Politics / “We Want Grazing Reserves In The North Only” - Tambuwal by GINJALANDGIST: 5:31pm On Jun 09, 2016

The Sokoto State Governor, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has laid to rest the fears that the Federal Government is planing to establish Grazing Reserves for the Fulani Herdsmen, across the country.

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives who spoke in Abia State during a one day working visit to the South-Eastern State, said that the Federal Government under President Mohammadu Buhari will establish grazing reserves and ranches only in the northern States of the country.

He stressed that no grazing reserve will be established in the southeast or anywhere in the entire south.

His words: "I am a Fulani man from Sokoto, and I have cattles. I know that it is better for me to rear and keep my herds in one place and provide good grass for them.

"Talking about Southeast and northern Nigeria relationship this issue of herdsmen that has been coming up recently I believe Federal Government is coming up with a measured response of ensuring that we have grazing reserves, particularly, with emphasis, in northern Nigeria, in states where they originate from, so that they can remain within their neighborhood, within their families and carter for their castles in a much more better way, much more organized way and much more economically viable system.

"By having a grazing reserve in Sokoto State for instance, all herdsmen and herds farmers in Sokoto can graze within Sokoto State environment without moving their herds out.

"We in the northern states in particularly have embraced this very proactive measure of establishing grazing reserves in the north so that the herdsmen and their herds can remain at home in their environment. That will give us better meat, better milk and for the people of Sokoto and Aba leather for making shoes and other leather works." Tambuwal said.

It will be recalled that the Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu recently said that any plan to establish a grazing reserves for the Fulani herdsmen will be frustrated in the southeast because there are no land space in the zone for such.

His words: "We don't need grazing reserves in the South-East, because we don't have land space for it. There are enough land in the north, so let the establishment of grazing reserves be in the north."

Meanwhile, Governor Tambuwal who was in Abia to commission some projects executed by Governor Ikpeazu praised his Colleague for what he described as giant strides in the face of paucity of funds.

His words: "My dear brother, I can't thank you enough for the recognition and honor of inviting me to come here to Abia State to commission projects executed by your administration.

"I must commend you for the giant strides in the midst of paucity and none availability of founds, you've been able to execute the projects that you found me worthy to come and commission."

Governor Tambuwal, who said that he has had a long standing relationship with the good people of Abia State, commended Governor Ikpeazu for his leadership which he said has been able to sustain peaceful Abia State, while praying that peace shall never depart Abia State, even as it shall permeate the entity of the rest part of Nigeria.

His words: "Without peace we cannot have development and we cannot have progress. Let me therefore use the advantage of this platform to call on all Nigerians to continue to embrace peace and peaceful ways of conveying grievances that they have.

"Taking up arms against your state, or against your fellow brothers will not help matters it will rather worsen situations. I call on every Nigerian who is involved in any form of violence to please embrace peace and approach government at various levels on whatever grievance that anybody is having.

"I believe that all of us, from Mr. President down to council chairman as elected by the people, and we are here to listen to our people. Be rest assured that we up north are very much interested in what is happening around here and all over the country." He said.

Speaking on the killing of a Christian woman from Imo State in Kano State, Governor Tambuwal said: "We are saddened by the development in Kano State, where one of our leaders and mother Mrs. Bridget Agbaheme was murdered.

"I convey condolences of people of Sokoto State to her family, and all Nigerians. I condemn the way and manner her life was taken unjustly. I said unjustly because she was never sentenced by any court of law. It was an act of a gang mob hiding under the guise of religion.

"As a Moslem from Sokoto State, I assure you that such act was unislamic. The religion of Islam is a religion of peace. Islam itself as a word means peace.

"We are also saddened by the attack meted against one young boy (Francis Emmanuel) by his stepmother in Kano State. We are not happy with these development."

While in Abia, Governor Tambuwal commissioned five roads executed by Governor Ikpeazu in Aba.

The road include: Ehere Road, Umule Road, Umuehilegbu (Tonimas) Road, Umuocham Road and Umuojima Road.

However, Umuojima Road has been renamed after a three time Deputy Governor of the State, Late Dr. Chima Nwafor.

The Late Dr Nwafor, a renowned surgeon, was first Deputy Governor to the First Civilian Governor of the State, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu from 1992 to 1993.

He was later appointed Deputy Governor under former Governor, Orji Uzo Kalu, in 2002 to complete Orji Kalu and Enyinnaya Abaribe tenure, when Abaribe resigned.

In 2003, Dr. Nwafor was elected as Deputy Governor to Kalu during the second tenure of Orji Kalu, but died he in office before the end of the tenure.

Late Dr. Nwafor is a native of Umuojima village in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia state.

Governor Ikpeazu, who later flagged off the MCC-Samek road for construction, also commissioned five garbage compactors procured for the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA). And also commissioned the relaunched Abia State Taxi Scheme.

Men of Nigerian police and army were seen this morning, forcing Hausa people into their vans and conveying them off.

The reason for this action could not be ascertained, as a young man who gave his name is Chidike told us.

"We just saw the police and army forcing them into their vehicles.
"It may be connected to the news we heard that herdsmen wanted to attack Umuojima village outskirts of Aba, which they did not succeed

Another bystander explained to our correspondent that they used forced on them.

"From Umungasi side to Abia Poly, Hausa people were forced to enter the vehicles, They were even using "BY FIRE BY FORCE" on them. If you dont agree, they will force you into their Van.

According to another man who spoke briefly to us, he said it was announced on Radio that a large number of Fulani herdsmen were seen gathered in a bush, in Umuojima village, few kilometers off Aba.
"The person also said the security men and villagers gave them a hot chase from the bush where they gathered.

On popular social media platform, FACEBOOK, a commenter said "All the Hausas dat used to stay at Abiapoly 2nd gate has being conveyed off leaving their shoe making equipments there. Even one of dem that refuse to go with dem, they beat him nd forced him inside their vehicle.

Politics / Popular Phone Market, St Michael's Road Aba Being Demolished (photos) - See Why by GINJALANDGIST: 1:59pm On May 04, 2016
St Michael's market is under demolition by Abia State Government, having failed so far to make the traders to relocate the market to another site.

The "Aba Urban Renewal (A.U.R)" ably led by Dr. Engr. Solomon Ogunji in conjunction with 'Abia State Market Development Committee (ASMDC)' also led by Hon. Solomon Nwaigwe are currently at St. Michael's Road Aba, bringing down the market.

This is in line with the traders' refusal so far to relocate their business to 'Aba Mega Mall' sited at Osisioma where Abia State Government have constructed an International standard trading complex for them.

The attire worn by leader of the indigenous people of #Biafra IPOB Nnamdi Kanu, and two other defendants in their court appearance today.

MEANWHILE
Mr. Ejiofor, counsel to Nnamdi Kanu said the SSS operatives at the scene insisted that they would only allow three additional family members of Mr. Kanu to join those already in the court premises.

He said when he (Mr. Ejiofor) tried to explain to them that there was an order of court permitting members of the public to witness the proceedings, Mr. Ejiofor said a staff of the SSS threatened to kill him.

He therefore prayed the court to take note of the threat.

“My lord I will like you to take note of this threat to my life, because I don’t know what will happen tomorrow,” Mr. Ejiofor said.

The trial judge, Mr. Tsoho, who noted that events had taken a different turn from what was expected, added that if the parties to the matter felt threatened, the case might as well be handed over to the celestial order to resolve.

He asked the parties to decide whether or not they wanted the trial to continue.

Politics / Aftermath Of Riot: Ambode Shuts Mile 12 Market by GINJALANDGIST: 4:03pm On Mar 03, 2016

Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwumi Ambode has ordered the immediate closure of the Mile 12 Market.

The governor’s action follows three days of violence between Hausa and Yoruba traders, which have reportedly left three people dead.

The spark for the clash was ignited on Tuesday after a Hausa commercial bike rider knocked down a woman.

The bike rider was told to take the woman to the hospital, but the rider and his colleagues refused.

They insisted that the motorbike association, which collects tolls from them, should take care of the woman.

There was heated argument, which led to a fight.

The fighting continued all through Wednesday till Thursday when some thugs, believed to be of Yoruba origin, invaded the market and started attacking the Hausas.

They burnt seven cars and killed three Hausa traders.

Crime / Video: Russian Throws Self At Bus In Suicide Attempt, FAILS, Goes Back To Work by GINJALANDGIST: 7:36pm On Jan 19, 2016

Bizarre footage captured on a dashcam shows a Russian man exiting a taxi and trying to kill himself by running straight into an oncoming bus, apparently after heavy traffic became just a little too much for him to bear.

Watch on Youtube

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSu2HHM3qrs&feature=youtu.be

However, the apparent suicide attempt didn’t go as hoped, as the bus driver spotted him in advance and slowed down before impact. The would-be deceased, dressed only in a T-shirt and sports trousers - something you rarely see on a frosty Russian winter’s day – then gets up and goes back to his cab.

The reason for the outbreak of madness was said to be extreme frustration after the man was stuck in a traffic jam for over 30 minutes. The clip was shot on January 13 - the third day after almost two weeks of Russia’s nationwide New Year holidays - which may account for it all getting a little too much for the poor fellow to take.

DOWNLOAD VIDEO

The survivor, who reportedly sustained a ruptured spleen and multiple rib fractures, proceeded to work as if nothing had happened. It was only after the working day was over that he was admitted to the hospital.

Business / South Africa To Stop Buying Crude Oil From Nigeria, Opens Talks With Iran by GINJALANDGIST: 1:27pm On Jan 19, 2016
Nigeria’s woes in the area of dwindling revenue from crude oil sales is expected to heighten, as the South African Petroleum Industry Association (SAPIA) stated that South Africa would likely stop importing crude oil from Nigeria following the lifting of the sanctions on Iran, Bloomberg is reporting.

Executive Director of the SAPIA, Avhapfani Tshifularo, told journalists that the potential return of Iranian oil exports to South Africa threaten to displace barrels from Saudi Arabia and Nigeria that plugged the supply gap when sanctions were imposed on Iran, which is OPEC’s fifth biggest producer.

He said: “The re-emergence of Iranian crude oil provides options for those willing to buy from Iran. Iranian imports are likely to displace the Nigerian and Saudi Arabian crudes, since they seem to have filled the gap since South Africa stopped importing Iranian crude oil.”
