet. I first checked Giddybaby's gender at 13 weeks but this time around I'm not so curious. I want a boy so I can have one of each gender and be done with childbearing, I also want a girl so she can wear Guddybaby's clothes and cuz hubby wants another girl. Maybe id have boy/girl twins but i strongly think its a girl again.

I'd be starting antenatal around August, I'm not even in the mood yet. What else sef, MS has left me 80%. But I still feel weak, nauseous sometimes but no more vomiting, always hungry and too much saliva . So much for honeymoon, I'm hoping it would still get better.

Congrats Rofemiguwa, I've been under a hole, I don't even think I knew you were pregnantn God bless baby Olivia.

a. Besides Dano, which other full cream milk can a one year old baby take? Kerrygold and Oldenburger, are they full cream?
b. Please how much did you guys pay for one year immunization o? The cheapest I saw was 40k. Hian. I know some mamas said they paid 18k abeg point me the direction of the hospital. I dont mind anywhere as long as its in Lagos biko
c. Is taking ribena every day healthy? Like we run out of a pack every two weeks. I have tried to incorporate other drinks like tea but she wont take them. She wont even take diluted ribena. Is there any other drink I can switch her to that is healthier?

I was told on this thread to budget 23-30k for one year but I ended up spending just 6k cuz MMR & Chicken Pox have been moved to 15 months and I'm guessing they are the more expensive ones. What we got for 6k at One year is Meningococcal conjugate, PCV Booster, Vit A and OPV or something else . Forgot to ask them how much we'd spend at 15 months but I dont expect to spend over 20k.

As for Ribena, she can't talk yet so I doubt she'd remember Ribena unless you show her. My baby too takes those drinks way more than I like thanks to her dad. What I do is I never offer her any sweet drinks on my own, always comes from hubby, and I try to discourage it with excuses like it's too early, it's too late, her poo was a bit watery, even when its a lie. This way I've been able to limit intake to about twice a week. Why don't you give her water

Hello mummies, please I would like to find out how long a tin of formula can be kept for if not in use at the moment but was used twice.

I think they write it on the can to dispose after tin has been opened for is it 2 or 4 weeks. It doesn't matter how many times you use it as long as the seal is broken just go by what's written on the can.

Eyah sorry, I can imagine the stress. Please if they haven't run test, insist they run tests cuz it might be infection, that's how Giddybaby acts when we are treating infection. Is she eating anything at all, try giving her pap or cereal with spoon maybe she doesn't have energy to suck.

Me too, it bleached my baby's back when she was still a few weeks old and its that exact spot that's been suffering from the extreme dryness, dunno if that's the cause set.
@Kazchick, Aveeno works for me and I trust it cuz it's gentle, I also moisturize that part with shearbutter daily, don't wanna use anything that might cause further damaged skin.

I replied this before, just noticing it didn't go. I only put crayfish and a teaspoon of olive oil before adding the AS. Every once in a while I add formula to the boiling water before the AS too tho she didn't seem to like that very much. As long as she's still being breastfed just keep breastfeeding her as much as possible so she can get her milk requirement from there

Lol lets say it depends on how many other people are using the milk at home and how often its taken. In my own case I think its lil cousin that's using Giddybaby as an excuse to finish the milk, she doesn't know its Ijebu she's dealing with. I'd soon start buying her her own separate tin of the cheapest milk I can find.

Lots of parents use it, I tried it once my baby hit 1 and she didn't like it, neither did I (unlike formula that I could console myself and chew dry when she rejects) so we just started giving her the normal peak we use at home. For someone that rejected all different formula and even peak 123, she doesn't even seem to notice the taste of the adult peak in her food no matter how much you load it so thats why we went with that

I do not have a kids account, I haven't really considered it.

We have life and critical illness insurance. In fact the life insurance sef I am looking to maximise it to the most ridiculous payout I can afford! We have also being talking of getting our wills in place, however we haven't gotten around to doing it.

We also have an amount of money that is being ringfenced for general investments now to build up funds for future school fees, housing etc..

Note dd is only 2 and will not be starting proper school till sometime in 2020.

Essentially I think it maybe a good idea if there is a tendency to dip your fingers into your savings every now and then. Kids accounts offers you with a solution that puts some restriction on chopping into the funds.

However also my logic is if the kids cannot access the funds till they are a certain age, God forbid something happens to the parents before then, does it really help them will they then wait till they are old enough to access the accounts before they can go on will their lives.....

Having trusted executors/trustees that can access parents accounts in the event of death where the kids are still underage and can disburse funds for fees and upkeep is my own logic

However different strokes for different folks.

This makes sense of course, I know many parents who would invest in stocks then sell off at school fees season then reinvest again waiting for the next school fees season. I buy into this idea especially if you are able to monitor the stocks first hand to make sure you don't lose a lot and pull a Hunniesuzzie.

But I've also witnessed some ridiculous investments imo. If you are saving up to give your child a better future, then that child better be having atleast 20 million in that account when you pass and that's for today's economy, who knows what the reasonable amount would 'be when our kids graduate college. To open a savings account where you throw in 10k monthly is ridiculous, especially when I read in the post I quoted that such accounts have a 3% interest rate and I assume that's not per month.

Again if a buxed up grandma is looking for a place to stash away some money for the grand kids, then even FGNSB doesn't seem like a bad idea. My post wasn't to discourage saving but to bring up conversations like this, and to make askers aware that this isn't the kinda question you ask online and then invest in the popular reply. Investments would vary based on primary reason for investing in the child, how much you have to invest etc. I'm just gonna stop typing now cuz I'm pregnant and tired.

With these two products you are looking at interest rate of around 13%-14% compared to the 2-3% you will receive with a savings account.

I have previously discussed mutual funds on this thread.

For the FGN bonds, there's a fixed tenure (minimum 2 years) and just like the mutual funds you can choose to reinvest the interest or have the interest paid into a back account.

I don't know how anyone has the patience for these kind of investments. I find the interest rate to this FGN Savings Bond to be ridiculously low. 13% per annum. Rich men might stash away money for their children this way, but if you're middle class and lets say you have a million naira to spare and you invest that in FGNSB for your child, at the end of the year your baby would have made only additional N130, 000.00.Since it has a 2-3 year maturity rate, at the end of two-three years he'd have made N1, 260,000.00-N1, 390,000.00. Either way adunbulivit. I don't have that kinda patience biko. Agreed, its extremely low risk but my Anambra husband would tell you to give him the money let him double it in six months rather that FGN's 8 years.

Anyway my opinion is if the sum you have to invest is not something that can reasonably help the life of the child if anything happens to you, then I'd rather invest it in hustling while there is life. Either that or I'd make riskier investments that are more profit yielding.

Present Aunty. MS is still dealing with me. I entered babycentre this morning and they told me my baby is the size of a lime. Like after all this stress, its still the size of a frigging lime and how can something the size of a lime be causing this much sickness. I'm angry. Still hoping it would abate anytime from now until two weeks, can't believe some people have to endure this their whole pregnancy.

Our team is growing, 16 people this early morning, lots of xmas babies this year. . How are you guys doing

I buy on my way to work. Those women that sells okpa full mile2 bus stop. As for the chicken I bought it separately at TFC.

Oh I've not gotten to that stage yet, for now most of the food here actually create the opposite effect

Hospital might be a good idea. I don't think you should be doing Ori plus salt for a 3 week old. For the blocked nostrils, you can put a few drops of eucalyptus oil in hot water and do steam inhalation. Or buy saline drops, drop a few drops in her nose to unblock then suck it out to make her night easier.
