It was eventful day of sataurday November 1, as the yearly ancient Iria festival was held Okrika, River State. About nineteen virgins were given certificates by the community elders whichgrants the ladies freedom to bring their suitors for marriage.

As other tribes in Nigeria have their annual festivals, people of okrika have their annual initiation ceremony of virgins into womanhood which is held at the final quarter of the year.
The ceremony is aimed at welcoming young virgins who just clocked 18 years and above into womanhood.
The traditional ceremony is called "Iria" in Okrika.

.A female suicide bomber has killed herself and partner in Borno state. The suicide bombers are suspected to be of the Boko Haram group.

Two Suicide Bombers (Male and Female) on a mission to infiltrate Muna Garage Maiduguri, Borno State, hurriedly detonated one of their suicide vests on sighting troops of 195 Battalion on patrol at about 8 P.M on 1 December 2018.

The patrol team quickly moved to the scene and discovered it was only the female suicide bombers’ vest that was detonated, killing herself and the male suicide bomber.

Five members of Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) on duty at the market were injured in the explosion.

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has revealed part of his plans on how he intends to defeat Boko Haram, if elected into office.

According to the former Vice President, since terrorists are themselves human beings, and recruit their members from the local populace, he would make it tough for them to replenish their ranks by working for and with local communities.

He, however, stressed that for whatever anti-terror plan to work, it must have the buy-in of the people “because terror can only thrive where there is local support.

Take that local support structure away and the terror architecture will collapse like a pack of cards.

“Terrorists are themselves human beings. Terror groups depend on recruiting from the local communities to replenish their ranks or they cannot grow. The members of Boko Haram are not spirits and while there definitely is some foreign influence, the overwhelming number of their leadership and followers are members of the local population.”

The former Vice President said that central to his team’s plans “for defeating terror therefore must be to find out why young men in those communities are aggrieved enough to be alienated from Nigeria and attracted to the radical philosophy of Boko Haram and ISWAP.

When we find out, we must prevent this alienation from occurring.”

Atiku, who established a nexus between the distribution of wealth and the alienation effect said:

“within Nigeria, the heartland of the terror insurgency is the Northeast, with Borno and Yobe states being the hardest hit. Surely, it cannot be a coincidence that the Northeast is also the most economically backward part of Nigeria with Borno and Yobe states worst affected.”

The PDP flag bearer regretted that when the leadership of a nation fails to provide positive avenues for the young to assert their intelligence positively, they will always find other ways to deploy or express their innate abilities negatively.

“To defeat terrorism therefore, we need to arm our military and motivate them with good working conditions and terms of services, especially for the
lower ranks, who face the greatest risks and are the least paid. We need to demonstrate that when you fight for Nigeria, Nigeria will fight for you, but even more importantly, we must show that when you die in the services of Nigeria, your name and your survivors will be celebrated by the society that you died for.

“We must also help our military win the hearts and minds of the people of the Northeast by empowering them to open soup kitchens where they give food
to the hungry. We must encourage them to set up field hospitals where they treat the local population free of charge. Even something as giving each soldier a pocketful of sweets to handout to little children on the streets will help the military win the love and affection of the local population and turn their allegiance to our armed forces,” Atiku submitted.

Yesterday December 1st was celebrated as World’s AIDS day and a man has taken to his Facebook page to voice out his opinion on the dreaded disease.

The man identified as Nwankwo Ogechi Peter believes once you test positive for HIV, that is the end for you.

He further stated, in his post, that the best remedy is to remain faithful to a partner and it is not even guaranteed that condoms can even stop one from contracting the disease.

Today is world HIV & aids day, many are saying have a test and know your status and live happily that testing positive for HIV & aids is not the end of the world, but I said it is the end of the world because you can never think rightly again, every of your thoughts will be towards there all time.

No matter how hard counselors tried to advice you once you are positive to HIV you are positive and your health condition can never be the same again and only thing that will be coming to your mind is dead, that is the simple truth, putting on condom moving from different people and claim you are protected that you play safe is a big lie.

The best advice anyone can give you is to be faithful with the person you are sexing with, either your date or your wife/ husband and make sure that your partner is faithful to you too, i know is difficult to say stop sex, because is not even 1% possible but being faithful to your relationship is 100% safe for the both partners that remains faithfully to themselves.

Don’t be deceived with condom because is not 60% safe. don’t say you are not keeping much friends, is not about the quantity of friends you keep, you can keep millions of friends and be faithful to that one person whenever it comes to sex and be 100% safe, but keeping 2 or 3 friends and sexing with them claiming you are safe, is a big lie, you are not safe even 1%, you are not my dear, my own advice to you all out there is to be faithful and make sure your partner is faithful to you too and be 100% safe.

Woman is arrested again for beating up her boyfriend because he won't have sex with her

A woman was arrested for the second time after beating up her boyfriend because he refused to have sex with her

Rebecca Lynn Phelps, 31, was arrested by police near Tampa for allegedly attacking her boyfriend as he slept. Police accuse her of "grabbing her boyfriend’s genitals [while] wanting to have sex" on Thanksgiving night.

Phelps shares a home with the victim, who is unnamed, and their child in Land O'Lakes, Florida.

Police say that her boyfriend was sleeping when Phelps walked into the bedroom drunk and indicated she wanted to have sex. She allegedly grabbed his genitals but he said no and went back to sleep. She then left the room, only to come back and start "tapping" his leg, police said.

Investigators said:

The victim pretended to be asleep to ignore the defendant who is intoxicated.

Phelps immediately became angry and "scratched the victim on his left eye causing it to swell and turn black and blue," according to the arrest report.

When police arrived, Phelps denied touching her boyfriend. She was booked on misdemeanor domestic battery charges. She was released on Sunday morning after she posted $100 bond. She has been ordered by a judge not to have any contact with the victim.

This is the second time in the last 14 months that Phelps has been arrested for allegedly beating up a man who did not want to have sex with her.

In September 2017, Phelps was arrested after she "smacked [a man] so hard on the right side of his face it left redness."

The man did not want to have sexual relations with Phelps, who got angry in response, according to police. She then attacked the man, scratching him with her right hand and causing his skin to break and the victim to bleed.

Modupe-Oreoluwa Oyeyemi, Nigerian artiste better known as Mo’Cheddah, says that she once battled depression to the point of considering jumping off Third Mainland Bridge.

The 28-year-old fashion designer said older colleagues in the industry hated her when she got into the industry.

“I was coming from a naive, God-fearing family and I went into the world of adults and I was thrown into a jungle and people did not care if I was 16, they attacked me,” she said in an interview with DANG Network.

“The industry was hostile. I would be performing and they would turn off my microphone because the A-list artist doesn’t like me. There was one day I looked at my Mum and told her ‘you taught me everything about love but you did not teach me to hate’.

“I don’t know why she did not, but the truth is there is hate in the world, so I went into the industry thinking everybody loved everybody. I didn’t understand that hate.”

Explaining her abrupt exit from the music scene, Mo Cheddah said people did not understand her side of the story when she left Knighthouse records.

“The day I won the Channel O award, that was around when Twitter came out and people I knew started dragging me online. People started asking why I won the award, people starting questioning me and carrying stories around me,” she said.

“What broke me was that when I left my label. People chose to pick sides and obviously it wasn’t mine. I felt as if I had failed, especially because I had thought that business will pick up. They had so much hate for me.

“They started bad-mouthing me to people, to companies, to producers, so I was kind of blacklisted. They wanted to do everything in their power to ruin me and I felt God forsook me, sadness consumed me

“I googled ‘there is this darkness inside me’ and I saw a lot of people had it, they were talking about depression. The only reason I did not kill myself, first, I didn’t know how I will kill myself. I thought about it so many times.

“I thought of drowning myself in third Mainland bridge, at times I wanted it to be quick, so I will be praying that God should just kill me. All I had to do was understand that as long as I was at peace with this person, every other thing will be OK. I live to be happy.”

NAN reports that she left the record label in February 2012 due to irreconcilable differences and founded her own label.

Mo’Cheddah broke into the music scene at 16 years with a feature on ‘Won Beri’ and had to take a break from the industry in 2015.

She currently runs a fashion house called Mo Cheddah.co and counsels young girls through her brand.
