Gunmen dressed in army uniform have abducted seven wedding guests at the Isara, Ogun State end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The victims, who attended a wedding in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Saturday, were said to be returning to their base in Lagos State on Sunday, when one of the vehicles conveying them to their destinations broke down on the road.


According to PUNCH, one of the victims, Folahan Akinsola, said they were attempting to tow the faulty vehicle when the kidnappers struck.

He said, “We went to attend a wedding in Ibadan on Saturday and lodged there after the wedding. The following day, as early as 5.30am, we started our journey to Lagos State. We moved in a convoy of three vehicles, including two Toyota Corollas and one Toyota Camry.

The simple reason why is because for decades we were subsidizing petrol, diesel (till 2012/13) and kerosene.....meaning that such things were being sold below the production price , and a subsidy was paid to make up the difference between the production price and sales price.

At the end of the day, because NNPC was not making a profit refining fuel at home....the refienreis went to the cleaners....which in turn affected diesel and so on. Private investors, until Dangote came along, refused to refine fuel in Nigeria.Who wants to refine fuel here at N180 and above...and sell at below N150 ? Without making a profit?

We could be an exporter of fuel , diesel and so on IF we allow the person refining the fuel to sell fuel to everyone at his price. Or her price. The problem is, this means fuel prices of N200 and above...which means political revolt.

Niger that we are buying fuel from, sells fuel from their refinery at N350 per liter. Thus they have enough profit to fund their refinery, and keep it working well. And Niger is poorer than we are.

How does modular refineries the ones we call illegal refinery florish if refining in Nigeria runs at a loss, ...

Nigerian vehicle manufacturer, Innoson Nigeria Limited, has asked the Federal High Court to stop Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) Plc from changing its legal status from a public limited liability company until it pays over N32 billion allegedly owed Innoson.

The two businesses have had a long business dispute with each claiming wrongdoing against the other.

The bank accused Innoson’s CEO Innocent Chukwuma of forging import documents to defraud the bank.

But efforts to arraign Mr Chukwuma, including by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) failed, as the businessman allegedly resisted arrest while denying any wrongdoing.

Innoson has said the allegation of forgery against Mr Chukwuma was a decoy by the bank to run away from paying a debt owed the company.

The money in question rose from about N8.2 billion to over N32 billion due to accumulated interest.

In its latest suit, the company said the bank’s attempt to transmute to a private company or holding would affect Innoson’s move to reclaim over N32 billion judgment debt the bank allegedly owes it.

Joined in the suit are Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

PREMIUM TIMES gathered that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had this month granted approval in principle for the bank to change its status.

With the change, GTBank is expected to exit the Nigeria Stock Exchange.

But Innoson has now approached a court seeking suspension of the process until GTBank pays the ‘debt’.

On November 3rd, the Supreme Court of Nigeria struck out GTB’s motion filed to set aside its earlier decision of February 27 which dismissed the GTB’s appeal against Court of Appeal judgement of February 6, 2014, in favour of Innoson Nigeria Ltd.

The vehicle manufacturing company had on March 27, 2019, obtained an order from Federal High Court, Awka Division, granting it leave to enforce and execute the judgment and Garnishee Order Absolute made by a Federal High Court in Ibadan on May 18, 2010, and July 29, 2011, respectively.

This court order was concurrently affirmed by the Court of Appeal in the judgment of February 6, 2014, and by the Supreme Court in its judgment of February 27, 2019.

When Innoson Nigeria Ltd tried to execute the judgment, GTB went to court to file a motion on notice seeking orders to suspend the execution embarked by Innoson Nigeria Ltd and also seeking orders to set aside the exparte orders made by the court granting Innoson leave to enforce the judgment and to issue the processes of executing same.

The court, however, declined to accede the prayers of the bank, and instead affirmed the order it granted Innoson. It okayed the process of enforcing the judgment.

The Supreme Court on November 3 sided with the lower courts by refusing an order setting aside its earlier judgement and that of the Court of Appeal.
Fresh legal battle
With the bank’s move to now change its legal status, Innoson Nigeria Ltd has now approached a Federal High Court in Enugu to halt the process.


In the suit filed on November 23 with suit number FHC/EN/CS/161/2020, the company sought an order of perpetual injunction restraining the CAC from deregistering the GTB as a public limited liability company and or re-registering the bank as a private limited liability until GTB pays the company outstanding judgment debt of N32, 875, 204, 984.38k arising from Suit Nos: FHC/L/CS/603/2006 and No. FHC/AWK/CS/139/2012 respectively affirmed by the appellate courts.

Innoson Nigeria Ltd also wants the court to issue an order “cancelling the 1st Defendant’s (GTB’s) special resolution and or any other of its resolution that it should be deregistered as a public limited liability company and or be re-registered as a private limited liability company and or a holding company until it–the 1st Defendant (GTB)–pays Innoson Nig Ltd the total outstanding judgment debt of N32, 875, 204, 984.38k (Thirty two Billion, Eight Hundred and seventy Five Million, Two Hundred and four thousand, Nine Hundred and Eight Four Naira, Thirty Eight kobo) arising from suit Nos. FHC/L/CS/603/2006 and FHC/AWk/CS/139/2012 respectively affirmed by the appellate courts in Appeal Nos. CA/1/258/2011, SC.694/2014 and CA/E/288/2013.”

The company also wants the court to issue an order setting aside the No-objection certification issued by SEC on GTB’s proposal to be re-registered as a private limited liability company and as a holding or a holding financial company.

The suit also wants the court to quash the approval-in-principle granted to the bank to operate as a holding or a holding financial company by the CBN.

The fifth prayer in the suit is for “an order of perpetual injunction restraining the 2nd Defendant from granting the 1st Defendant a financial holding company license and or a final approval to operate or carry on business as a financial holding company whether in its present name or as a private limited liability company until it, the 1st Defendant pays the Plaintiff the total outstanding judgement debt of N32, 875, 204, 984. 38k (Thirty Two Billion, Eight Hundred and Seventy-Five Million, Two Hundred and Four Thousand, Nine Hundred and Eighty-Four Naira, Thirty-Eight Kobo) arising from suit Nos. FHC/L/CS/603/2006 and FHC/AWK/CS/139/2012 respectively affirmed by the appellate courts in Appeal Nos. CA/1/258/2011, SC.694/2014, and CA/E/288/2013.”

A spokesman for GTBank, Oyinade Adegbite, did not respond to repeated calls to get the bank’s comments for this story.

I am sad that the indigenous people of oyigbo LGA in Rivers state have become victims of circumstance in the crisis caused by migrants IPOB miscreants during the EndSars protest that led to death of security agencies in Oyigbo LGA.

Now if you have been following this incident you will understand how this issue have revealed the truth about the people of Rivers state and Niger delta (South South) at large, their decision of being a part of Biafra which they rejected during the Biafra war.

The people of Old Rivers state (AkwaIbom, CrossRivers, Bayelsa, Rivers) after so much demands and struggle asking the federal govt to create Rivers state from Eastern Region which they were seriously marginalized by the Igbo led government, finally got their request granted and on 27th May 1967, under the administration of General Yakubu Gowon, Old Rivers State was created.

Surprisedly, while the people of Old Rivers state were celebrating their unique state were they can have full control over government affairs, Ojukwu out of greed as many would say, declared Biafra including the good people of Niger delta in Old Rivers state. This forceful annexation of the territory of the Niger delta people by Ojukwu igbo Biafra was resisted which led to the death of the innocent people of niger delta by Biafran soldiers. This is the reason why some ethnic groups in the Niger delta have their annual celebrations from the liberation of biafran armies which killed a lot of their people during the war.

The igbo leaders have refused to tell their children the truth, hence they keep believing that the Niger delta have interest in biafra even though some of the igbos who have read and made research know the truth that the Niger delta wants an independent state from every region of Nigeria, which led to the declaration of Niger delta republic In 1966 even before Biafra declaration in 1967.

Rivers people are happy with Gov. Wike, that is why not even a traditional ruler from Rivers state or even Oyigbo LGA have come out to say the security agencies are killing their indigenous people ever since the curfew in Oyigbo was imposed.

No Rivers state youth organization across the ethnic groups have come out to condemn the way Gov. Wike is handling the IPOB terrorist organization crisis in Oyigbo LGA. Instead we have the Rivers National Assembly Members who paid Gov. Wike a visit and declare their support, stating that Rivers state is Niger delta and can never be annexed by any group or region.

It is only the IPOB members across the social media platforms, using propaganda and blackmail to attack Gov. Wike, a man who is protecting the life, properties and territory of his people.

Take it or leave it, the people of Rivers state do not want IPOB terrorists in our state, we can not play politics with our territory, we know who we are, and what we stand for, we are Niger deltans and we have our own struggle, that is why even during the era of Niger delta Avengers, they made it clear they were fighting for Niger dletans and even threatened to declare Niger delta republic.

Igbo youths, stop allowing a few miscreants under the IPOB terrorist group to brainwash you with lies and propaganda, these people are only causing problems for the peace loving igbo people. They know the truth but have refused to acknowledge it, thinking by filling the Internet with lies and propagandas will make the Niger delta people be part of Biafra, it will not work.

Igbos should advice their brother Nnamdi Kanu to focus on his South East to achieve his Biafra rather than include the Niger delta people who do not care or participate in any Biafran celebrations. Already there is a growing tension in the hearts of Rivers youths and elders ever since Nnamdi Kanu placed a 100 million bounty on Gov. Wike. How foolish is he to make such statement? He has provoked a lot of Rivers people, we are watching, and when we will respond, it will be very bloody for the Igbos.

Those Igbos who have brain let them understand this piece with an open heart and do the needful by calling their IPOB brothers to order, while those especially the IPOBs who have decide to remain brainwashed and foolish should get themselves ready to dance the music when the drum starts.
