CrimeWoman Escapes With Daughter’s Corpse In Ondo by GistMore2(op): 5:10pm On Aug 22, 2019
The police in Ondo state on Thursday said it has begun investigation to unravel how a woman tortured her daughter to death in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The command spokesperson, Femi Joseph, who confirmed the incident, said efforts were on to track the woman in order to know how it all happened.

It was learnt that a woman whose identity is yet to be ascertained, was said to have rushed her daughter believed to be about four (4) years to the Ondo State University Teaching Hospital, Akure Annex.

The incident reportedly happened on Wednesday night when the woman brought in the girl dead into the hospital, with suspected marks of horsewhip visible on the girl’s body.

According to some members of staff of the government-owned hospital “the woman escaped with the child’ corpse which was brought to the Children’s Outpatients Department (COPD) of the hospital.

“The woman brought in the girl to the hospital at the children’s emergency ward for treatment.

“As we tried to attend to her, we noticed that she had maltreated the girl to the point of death.

“If you see the body of the girl, it was a case of Child Abuse as there were serious marks of beaten all over her.

“By the time the doctor on duty came in to attend to her, it was discovered that the child was brought in dead.

“The doctor had to quickly tell the woman that the young kid she brought to the hospital was dead already.

“Before you know it, the woman grabbed the girl and ran away from the hospital facility”.

One of the doctors on duty confirmed the incident, noting that the child was brought in dead by the mother.

The doctor who preferred anonymity said “Immediately she (the woman) brought in the child dead to the hospital, we tried to resuscitate her but there was no life again.

“And before we knew it, the woman grabbed the corpse of her child and ran outside the hospital facility.

“All effort to trace her has since proven abortive because we did not know how she just managed to escape from the hospital facility,” the doctor said.

Also, confirming the incident, the Administrative Secretary of the hospital, Dayo Owoseni said “I only heard about the incident this morning and we have called on the doctor on duty to come over and explained what happened to us.

“Although, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital was not currently around and the remaining top staffs are in a meeting

Ondo police spokesperson, said there is no proper record of the case registered at the hospital, but efforts are on to track the woman.

“We have already sent in some officers to go and investigate the case to know what actually went wrong”.

EducationUNIBADAN Bans Male Visitors From Female Hostels, Gives Reason by GistMore2(op): 7:23pm On Aug 13, 2019
The management of University of Ibadan has announced that male visitors have henceforth been banned from entering any of the female hostels in the institution.

The institution announced that the decision to ban male visitors from the hostels was necessitated by recent robbery attacks on female hostels in the institution.

DAILY POST recalls that some armed robbers had in July this year, attacked the Obafemi Awolowo hall, where students’ property ranging from mobile telephones, laptops and money were forcefully taken away from the innocent female students. Our correspondent gathered that, no fewer than two students were injured in the robbery attack in the female hostel.

A similar incident was recorded at the Abubakar Abdulsalami hall, a post graduate hostel, in the early hours of Sunday, where students’ property were taken away. Some students were also injured during the Sunday attack.

But, the institution in a release titled, “Security measures in Queen Elizabeth Hall, Queen Idia Hall and Obafemi Awolowo Hall”, said that as part of measures to curtain the robbery attacks, female students should also be screened at the Porters’ lodge in the female hostels.

Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Idowu Olayinka, in a statement obtained by DAILY POST on Tuesday, added that residents of the female hostels are to receive visitors outside their respective hostels.

Olayinka said, “In view of recent security situation on the Campus male visitors are henceforth prohibited from entering the above listed Female Halls of Residence.

“The Residents of the aforementioned Halls can only receive their male visitors outside the Hall. Female visitors should be screened at the Porters’ Lodge.

“Moreover, all male visitors are expected to leave the precincts of the female Halls by 8:30 pm. Any one found loitering will be regarded as a suspect.”

Tamar Braxton's Nigerian boyfriend narrates his experience bringing the American singer to Nigeria

Tamar Braxton's Nigerian boyfriend has told of his experience bringing the American singer to Nigeria for his mother's 80th birthday celebration.

David Adefeso said he hadn't been to Nigeria for almost 30 years and was sceptical because of all the bad things he was hearing about Nigeria and Lagos in particular. He said US doctors even warned them and their team against eating the food here.

But when they got to Nigeria, they realized they had nothing to worry about.

He narrated his and Tamar's experience and all they got up to while they were here for his mother's 80th birthday party.

Sharing photos from their stay in Nigeria, David Adefeso wrote:

When I asked my @tamarbraxton to come with me to my mom’s birthday party in Nigeria I had no idea what to expect?.

I grew up in Lagos ??so I was excited to take her back home?, but this was not one of our nice chill vacations under the warm Cancun resort sun ??‍?? No! This was a trip to Lagos, a tough, hot city where the “hustle” never endshuh‍??.

Not having lived there for almost 30 years I’d heard stories of how dangerous Lagos had become. They said night trips were too risky, kidnappings were regular and bribery was standard?. Heck some US doctors told some of the staff we brought along not to eat the food ?.

We braced ourselves for the unexpected but instead we experienced a colorful explosion of culture, intertwined with wildly imaginative and unapologetic tradition. ? The richly exquisite native cuisine can only be experienced, not described ? and all of this is surrounded by a vibrant, pulsating sense of optimism that is apparent the moment one steps off the airplane ??.

We had the time of our lives in Lagos!!! We danced all night at a cool upper-end Lagos night clubhuh?; jumped into a studio session with 3 of the topmost musicians in the country; visited @nikeartgallery owned by a legendary fashion designer and her charming husband; joined an impromptu dance competition at an equally impromptu family reunion surrounded by 30 of my closest family members; and hung out with a visionary 21st century king with charm and personality who was surrounded by deep historical and cultural norms and traditions that remind one of how proud and strong our country must have looked and felt like long before the colonialists arrived.

?? Did I mention the open-air market where a 30-minute haggling session over a pair of handmade flip flops is standard and the Fulani “mallams” are all cool smooth talkers!

How about the time when Tamar got mad at me because I made her walk in this surreal darkened alley one afternoon with dirty rainwater up to our ankles; later Tamar would “make it rain” ? at my dear mom’s 80th birthday party!

We did this all in 5-packed, fun-filled days and the best part is we documented every part of it just for you ? so stay tuned!

CrimeBeninese Cook Arrested For Stealing Politician’s $22,000 (N7.9m) In Abuja (Photo by GistMore2(op): 7:00am On Aug 09, 2019
A Beninese cook identified as Samuel Tchiki has been arrested alongside his compatriots for stealing a politician's $22,000 in Abuja.

The suspects stole the safe the money was in, vandalised it before embarking on a shopping spree with the money. Other suspects arrested for the theft include Francis Kpohouede, George Akinto, Donald Tokpe, Honore Tokpe and Emmanuel Savi and the police only recovered $13,000 from them as they reportedly bought television sets, sound systems, generators and other domestic appliances with stolen money.

Tchiki has been living in Nigeria since 2008 and reportedly moved to Abuja because of poor salary after working in a hotel in Cross River State.

“When my boss, Casmir Anyanwu, travelled, I got my friends to carry the safe from his room and we took it to Mpape, where we opened it. We found $22,000, which we shared. I gave my brother $600. I spent my share on clothes and home appliances. I don’t know what got into me; I can’t say why I stole the money,” Tchiki told Punch.

FCT's Commissioner of Police Bala Ciroma, advised Nigerians to carry out background checks on domestic workers before employing them as he paraded the suspects who have all confessed to the crime.

CelebritiesBakare Olalekan Mubarak: My Height, My Greatest Asset — Tallest Model In Nigeria by GistMore2(op): 4:45am On Aug 09, 2019
Standing at a towering height of 6 feet’8 inch, Bakare Olalekan Mubarak is currently the tallest model in sub-Saharan Africa, a record he has held since 2016. His intimidating height attracts stares everywhere he goes to. In a recent interview with Adefolami Balogun, Mubarak claims to be of same height as the tallest model in the world, Ekaterina Lisina, who is known for her slots in the Guinness Book of World Records. Mubarak also speaks about his modeling career, and achievements so far.

You’re known to be a professional model in this part of the world where people believe that modelling is for females, how did you find yourself in the industry?

For me, I have always felt that I needed to make a statement and it’s not all the tall guys that should play basketball. I feel we could make history and become legends doing some other things.

How long have you been a model?

I have been a model for over three years.

And what are your achievements so far?

(Laughing) Oh well, I wouldn’t want to say that I’ve achieved because I do not have a ‘no’ caution for optimism. I think I’ll comfortably say that I’m greedy when it comes to goals and achievements but I’ll say one of the greatest milestones I’ve attained was the record of being the tallest model in Nigeria first and then the tallest model in sub-Saharan Africa. I was first a pageant king in 2015, I’ve worked with renowned brands such as; Fashion TV, Glo Nigeria, Itel mobile, Zenith Bank, Afrotourism MESS, Los Angeles, to mention few.

Why are you adding culture and tourism as projects with your modeling career?

One of the greatest things I feel that I’ve achieved personally is bringing a change in the game which is like a fusion of modeling with tourism and culture which brings about my projects, ‘The Photo Waka’ and ‘The Modern African Man’.

‘Photo Waka’ is a trade mark initiative that is a fusion of modeling and tourism and it’s intended to promote the beauty of African culture and unite Africans through photo documentaries and on this one I have the Ooni of Ife as the grand patron. ‘The Modern African Man”’are world-class commercial clips showcasing the beauty of an Afrocentric man ranging from wears, accessories, etc, and concentrating on the details to show the beauty of African attires, lifestyles, culture, food, dance and everything about Africa. These are initiatives that came into existence out of a burning passion to promote our culture as a lover of culture.

What were the challenges you faced when you started?

Well, everyone has challenges, but I do not entertain challenges. I feel I have to do what I have to do. The first thing was the fear of failure and discouragement from people that were close to me. My father didn’t actually support me to become a model, he wanted me to live that predictable conventional life. He spent a lot putting me through school; I went to a private university and he expected that after school, I get a job and earn a living. But my own intentions were different. I don’t want to live a predictable conventional life, so it took me time to convince him about what I wanted to do.

What inspired you to becoming a model?

Back then, whenever I walked on the street even without wearing any designer cloth or anything, I got stared at a lot, I can tell categorically that 50 per cent of the people on the street whenever I walk stare at me or even say something about me. So I felt I could leverage on my height, I could capitalise on it and that was how it all started with me becoming Mr Kwara International in 2015.

What future achievements you are looking forward to?

I was recently confirmed to represent Nigeria amongst 53 other countries as Global Cultural Ambassador of the Commonwealth International Global Pageant in London by November. Again, I was conferred with the honor of the Cultural Ambassador at the prestigious Nike Art Gallery Limited and I’m hoping and praying for more to come.

Are you in a relationship?

(Laughs) No, I’m engaged to my career at the moment.

Who is Mubarak?

Well, I have a lot to say about Mubarak but I’ll just say a few. I am the tallest model in sub-Saharan Africa, based on evaluation I stand at the same height as the world’s tallest model. At 23, Bakare Mubarak is a hard worker with a humble personality, a model, an influencer, a graduate of accounting and also an ex-pageant king (Mr Kwara International 2015/2016).
