Tekno's name came up alot in the past couple of days during the Iyanya and Ubi Franklin's beef.

Though the singer has not made any official statement and has refused to grant any interview yet, he simply took to hus instagram page to say, 'my elders tripping'.

Justice Hakeem Oshodi of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, has convicted and sentenced a businesswoman, Doyin Adebowale Adekoya, to 6 months community service for a N20,547,900 fraud.

The convict was arraigned along with her company, D.D. Unique Multi-Concept, on February 7, 2017, on a 9-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing and obtaining money under false pretence to the tune of N20,547,900.

The National Commission for Refugees, Migrant and Internally Displaced Persons had awarded a contract to her for the supply of 101 tricycles. Following the supply of the items, she was paid a sum of N22,547,900 instead of N20,547,900.

She was afterwards, mistakenly paid another sum of N20,547,900 again for the same contract. Upon discovering the error, she was contacted by officials of the Commission to return the second payment.

However, all efforts to get a refund were rebuffed by her. Delivering judgment on Thursday, March 7, 2019, Justice Oshodi convicted her for stealing and sentenced her to six months community service at the Lagos State Rehabilitation Centre, Majido, Lagos.

The Judge further directed the EFCC to auction the two buses recovered from the convict at the current market value and transfer the proceeds to the Federal Government on behalf of the Commission.

Justice Oshodi further held that the EFCC was at liberty to trace and recover the defendant’s property towards realizing the sum of N20,547,900.

A 25-year-old boy, Tukur Aliyu, an indigene of Argungu local government of Kebbi State has commenced trekking from Birnin-Kebbi to Abuja, to celebrate the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the last presidential election.

Shortly before embarking on his journey yesterday March 6th, Aliyu told newsmen that he had vowed to trek for President Buhari and the APC if they win or lose the presidential election. He said

“I made a promise and a vow that if APC won the presidential election or even if it failed, I would trek from Birnin Kebbi to Abuja. I am doing it for my party the APC and I am doing it because of Buhari our president,” he said.

Aliyu who only carried a small bag containing one bowl of garri, some sugar, beans cake and a total cash of N1,500 as his basic requirement for the long trip, also said when he finally reaches Abuja, he would be glad if he could see President Buhari to congratulate him on his re-election.

A man has been mauled to death by a lion caged at his family home in the eastern Czech Republic.

Michal Prasek owned the 9-year-old big cat and another lioness for breeding. His father found his body in the lion's cage and told local media it had been locked from the inside.

The animals - living in separate pens - were shot dead by police called to the scene. A police spokesperson told local media that the shootings were "absolutely necessary for them to get to the man".

Prasek, 33, bought the lion in 2016 and the lioness last year, and kept them both in home-made enclosures in his back yard in the village of Zdechov.

He had previously been denied planning permission to build the pens, and was subsequently fined for illegal breeding. But his conflict with the authorities reached a stalemate after he refused to let anyone onto his property.

A lack of alternative facilities in the Czech Republic, or any evidence of animal cruelty, also meant the lions could not be forcibly removed.

A video has emerged of a heated confrontation between a mom and her daughter-in-law in the U.S.

According to the video filmed by the husband, the mom is complaining about the lack of adequate care from her son, Dimeji’s wife, Dayo. She also accused Dayo of preventing people from getting close to Dimeji.

However, in her defense, Dayo stated that she can’t be begging her mother-in-law with food, adding that it was her decision not to eat.

The woman went further to accuse Dayo of treating her shabbily because she doesn’t have someone like her. She vows that if God truly exists, her sons’ wives will also do same to her.

Dayo then fires back by calling her mother-in-law a witch with legs of misfortune. She also went further to threaten her with jail if she touches her. The video ended with the woman cursing Dayo and saying she’ll leave America empty handed.

The wife of the former governor of Cross River State, Onari Duke, on Monday, lost her bid to send the former Vice-Principal of the American International School, Lagos, Ebele Mbanugo, to prison for allegedly stealing $110,267.57 from her non-governmental organisation.

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja acquitted and discharged Mbanugo of the three counts of stealing and fraudulent conversion that were preferred against her.

The prosecutor, K. O. Sarumi, had accused Mbanugo of defrauding Onari’s NGO, the Child Survival and Development Organisation of Nigeria, of the fund between September 2009 and October 2011.

The prosecutor alleged that the defendant misappropriated the money raised for the purpose of purchasing mammogram machines for the detection of breast cancer.

The offences, according to Sarumi, contravene sections 265(7) and 278(1) (b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Mbanugo, however, during her testimony before the court, denied the allegations.

She said that in 2009, she had established an NGO called the Run for Cure Africa Breast Cancer Foundation to raise funds to purchase mammogram machines.

She said she got acquainted with Onari because she taught her daughter at the AISL and had approached the former Cross River first lady to use her influence to help with fundraising for the foundation.

Mbanugo added that various Run for Cure Africa fundraising races were held on the premises of the AISL from 2009 to 2011, with dignitaries such as Onari; wife of the former governor of Lagos, Abimbola Fashola; and various consul-generals in attendance.

The former AISL vice principal had told the court that Onari had received a cheque of N7.4m from the funds raised.

She added that three mammogram machines bought were donated to the Calabar Women and Children’s Hospital, Lagos University Teaching Hospital and a branch of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

She, however, noted that a dispute arose between her and Onari over the ownership of the initiative, leading to the criminal suit filed in court against her.

Delivering judgment on Monday, Justice Taiwo held that the prosecution failed to prove that Mbanugo stole the money.

She noted that the criminal suit stemmed from a “serious and disruptive rivalry” between the defendant and Onari on the ownership of the fundraising initiative.

Justice Taiwo said, “The prosecution failed to prove that the money misappropriated belonged to Mrs Duke. Mrs Duke was not called to testify in this case.

“The testimony of the defendant showed how three mammogram machines were bought from General Electric for $133,000, which is a sum higher than the sum allegedly misappropriated by the defendant.

“The prosecution failed to prove the source of the funds or that the defendant fraudulently converted them to her own use.

“The defendant had shown various brochures, pictures and documents highlighting her passion for fighting breast cancer as her mother and two aunts were diagnosed with the disease and she had said how early detection saved her mother.

“It is unfortunate that such a laudable initiative could be marred by conflict between Mrs Duke and the defendant over the ownership of the foundation. The defendant is hereby acquited and discharged.”

Upon hearing the court’s verdict, a visibly shaken Mbanugo burst into tears while thanking God.

The Deputy Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Godiya Akwashiki, has been beaten and stripped naked by suspected hoodlums.

In a viral video, Akwashiki, who emerged senator-elect for the Nasarawa North Senatorial District, was seen tied with a rope by the gang.

There was blood in his mouth as he protested weakly while his assailants pummelled him.

It was learnt that the lawmaker was beaten at a private residence in the Maitama area of Abuja.

He was alleged to have attempted sleeping with the wife of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Danladi Envuluanza.

The lawmaker, who currently represents Eggon West in the state House of Assembly, however, denied trying to sleep with any politician’s wife, adding that he was stripped at gunpoint.

He also claimed that he was tricked to the venue of the incident, where he was beaten by the hoodlums.

The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory, Bala Ciroma, said the matter was under investigation.
