Nigerian troops and police battled on Tuesday as cruel Shiites Muslim protesters created another march in the capital Abuja, despite Monday’s casualties. According to witnesses, the air was bombarded with teargas as militants and police officers made arrests after the Shi’ite group. Gunshots could also be heard during the incident. The Shiites moved in protest against the continued arrest of its leader, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky and his wife Zeenat. They have been in detention since December 2015, following a dispute between El-Zakzaky members and the army in Zaria. The latest webometrics ranking of Universities in the world, covering about five thousand institutions, has rated the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, as one thousand seven hundred and eighty eight (1788) globally. Apart from coming seventh in the country, LAUTECH maintained its position as the best state University and second in the technological category. The July 2019 ranking revealed that the institution jointly owned by Osun and Oyo States, is behind University of Nigeria, University of Ibadan, University of Ilorin, Covenant University, Otta, and University of Lagos as well as the Federal University of Technology, Akure. Reacting to the development, the Institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Michael Olufisayo Ologunde, said it was not time to celebrate the renewed determination of his administration to take LAUTECH to the height of its glory. “We are glad that results are beginning to come, but that is not where we aim to be. Our strategic plan is to upstage those that are naturally seen as winners. “I believe that we shall surmount our challenges and create new records in no distant future. That is our focus”. Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested one Wasiu Oyewole for conniving with two others to scoop fuel after allegedly vandalising a Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation’s NNPC pipeline in the Owutu area of Agric, Ikorodu. The Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, said in a statement on Sunday that Oyewole and his accomplices, who are still at large, were intercepted by the anti-crime operatives of the command at the Canoe area of Ejigbo, on Thursday, March 28, 2019. Elkana stated that the suspects took to their heels when they spotted the policemen on patrol, adding that Oyewole was arrested after the cops gave them a hot chase. He said, “On Thursday, March 28, 2019, around 12.30pm, while on anti-crime monitoring of the Canoe area of Ejigbo, the police operatives, led by Sergeant Sunday Joseph, suspected a Fiat bus with two contrasting colours, the Lagos commercial colour at the front, while the rest is painted in blue. On sighting the policemen, the three occupants of the bus jumped down and fled in different directions. “The policemen pursued them and caught up with one of them, Wasiu Oyewole, of No 3 Oluseyi Street, Agodo Egbe, Lagos, while the remaining two jumped into the canal and escaped. The suspect confessed that he and his cohorts loaded the bus, with number plate LND 825 BC, with multiple sacks laden with PMS or petrol. “He claimed further that the NNPC pipeline was vandalised in the Owutu area of Agric in Ikorodu, where the product was loaded, while their intended sales point was Ijegun. Efforts are being made to track down the other accomplices, who jumped off the vehicle on sighting the police. Meanwhile, the NNPC officials have been contacted to decant the product.” Source: https://www.gistkit.com/naija-news/man-nabbed-for-transporting-fuel-from-vandalised-nnpc-pipeline/

Tunde Ladipo, the Controller of Prisons, Lagos Command says 24 inmates of the Ikoyi Prisons will participate in the forthcoming 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination scheduled to hold in April. The Board had also said that no fewer than 1.8 million candidates had registered for the all Computer Based Test under the UTME. According to Ladipo, preparations have been concluded by the Board to ensure a hitch-free examination for the inmates in its facility. He noted that the inmates who had been undergoing intensive coaching at the facility’s school had demonstrated a great zeal and a high level of commitment in readiness for the examination adding that with the current state of facilities in the prisons’ school, he was expecting nothing but excellent performance from the inmates. “I want to say that we are very prepared and ready for this examination. A lot of work has already been done as part of our efforts to ensure that these inmates are well tutored and exposed to the use of ICT for the coming examination. “We have prepared them on how to use the computer during the examination as it is on this mode that all the candidates will be tested. “Thankfully, the organisers of this UTME have assisted the facility with 60 computers and other accessories. Ever since this supply was made, we have been using them to train these inmates at the prisons’ school and their responses have been amazing. “We expect that they will all come out in flying colours, as, apart from the computers, we can also boast of a well stocked library, coupled with teachers who have been coming to take them on various subjects,” Ladipo said. The gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Engr. Seyi Makinde was reported to be in Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH Ogbomoso yesterday March 06, 2019 where he was able to state his manifestos to the general populace of the institution at large. It was reported that the students of the great citadel came out to hear from the aspiring governor ahead of the gubernatorial election which will be held on Saturday March 9, 2019. The students and the Student Union Government Body of the institution showed their love and support for Engineer Seyi Makinde. In lieu of this, the School management has reacted to this by releasing a notification to the students and staffs of the institution hereby banning of Political Activity/Rally On Campus. The Management wrote; This is to inform all members of staff and students that no political rally or activity is allowed on the University campus. Any staff member or student found to be involved in political activity on campus will be sanctioned accordingly. Thank you. Drama In LAUTECH As Engr. Seyi Makinde Visit Institution Also, it has been brought to our notice that some Student Union Executives was suspended by the Student Union Government Legislative Arms (Senate) for endorsing and declaring their support for the Gubernatorial Candidate during his visit on campus while addressing the students. The suspended executives are; The President – ABIODUN OLUWASEUN (LAUREL) The PRO – ADEYEMI EMMANUEL (PARROT) The General Secretary – Comrade. JUWON Drama In LAUTECH As Engr. https://www.gistkit.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Lautech-gistkit.jpeg Disclaimer: This Open letter is written by Issa Farouq. I bring solidarity greetings to all Ladokites in the interest of peace and unity. The above subject matter is so important not only to the student populace but the University and Ogbomoso Community at Large. As a state man in student unionism, I unapologetically declare the senate sitting held at 250 LT between the hours of 4.30pm -5.30pm on the 6th of March 2019 , illegal and unconstitutional. The reasons for my conclusion goes thus… 1) That before a senate sitting can hold in Lautech (obeying our dear constitution) there must be an official notification to the to the Senators representing each departments and the student populace at large and duly copying the office of the Dean students Affairs the security unit and the central executive council, at least 48hrs before the commencement of the sitting. 2) That the premise in which the executives were suspended is partial as all the central executive members except the Student union PRO (Parrot) were at the spot where Engr. Seyi Makinde was addressing the students So why suspend only three, and more comically, a one who wasn’t even anywhere near the scene of the event; the PRO?? It is rather laughable.3)That the memo from the management that the Senate President claimed to have acted upon came in after the said gubernatorial candidate has left the University Community. 4) That the Vice President of the Union, who is said to take over the position of the union President gave the opening speech at the event and urged Ladokites to be peaceful and conduct themselves in an orderly manner so that they can listen to what the Gubernatorial Candidate has to say. 5) The chief Justice of the Union who is also a custodian of our constitution was at the scene of the event even before the arrival of the Union President, who was coming from OWODE POLICE STATION on the Demise of A STUDENT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PURE AND APPLIED CHEMISTRY. The bible says, “Without Decision, my People Perish” I want to state categorically that a sectional faction of the Student Representative Council of our citadel of learning headed by Comr USMAN WASIU BABATUNDE (RT. Hon. OTUNBA) has totally portrayed the organizational interest they belongs to. Leaving a whole lot of questions to be asked ![]() a) Where is the Speaker/Senate President, when The Union President was fighting for Resumption?? b) Where is the Speaker when the school added 25,000 increment on 100level tuition fee c) Where is the speaker and his group of same interest honourables who ought be protecting the interest of their respective constituency but instead of an organization, when there was 2000 weekly increment on the tuition fee?? d) What has been the addition of the speaker or the Honourable’s to this current dispensation and the benefit the student has derived from your stay in office?? e) We have not forgotten your 250,000 Naira Romance with GOV OYETOLA OF OSUN STATE where you said you will deliver all the votes of Ladokites if he will do you well ?Going by the request of some students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomoso who requested and demanded the audience of the Gubernatorial candidate even without the consent of the Union President. The constitution that supersedes every other constitution in the land is that of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and which gives room to fair hearing. That is every Nigerian irrespective of what happen reserve the singular right to fair hearing before he can be judged. On a final note, I want to agree that no reasonable Ladokite that is not affiliated to any political party will abide by the biased resolution of a sectional faction of the Lautech parliamentary arm. In lieu of this I put it before the President of the Union ,PRESIDENT ABIODUN OLUWASEUN A. K. A LAUREL to not only challenge the actions of defamation of character and public assassination of image and personality, but to also take it up with the course of the law, as a little stain at the edge of a plate cannot be overlook while eating except been removed totally. https://www.gistkit.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Davido-640x431.jpg Davido has revealed during one of his radio sessions in the US that he had to pay the sum of Fifty-five thousand British pounds in order to have the time of his 02 arena concert extended. The African global superstar called at New York’s Hot 97 FM studio while on the move for his radio tour to discuss his intent on breaking into the US and he revealed to Oldman Ebro the sacrifice he made in order to have the hall packed before he got on stage. Davido revealed he was quite scared that as at the time he was due for getting on stage, the hall was half-empty and he was told people were still loitering around the hall premises. He said the management came over to him and told him he has to get on stage no matter the situation else he pays a fifty-five thousand fine for extending the time. And he said he would rather pay the fine than get on stage while people aren’t seated. Davido said in his words, “I was scared though, because first of all, you know how we Africans do, we’re always late, we take time. They said I gotta get on stage by 8, and I said alright and then by 8 o’clock my boy come tell me that brother you can’t go on stage right now and I say what you mean, he said brother everybody is still walking around, I looked at the stadium, half empty. I was going crazy.” He then went on to reveal exactly what he did to buy time, he said; “They said i’d have to pay £55,000 for time extension and i said I’ll pay two hundred thousand pounds in this place. Me, the way I know my people, people want me to fail. If I go on that stage that place is half empty, somebody will take that picture and that picture will go farther than anything. I waited till that place was filled. I waited for about an hour and thirty before we started. I’d rather pay the fine because people don’t want you to win. Negativity goes way farther than positivity.” Source: https://www.gistkit.com/entertainment/i-paid-a-55000-fine-to-buy-a-time-extension-for-my-o2-arena-concert-davido/ Lalasticlala mynd44 Dominique missyb3 rocknation seun Fynestboi |

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday thanked God and Nigerians for the victory in the 2019 presidential election that was conducted on February 23. He said this in his acceptance speech on Wednesday morning at his presidential campaign headquarters in Abuja shortly after the INEC chairman declared him as the winner. The President also stated that his administration would continue to fight corruption, insecurity and improve on the economy. “The new administration will intensify its efforts in security, restructuring the economy and fighting corruption. We have laid down the foundation and we are committed to seeing matters to the end. We will strive to strengthen our unity and inclusiveness so that no section or group will feel left behind or left out,” he told jubilant supporters. His speech read in detail, “First and foremost, I give thanks to Almighty God Who has spared our lives to witness another victory for Nigerian democracy and victory for our party, the APC. “I thank the millions of Nigerians who voted to re-elect me as your president for the next four years. I am deeply humbled and profoundly grateful to you for judging me worthy of continuing to serve you and for your peaceful conduct. “In particular, I would like to thank Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for his masterful leadership as Co-chair of the Campaign Council. I would like to also thank the party chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, the Director General of the Campaign Council Rotimi Amaechi, all members of the Presidential Campaign Council and other various support groups. “My thanks to all those who contributed to the logistical expenses of the campaign in such a vast country like Nigeria. “I also thank the millions of volunteers, self-appointed overseers, canvassers, agents, escorts and sentries who sacrificed so much of their time and resources to ensure the success of these elections. I do not have the words adequate to thank them. “Although Saturday’s elections were relatively peaceful, troublemakers in a handful of states attempted to disrupt an otherwise orderly process. Security agencies will bring to justice all those arrested in the process. “I am very sad at the grievous loss of lives during these elections. Security agencies will step up their efforts to protect voters in the forthcoming state elections. “I would like to commend our security agencies, as severely overstretched as they are, for handling the difficult task of securing the country during the election period. “I will like to make a special appeal to my supporters not to gloat or humiliate the opposition. Victory is enough reward for your efforts. “We give thanks also to our domestic and international observers for contributing to the success of our elections and for their interest in our country and our developing democracy. “The new administration will intensify its efforts in security, restructuring the economy and fighting corruption. We have laid down the foundation and we are committed to seeing matters to the end. We will strive to strengthen our unity and inclusiveness so that no section or group will feel left behind or left out.” Source: https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/buhari-dedicates-victory-to-god-nigerians-unfolds-agenda/amp/

A junior high school graduate of the Sra Presbyterian Basic School at Trom in the Yilo Krobo District of Somanya in the Eastern Region has made giant strides through mango farming. Maxwell Kofi Lee is a mango farmer and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MKL Worth Farms in Somanya. 23-year-old Maxwell, owns a 10-acre mango farm inherited from his father after his passing. According to Maxwell, his father passed away when he was very young and he has since been in the mango producing business for over ten years. “I always knew I would invest in agriculture someday because that is our only source of livelihood in my community,” he noted. Maxwell has however given a different meaning to farming by proving wrong those who think farming is for illiterates. Maxwell said although the farming activities was mostly dominated by old folks, the youth have equally developed an interest in agriculture and he was more than glad to be a part of it. Meet 23-year-old Successful Mango Farmer Who Shunned A White Collar Job For Farming “Nowadays, young Ghanaian men and women are more interested in professional jobs like medical doctor, banker, engineer among others and they see farming to be the only job reserved for illiterates,” he said. Maxwell, who is the first of two children added that “nobody wants to do the conventional standing in the hot sun and sweating and labor that comes with it.” Touching on some of the challenges he faces in his line of work, he said farmers find it difficult to bring their produce due to poor roads. He also lamented the collapse of the rail network. He said this has forced his mangoes to sold mostly to ready-to-buy bulk buyers. “The biggest problem we have is we don’t have enough storage sheds; those that exist are mostly not refrigerated and there are few processing plants,” he disclosed. Maxwell identified Ghana’s agricultural sector as one of the most formidable economic ventures and urged the government to pay more attention to the farmers and equally help address their challenges. https://www.gistkit.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Ronaldo-juventus.jpg Juventus are currently sitting comfortable with a 13-point lead ahead of Napoli in the Serie A standings. The only team to have achieved that feat after week 22 round of matches was Inter Milan in the 2006-07 season The Bianconeri recorded a comprehensive 3-0 win over Frosinone while Napoli were held at home to Torino Juventus’ 13-point-lead at the top of Serie A over second-placed side Napoli has been the widest ever margin in week 24 since 2006-07 season. The Bianconeri in an early scheduled match defeated Frosinone by 3-0 as Napoli were held to a 0-0 scoreline by Torino in Naples. It was Carlos Ancelotti side’s second consecutive draw in as many weeks as the Italian champions extended their lead to 13 points on the table. And according to Opta Stats, since three points for a win was introduced in the 1994-95 season, the only time there had been a 13-point margin between first and second was back in the 2006-07 season. Inter Milan were the league leaders during that period and they were coasting to a Serie A title ahead of Roma who were in second after 24 round of matches. And that was the season Juventus were demoted to Serie B after they were found guilty of match-fixing allegations. Meanwhile, Juventus defeated second to the bottom team Frosinone by 3-0 at the Allianz Arena. Cristiano Ronaldo provided the assist for Paulo Dybala’s first, while Leonardo Bonucci scrambled home Juve’s second in the 19th minute. Ronaldo then crowned the night with a thumping finish to extend the Bianconeri’s lead at the top of the table.
