Celebrities / I Go Save Calls Out Gov. Obaseki Over Illegal Use Of His Image Rights by GistersNG: 8:28pm On Nov 10, 2018
Nigerian comedian, I Go Save, has called out Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State over illegal use of his image rights for an event in the state today.

I Go Save who described usage of his image for an event he was not hired for as an ill-calculated move, also added that such illegality leaves him with loss because other show promoters will think he has been hired.

He wrote as he shared his video;

This is a call to other for Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. M. Luther King Jr.

This is coming after the comedian revealed how he delved into comedy. He said;

We were doing mock news around 1992/1993; I Go Die and I on Delta TV Top Show every Saturday. It was a very popular show back then which metamorphosed into standup comedy. When standup comedy became the new wave, we also had to go along with it. So we went our separate ways and began doing standup comedy.

Romance / Former Prostitute Reveals How She Had Sex Romp With Police Officers - Photos by GistersNG: 5:51pm On Nov 10, 2018
A former prostitute Gabi Grecko, testified Thursday in court about her mile-high sex romp with NYPD officers as part of a police corruption trial.

Grecko, who previously revealed to the New York Post how she was used to bribe the policemen in a wild, sex-filled private plane trip to Las Vegas in February 2013, sported chestnut hair, a salmon pink and red jacket, skirt, red heels and a plaid scarf for her appearance at Manhattan Federal Court.

The 29-year-old said she had been recruited for the getaway by Brooklyn businessman and Bill de Blasio campaign donor, Jeremy Reichberg.

In court Thursday, Grecko said Reichberg invited her to give sexual favors to ‘anyone who asked’.

When asked if she had a sexual relationship with former deputy inspector James Grant on the trip, she replied: ‘Yes’ and that the two shared a room at the hotel. She added that none of the men ‘wanted to be in any pictures’ and said it was ‘very clear throughout the whole weekend.’

Grecko said she was compensated $1,500 for her services, which she described as ‘too little’.

Grant denied the two had sex, but admitted he paid her for the trip, according to the Post.

She said Grant, who drove her home when they returned back to New York, told her in response: ‘If our team had done better we would have been able to give you more.’

He was charged in 2016 for allegedly accepting prostitutes bought by businessmen, as well as jewelry and gifts, in exchange for police protection.

The prostitute, who went by the alias Candi on the trip, said she serviced Grant and his businessman friend, Jona Rechnitz.

Sports / Leicester Fans March In Honour Of Late Thai Owner - Photo by GistersNG: 4:08pm On Nov 10, 2018
Leicester City fans marched in their thousands towards the King Power Stadium on Saturday, kicking off a series of emotional tributes to late owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha two weeks after he was killed in a helicopter crash.

Supporters braved the pouring rain as they made their way through the streets towards the ground for the first home match since the tragedy holding Leicester flags and wearing club shirts, some with “Vichai” on the back.

There was a subdued atmosphere but pockets of chanting, including “We love you Leicester, we do”, “I’m Leicester till I die” and simply “Vichai”.

Under Vichai’s ownership, Leicester produced one of the biggest upsets in English football history by winning the 2015/16 Premier League, having started the season as 5,000-1 outsiders for the title.

Saturday’s walk was called the 5,000-1 walk in recognition of that astonishing achievement.

Dammy Krane has revealed what he learnt during his time in prison. The singer was last year docked in Canada over credit card fraud allegations.

Though many may have since forgotten about the credit card fraud allegation leveled against him, in Canada last year, the memories of the experience are still fresh in his mind. Speaking with Showtime, Dammy Krane said;

“I learnt three very important things after that experience; to appreciate God, family and my fans. Meanwhile there are a lot of friends turned family”, he said.

He added that on his return to Nigeria after being certified innocent of the crime by the Canadian court of Law, instead of dwelling on negative comments from family members, industry colleagues, friends and fans, he focused more on the positive comments.

“I have something I always do when it comes to social media; I concentrate more on the positive comments than the negative ones. That someone has taken out his time to write something nice is something to appreciate”, he said.

Crime / Man Stabs Friend Over N400 by GistersNG: 4:38am On Nov 05, 2018
The police have arrested a 25-year-old man, Morenikeji Oguntoyinbo, for allegedly stabbing his friend, Emmanuel Ibeh, in the neck with a broken bottle during a scuffle in their residence on Benson bus stop, Ikorodu, Lagos.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the incident happened when Ibeh requested for his N400, which he gave to Oguntoyinbo to keep for him and after about an hour, Oguntoyinbo allegedly said he had used the money to place a bet on a sports betting app but was not lucky to win.

It was gathered that the victim was annoyed that he used his money to play Nairabet and he allegedly gave Ibeh a fist blow, which got Oguntoyinbo angered as he went downstairs, took a bottle and stabbed the victim in his neck.

The police prosecutor, Sergeant Mary Ajiteru, informed the Candide Johnson Magistrates’ Court, Ikorodu, where Oguntoyinbo was arraigned on two counts, that the injury was so severe and the victim had been taken to three general hospitals in Lagos, including the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, which referred him to the University College Hospital in Ibadan, Oyo State, adding that the chances of his survival were low because Ibeh was presently in a state of comma.

The charges read, “That you, Morenikeji Oguntoyinbo, on October 26, 2018, around 4pm at number 16, Benson Bus-stop, Ikorodu, in the Ikorodu Lagos Magisterial District did unlawfully stabbed one Emmanuel Ibeh on his neck with a broken bottle, with the intention to kill him and endanger his life, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 230 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.

“That you, Morenikeji Oguntoyinbo, on the same date, time and place at the aforementioned magisterial district, did unlawfully stabbed one Emmanuel Ibeh with a broken bottle on his neck and cause him grievous harm and thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.”

Oguntoyinbo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The presiding magistrate, Mr W. B. Balogun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties, one of whom must be a close relation and one should be a civil servant and they must have proper means of identification in addition to producing evidence of six years’ tax payment.

The case was adjourned till December 13, 2018.

Crime / I Beheaded Motorcyclist For Refusing To Surrender His Machine – Suspect by GistersNG: 4:27am On Nov 05, 2018
Operatives of the Niger State Police Command have arrested one Dauda Yakubu of Girinya village in the Konton-Karfe Local Government Area of Kogi State for allegedly beheading one Emmanuel Sunday.

Yakubu was alleged to have subsequently made away with his victim’s motorcycle.

It was learnt that the elder brother to the deceased, Amos Sunday, reported to the police that his brother did not return home from work.

Northern City News gathered that police operatives attached to Lapai Division intercepted the suspect at Kagbodu village in Lapai Local Government Area in possession of the deceased’s motorcycle.

It was also learnt that the suspect during investigation confessed to have conspired with one Mohammed Yunusa, now at large, to attack the victim.

Yakubu told our correspondent that he would not have killed Sunday if he had handed over his motorcycle to him without a struggle.

“He refused to hand over his motorcycle to me; so, I got angry and we beheaded him and zoomed off with the motorcycle.

“I don’t know what came over me; we are from the same state (Kogi) but we reside in Niger State. How do I explain myself to my kinsmen?”

Asked if he wanted to use the victim’s head for rituals, Yakubu said, “I couldn’t have used my kinsman’s head for rituals; our culture forbids it; it was the devil that pushed me into killing him.”

The Public Relations Officer for the Niger State Police Command, Muhammad Abubakar, confirmed the incident on Sunday, adding that detectives had recovered Sunday’s body and his motorcycle.

He explained that the police were on the trail of the fleeing Yunusa, noting that the case would be charged to court after investigation.

Celebrities / I Used To Be A Chronic Stammerer - IK Ogbonna by GistersNG: 3:11am On Nov 04, 2018
Popular actor, IK Ogbonna, speaks with JOY MARCUS about his career, marriage and other issues

When did you realise that you had an interest in acting?

At some point in my life, I knew I wanted to be in the spotlight, impacting lives and doing something positive. It was not about becoming a celebrity really, I just wanted to be able to affect lives on a wider scale. In 2005, I attended auditions for the Amstel Malta Box Office television show in Abuja. I decided to try it out, not knowing if I could act or not. I went to Abuja for the audition and I was picked. So, I came for the other auditions in Lagos and that was what necessitated my coming to Lagos. I thought it would be an automatic entry for me into the industry but it was not. So, I focused on the modelling aspect of my life because I had been a model for many years.

How was your journey into the movie industry?

I met Elvis Chucks who gave me the opportunity to present two shows on TV, Amstel Malta Legend and Musical Vibes. He always knew I had something in me that I wasn’t exploring. He cast me in a few of his TV series such as Secrets and Scandals for two seasons. At that time, I was doing it because it was an opportunity to do something and not because it was what I wanted to do. I was more focused on my modelling career. Then, in 2013, I met actress, Rukky Sanda, at a club, and she decided to feature me in the movie she was producing at the time. When I got on set, I developed a cold feet; I gave an excuse to run away but she still called me for another movie she produced. My output in the movie wasn’t really good because I had cold feet. My confidence level was very low but I did what I could do. I acted as a model which increased my fan base. After that movie, I got another one and that was how my career kicked off.

What movie brought you to stardom?

I cannot really say because so many people love me for the different movies I have featured in. I can’t point to a particular movie that gave me fame. I believe people love me for my roles and personality because you can relate with me as an actor or as a person who is full of mysteries. I think I got a lot of female fans from the first movie I did which was Lovelorn, produced by Rukky Sanda, even if my acting was not as good (as it should have been). I was always taking off my shirts in the movie. I focused on my appearance in that movie and all the girls that like fine boys liked that one.

What are the challenges you faced starting up?

I was a very chronic stammerer; I had to hit my foot on the floor before I could complete a sentence. I worked on it so much that you can hardly tell now when I talk and I thank my father for that. It affected my confidence level and how I related with people. Back then, when I saw people around, I kept quiet because I didn’t want to embarrass myself. At the time I started presenting on TV, I had worked on myself so well that people couldn’t tell if I was a stammerer or not. However, there are still days it comes and I find it difficult to control myself. But some directors that know me well just give me a few minutes to calm down.

How much were you paid for your first movie?

I was paid N50,000 and the title of the movie is Lovelorn by Rukky Sanda. I won’t say how much I charge now but I am well paid as an actor.

What are some of the challenges you face in the movie industry?

Funding is one of the major challenges we face in the industry, coupled with the chain of distribution houses. I think that the structures should be reformed. There should be some kind of sensitisation in the industry because most actors are not well paid. Very few of us are actually well paid but most of the actors are underpaid because when producers invest their money in projects, they don’t get it back. Sometimes, if your movie is not going to the cinema, it will rather go to an online platform where you either sell exclusively to them or the TV houses. There are limited platforms to distribute movies which affects the budget of a movie because if you go all the way out to produce, you may be shooting yourself in the foot. That is why some producers have one big name in their movies and a few other up and coming actors. Or he can decide to have all the big names in his movie because he will be going to the cinema. I also thank Nigerians because they are beginning to support Nollywood. When you go to the cinemas, you see people watching more Nigerian movies than foreign movies. The industry has really grown because the quality of movies produced then is totally different from what we have now. We just need to have more community houses and cinemas.

What are some of your aspirations?

I take each day as it comes. I have a big picture of what I want for myself and my family. I want to live a fulfilled life and build people as well. I want to create platforms where I can make more millionaires. I can’t sit back and say it is the responsibility of the government because if the government is failing, we, as individuals, should not do the same. As a producer, I want to be able to make movies that will compete with international movies and as an actor, I want to be able to work alongside people such as Denzel Washington and Brad Pitt, who are great actors and businessmen.

How do you achieve work-life balance?

It is really difficult to balance a career that is flourishing. You have to be out there because if you take a break, it will affect you. You have to keep working; yet, you have a family that needs you. Most successful people have their families suffer for their career and I must give credit to my wife because it has not been easy. Sometimes, you might be on the road all day. Right now, I am in a hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, because I got off set by 2am and I can’t drive back to my home in Victoria Island. If my wife was in town, she would be at home while I would be in a hotel. I also have to travel back to Enugu to film and after that, I will move to Paris; then, Malaysia. As a celebrity, your life is basically on the road. Sometimes you just have to say no to a N2m job so that you can give that one week to your family. It is a constant hustle but thank God for those spouses that understand.

Having married a foreigner, did your family oppose your marriage?

Nobody has a say in my life. I live my life for me and my immediate family, which consists of my wife and son. That is what matters. I respect my family but ultimately my happiness lies with me.

Is there really crisis in your marriage?

Well, I don’t want to talk about what some of these blogs are saying. If they are good journalists, they should investigate things before bringing it out to the world. They just post things because they want traffic to their blogs. If my wife and I are divorced, people will know because we won’t be single and acting married when other hot singles are out there looking for attractive spouses. I am still married to my wife and that is what matters for now. Every relationship, whether it is marriage or courtship, experiences good and bad times; so, mine is not devoid of that. I love my wife and she loves me too; so, we will definitely have our good and bad times. What is important is the love we have for each other.

How do you feel when people tongue lash her for dressing in certain ways?

I feel that nobody has the right to insult another person irrespective of how they dress. Even if it is out there in the public eyes, it doesn’t give anyone the right to talk or insult her. She dresses appropriately for every single event. If you feel comfortable wearing agbada in a pool or beach, then that is your business. Even when she is going to the club, she doesn’t dress provocatively; she dresses appropriately and I am not bothered. I love who she is and I definitely love her dress sense. Other people’s opinions don’t matter.

Where did you school?

I studied Sociology at the University of Jos. Then I came to Lagos to chase my dreams. I am not really an office person. I don’t think I can do a 9 – 5 job. I just feel that the whole schooling think was to fulfil all righteousness.
