The Senate has rejected Ibrahim Magu’s nomination as Chairman of the EFCC.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, who addressed journalists after a closed-door session on Thursday, said the rejection was based on “security report.”

He said the rejection would be communicated to President Muhammadu Buhari to take further action.

The Lagos State Government is set to commence the prosecution of suspects linked to the collapse of a five-story building on Tuesday March 8, 2016 in Lekki, Lagos which led to the death of 30 persons.

In a press statement signed on Wednesday by the Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem, the office of the Attorney-General has concluded its legal advice and ready to prosecute a total of nine suspects deemed culpable in the collapse of the building.

“Following the conclusion of investigation by the Nigerian Police Force and technical reports of relevant Experts, my Office has concluded its Legal Advice and decided to prosecute the suspects for failure to obtain Planning Permit contrary to the provisions of the Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law, Ch. CU2 and Involuntary Manslaughter contrary to the provisions of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Ch. C17, Laws of Lagos State, 2015 respectively”, the Attorney-General said in the statement.

It would be recalled that on Tuesday 8th March, 2016 at about 05:00hrs, a property being built by Messrs. Lekki Gardens Estate Limited and Get Too Rich Investment Limited known as Horizon 1 Extension, House H15, Lekki, Lagos State collapsed claiming the lives of 30 people.

Kazeem reiterated the commitment of the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode-led administration to protecting the lives and properties of its citizens and assured the general public that it would leave no stone unturned to ensure that criminal negligence and any form of crime is duly brought to book.

Dr Usman David Kuti has emerged as the new rector of Benue State Polytechnic Ugbokolo, his appointment is coming after the institution have been without a rector for more than a year.

Kuti is a native of Apa local government area, He holds a doctorate degree in Fine Arts and is an author of several books.

He is a Christian by faith and speaks Hausa, Idoma, English and Igala fluently.

He is an alumnus of ABU Zaria and UNN where he did his first degree, masters degree and doctoral degree in 1985, 2003 and 2011 respectively.

The new Rector contested the position of Rectorship with other top contenders for the plum job such as Prof. Agbulu N., Dr Ogwuche M. and Engr. Adikwu F. before emerging victorious ahead of them.

President Muhammadu Buhari is at the National Assembly for the presentation of the 2017 budget proposal.

The President arrived at the National Assembly around 1:58pm and was received by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki; and the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, when he entered the chamber.

After the opening prayers some minutes after 2pm, Saraki set the tone for the presentation and called for closer ties between the legislature and executive, and transparency in the budget process.

It’s all the rage now; every Tom, Dick and Harry is becoming a pastor, setting up their own churches and making lots of money, so why not you?

The late L. Ron Hubbard, founder of the controversial church of Scientology, famously once said that ‘ if you want to get rich, start a religion!’.

You don’t need any formal education even though a grasp of the English language and the ability to read the Bible will be an advantage. You don’t need a ‘calling’ from God or have to endure years of studying in a seminary or university. You can pick up a certificate online that will enable you to call yourself a ‘pastor’, ‘bishop’ or ‘prophet’ for next to nothing from the very many fake Bible colleges or universities.

You don’t even need to prepare your own sermons – there are online Christian organisations that will send you a ready-made sermon, every day for free, if you register your email address with them.

But the one thing you will need is to be a powerful orator – you must be able to talk in a commanding and hypnotizing voice that will make people believe anything you tell them.

Next you need premises. Most pastors start off in their living rooms, boys quarters or room & parlour and move to bigger premises later on.

For a congregation start off with friends and family and get them to spread the word. If you can afford it you can ‘rent’ parishioners to give the impression a lot of people are attending your church.

Now most people who attend ‘end-time’ churches are not there to listen to sermons they want to see miracle healings, listen to prophecies and be cured of all their worldy problems.

To do this most pastors employ simple tricks of deception, like magicians and illusionists on TV – hiring people to pretend they are lame, blind or ill so they can ‘miraculously heal’ them.( - be careful here – a ‘bishop’ recently got a man to lie in a coffin and pretend to be dead so he could bring him back to life. Unfortunately the man actually died and the ‘bishop’ was unable to resurrect him!). You can get an electrical engineer to build a device that will project holographic images of angels onto a wall giving the impression ‘angels’ are in your church just like ‘Prophet’ Shepherd Bushiri does. Or alternatively you can obtain ‘power’ from questionable sources such as witches, witch-doctors and other agents of Darkness to enable you to perform ‘miracles’. People are gullible and once they see or hear about the ‘miracles’ performed in your church they will flock in and then will be the time to start charging them. Start with the mandatory 10% tithe as your primary income earner. To make sure nobody skips their tithe because of recession or other mitigating factors get them to pay with debit card or bank payment app. This way the bank will take out the money automatically every month and pay it to you – and saving you a lot of hassle!

For your secondary income, which can also be multi-streams, you start by charging for counselling, ‘special’ prayers , anointing oil and water and whatever else you can think of!(Recently a Zimbabwean pastor has been selling ‘anointed’ cucumbers to his congregation and apparently the ladies were very excited – excuse the pun!).

But there’s more money to be made from a YouTube channel and publishing books.

To set-up a YouTube channel is easy, you don’t need to be a rocket scientist or a graduate. Just get somebody ( preferably a teenager with at least a working knowledge of iPhone 7) to video your services, upload it, get everybody to subscribe to your channel and watch your videos and Google will pay you, in dollars, at the end of every month.

The next best money-spinner is book publishing. Don’t worry if you can’t write a book because there are lots of unemployed English and media studies graduates out there who’ll ghost write for you for a fee. Just be sure to put a fancy title on it like ‘How to Pray for Money’ or ‘Make Angels Obey You’ and YOUR name as the author and get your congregation to buy it!

When the money starts pouring in from all your ventures the time will be ripe to start diversifying into schools, real-estate and other businesses.

If you keep it up you might be able to afford a Bentley and a private jet in a couple of years – and a First Class ticket to Hell!

Abducted journalist and news Editor at Radio Benue, Mrs Iyuadoo Tor Agbidye has been released by her abductors, Her husband, Achia Tor Agbidye posted this heartwarming message few minutes ago on Facebook.

Mrs Agbidye was abducted in her home in Makurdi 4 days ago.

At the time of writing this report, it was ascertained if ransom was paid or not.

A lot of people want to know how you got your wealth?

From blogging! A thousand percent is from blogging. I don’t do any other thing. There is so much money to be made from blogs that people do not know.

How many staffers do you have?

I have over 30. Last month was the first time I paid a lot of people. I was like, I could have kept this
whole money for myself but it is part of expansion and growth.

Do you think you court controversy or just misunderstood?

I don’t go out of my way to look for controversy maybe I am being misunderstood. I am a blogger and a business woman, I have to go out of my way to look for gossip for my readers. I don’t want anybody to fail. I don’t wish anybody evil.

How did you feel when Kemi said you took money from Dasuki?

I have never denied it. The reason I never said anything about it was because it was overwhelming. Someone called me and said I should calm down. The person said people have not come to terms with the fact that I bought such a property. Before the whole stuff started, I have never heard of the man’s name. The only money I collected from any APC or PDP was for advert. I know I am not guilty of anything. If not, EFCC would have come for me by now.

When people say such things, I understand where they are coming from. Those who are not into online business will not know how it works. It is only those into online business that know I can buy two of that house.

What will happen to your house when you get married?

My parents would live there. I live with all my family now – my parents and my sisters.

Can you tell us how you felt the day you bought your house?

I was extremely happy. I couldn’t believe it. From Mushin to Surulere to Banana Island. I think you have only one life to live. My dream was a luxurious house and I said if I could afford it, I would get it. It was such an amazing day for me.

Wife of Mr Achia Tor Agbidye, the Zonal Manager Of First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Mrs Jill Iyuadoo Tor-Agbidye was kidnapped this morning, 2nd Dec 2016 at their residence at New GRA along Abu King Shuluwa road Makurdi Benue State. Its been reported that the boys were four in number and they seized Mrs Agbidye's  SUV which they drove off in.

Mrs Agbidye is a staff of Radio Benue Makurdi.

The young man who rode on a bicycle from Ibadan, Oyo State to Makurdi after completing his National Youth Service, Mr. Isaac Sekav Ahungwa has been offered automatic employment by Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State.

Governor Ortom announced this today when he received Mr. Ahungwa at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi.

He described the young man as a determined son of the state whose example should be emulated by others.

The Governor said his decision to offer automatic employment to Mr. Ahungwa was to encourage other young people never to give up on their dreams no matter the challenges they face.

Governor Ortom restated the resolve of his administration to create opportunities for youths of Benue State to realise their aspirations in different fields of endeavour.

Speaking earlier, Mr. Isaac Ahungwa said the life story of Governor Ortom inspired him to embark on the patriotism tour riding a bicycle from Ibadan to State.

He commended the Governor for his efforts in addressing the challenges of development confronting the state in spite of the current economic realities.

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has sacked his Senior Special Assistant on Administration, Mr Gurgur Japheth.

According to a press release signed by Acting Secretary to the state Government says his services were no longer needed.

The real reasons behind his sack were not revealed but Lasgidi Online can authoritatively say his sack is unconnected with his recent social media posts.

Before joining the governor, Mr Gurgur was the Assistant Registrar at the University of Agriculture, Makurdi.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Administration ,Mr Gurgur Japheth has been relieved of his Appointment.

A letter to that effect signed by the Acting Secretary to the State Government, Dr.Bem Melladu, Stated that his services were no longer Needed.

Until this Development, Mr Gurgur was attached to the wife of the Executive Governor of Benue State,Dr.Eunice Ortom.
