Davido's first baby mama, Sophia Momodu has taken to social media to reveal how their househelp stole money and Imade's international passport. Gistmore reports

According to Sophia;

Earlier this year my former assistant stole money and NY daughter's Yankee passport. I didn't even know it was missing till my older nanny told me to pls check my room for missing valuables 2 whole days after the girl had left us.

I thank God for his grace, we were able to retrieve most of the things she stole. Since then my trust issues heightened when it comes to workers I literally just let my mum & auntie do all the taking cos me I don't even have that strength walahi.

The Kogi State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Prof. James Apam, has confirmed the death of an ad-hoc Electoral Officer (EO) in a boat accident in Ibaji LGA of the state.

The deceased, Samuel, was on election duty on Saturday when he met his untimely death. The boat he and others were travelling in capsized.

Samuel, an ad-hoc staff, was a student of the Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, engaged for the governorship election in the state. He recently wrote his final exam and was to defend his project this week.

For stealing a one-month-old baby in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, a-39-year-old woman, Mercy Momoh, was on Monday sentenced to three years’ imprisonment.

Momoh was tried and convicted by an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on a count of stealing a baby.

The police prosecutor, Sergeant Samson Osobu, told the court that the convict committed the offence on September 20, 2019, at the Ekiti State Government Secretariat in Ado-Ekiti.

“She stole a month-old baby belonging to Funmilayo Dada. The offence contravenes Section 371 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012,” Osobu said.

The prosecutor, while presenting the fact of the case before the court, said Momoh confessed to the crime.

He stated, “Momoh saw the nursing mother with her baby and deceived her that the Ekiti State Empowerment Programme was disbursing money to underprivileged people at the state secretariat.

“The nursing mother followed Momoh to the place. On getting there, Momoh told the nursing mother to help her buy a recharge card. She asked Dada to leave her baby and phone in her care, while she quickly went on the errand. But when the nursing mother returned, she did not see Momoh and the baby.

“The embattled and embittered nursing mother reported the matter at the police station and through information, the woman was apprehended by the police and the baby was given back to the mother.”

Momoh pleaded guilty to the charge.

In his judgment, the Chief Magistrate, Mr Adesoji Adegboye, sentenced Momoh to a three-year jail term.

The chief magistrate, however, gave her the option of N100,000 fine.

One Iniobong Okon Moses of Ikot Amupe Obio Offot, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State who allegedly defiled his two-year-old step daughter said he committed the act thinking that it was with his wife.

Iniobong revealed this when he was paraded in the police command headquarters, Ikot-Akpanabia alongside other suspects allegedly involved in incest and rape.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, SP Odiko Macdon, while briefing the press on Friday over the activities of sexual predators in the state said Iniobong forcefully defiled the two year old while carrying her on his laps.

Macdon noted that the forceful penetration caused the victim to sustain serious injuries, which made her bled profusely, adding that the girl has been taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

The suspect in an interrogation by newsmen, confessed to the crime and narrated how he came back from a vigil, drunk, grabbed his two-year-old step daughter thinking that she was his wife and had carnal knowledge of her.

He added that it was at the middle of the act that his wife nabbed him as she suddenly entered inside the house adding that the wife thereafter reported him to FEYrep- Family Empowerment Youths reorientation programme, a pet project of the wife of the governor, Dr. Mrs Martha Emmanuel.

The suspect said, “I no know wetin come over me, that night as I come back from vigil, I took ogogoro, and I no know wetin I dey do. I carry my wife daughter which she get from another marriage and I think say na my wife, I come dey do am.”

He continued, “As I come dey do am, my wife enter from no where, catch me red-handed, come carry me report give FEYrep. I don beg am, but e no gree! even though e no say e born pikin for me three months ago.”

Also, the command paraded one Anwanga Essien Udo aged 33 residing at No. 7 Itiam street in Uyo, for defiling his 10 year old step daughter when she was left alone with him.

It was gathered that the suspect who is a pastor with the Restoration Bible Church, Uyo had deceived the mother of the victim to abandon her husband and live with him (pastor).

The 10-year-old victim, who spoke with our correspondent said, “that night, the uncle said he would rub me and my sister cream after taking our bath, when he finished with my sister who is six, he forced her to sleep and when he finished rubbing me cream, I wanted to go and lie down with my sister but he refused and said I must sleep in his room.

“I watched him undressed, started touching me all over, I was crying, begging him, but he didn’t listen, he finally did it. My sister later woke up, and started crying too. The uncle flogged her for crying and was telling neighbors that she flogged us because we pee on the bed. When i went to my grandmother’s place, i told her everything that happened.”

The grandmother to the victim, however, alerted FEYrep and got the suspect arrested.

Meanwhile, the police command said it had declared war against sexual predators and other vices in the state and warned perpetrators to desist or face the wrath of the law. Police also urged parents to report any form of sexual harassment noticed on their children to police or any law enforcement agency.

Personnel of the Oyo State Police Command, on Monday, stormed an illegal detention centre at a mosque in the Ojoo area of Ibadan, and rescued 259 persons being held hostage there.

The victims were made up of 19 males, 34 females, 11 children, and 23 sick persons.

It was gathered that the victims had been in chains for between two and 10 years.

The police arrested nine suspects during the raid, including the owner of the centre.

PUNCH Metro findings showed that many such centres had been in existence in the city for several years, with clerics using them as corrective homes for recalcitrant persons.

The state Commissioner of Police, Shina Olukolu, who led the police team to the centre, said a 17-year-old escapee from a holding facility in another part of Ibadan hinted the command about the existence of the centre.

The commissioner stated that the escapee mentioned the Oloore mosque in Ojoo as another facility used for holding the victims against their will.

According to him, on arrival at the mosque, the victims recounted their harrowing experience, stating that some of them had been held hostage for up to 10 years.

Olukolu said, “The young man said the victims were being maltreated and were poorly fed; being treated like slaves and engaged in forced labour; and oftentimes, their deaths were not reported to anybody.

“On the basis of that information, the police decided to check out the centre. By the time we got to Owode, Apata, the facility had been evacuated. But from the surroundings, we knew that there were people in that place earlier than the time we arrived.

“However, the young man informed the police that there was another detention facility and that is where we are now at Oloore, Ojoo area of Ibadan.

“Actually, when the police got here, we discovered that young men and women were being kept in captivity in a dungeon-like situation. As a matter of fact, man’s inhumanity to man is being manifested in this environment. We are not happy about the situation.

“So, we got across to the state government and the state government officials are around. They are here with a view to ensuring that some of these young people, who are kept against their will, are liberated and allowed to be in a position where they can talk and take care of themselves.

“Definitely, this area will be secured and the police will be able to do further investigation.

Anyone, who is found culpable, will definitely be arrested, investigated and prosecuted diligently to serve as a warning to others, who may want to operate such houses that serve as illegal detention centres.”
