Two top officials of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), the company which supervised execution of the $16 billion Obasanjo power projects, have been arrested by the EFCC.

They were among the four persons detained by the anti-graft agency on Wednesday. The arrests signaled the beginning of the probe of the humongous expenditure during the Obasanjo presidency, with little results to show.

The NDPHC officials arrested are the Head of Finance Marvel Emefiele and Head of Compensation Eze M. C. Odigbo, The Nation Reported. They are expected to account for the N850 million earmarked as compensation to communities where components of the power project were sited, Others in EFCC’s net are Managing Director of Pivot Engineering Mr. Richard Ayibiowu and the Managing Director of Chris Ejik Nigeria Limited Mr. Christain Ejik Imoka.

Detectives are on the trail 18 more suspects including two former governors, a former chairman of a bank and a former chairman of an airline. About 15 more companies are also on the EFCC radar, it was learnt last night. There are fears that some of the suspects might have secretly relocated abroad.

The Kano State Hisbah Board says it has arrested 60 suspected beggars in Kano metropolis for allegedly violating the law banning street begging in the state.

Alhaji Lawan Ibrahim the Public Relations’ Officer of the Board disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Kano State adding that the suspects were apprehended on Tuesday afternoon during a special raid carried out between 2:30 p.m and 4:00 p.m at club road in the metropolis.

“The number comprises of 54 adults and six female children.

“Out of the 60 beggars that were arrested, 24 who were first-time offenders were granted bail and handed over to their relatives, while 36 of them who were caught more than two times would be charged to court,” he said.

After many months of speculations, reality TV star, TBoss, has confirmed she was pregnant and has welcomed her bundle of joy.

In a post shared on her Instagram page this morning, the 35-year-old said she had to keep her pregnancy away from social media because she was scared of the negativity of some users.

Not revealing the sex of her baby which many speculate is a girl, TBoss wrote;

I went shopping & out a lot & took lots of photos with my beautiful fans - Selfies Only of course & never felt the need to cover up or hide anything- And why should I? Do you know the struggle a lot of women go through to get what I have? A Free Gift from God! And you think at 35 I ought to feel some type of way because someone has an unsolicited opinion about me? Ha Ha Ha... Silence is NOT denial.

My silence was just that: Silence- until I was ready to speak about it.

The Nigerian Army is concluding arrangements to move its soldiers, who may be indicted by the Defence Headquarters’ Joint Investigative Panel’s report, to the 3 Division headquarters, Jos, Plateau State, for a possible General Court Martial.

The DHQ joint panel, headed by Rear Admiral Ibikunle Olaiya, which investigated the killing of three policemen and one civilian by some soldiers in Ibi, Taraba State, is expected to submit its report to the Chief of the Defence Staff, Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin, on Monday (today).


Our correspondent had reported on Saturday that the seven-man panel’s report could indict some army personnel who would then be court-martialled and likely face dismissal, “going by their level of culpability.”

The DHQ panel concluded its work on Friday after sitting for three days at the Defence Intelligence Agency, Abuja, during which it grilled soldiers, policemen, civilians and the suspected kidnap kingpin, Hamisu Wadume.

Our correspondent learnt on Sunday that the army was “anxiously awaiting the outcome and recommendations” of the panel’s report and the 3 Division in Jos would receive any indicted personnel for the military court trial.


The police had last Monday re-arrested the Taraba kidnap kingpin, Hamisu Wadume, at a hideout in the Layin Mai Allo Hotoro area of Kano State, who made confessions implicating the officer and soldiers in Ibi.

A top military source confirmed to our correspondent on Sunday that soldiers at the Ibi Unit, who are suspected to be indicted by the panel report, would be moved to the 3 Division in Jos.

Other sources noted that the 3 Division, Jos, being the headquarters of the 23 Brigade in Yola, Adamawa State, was expected to conduct a GCM for the personnel once the outcome of the DHQ panel had been made public.


A competent DHQ source said, “The captain, Balarabe Tijjani, is back in detention in one of the military facilities after he was cross-examined by the panel. Depending on the outcome of the panel’s report, he and other soldiers will be moved to the 3 Division in Jos, Plateau State, which is the mother of the 23 Brigade and Ibi Unit.

“We don’t know the recommendations of the panel yet, but the army is expected to make further inquiries on the matter and prepare the personnel for a General Court Martial. In fact, that is ongoing already.”

@metissebelleza asserted that no one will use her mistakes to control her, as she attached screenshots of chats she had with the alleged blackmailer alongside his number. She wrote;

An octogenarian and five elderly men, including her husband, have been arrested after they were caught having group sex in a woodland in Connecticut, United States, last week.

Police said they busted the senior citizens getting hot and heavy at the Grace Richardson Conservation area in Fairfield during a police crackdown on public hook-ups in the area.

They are identified as Joyce Butler, 85 – the sole woman participating in the orgy – her husband Richard Butler, 82; Daniel Dobbins, 67; Otto D. Williams, 62; Charles L. Ardito, 75; and John Linartz, 62.

All six were arrested and charged with breach of peace. Dobbins and Linartz have additionally been charged with public indecency.

A policeman has killed a widow hawking at the Aba Central Police Station identified as Mrs. Peace after hitting her.

Sources in the area told our reporter that the deceased until her death hawked second-hand clothing materials within the vicinity.

It was gathered that she was hit to the wall by a Mercedes Benz jeep driven by a traffic officer identified as Supol Innocent.

Another account has it that Police personnel was trying to reverse the vehicle before he lost control and smashed the widow who was passing-by to the wall unknowingly.

She was said to have been taken to the Police Clinic at the Aba Area Command for medical attention by rescuers immediately after the incident happened.

Efforts to save her life however proved abortive as she was said to have died a few minutes later as the vehicle injured her on the stomach region, leaving her with severe bleeding.

“It was around 1 am. I saw a black Mercedes Jeep that someone was trying to drive out. I heard a loud sound with a woman hit to the wall. It all happened within a second. There was blood all over the ground.

“It was an accident that no one can explain or may find difficult to understand because that place is a small place to warrant such an impact,” according to an eyewitness account

The Public Relations Officer, Abia State Police Command, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, who confirmed the incident, said the corpse had been deposited in a mortuary while the officer is being detained.
