Policemen attached to Ejigbo Division have arrested a suspected member of a robbery gang that specialised in attacking bank customers along Egbe Road, Lagos.

Recovered from the suspect was N250,000 earlier snatched from a bank customer, who had gone to make some transaction in one of the banks at NNPC Bus Stop, along Ikotun-Ejigbo Road.

The two-man gang, who operated on motorcycle, accosted the bank customer as she was coming out of the bank, last Friday.

The victim’s shout for help alerted a Mobile policeman on guard duty at the bank.

They were said to have engaged the policeman in a gun battle, but were overpowered by reinforcement from a patrol team from Ejigbo Division.

The suspects took to their heels, but one of them was caught up with at Egbe Junction.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Elkana Bala, who confirmed the incident, said: “One Brownie pistol with one live ammunition was recovered from the suspect. The sum of N250,000 earlier robbed from a female victim was recovered and handed over to her.

“The suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SARS for further investigation. Efforts are in place to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.”

Bala also disclosed that policemen at Satellite Division foiled attempts by another robbery gang to snatch a Peugeot 307 salon car at Mosalashi area, along Lagos-Badagry Expressway, Mile 2, with the arrest of suspected leader of the gang, Francis Abubakar.

One locally-made shotgun, according to Bala, was recovered from the suspect.

He said: “The Peugeot 307 was recovered and handed over to the owner. SARS has also taken over the case with a view to apprehending other members of the gang.

“Investigation is ongoing, at the end of which the suspect will be charged to court.”

Police in Ogun state have arrested a man; Emmanuel Ikhine, 52, for having forceful and unlawful carnal knowledge of his 18 – year-old biological daughter.

The suspect who resides at 6, Iyaniwura street, in Joju area of Sango Ota was arrested on Saturday following a report by one Yemisi Ashade; who came to the station in company of the victim.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state; Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a release, stated that Ashade complained that the girl came to her and reported how the father has been abusing her sexually whenever she is alone at home, and always threatened to deal with her if she dares tell anyone about it.

Abimbola; a Deputy Superintendent of Police, added that when the victim could not bear the sexual assault any longer, she confided in Ashade about her experience.

According to the Police Spokesperson, the Police acting upon the report, visited Iyaniwura street and arrested the suspect.

“The Divisional Police Officer, Sango Ota, Godwin Idehai, a Chief Superintendent of Police(CPS), detailed his detectives to the scene where the randy father was promptly arrested.

“On interrogation, he made a confessional statement that he has been having carnal knowledge of the victim long before now since he has separated with his wife.

“The victim who claimed to be the only girl amongst the three children of her father explained how the suspect has been sleeping with her whenever her two brothers are not around with threat, but when she can not bear it, she reported to their neighbour who brought her to the station to report.

“The victim was taken to general hospital where it was confirmed that she is already pregnant for her father.

“The Commissioner of Police, Bashir makama has directed that the suspect should be transferred to anti-human trafficking and child labour unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and prosecution,” he stated.

There was mild drama in a bus, last week, as a lady was criticized for allowing her two children sit comfortably inside a commercial bus.

The mom had boarded the bus and paid for three seats for herself and her two children, but her action got two men infuriated and they descended on her for “spoiling“ the kids.

According to them, she should have lapped them or asked other passengers to help her lap them instead of making them have a seat to themselves. .

They claimed her action was disrespectful because some older people couldn’t get a seat in the bus and the children should have been told to stand up for them.

However, another passenger defended the lady by saying there was nothing wrong in what she did since she could afford it, but one of the men insisted that that’s not the proper way to prepare the kids for future hardship.

Blogger and social media personality, Kemi Olunloyo, has said that though she has a high sex drive, she cannot date a man who is way younger than her.

Speaking with Saturday Beats during the week, she said, “Nigerians don’t talk about sex. They don’t get exclusive like I have done. The sex drive thing was something that happened to me at a stage but many people don’t like to talk about it in Nigeria because they don’t think it is proper.

What is going on with me now at 55 (high sex drive) is the same thing that happened when I was a teenager. I think it is something peculiar to women in their fifties. I have spoken with a lot of women in their fifties and they tell me their sex drive becomes higher at that age. That is why there are a lot of sugar mummies. Many of these women are having sex with younger men but I want an older guy.

Some of my friends say that the older guys are now impotent and cannot have sex anymore. But I believe there is somebody out there (for me). I really cannot date a younger guy. Maybe somebody who is in his forties, or a 50-year-old man.”

Meanwhile, on her 55th birthday during the week, one of Olunloyo’s sons with the handle, @eni2171987, on Instagram, had written, “Happy 55th birthday my so-called-mother.” According to Olunloyo, the said post was actually made a year ago. She stated, “That was last year. My son called me around 2am just to wish me happy birthday, so I told him to call me in the morning because I was tired at the time. He then made that particular post, and a year later, it is now everywhere.”

On what she has planned for the rest of the year, Olunloyo said, “I am doing two new things in the media, as regards investigative journalism. I am working on COZA and the case of the young man, Chinedu Obi, who was killed in Ogun State by policemen who claimed that he broke windows of cars in their station. I am going to be doing an investigation on that because the police authorities haven’t released his body to his family until they pay for all the damages Chinedu caused. I have spoken with all the family members and I am about to ‘unleash’ that one.”

About 21 residents have been displaced in Ilupeju community, Magboro, Ogun State, after hoodlums suspected to be land grabbers stormed the premises of a monarch, Oba Isiah Odesanmi.

City Round learnt that the monarch’s family occupied a flat apartment while his tenants and their families lived in the three other bungalows in the compound.

It was gathered that the residents were jolted from their sleep around 5am on Sunday, July 28, 2019, by the thugs, who burgled their apartments and carted away valuables, including money and clothes.

Our correspondent learnt that the assailants, numbering about 35, had claimed to be executing a court judgment, asking Odesanmi to vacate the land.

They were said to have raided the buildings unhindered for about an hour before policemen from the Warewa division arrived at the scene. Some suspects were arrested by the police while others escaped.

Odesanmi’s wife, Iyabo, told City Round that the hoodlums barged into their apartment with guns and cutlasses, adding that her husband was not around on that day.

She said, “They came around 5am and broke the door to gain entrance into our apartment. My children were at the living room while I was in the bedroom. They pointed a gun at me and led me to the living room. They also chased out all our tenants. They burgled my cupboard and stole my clothes, jewellery and N2.5m that my husband asked me to help him keep.

“Afterwards, they started destroying the roofs of the buildings and the burglar-proof bars. Our tenants and their families have been displaced. My son later managed to escape. He went to the police station to make a report and policemen came to stop them.”

Odesanmi, who is the traditional ruler of Area 5, Ile-Ife, Osun State, alleged that a monarch in Magboro, one Tunde Solola, engaged the hoodlums.

He said he bought a plot of land under contention from one Wale Adenugba, backed up with deeds of agreement and a receipt.

Adesanmi stated, “I have been living there for about 13 years. About 20 years ago, the Ogun State Government relocated people from a community called Oluwakemi in Magboro and acquired the land. The government demolished their buildings and gave them land at Ilupeju. I bought a plot from Mr Wale Adenugba and a half plot from Mr Tobi Bisiriyu.

“All of a sudden, some people came and said the government took away the Ilupeju land from their fathers. They came two weeks ago and claimed they had got a court judgment, which they didn’t show us. They destroyed the buildings in my compound. The police arrested two of them who claimed ownership of the land and they were charged.”

Solola in an interview with our correspondent on Friday absolved himself from the attack. He said he wanted to buy the land from one Sunday about two years ago and he paid N2m deposit. He added that he had requested Sunday to refund the money in the wake of the dispute surrounding the land.

“He (Odesanmi) only wants to spoil my name. I did not know anything about the attack,” he added.

Shortly after, one Oludotun Osho, who identified himself as a lawyer to Solola, contacted our correspondent on the telephone, describing Odesanmi as a judgment debtor to his client, Oyedele family.

He said, “There is a judgment of the High Court of Ogun State over that parcel of land against him as far back as 2016. He came to our office to negotiate and re-purchase the land from them, but he didn’t take any step. In 2018, my clients applied to court for an order of possession. We got an order of possession and in April 2019, the Sheriff of the high court executed that judgment.

“They (bailiffs) pursued him from the house and locked it up. He went back and broke the lock. We have filed a contempt proceeding against him and served him.”

The lawyer alleged that Odesanmi connived with the police and the Divisional Police Officer, Warewa, instructed his clients to desist from going to the property. He stated that the police filed a charge against his clients, adding that he had written a petition against the DPO.

When contacted on the telephone, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, promised to get back to our correspondent. He had yet to do so as of press time.

Ekiti state University students are currently staging a protest over the arrest of some of their colleagues by men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC.

EFCC officials stormed the school this morning to arrest some students who have been indicted in financial crimes.

In protest, the remaining students of the school, closed the school gates and have grounded academic and commercial activities on the campus and surrounding towns. They have mounted roadblocks on the highway and stopped commercial and private vehicles from moving.

Tekno is currently at the Lagos state police command where he is being questioned by the state police CID for dancing with half-naked ladies in a tranparent truck in the Lekki area of the state.

Recall that videos of the singer dancing in a truck with the naked girls sparked an outrage after it surfaced online.

In an exclusive chat today August 6th, the state police command spokesperson, Bala Elkana, said Tekno arrived their office for questioning this morning.

''Tekno has been invited by the State CID in respect of those strp dancers in the truck in a public place dancing naked. So he is invited for questionning. He is in our office at the moment'' Bala said

When asked if he will be charged to court, Bala said he does not know for now as the command is still investigating the matter.

The act of displaying nudity in public spaces contravenes Section 136 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 which provides that any person who commits any act of gross indecency with another person in public commits an offence and liable to a conviction to three years imprisonment.
