Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) have killed a shop owner in Ijegun area of Lagos.

Biliki was hit by a bullet on Saturday after the policemen fired at a suspect who was on the run.

Igbere TV gathers that the shop owner was hit while in her store which is on a street close to the Oba’s palace.

One of the SARS operatives was immediately mobbed by irate residents.

Biliki was said to have died in a hospital.

Lagos police spokesman, Bala Elkana, has not made a statement on the incident.

Jeffrey Epstein, the financier indicted on sex trafficking charges last month, committed suicide at a Manhattan jail, on Friday.

Epstein hanged himself and his body was found this morning at Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan at roughly 7:30.

Manhattan federal prosecutors last month charged Epstein, 66, with sex trafficking of girls as young as 14, and details of his behavior have been emerging for years.

The financier with opulent homes, a private jet and access to elite circles, had been dogged for decades by accusations that he had paid dozens of girls for sexual acts in Florida.

The one-time friend of Bill Clinton and Donald Trump faced a maximum sentence of 45 years in prison.

Anthony Joshua's rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr has been confirmed to take place on Saturday, December 7, 2019, in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.

The official announcement was made on Friday, August 9, 2019, with the fight tagged: 'Clash on the Dunes.'

Joshua will be looking to regain his IBF, WBA and WBO titles after losing them in a shock defeat to Ruiz Jr back in June at Madison Square Garden. The Mexican boxer defeated Joshua in the seventh-round to hand British/Nigerian boxer his first professional loss.

For the rematch, Saudi Arabian sports authorities are said to be putting up almost $100million (£83million) for the match to be held there. In the UK, the fight will be shown on Sky Box Office.

A dismissed soldier, Lance Corporal Khalid Mohammed, has been arrested by men of Kaduna state Police Command for Armed robbery.

The suspect, who was paraded before the media along side 78 others by Kaduna state Commisioner of police, Ali Aji Janga in Rijana on Wednesday, said he was dismissed from the Army because he shot his then Guard Commander.

The father of two said he was arrested after robbing an apartment on Upper Volta road, Malali, Kaduna.

He disclosed that he has been into armed robbery since 2006 before the long hand of the law caught up with him.

The suspect, who is a resident of Malali in Kaduna North said, he regretted his actions and promised to turn a new leaf.

He however said he will accept any punishment melted out to him for his criminal actions because he deserves it.

A 25-year-old Nigerian immigrant has died after drowning during a boat cruise with his friends in in Montreal, QC, Canada.

Uchenna Stanley Nnaji has just been granted asylum in Canada, about two weeks earlier. He drowned Saturday in Lac des Sables in the Laurentian community of Ste-Agathe-des-Monts. .

He was with a group of friends near Ste-Lucie beach, about 100 kilometres northwest of Montreal, when he jumped off a boat into the water to swim at about 11:50 a.m. — and did not resurface. .

His body was recovered Sunday morning at about 10 a.m. by SQ divers. Firefighters and the SQ nautical team, which included divers, had patrolled the area on Saturday until dusk and the SQ resumed its search on Sunday at about 8 a.m.

A 14-year-old school pupil, Sinazo Kleinbooi was brutally murdered in Kwamanube Street in NU6, Motherwell, South Africa last Tuesday.

The body of the girl still dressed in school uniform was found lying in the street with a single bullet wound to her head.

According to reports, two thugs came up behind the girl and calmly shot her in the back of the head as she walked home from school. The only thing taken was her new smartphone.

The shooting happened few minutes after Sinazo had been dropped off by a taxi after school and was walking the rest of the way home.

Sinazo, who would have turned 15 on Friday August 9, attended the HH Academy in Sydenham.

While the details are still sketchy, police have not ruled out a targeted hit.

Police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge confirmed that Sinazo’s cellphone was stolen and police were investigating whether it had been a targeted hit or a robbery gone wrong.

"The callous murder of children not only shocks our communities, but even hardened police members who serves those communities," said Motherwell Cluster Commander, Major General Dawie Rabie.

The Provincial Commissioner of the Eastern Cape, Lt General Liziwe Ntshinga expressed her condolences to the close family and friends of the victim and added that "We (SAPS) will not leave any stone unturned in bringing this killer(s) to book.”

Sinazo’s parents, Madoda, 43, and Bongi, 41, had been called by a neighbour shortly after the shooting and urged to come home urgently.

When they arrived and heard the shattering news, they rushed to the scene in Kwa Manube Street in NU6 and were met by the heartbreaking sight of their daughter’s body, clad in her school uniform, still lying where she had been shot.

“We had just arrived at a church elder’s house in NU12 when my wife got the call [at about 5pm] to come home,” a visibly traumatised Madoda said on Wednesday.

“We were not told what had happened but just urged to come home quickly. I started the car to rush home, when we got two more phone calls saying that we must get home. Obviously, we started to panic and wanted to know what was happening. As we arrived, the police came to meet us. That is when we heard what happened. I could not believe it. I still can’t believe this. “She is gone,” Madoda said, holding his head in his hands and crying.

"She was my innocent girl ... I still can’t believe this,” said the distraught mother of grade 9 pupil.

According to residents, children playing in the street less than 20m from the site of the shooting fled in terror when the gunshot rang out.

One resident said that two men were seen running away afterwards.

Speaking from their Kwa Goco Street house, Bongi said they were battling to make sense of the killing.

“It was like a normal day. She always walks home after being dropped off by the taxi and it is usually safe. She used to walk another route home but I told her that because it was not safe, she needed to go this way. It is a busier and more visible road, not between the houses,” she said, sobbing.

"Her cellphone was taken and I think that is what they wanted. Why else would they want to kill her?”

Sinazo recently got a Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone, and was in the process of swapping it with her father.

“I told them that they have to swap phones because she would be targeted for it. I was opposed to her having such a fancy phone and we agreed that she would take his cellphone.”

Sinazo’s uncle, Bundu Mahini, 49, who was at the house, said he was too emotional to talk.

“We are all just so shocked. “It is unreal and we are all struggling to come to terms with this,” he said.

A Brazilian gang leader, Clauvino da Silva, also known as "Shorty," has been caught trying to escape from prison by dressing up as his daughter, who was visiting him that day.

Shorty was found out when he displayed nervousness while trying to leave the penitentiary in Rio de Janeiro.

Silva's plan was to leave his 19-year-old daughter in the jail. Her possible role in the failed escape is being looked into by police investigators.

The reputed crime boss was part of the leadership of the Red Command, one of the country's most powerful criminal groups that controlled drug trafficking in a large part of Rio.

Clarion Chukwurah finally got a chance to work with her son, ace music video director Clarence Peters, and the excited mum couldn't hold back her excitement as she took to Instagram to recount the experience.

According to the veteran actress, the project she worked on with her son is that of Yemi Alade. Relishing the experience, Clarion Chukwurah stated that it was wonderful seeing the immense talent God imbued in the younger generation of Nigerians.

A yet-to-be identified lady was found dead underneath a hotel bed in Owerri the capital of Imo State.

Eyewitnesses claimed the incident occurred last weekend at a popular hotel along World Bank Road in Owerri, and a cleaner reportedly found the corpse. It was further learnt that identifying the girl has been quite difficult, as the killer who is also yet to be identified fled with her belongings including her clothes and underwear.

The Imo State Police Command are reportedly investigating the incident suspected to be a case of ritual killing. Here are photos taken from the scene of the incident below;

A 10-year-old orphan was dumped at a hospital in Benue state while experiencing labour pains and the child has now given birth after having to undergo Caesarean section due to the small size of her pelvis.

According to Chigozie Effe who shared the news on Facebook, the child named Masenengen Targba was dumped at General Hospital Markurdi located at Northbank by an unknown person in the early hours of Sunday, August 4, 2019.

She was in so much pain as it was time to have her baby, but surgery needed to be carried out and she could not afford it.

Upon interrogation, it was discovered that she is an orphan from Tiv in Benue state, but has been living in an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp located in Benue State. It is in the camp that she was raped and impregnated.

Eventually, a Good Samaritan named Mr Ukan took her to Foundation Memorial Hospital, Makurdi, Benue State, where Dr Ijoko and Dr Yima carried out an operation to deliver her of her daughter in the early hours of today, August 5.

The identity of the man who got the child pregnant is still unknown but it was gathered that Masenengen was raped multiple times before she took in.
